[Introduction]
Hello to all of the Xperia Play users!
[Overview]
Have you ever bought a glass digitizer replacement to replaced a broken glass digitizer following "Repair Universe's" youtube video tutorial (google it) and suddenly see that it does not touch?
Well follow this guide and you can get your digitizer working again.
*Only tested on Xperia Play [R800x][Verizon][CDMA] but it should work for the others as-well, in concept.
[Problem]
"The replacement glass digitizer does not register touch after installing it but, when i re-install the old/broken digitizer it works."

Diagnoses #1:

Incorrect, It is very much compatible, it is just outdated but, with Custom Kernels it can work as a v7.
Diagnosis #2:
"The ribbons for both old/broken and replacement digitizers are the same but, it still does not register touch for the replacement."

This could possibly be the case if after following this guide it still does not work, but for now, I am going to say, follow the steps on this guide before buying a new digitizer.
Diagnosis #3:
"neither digitizers register touch."

This may be very much true, unless you have previously messed with the flash/software or non-carefully re-installing the old digitizer, the old digitizer should be able to register touch.
[Solutions]
Diagnosis #1 & #2

* Sony Ericsson Xperia Flasher -by Bin4ry and Androxyde *Google it or go into the development section.
* Official Android Firmware v2.3.2 *or lowest your phone can go. Click here! Forum made by Captain67
* USB Andriod drivers Installed for Xperia Play. *Located in "drivers" folder in the Flash-tool's directory.
* Xperia Play to have enabled USB debugging for use of Flash-tools. *may not be needed for this guide.

[Instructions]
1.) After succesfully installing the digitizer, turn on the phone and allow it reach the main screen.
2.) With the phone powered on, Plug your phone via USB to your computer. *install android drivers if you have not done so already.
3.) Download the lowest firmware suitable for your Xperia. *link is above in requirements
4.) Unzip the firmware you should get and "*.FTF" file, drag this file into the "firmware" folder in the flash-tool's directory.
5.) Open the flash-tool program.
6.) With the flash-tool program opened, click on the thunderbolt icon and select "flash-mode".
7.) Using the firmware you have downloaded from the link above, proceed to flash the firmware on the phone by clicking "ok".
* Wipe Data and other options are optional, and it does no difference but to possibly clear space.
8.) Once you have successfully flashed, you should see that the touch screen actually works.

* Yes you can upgrade to the custom kernels and firmwares as the original firmwares re-codes the digitizer to work on your phone.
Diagnosis #3
Uh, you may have to replace the flex cables for the slider or you may have not properly inserted the touch screen cable correctly to the digitizer.
I did buy one from repair universe, did not work. Bought one off Ebay and it worked fine. Cracked new working one about a week later. :banghead:

At the time people did not know what to do, I too had this problem until i tried flashing to the original. then Boom! I saved waiting a week and money. The digitizers needs to be reisntalled, thats it. only way to do it is by orignial stock firmwares, then you can re-upgrade to custom.
How did you re-crack the screen? Did you throw away the digitizer from repair universe? If not, then you can use that still by following the guide.
Worked perfectly. Much thanks.

Is this automatically done or do I need to find something that can do this for me? (I've already tried and it didn't work I had to have the ribbon replaced and thought this might be it)
This is my problem:
Some time ago I bought a Xperia Play on second-hand web from a guy on my city. In time, the phone got wet by rain, and digitizer started to go sometimes crazy, specially texting. I could survive with it.
After 2 months, the Ribbon Flex crashed, it showed screen completely screwed up, like in TV, you know, that problem that happen to everyone after sometime . So I changed it.
The point its, when i changed it, my old Digitizer stopped working. So I buyed a new one, which of course, I dont know why doesnt work too (this replacement comes from a trusted dealer from my uncle electronics shop, so for the moment, I dont think the new digitizer itself its the problem).
So, for the moment, I see you suggest the problem comes from software, and not hardware. Heres what im suffering: I dont have the Bootloader unlock. I only have Unroot and im not able to unlock the BL unless I pay to those guys who are able to do that unofficialy.
What the hell Im supossed to do man? Im starting to go panic. Please, I need your help if its posible.
Thank you at least for reading this.
Thanks a lot for this guide. Made my Xperia Play touch screen rework again. Thanks thanks thanks!
digitizer version compatibility issue
In reference to diagnoses 1, digitizer version 6 compatibility, which custom kernels fix this issue?

If doom kernel didn't work, try lupus or turbo kernel. I mean what have you got to lose.

Xperia digitizer problem
Hey, recently I cracked my digitizer so I bought a new one on internet and replaced it. Everything gone well. But hmm like 10 hours later the touch screen didn't respond. I'm hard reseting the phone and everything works fine again for couple hours. What do you think is a cause? Could I uncarefully connect the flex cables ?
I love you man. It worked. You need 2.3.2 ftf guys. Thank you again.
After a couple flex cable replacements, LCD replacements, battery replacements, I can safely say that my xperia died a hero.
I have a new "Project 1 v7.0 M" Digitizer, and nothing seem to be working, does the Touch Screen is dead ?
Also on the touch screen i can see a things look like a gasoline spot(a air glue hole ?).
xperia u digitizer not recognised
wel flashing custom kernel and custom firmware will fix this issue i tried this on my xperia u !! and it worked !!! My original digitizer model was TCP35c29 v1.2 but the replacement was way too far from it it was TC35c29 v0.2 but i was able to make the replacment digitizer work by flashing custom firmware
Jelly bean custom kernel for xperia u :- http://d-h.st/59a
Jelly bean custom firmware : http://d-h.st/Rlx
In my case its change nothing.
i replaced the flex cable of my xperia play because the screen would go black when sliding the pad out, now screen works, but the digitizer doesn't..i flashed custom and original ftf but no touch is registered, all button works..i didn't try repair with pc companion cause it says custom firmware, so it wouldn repair..any help?

They said that the new beta would be available this week,i think that this one will be very close to the final!!!!!
No changelog or anything, but now there is only 1 step in the update
I have installed. No large changes. Why for other versions U8800 be immediately final version ROM? Why not for first model x5? Where is the problem???!!! If Huawei developers take be CM7 or Oxygen ROM and a little fine-tuned, so have per hour ready official firmware. I do not it.
If someone needs a mirror, i've upload it into rapidshare:

what about volume key wake up function?
Different file size - beta1 345.951kB, beta1 second 345.956kB Still not function haptic feedback, freeze touch screen when mobo player end play file - i lock-unlock screen, then again work. Yet no problem with detection SD card, work properly (tested 3 hours, reboot, power off, remove battery, still OK) Still verry sensitive touch display. That's all for now
P.S. My IMEI is still zero... :-( But all radio OK, GSM,WiFi,BT....
Volume up wake up does not work for me.
no differance at all, but one thing is working.... external card issue, now there is no cd drive option.... working fine...... but still the main problem is there.... MY IMEI=0
IS THERE NOT A SINGLE GOOD HEARTED PERSON WHO CAN HELP THOSE WHO HAVE UNINTENTIONALLY LOST THEIR IMEI... i request developers to help us as there is still a large number of people who own a legal x5 u8800, so the imei problem should not be an issue for them..... PLEASE HELP AND SAVE OUR PRECIOUS MONEY

Power off phone. Insert SD card with dload\update.app Boot vol+/vol-/connect usb cable (do not press power buton) He begin flash ROM. This is my way.
Imei = 0
still have sd card insues
Your IMEI turned into 0 by updating to this beta 2?
yes, besides that, i dont notice any change
Just finished flashing, phone rebooted 4 or 5 times before I saw the lovely green android... Checked IMEI ok, wi-fi working, sd-card working, haptic feedback working on soft-keys and all keyboards except swype (could be some settings...) More testing tomorrow
Hey guys,
can you say me if there will be custom roms for this tablet in the future?
would be very nice, cause i love flashing all my devices

They absolutely have. I was able to "semi-root" with framaroot, so thankfully su is added BUT I still can't uninstall bloatware...although there isn't much it still bugs me. full root and ROM still needed.
Custom ROM for S6000 would be very nice. Searching for it every day.
KitKat
Hopefully someone will add a KitKat ROM when possible, don't see lenovo upgrading us to it when it becomes available. Don't think the tablet is popular enough unfortunately though.
Just use titanium back up to remove bloat.... Work great for me

Yea, I wish there was a custom ROM too. I just got my S6000-H yesterday, rooted it right away and used TiBu to remove some of the bloatware (I froze some more that I wasn't sure of). But it's missing simple things I'm used to from my N7000, like the advanced options in the shutdown menu.
I read in another thread that we do have a type of recovery built in - could someone tell me where to find it?
Never mind, found it ... and finally installed CWM today too. Now all I need is a nice custom ROM, but it doesn't look like any devs have that tablet
Use xposed to add modules. .. reboot, multi Window, floating, etc...etc... my S6000 tab works great. .. Still not good as my note 3 but...almost! My wife is jealous of all my tab can do... She think it stock that way. .. And her weird little Ellipses 7 Verizon gave hercan't do half of it. ... Guess I'll have to pimp her tab up for her! ! Look up x posed installer on xda, or Google it, then just follow where it leads. ... Easy

Thanks for that tip ... I just installed xposed and 3 modules, going to have a look through that huge list these days to see if I find more.
I installed the one to show the temperature in the status bar, the advanced reboot one and the one that shows RAM used/free in the task switcher. Pretty neat so far - if you know of any other "must-have" modules feel free to let me know
And sorry criszz, but no idea if that'll work on your tablet too

Thanks for that update!
I won't hold my breath for anything official seeing as Lenovo didn't even bump up to 4.3,
and zero ROMS out there? Or am I rubbish at searching?
I read in an other Forum that there is no Custom ROM yet because Mediatek isn't releasing Source Code of their ROMs. After Browsing Lenovo Site of the S6000 I have found this:
mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/s6000_tablet?tabname=manuals
You get linked to Manuals, click on Downloads section and then there is:
Open Source Code - S6000 Tablet 10/12/2013 - 320MB
Don't know if it's the right thing, just wanted to mention it here.
And other News on KitKat:
news.softpedia.com/news/Android-4-4-KitKat-Update-for-Lenovo-Yoga-8-Inch-and-10-Inch-Tablets-Coming-in-June-438474.shtml
It's getting closer now, first 4.4 mediatek tablet ( lenovo yoga ) get's update in June. Let's hope for a compatible version / port for the S6000.
In am wondering if the Updates for the Yoga Tablets are compatible with the S6000, cause they use same processor and overall same specs.
Greetings JanDr0id
ps: i erased the httttttp in front of the links cause its my 1st post and xda isnt allowing me to post links yet.
I saw that mediatek released their source for kitkat. All the parts are there. Just need a Dev with one of these to assemble it.

[update 25th February: modem now semi-working! Here's a pic ]
Hi all,
I'm excited to announce the availability of the inaugural release of SailfishOS for the M7 (GSM variant).
Instructions, information and download links are available here.
The adaptation is very much a work in progress: modem and camera not yet functional being the largest of the issues but we're actively working on them and hope to have functionality in place in the coming weeks. Regarding the US variants, the Sprint version has been successfully tested but public images for this adaptation are not yet available. There is an outside chance the 'vanilla' M7 SailfishOS image will function when paired with the appropriate Cyanogenmod 11.0 release but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it and don't have a device/am in the wrong continent to test.
So if you have an M7 kicking around that you don't use as your daily or are keen to see what is going on beyond the world of Android please take this for a spin. Who knows, you might even like it.
We chat about all* of our hardware adaptations on FreeNode in the #sailfishos-porters channel if you want to drop by.
Cheers,
Steph ([email protected], @chucisteph)
* if you're interested in other devices we're currently working on over 35 hardware adaptations and are actively engaging communities for more.

Days hopefully but probably weeks. The modem is there and detected but I'm having difficulty turning it on. Once that's solved it should (hopefully!) Just Work(tm).
I am installing this rom on my HTC m7. Thank you so much. Will love to assist you people in any way possible.
Update:
Everything works perfectly except, GSM, camera and store. Have played with it for around half an hour. There is another bug with power off menu. It got stucked when i tried to do so forcing me to soft reset my mobile. And i tried adding my sim card and after the reboot it get stucked in boot loop.
Hoping to see fully working SFOS in nearest future.

Touch screen not work my device :crying:
Hi all!
Happy to say that I have managed to get some modem support working this afternoon. I'll do my best to bake an image tonight. Where we're at at the moment:
* Modem functional but currently not showing SIM status correctly in UI
* SMS sending and receiving works
* Mobile data works (and shows correctly in the UI
* Call functionality works: can make and receive calls, however call audio not currently working
These are all problems that other devices have had in the past, and they all have solutions so I am going to work as quickly as I can to get them resolved and make an image in with fixes.

That's great to hear. Once I have the modem properly working I will need help both for testing but also to enable store support (I need to send two IMEIs to Jolla so they can verify that the port works properly. Regarding your boot loop, the SIM should make no difference but I have noticed that the boot can sometimes be upset if the phone is started whilst plugged into a computer:- the GUI sometimes never comes up. I'm working on that but it only happens to me maybe 1 in 10 times so it's low down my list of priorities.

ok so sailfish is a fully blown linux distribution, means that once it's booted, even if the gui is messed up you can still SSH into it and ask it what it's doing (similar to adb shell). I just need to go RTFM how to make Windows recognise the USB network that your phone is presenting when you plug it in.

2- İnstal "cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-m7"
3- Shutdown and Powered up again by launching android
4- Reboot Recovery and instal "sailfishos-m7-release-2.0.0.10-sg-rel-201602180750.zip", and reboot again
5-Normaly boot but touch does not work in the language of choice
Sorry for my bad english

Your English is fine!
ok so your steps 1) and 2) only need to be done once:- Sailfish relies on the CM version for hardware support but once CM has been installed, when you install the SFOS zip it goes next to the CM /system and /data.
4) You're using an older SFOS image: does this one work: http://images.devaamo.fi/sfe/m7/sfe...s-m7-release-2.0.0.10-sg-rel-201602191147.zip
Out of interest, in step 3, does touch work?
No am sorry
Perhaps in a different firmware version required, because the power button works. Maybe that's enough for tonight I'll try again tomorrow. Thank you, good night

Thanks for all your hard work. I am really impatient for your next release. These fixes are really important and one m7 will be my daily driver for next few months .

Hey guyss,
I luv zuk z1 and i also install alll sorts of rom in my phone.
now when cynogen was shut i migrated from cm 13 to the nuclear rom 7.1. So presently i am using nuclear rom.
The problem is, if i now flash any other nougat rom such as Unofficial LineageOS 14.1 Nightlies,[OFFICIAL][7.1.1] Official Mokee,[UNOFFICIAL][7.1.1]Resurrection Remix-N v5.8.0-Zuk Z1
When i flashed these three roms the touch is not working
i wil explain, after falshing the first language setup screen appears then when we tap next the touch not working... but when hoding the power key the shutdown reebot option come.. then to shutdown if i touch on shutdown the screen goes and if touching some waht downward of shutdown it will shutdown
But i think it is not the issue of touch because after that i flashed cm 13 and nuclear rom again , no problem the touch works well
Anyone faced the issue ... pls help me
I am flashing it via Team Win

I had a similar issue, starting like you mentioned and becomes more and more. Then even in twrp no touch was working anymore. At the end it sent it back for warranty...
So Is it the problem with the touch screen .. ?

You're right. I mailed to the Hotline, it was long way but they did it
Okay, before anyone asks:
No you cannot flash this without a developer dock on your Ticwatch 2
MAKE A BACKUP
MAKE ANOTHER BACKUP
FOR GODS SAKE MAKE A FRIKKIN BACKUP
This is in no way, shape or form intended as a daily driver if you happen to be able to flash it
Things are broken, stuff is missing and many more undiscovered things are going to happen
THIS IS MAINLY A DEVELOPER RELEASE SO OTHERS CAN HELP!
Well now that's out of the way: Welcome to the first ever publicly released Android Wear 2 ROM for your Ticwatch 2!
As mentioned above this is mainly a download and playground for developers so far and not intended for use with daily driver Ticwatch 2's so far.
I will not provide any support in this thread whatsoever about this ROM as this is not my work. However I have been working together with another guy to make this even possible, tho he did all the coding/rewriting/magic to make this possible at all.
The initial dump came from my very own Ticwatch E and stuff was ported over to the Ticwatch 2 then, or at least we tried as good as we could. Stuff like vibration, microphone and the side tickle are still not working and need to be fixed, however due to missing drivers and their source code this wasn't possible yet. This is why we've decided to release what we have so far so other developers can hopefully jump in and help us here.
The Download comes with a Scatter file for the SP Flash Tool, however I won't provide any further instructions on how to use it or how to make a backup of your watch. I myself am too unskilled to do anything else than making a dump with that tool so the actual "porting-guy" (Luxios) was able to work with since he doesn't own a Ticwatch S/E.
DOWNLOAD --- Mirror
You can also download the FULL TICWATCH 2 ROM ZIP (or directly from Mobvoi) or download a TICWATCH 2 PARTITION DUMP (or a MIRROR available here). For your porting pleasure
"Some" instructions or infos so you won't have to figure them out anymore:
The Ticwatch 2 and Ticwatch S/E go into MediaTek flashing mode the moment you connect a turned off watch via USB
Here's a handy little diagram for the pinout on the back if you wanna try this
Please keep in mind that I'm unable to help you in any way, shape or form with all of this and I won't take responsibility for broken watches or shattered hopes and dreams! I haven't even flashed it myself onto my TW2 yet since my 3D printer and spring contacts didn't arrive yet. Once I have those 2 things I'll probably provide a file for you guys to download and print yourselves to make your very own dev dock
Anyways, have fun and I hope some of you guys can help us to make this awesome Ticwatch 2 finally run Android Wear in its finest form!
Good to see it.
Following....
Damm great man. Now i need to get myself a dev dock. Does anybody have any recommendations where to get this..
I've read somwhere of a guy who didn't used a dock but these little mini hooks, maybe that can help ?
You can make a quick version of the developer dock. It works.
I've added both the original dump and ROM from the Ticwatch 2 here now so you guys can get started Thanks already for your help!

I don't get how tho, they only have contacts on the opposite side as it should have. How does it make contact with the one on the TW2?
Some other great news TWRP is working on the Ticwatch E now!

So far there is nothing, we've literally only dumped the partitions from the Ticwatch E and you can flash them onto your 2 without any modifications. However once we have drivers we'll make them available tho.

Except microphone, vibration, the side tickle and prob something I'm forgetting right now everything should work. Basically you can use it daily already IF you want but we won't guarantee that it will since we haven't done anything to it yet except dumping and providing it. We did try to get those things to work but they require more tinkering.
Bad luck. It seems that my watch end up in boot loop after flashing this rom.
I have restore my backup.
Edit: Use twrp to wipe data, then it will boot.
