AllianceROM i9100 JB kernel discussion - Galaxy S II General

Hello.
I make this thread Instead of having a constant discussion about kernels in the AllianceROM thread. The ROM i currently use with a smile.
This: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2037363
So when someone ask about kernel in that thread, just link this.
So lets us begin :good:
I use Phenomenal intensive Kernel at the moment. So far good battery life and awesome speed. Really fast and responsive.
For some unknown reason i get more battery drain with Extreme. Will update if Dev is fixing it. (If the kernel need fixing, can be my phone)
Phenomenal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601520
For some reason the newest are on page page 119 and not in OP.
What Kernel do you use and why?

Thanks, i did not know that. I have never purchased an app so. But those for free is working fine.

I had philz kernel since 7.02, tolerable battery life ( about 3 hours screen on, data on, 20 hours cicle) and not so fast UI responsiveness.
Now I'm trying new hirox 5.7 speedmod kernel (medium) and wow in the first cicle it has already better battery life! And is even faster than philz kernel. Try it : )

I'm on dorimanx 8.12 now. Stock vid no work but that's a standard. ink lock is running very nice. Had freeze with 8.11.1 on this. Ota don't work. Battery so far is very good. Hammered this phone for three hrs and only lost 7% . That's good. No sods no lock ups
Edit: ink is now stuffed. Other than that its OK 24.ish hrs later. No sod

[I9001]{kernel discussion}[3.0.x]

So leaving the Dev thread for development, I've opened this thread to discuss test releases of kernel 3.0.x
For the mean time I have compiled kernel 3.0.52 by arco68/ivendor using arco68 repo on 21/11/2012.
For use with any jellybean rom.
View attachment 3.0.52_CM10_TEST4.zip
Bugs so far:
Camera not working
Usb not working
Occasional soft reboot. Very rare.
...
Goods:
Stable
Faster than previous kernel 2.6.x
Gaming performance
...
Important note: this kernel is experimental, it comes with no guarantees at all. Flash it under your own responsibility.

Yes, that's for sure... I Always ended going back to GB after testing many ICS roms but not now if it keeps stable and battery friendly.
Are you using it as a daily?
I will test battery for a day and see..
I can always use USB mass storage going to recovery, it had always been faster when copying big files, so not a big issue.

Yep im going to use it as my daily driver now. Its very stable.
USB is not that important to me, I can use ftp via WiFi or as you mentioned via recovery.
Maybe someone can make weekly updates about the kernel from Arcos source.

I'm flashing the kernel....now. I want to experience the bullet..
Here some battery usage on standby over the night compared to previous kernel.

Performance is much better but the wifi doesn t work on camcory s pacman rom. I read it before and confirmed it.
How about project butter?
This kernel is very fast and smooth, random reboots are rare, but I think that when our great devs finish working on it, it will be awesome! So we have to wait...
P.S. It would be great if camera and usb work
made a new test kernel, hopefully wifi will work with all jellybean roms, including all by camcory

I recommend the stock kernel, but so far I've also tried out the Fusion kernel and I must say, it boosts the battery life significantly.
Recommended settings:
OC to 1.2Ghz.
Boost Min CPU value to 200mhz

Bugs found so far:
For anybody wondering about any bugs found in the Cyanogenmod builds so far, I can say with relative certainty that there're virtually no bugs, aside from the fact that the built in HDMI feature doesn't work. But that's a given seeing as to how most ROMS have the same problem.

yes, everything what u said is true, but i would say that users that wont a faster device should raise min frequency not max because device is much more responsive if min freq. is set to about 200-300 mhz, so no need for OC.

And this should go in the General section, right? Since this is not any form of development.

CyberGR 4.0 (direct download)

KelLMSKing MIUI
Other 2 roms based on CM7.2 --> MokeeOS and JoyOS by ChaosChris
Kernel
Franco's kernel 12_08 touchwake - deep idle - oc and live oc - bln - blx
Lucid kernel 3.0 b- touchwake - bln - no oc - only liveoc - uv
Lucid kernel 3.0 y - touchwake - bln - no oc - only liveoc - uv

Launcher
Smart Launcher HERE is an alternative launcher, with only 7mb of ram usage an 2mb of storage. Very fast and useful; just for me.
GAPPS - 20121127
my config: cm7 - Franco's kernel - all the plug-in.
why I prefer to GB? because it hasn't gpu acceleration, the boot is much fuster, it doesn't have the isseues that i had with JB (sometimes the keyboard didn't feet the screen, the contacts numbers appeared with seconds of delay),my phone reaches 1300 of OC and LiveOc without freeze or high battery drain (goooood for game!), and finally it is MORE STABLE!
do you want see my benchmark? HERE
My OC Config? 1200 mhz max - 100 mhz min - 104% Live oc (1248mhz-104mhz) - ondemand - deadline
My Volt? 1450 Max arm - 1375mV for 1200mhz - 1250mV for 1000mhz .... the other voltages are stock.
When a JB rom (and i tried a lot of those!) will have this features, i will upgrade my nexus, for now i'm very happy with the old good Gingerbread.
You can find all the projects in my GDrive area, so, if a link on xda will die in future, the rom/kernel are alive.
if you have other good and old rom or kernel post it in this thread, so i will add it!
Do you want Gingerbread but you don't like Gingerbread style? Renew your GB experience with Roboto Font and ICS themes!
Go to PLUG-IN & GAPPS in my GDrive Area and download Robotofonts.ttf - ICS Lockscreen (make slide unlock black and implement RingLock) and HERE for ICS THEME (for theme chooser)

Would have been nice if my launcher fix got credited and not renamed... you know, since I did it.
Same for the ROM file names, renaming them won't help people find them as easily when using a search engine. Just a heads up.

For filename, I don't think that the original file name will help users, however I will rename those zip. :highfive:

It's just that these zips were named like that originally. Someone looking for those will likely try to search for the original filename rather than a random one, and it helps the search engine index it if it's tied to something already searched "often". It's up to you, simply a heads up. =)
And yes, the fix is mine. Did it for lurtis.

Thank you very much faux, nice to see you here on the Find5 forums, you are one of the best hands down! I have used your kernels in just about every device I own, and have purchased your apps, they are great.
Any plans in the future to do a 4.2.x kernel for us users who use custom roms?
5 stars for faux!!!
Edit Flashed Kernel - Everything is working fine on my device, no issues at all. Just to remind some people that may not know this kernel will not show the best synthetic benchmarks results but its a performer! It will perform just as good as any kernel that benches really high in benchmarking, so if your scores are not crazy high, don't worry, go read about why this is. Faux has a complete read up on why this is, the main thing is that your device will run smooth all around and you will get better battery life along with great performance. Just because you don't get 25000 when running an antutu or any other benchmarking test does not mean anything when it comes to this kernel, from my experience, its all about user performance with faux's kernel. Thats my experience anyways.
Thanks again faux!!!

Glad to see your kernel for the find 5. Get my device tomorrow and cant wait for flashing your kernel.
For some reason it wont let me rate this thread, I don't understand why? But it deserves 5 stars I really like your kernels faux, I use them on my devices that you support and bought all your apps. I just hope that someday I will get to fully use your kernel on my Find5 with Custom Roms :fingers-crossed:
Five stars for faux!!! Thank you!!!
everything is ok, thank
trying beta 5 :highfive:

This rom is so good but why so few posts in my opinion this is the best of all the roms posted by PolishVodka i love it because it has really good and useful feaures i recommend to use this gapps http://d-h.st/oqz
im currently using it with abbysplug + sio and it feels smooth with great battery life :good:
My review of the slimbean 4.3.1 by Polish Vodka:
1. Smoothest of the lot. Feels marginally smoother than the hybrid CM11 and omni 4.3
2. Visible lags nearly absent.
3. Comes with cool features like slimpie, navigation bar, slim file manager and other interface options. Apex launcher is the default.
4. What's working fine: GPS, Video recording, Wi-fi tethering, youtube, Wi-fi, bluetooth etc.
5. even network mode toggle seems to be working fine for me.
6. No In-call volume bug.
7. MTP working
8. No sound issues and other bugs found in Polish Vodka ROMs
9. Camera is great as compared to some other ROMs but panorama is still laggy.
10. Youtube is still somewhat pixellated.
Not tested: Wi-fi direct.
Battery life: simply great or as good as omni. Idle battery drain is very very slow.
PS- THE ROM IS A KEEPER.
GREAT ROM. Would love to see you port more stuff for our device! :good::good::good:
slimkat can be fantastic :good:
