Default Camera Picture File Name - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, any way to change default filenames when i take a picture?
i want the pictures i take using my phone and tablet to have the same format.
at the moment nexus 10 uses IMG_xxxxxxxx_xxxxxx.jpg and my htc one s uses IMAGxxxx.jpeg
i want them all to use the same format so in the gallery i can just sort them using filename.

I believe the naming system is unique to each manufacturer. Only way I know of to unify naming scheme would be to use a third party camera app like Zoom FX on both devices. Plus it will take better pictures with all the extra functionality.

People tab, update pictures not possible

Coming from the fuze with the people tab i could update new people, remote people and change the picture for a person. With the htc pure and the new people tab it does not give me the update picture option.
as well when i put a new person without a picture it only lets me crop the picture and not use the entire picture. the only way around both issues was to change the pic using the windows mobile contacts tab and change the picture however it is not high resolution.
aside from deleting the contact and redoing it is there another way?

You should be able to delete or change your contact photo in "edit contact".
That does allow me to remove it appreciate that. Still though i would have hoped there was a way to use the full picture in manilla instead of cropping.

OTB WM vs Gingerbread 2.3.2 nand

Ok, before I installed Android GB 2.3.2 nand on my Windows Mobile HTC HD2 I could take a picture with the phones camera or use a picture via Text and set it as wallpaper and it would use the whole picture without distorting the image. With GB 2.3.2 this isn't so. The quality due to cropping instead of being able to use the image as it was has made the quality of the photo go down. Any fix for this? Settings, app, etc??? I'd like to be able to take a picture or use a existing photo and use it as my home screen wallpaper without losing the quality. The phones pages, icons, etc look very sharp.

MultiPic Live Wallpaper will use the whole image, and additionally you can set a different pic for each homescreen, have cool screen transitions, and a bunch more cool settings.
There's another app out there that will allow you to use the entire image, but sorry I can't remember what that one's called. But MultiPic LWP should do the trick for you.

[Q] Replace camera feed with static image

It's my first post here so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've had a look around these forums for any answer or clues but I couldn't find any so I'm making this thread.
Basically, is there a way/app to replace the video feed that the cameras sees, with a static image. So for example, if I were to us my nexus 7 camera now, rather than see what the camera should see (my ugly mug), its sees an image that I have preselected.
I'm using an app which requires me to hold the camera up to an object. The app then scans the image it's seeing to recognise if it's this particular object it's looking for.
You guessed it, I want to take a picture of this object and save it to my nexus. Then use this saved image to spoof onto the camera. So when the app accesses the camera feed, it see's the image. I guess you could liken it to ManyCam. This obviously would mean I don't have to keep holding my nexus 7 up to the object.
Sorry if that's a bad explanation!
By the way, I'm using a nexus 7 with 4.1.2. It's unlocked and rooted using the stock ROM.
If you are doing app development, why not use the emulator, as I seem to recall it allows you to set the image that the camera API uses (as obviously there is no camera hardware in the emulator.

[Q] Add Text to photos using built in photo editor?

Is there no option to add text (besides handwriting) to the photo editor built in the note 3?
Or is there another photo editor better than the built in?
Would it be possible to change the shortcut from the gallery to the built in photo editor to a 3rd party one?

Needs 3rd party I think, I've never messed to much with the editor. Try PicArt (or PicsArt) - you should be able to add it, although if you're rooted I think you can add different filters/options to the camera (XNOTE 12 offers this at least)

Thanks for the suggestion.
Just wondering why Samsung missed out that part.
Im rooted, is there a way to change the default editing program?
When you open a photo it should ask you which you wanna choose to open it with.
Open via your file explorer to get the option.

Gallery crop and draw

Coming from a Samsung s5 I'm used to being able from the photo gallery to crop and draw on photos. Now with the standard photos app I don't see these functions. Am I missing something, or do I now need another app? Recommendations?

I don't draw on my pics, but have seen a few that allow this....Just search for gallery and read the features. I've tried about 25 different ones to find one I like and I always come back to QuickPic . Has several great editing tools......But I always have a 2nd (besides Google Photo's) with more editing options. This 2nd one changes all the time and I keep hoping I'll find an "all-in-one" gallery that will let me only keep one. Many people will recommend the CM gallery, I really like it but it has no option to "hide" a folder. So if you have 300 albums, each in their own folder, you can' t automatically hide them - You have to add some sort of "no media" tag to each folder (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Another one I like, is a new one that I thing has potential.... It's called: A+ Gallery Photos & Videos (by AtomicADD Team)
Another couple I liked were:
FOTO Gallery (by LADYBUG)
Gallery (by Flayvr Media, Ltd.)
Piktures was another one I used for a while, you might check it out too.
You can always delete them if you don't like them.
Thanks, I was hoping for a few suggestions rather than the try a whole bunch to see approach. I checked the play store and hoped to whittle it down to a few contenders.
