[L7] Problem with USB connectivity / drivers - Optimus L3, L5, L7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I'm having some problems with connecting my P700 over USB. I have the official JB ROM now.
On my desktop computer, when I connect my L7, nothing happens. The phone starts charging (slowly) and nothing else happens.
I have installed/uninstalled the USB drivers several times, tried every connection mode, used different cables, and still no connection.
BUT my phone connects fine to my laptop computer, I just installed the driver and it works good.
The laptop has Windows7 32-bit, the desktop Windows 8 64-bit.
Is there anything I can try for the connection to work on my desktop without formatting it? Please help me. I've ran out of ideas....:crying:
Thanks

The steps are good, you have to make sure you are in USB Debugging and connected for LG Software.
If your phone is not detected and there is no attempt to search/install drivers automatically by your PC, try installing the drivers in attachment. Now restart your PC and try again, it worked for me, hope it does for you.

I had the same trouble,I connected my phone with Lg software, it auto downloaded driver and installed

Is MTP activated? Go check in Settings>Storage, touch the three dot overflow and go to "USB Computer Connection". Make sure MTP is checked. You can also try PTP mode too. Good luck!

You have to install LG L7 driver on PC too. I think the name is "LG PC suit" or "LG mobile update"

For those who can't connect with Kies

After half an hour trying I have just found a working solution how to connect your SGS in Kies. Here is the deal:
Start Kies, put phone's USB settings in Kies mode. Connect your phone to the PC. Wait until MTP App show "Connected". Go to your PC's Device manager, find Portable Devices and select Disable on GT-I9000. Do not wait for the disabling process to be completed, just disconnect the USB cable. Now connect the USB cable again, wait the MTP App on the phone to show you the message "Connected" and choose Enable on GT-I9000 in Device Manager. After a few seconds your phone should be ready in Kies
I tried this both on x86 and x64 Windows 7 and it works for me.
I hope this will help! And I hope there isn't another thread with this solution. If there is - I'm sorry
i cant wait to get home and try this... another 10h to go
but if this helps ur a geniues

Will put this in the FAQ if we have some confirmations for its effectiveness
when i first bought my phone it worked with kies, but after flashing it to a different firmware there was nothing i could do to get it to connect. i had deleted drivers, re-installed, etc etc but nothing worked. what ended up working was putting the phone in download mode, plugging in the usb to both phone and pc, then putting the phone into recovery mode, and as soon as the recovery menu popped up my device was recognized and the correct drivers were reinstalled and all was fine again

If you still have this problem, please try my method and tell me if it works
I had issues and I also tried this method. But it didn't help
Last thing I tried was to format the internal SD. That did the trick for me....
The biggest problem with getting the phone to connect to Kies is two fold:
1) MTP application will ONLY launch from the home screen (touchwiz screen). NOT from any app. drawer / launcher screen
2) If USB mode on the phone is set to Ask on Connection, MTP won't launch due to the USB app. being open (see 1) above)
If you set USB to Kies mode and then ensure you are on the home screen of the phone with nothing else running, Kies WILL connect
Also remember the 16+ size extension bug.
So a full wipe on ur I internal sd card is a good solution just make sure u back it up tour hdd
I also did a "Driver recovery" from Kies and it worked after that. Although MTP driver failed to install for me in this case.
Make sure to update to the latest version of Kies ( Now 1.5.1.0074.45 ) as this version seems far more reliable when connecting the phone
I recently discovered that the culprit of Kies continuously trying to connect to phone was caused by wrong MTP driver selected.
Under WinXP
After phone connected in Kies Mode..Go to Device Manager/Portable device..
If you see a device labeled as "MTP xxx or Portable device.." ,wrong MTP driver or older driver has been used..For my case, a Microsoft 2004 MTP driver was selected.
To fix it.
1) Do a manual driver update..for my case ,i let the driver wizard to search automatically..this round, another newer Microsoft driver was found..in fact 2 of them.. after installing the drivers(Microsoft 2006 MTP driver,2 are listed..). .Now Device Manager/Portable device listed "GT-i9000" ,Kies immediately found my phone.
Driver name that worked are "wpdusb.sys" and "wudfrd.sys" found under \windows\System32\drivers\..

You must not understand English. The entire reason I posted a comment was to share how I overcame this issue, so that would mean I no longer have this issue
Probable Fix for Kies
Friends,
I have also faced the same problem (while connecting my SGS via Kies MTP was crashing). It used to work earlier so I started to remove Applications and data in the reverse order of Installation. After I removed "Dolphin Browser HD" and all saved bookmarks it started working.
This may be a probable solution if you also have Installed Dolphin Browser.
~Gaurav
India.
2 different issues.
MTP crashing on phone is independent from Kies on PC cant detect phone.
i couldnt use kies either but i wasnt worried as i hardly have free time now..
this was a simple fix and now it workes perfectly for me.
sorry about the late replay.
thanks
I'm glad that it works for you

try #9 on

You might be interested in my little APK (SGS Toolbox). I first created it to have it read the product code from the nv_data file to allow you to check whether it has been modified after a firmware update. But now I added some extra options, of which one is the option to check whether there are new firmware updates available in KIES by issuing the same request KIES does when checking for new firmware. This way you don't have to connect your phone to your computer all the time to check for new updates in KIES. Note: It sends JM1 as the current firmware version to find the latest. I might send the actual phone's firmware version once I figured out how to find it. See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=778244
Thanks, I'll give it a try

[Q] TF101 doesn't connect with PC through USB

Hi guys,
After upgrading to ICS I've been unable to connect my pad to the PC. This is usually not a problem, but last night I needed adb to re-root it. Nothing worked, nothing connected. Tried installing drivers and the Asus sync, but no luck.
Is this a known problem? Anyone got a solution? I doubt it's the hardware as I connected a few days before upgrading...
Found a solution. Went into Settings->Storage and turned MTP off and back on.

THANK YOU! Everytime I plug in my ET4G to the dock to charge it that stupid MTP crap always comes up. Had no idea I could disable it. Thanks!
yeah, this doesn't always help... I had the same problem when i first got my TF101, and i tried all the tricks, the one mentioned here with mtp, enabling and desabling debug mode, turning off and on with usb plugged in, and some others i can't remember... nothing.
In case anyone else is looking for the answer and the quick tips don't work, what did it for me was installing Android Revolution HD rom. I've read that this problem could also be bootloader related.
Anyways, cheers.
How to connect an ICS device to your computer
Step 1. Connect device to computer via USB
Step 2. Set USB connection as Media Device (MTP) (p.s. if you use a Mac you need to download Android File Transfer)
Step 3. Disable USB debugging if enabled
I hope this helped.
when you need turn off MTP it mean your computer doesn't have driver.
If you need using MTP go to asus page and download driver. it's easy to install driver ^^...
recently I can't understand why same file but the computer at my office can't install that file instead other computers working normal... maybe my work place using old windows version...
Like I wrote earlier - mine was actually in MTP mode, but I had to switch to camera mode and back to MTP for it to start working. Thanks for the replies, though. Hopefully it will help some other people with the same problems

TMobile G2 cant connect to PC over wire

So, I cant seem to be able to connect my G2 to the PC via USB cable. I get "usb device not recognized" error, and when looking for the device via LGPC Suite, it says driver not installed and attempts to re-install the driver to no avail. Im using Win 7 64 bit. Here's what Ive done to attempt to fix it:
Tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the driver and LGPC Suite in my normal user account and in admin admin account.
Redownloaded both driver and LGPC Suite and doing the above.
Tried 3 different USB cables.
Tried 2 different USB ports.
Yes, Im changing the connection options on the phone from MTP and LG Software.
Phone charges normally over USB.
I *can* however connect to LGPC Suite via wifi successfully.
Any ideas? Im stumped.

Sorry for bumping old thread, but have you found a solution? I found my self in exactly same situation as you describe.
Phone is in LG Software mode
LG Suite can find the phone over Wi-fi, other modes work through USB.
Tried on two different computers, with win7/win8 respectively.
Stock EU ROM, just bought it.
Tried different USB ports.
Yet PC doesn't recognize it :/
EDIT: Never mind, solved it by following the following instructions in another thread:

You must be on 64 bit windows. Not even on 64bit, Still try this...
1) Uninstall LG Drivers, LG PC Suite and anything you see named LG. Restart PC.
2) Install latest LG Driver from this post (step 4)
3) Install Optional MTP Driver from this post (step 4)
4) Open Windows Device Manager (just to watch whats happening.)
5) Disconnect Internet (To avoid stupid online WDM drivers)
6) Connect phone with Usb and let drivers install automatically. Give it some time to install drivers keeping watch on Device Manager window.
7) Keep changing USB connect modes to all modes one-by-one on Phone and let drivers install.
You should see MTP drivers installed now. If this does not help, cant think of anything else. If this works, press THANKS button
EDIT: Connect USB at backside of pc, directly to USB on pc motherboard.

MTP Mode not working

Hey,
So I got my D802 today and I want to do the whole Root, Recovery, ROM shenanigans.
But for the love of god I cant connect the phone in MTP mode, so I cant Root, nor install a recovery.
I cant connect to the LG PC Suite either.
Any Ideas?
what connection type are u choosing after plugging it into the computer? are u running Windows, Mac, Linux? Windows will work with mtp out of the box but I think Mac and Linux need phone drivers installed. Windows will need drivers when you're ready to "unlock" using adb.

Right, so I´m running Win7 64 Bit
I tried multiple USB Ports, rebooting PC and Phone, resetting Phone and now i´m all out of ideas
I never had any problems with the other phones I rooted and unlocked on this Computer

when you first plug in your phone it gives you the option to install the drivers needed to connect in the different modes, if not on the top right corner of the menu with charge/mtp/pc software it should have the option to install the drivers

you never said what connection type you're choosing on the phone after plugging it in. there are a few options and change how the phone is seen by Windows. some options won't have it display as an mtp device or as a drive letter in my computer.

Really Weird
I'm having the same issue. I'm running OptimusG3 v1.3, I've never had an issue with it before, I used MTP to transfer files yesterday, worked flawlessy, now it won't. I was trying to map the G2 as a network drive, I installed LGPCSuite, a couple of other software that should be inconsequential, and suddenly my phone says connected as MTP, but my laptop won't recognize or show the device in My Computer. I get installing device drivers prompts, I used the hardware and devices troubleshooter which told me 'LGE Android MTP Device has a driver problem' and LGE Mobile USB Modem has a driver problem. Reinstall device driver -> completed, but still not fixed. I installed LG's universal uSB tool or whatever, no fix. I have no idea wth is up (It's not a USB debugging accidental toggle either). I'll try uninstalling PCSuite. I though it would be more useful

Reformat computer or try different computer
Assuming, you have no problem with your USB port, USB cable, installed latest LG USB Driver 4.0.4, running Windows 7 or 10...
We need more detailed info from your part to tackle this problem. Are you running on stock rom, kitkat or lollipop? Are your rooted and do you have TWRP recovery?
Then, you need to disable "USB debugging" from the "Developer options" menu. Then replug your USB cable and you can now select MTP instead of charging only mode. Good luck.

i have fought the no mtp problem and everytime i lost. if you try new things they just dont work. what has worked was to reformat computer then it will work..
I had the same problem with my G2. Unknown usb device, and the error was: "unable to get device descriptor" or something similar. Tried all software solution without success, so i have started to looking for hardware defect. I've changed the usb module, but no success. So, as a last chance, tried another mainboard. And "tadaaaa"... That was the problem. So, start to look for a working g2 with cracked screen, as i did.
