[How To] Create your own QMG boot animations [must be rooted] - Galaxy S III General

Reproduced with kind permission by xessus
Hi everyone, this is my guide to create extension .QMG files used by Samsung to storage images & animations like bootanimation and shutdown animation.
ok lets kick it!
Software required:
Samsung theme Designer http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Others/Samsung-Theme-Designer.shtml
(7zip, winrar, winzip) http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Root Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=en

Note: you will need your full animation sequence frame by frame in 720X 1280(Samsung Galaxy S3) resolution and named with numeric sequence example: Image_000.png, image_001.png, image_002.png, etc.
1.- Open Samsung Theme Designer and create new theme, use type "feature(NonTouch) phone", then "select model" and use any model and "select Showcase" use default, name your theme.
2.- Chose "Idle Component" then "Idle Background" and change "Background Type" to "animated", select "frame" the qty. of frames your animation have, example 62 "Duration" = delay in seconds so 0 means no delay and each second it will delay same time between frames, "Repeat" true/false chose true if you want to create a loop animation or false in case you only want to play a single cycle.
3.- Drag your image files sequence from your folder to the empty squares in the bottom of the theme designer (pay no attention to the canvas it is smaller than your images)
4.- Now export your theme and accept the Samsung terms & conditions and wait for your .STM file theme.
5.- Rename the .STM file to .ZIP file and open it
6.- Copy the "IdleBgAnimObj.qmg" (Idle Background Animation Objet) to your desktop.
7.- Rename it to: bootanimation.qmg or shutdown.qmg as you required
the route for your file in the stock rom is:
bootanimation: system/media
shutdown: system/media/video/shutdown
And that's it, easy isn't? no scripts!

Re: [How To] Create your own boot animations that work on stock kernel [must be root
A word of caution, limit your final sizes to around 4-5mb, otherwise the system may not load it, more testing is required on this limitation

So I'm basically wondering if I should create this tutorial for you?
It would allow you to create your own qmg animations to replace the ones on your phone, this will also allow you to create your own battery animations ect
What makes this different to other boot animation solutions is it allows you to change animations using stock kernel, as the files are in native format, only root is required to access system folder where boot animation is located
If there's interest in this, just post a request here and I'll put it up

A query regarding QMG does editing this file system not require the very expensive tool from Quram /Samsung .That is what has prevented stock boot animation editing for years .Although i am aware of one who did mod a QMG file on SGS1 .

Great question:good: I was thinking this
Would also like to see the tutorial as it would make life easier

Re: [How To] Create your own boot animations that work on stock kernel [must be root
We can't modify Qmg files but we can create them for free, okay ill post it later today, seems like it hasn't been done on s3 which makes it worth my time.

Thats interesting ,
I actually have a created SGS2 QMG boot animation only one i ever came across .

Yeah that's why I posted this here, seems like it was needed

Fantastic. I will be giving this a go later tomorrow

nice guide :good:
just what i need
but you really have to give this guy some credits for that

^I believe this is the original thread :|

Hello All,
Thanks to OP "omnikam"
after many tries and reflashing multiple times, i was not able to change to custom boot animation.
I had tried CWM boot animation Enable/Disable as well.
it was working with the ones which were posted somewhere, but not the ones which i had manually created.
now, after giving up with the DESC.txt and Part0 and Part1 method,
i found this link of current post, and i thought why not give it a try.
so i followed all the instructions and WOW!!
it worked smoothly.
Key points to remember:
1> if CWM custom boot animation is Enabled, then this wont work
2>you have to turn off the Custom boot animation to Disable.
3>you have to rename the bootanimation.qmg to bootsamsung.qmg [bcoz i am on stock rom 4.1.2 JB and rooted]
4>same with shutdown, it has to be renamed to shutdown.qmg file.
my make and model:
Samsung GT- I9300
I9300XXELLC_I9300ODDEMA2_INS
rooted with CWM and SuperSU
also the Auto Call recording works fine SecPhone.apk
I have used "S3_SecPhone_CallAutoRecord_deOdex" it also works fine.
can someone suggest on how do i post the video of my boot and shutdown, i know the option of recording via handycam/ videocam.
any other way?? pls suggest
1 question:
how to get rid of the SAMSUNG animation post boot animation, i guess part2 which stays for around 4-6 seconds, i didnt want to risk,
bcoz i am not aware if it loop settings are 0 / or ?
any help or suggestion please.
Thanks to XDA forum.
Nitin Kushwaha

Tried this a few times now. Doesn't work.

I wanted to get rid of that garish Verizon LTE start animation and replace it with something more subtle (and less attention grabbing if you're in the middle of a meeting when you start your phone).
Created the new qmg file just fine, but still doesn't seem to work on Galaxy Note 2 (Verizon). Rooted/stock ROM. Maybe the GN2 is using an updated version of qmg?? Who knows.
Oh well, great post anyhow.

Garbage program...nice job Samsung. Freezes and force closes every 2 minutes. Leave it to Windblows.

+1
just heard the thanks button click

Don't do it before reading this
just wanted to say, this is a great tutorial and it does work, however i think you should all be warned that this tripped my binary and flash counter on the T999L and i haven't looked to see if Triangle Away is safe to reset the flash counter and binary status on my device without bricking it, it should be fine but until DocHolliday77 and I have finished our work on the stock firmware for odin for the T999L i won't be trying it, or if someone else beats us to it then i will try but im not getting stuck on a T999 Rom because there is no way to restore the T999L firmware when bricked. i know thats not a big issue for most, but its a huge issue for me to be tripped to modified binary and a flash count of 1 simply for replacing the stock boot animation, and no i tried deleting your custom boot animation and reinstalling the orginal does not change it back, i am now stuck with my flash counter set at 1 and my binary set at modified until i can find if the reset in Triange Away is safe for the T999L or not.

As this is the I9300/I9305 forum the above post does not apply .
We know the method works on I9300 but other phones some problems it appears with QMG .
jje

I need help, somehow on my S3 it shows nothing. I made it like this thread says.
http://puu.sh/3Vor9.png
After that Export Theme -> Open the file with Winrar -> extract the IdleBgAnimObj.qmg -> renamed it to bootsamsung.qmg and to shutdown.qmg, none shows. Any help please? D=
Or can someone make me a Bootanimation out of these pictures? Would be nice

In Samsung Theme Designer
how to i set the duration? or how do i get the animation to play in normal speed?
its always to fast!!

Thanks a lot for this!

[Q] Transformer back/home buttons

Does anyone know if it'd be possible to edit the back/home/recent buttons to be the same as the ones from the Transformer? I see in the Xoom forum someone mentioned editing the SystemUI apk, which I don't have experience doing (don't mind a tutorial if someone can point me to one). I'm on the 3.1 Acer_A500_3.019.03_COM_GEN1 release that was posted recently if that helps.
What is so nice about them! Screenhot/pic?
Ya, I hate the Transformers version of those buttons. Much prefer Acers - which, I understand, are stock HC.
Dexter's 3.1 ROM use the Asus icons.

I'm actually using this ROM and I don't like the ASUS icons. I tried fixing it using root explorer by replacing the APK file I found in the Asus forum and it would crash on boot forcing me to wipe.
Can someone post the file I need to make this work? A CWM zip file would be best since i'm weary about using root explorer to do this.
I edited my buttons about a week ago. It went smoothly though I didn't flash a zip file but rather replaced the png files in the systemUI.apk
It's pretty straight forward; I just used es file explorer and 7zip. If you're interested I can post a quick tutorial when I get back home.
Btw, you sure you want to change them to the transformer icons? They're pretty ugly.

It seem like a simple copy and paste, but a tutorial would be great.
If I were to make my own buttons entirely, would it be easier to do it this way or make it flashable. This seems easier though.
Completely forgot about getting back to this thread, sorry. Yeah, simple paste will do; rename the original systemUI.apk file just in case you want to go back to stock.
As always, you do this at your own risk, blah blah!!! Please read and understand what you are doing before trying this!
The 3 programs I used to do this: 7zip, ES File Explorer(on Tab) and Photoshop (You can use whatever you want). I have not looked into making flashable zips so this way was just easier for me.
1. Open Es File Explorer (free from market) on your Tablet and access settings options > check mark 'Root Explorer' and then check 'Mount File System' as writable.
2. Now within Es File Exp navigate to System/App/ There you will find the file you need to mod named 'SystemUI.apk' Copy it by long pressing on the file and select copy.
3. Now that it's copied, place the file somewhere on your sd card or anywhere else so you can copy it to your computer.
4. Once on your computer, Use 7zip right click and 'Open Archive'. The files you want are in res/drawable-mdpi/ so now find the specific icons you want to mod and copy them to a place where you can work on them with your choice of graphics editor (ie photoshop). Note that the bottom icons are in sets of 2 (standard icon and pressed icon). The icons referenced should start with 'ic_sysbar...'.
5. After modding your icons, 'Open archive' on the SystemUI.apk again and simply drag and drop your new icons into res/drawable-mdpi/ (Do not change the name of the files!) The file is now ready to be put back on the Tablet.
6. Copy the modded SystemUI.apk file onto your tab somewhere you'll know where to find it.
7. Using ES File Exp navigate back to System/App to file your original SysemUI.apk rename it something like SystemUI.apk.bak so you can go back to it if you want to later. This should cause your Tab to crash immediately upon completion. Don't freak out!
8. Hold down the power button to reboot your Tab.
9. After booting up, note your menu bar on the bottom has disappeared. No problem just press your Apps menu in the top right hand corner and open up ES File Exp. Locate and copy your modded SystemUI.apk into System/App/ Now back out and reboot.
10. Enjoy your new icons.
If you want to go back to stock, just rename your stock SystemUI file back to normal and kill the modded one you made.
If any questions let me know. Hope you find it helpful!
Check it out... I've been playing with swapping out a few of icons.
Home/Back/RecentApps and the Wifi icons. Also did a couple of backgrounds (2nd pic). Still playing around, I want to mod the battery meter to the circle battery meter with percentage.

If you're interested, upload your SystemUI.apk and I can mod it for you. You would just have to follow the instructions on my previous post to install.
I also figured out the Circle Battery % in framework-res thanks to MagnusRagnarok (Thanks!).
If anyone else is interested, I can do it for them as well. Just let me know.
I plan on making a few different mods so if there is enough interest I'll start a new thread of Themes for A500's (maybe).
NinjaMorph on the market will save many of the steps and you can make the mods right on your tab. Just have the replacement icons on your SD card.
Overview
i went and downloaded a ton of those cubed icon's where/ what file do i need to put them to get them to work by default on my tab without having to use a DIFF launcher? inside the apks for the apps or is there something somewhere else??
Followed you instructions but....

[HOWTO]More smooth scroll & volume step increase for MOST android phones[Poweramp OK]

[HOWTO]More smooth scroll & volume step increase for MOST android phones[Poweramp OK]
※Do this when you completely understand this.
This is not for people who are noob to phone and computer things.
This is a framework.jar mod which will affect on overall scrolling and volume steps.
I've searched through several references and found some modification.
By following steps below, you will modify your rom's framework.jar.
And it will make your phone's volume control more precise and scroll to be more smooth.
Some phones may have different structure in framework.jar so I'm not sure.
(I've tested this on HTC desire and Motorola Atrix. I'm an Atrix user.)
Ok, so here's everything you need before start.
1. framework.jar of your phone. (Deodexed ROM needed)
2. Java software Development Kit
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-7u2-download-1377129.html
3. smali/baksmali tool (Thanks to the Korean guy, 'vorcot')
http://api2.ge.tt/0/9LvgHdB/0/blob/download
4. Text editor - Window basic text editor can be used..but I recommend Notepad++
http://notepad-plus-plus.org/
5. Program which can extract .jar file. (I prefer 7zip)
6. File manager which can access to phone's internal system.
(Like root explorer)
7. Your rom's original zip under SDcard for in case of bootloop.
A. Basic steps.
1. Unzip the smali/baksmali tool to certain folder and put the framework.jar in same folder.
2. Run baksmali manager.bat.
3. Select framework.jar by pressing 4 -> 2 in main menu.
4. Press 1 to Baksmali the framework.jar.
5. Wait.
6. Make it sure that new 'framework' folder is created and files inside it. (Don't close the baksmali manager window yet!)
B. Modification Steps
Volume steps mod
- Since I saw some people are complaining about android's volume control is jumping to large amount, I made some mod.
This will adjust your phone volume steps.

Sorry for not showing you by English, but you can recognize the media volume counts increased from 15 to 30.
Here's what you have to modify:
1. Open the framework/android/media/AudioService.smali with text editor.
2. Press Ctrl + F to open the search window and serch for 'max_'
3. Continue search until you find the line below.
4. You can see the 'array_1ba' in screenshot. This may vary for roms. (But usually only '1ba' changes.)
This will lead you to data of max volume.
Search for 'array_1ba' again.
5. You will see like this:
This data's meaning is same with this. (From CM7 source)
6. So if you want modify your music or movie volume, you have to modify 4th line's 'f'.
(This 'f' means 15 by hexadecimal number)
If you use bluetooth, modify 7th line too.
I changed 'f' to '1e', which means 30 in hexadecimal number.
7. Press the text editor's save button if you finished.
Smooth scroll mod
Add - This tweak will be included in CM7 officially. Editing smali manually will not needed.
So you can find the option in performance setting. Thanks cyanogenmod team!
(But other stock based roms still can do this like 'Sense','Blur','Touchwiz',etc)
- Some android applications have some lag when they scroll.
I found in logcat that garbage collector is working to much when I do some scroll in application.
I googled about it and found the 'scrollingcache' function inside android making problem.
Some application developers recommend disable 'scrollingcache' in app's internal config.
But not all applications have disabled scrollingcache.
So the mod I'll do will disable the scrollingcache throughout the Android OS.
All apps will have no problem with scrollingcache.
I've had scrolling improvements with facebook, playerpro, poweramp, gallery apps , etc.
It is simillar with volume step mod but different value to change.
Here's what you have to modify:
1. Open the framework/android/widget/AbsListView.smali with text editor.
2. Search through 'ScrollingCache' and change it like below screenshot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Press the text editor's save button if you finished.
C. Finishing steps.
1. Come back to baksmali manager window.
2. Press 2 to smali.
3. Wait. (It will create classes.dex file after finish)
4. Open the framework.jar file with 7zip.
5. Overwrite the classes.dex file inside the framework.jar.
(You can just drag&drop the classes.dex file to 7zip window.)
D. Installing steps.
1. Put modified framework.jar to your phone's sdcard.
2. Open the phone's file manager which have root access and copy the modified framework.jar to /system.
3. Set permission to rw-r--r-- or like this:
4. Move it to /system/framework. (Select yes for overwrite.)
5. Reboot.
I've used a lot of time for searching this.
You can use this for your own rom but please tell me before you use it.
And any bug reports or impressions will be appriciated.
Enjoy
EDIT - Some people are complaining about volume mod that it is not working with poweramp.
You can use it by changing your setting.
Power Amp settings - Audio Engine - Advanced Tweaks - Uncheck 'Direct Volume Control'
This will solve the problem.
This info is by 'wd2347' from Korean Atrix forum.
Nice work! :-D
Also, in case of a boot loop, just a backup of the modded file should be OK.

Thank you so much! It is working perfect!

It needs to be 0x1et. The compile will fail if you use 0x1e. Without a "t" its an invalid array.

The scrolling mod is super... everything seems to scroll very smooth now.. no stuttering.
The audio mod didn't work correctly on the AT&T SGSII (SGH-I777) though. It stepped through volume increments of 0-30 (instead of 0-15) as your mod depicts, but the volume level max'd out a 15 and reset to "0" at 16. My AudioService.smali didn't have 'array_1ba'. Only an 'array_12'.
I'm happy the scrolling worked well though. Thanks for the mod... nice work!

Wow..... I wasn't expecting much from the smoother scrolling and I've so far only tested on the xda app but I must say I'm impressed with how I can fling it straight to the bottom of the page without it lagging which I couldn't do on my crappy htc wildfire before.

Yes, but I'm not 100% sure. Scrolling overall seems smoother... no stuttering in apps that previously did. I moded gtg's v2.2.1 unnamed framework.jar with the scroll mod only and posted it in his ROM thread (post 3868). I'm hoping to get some feedback on it. Not much so far. I may have to put it out on its own thread and see what happens. Maybe you can try the mod out in your ROM?
Will try this later when I got to my PC. What is the theme you use, BTW?

Seems like a nice little tool for tweaking ROMs a bit. Hopefully you can add more features in the future, but even as it is, it should be handy for anyone who wants to tweak ROMs a little bit. By my understanding, it should allow the removal of preinstalled rubbish from stock ROMs, right?
I see you are using Ionic.Zip.dll the same one I used in Droid Manager for creating Custom Roms Too
But you have an issue bro
1- Make My Rom button doesn't work on the first run, I had to close and reopen the program.
2- the result zipped ROM will fail to flash in CWM & is twice in size than the original ROM
why it will fail, because if you open the result zipped file you will find a folder that has the project's title and the ROM files are inside that folder.
while CWM checks for META-INF folder on the root directory of the zipped ROM.
The reason why it's twice in size than the original ROM is because after the program unzips the base rom it doesn't delete it from workspace which causing "Ionic.Zip.dll" to include it in the result zipped rom making it twice in size than the original ROM.
Also please note that adding a data folder in the project will not lead into having anything inside /data/app after the rom is flashed because the updater-script must be modified to include the commands which tell CWM to: A- Mount Data Partition. B- Extract contents of data folder in the zipped file to Data Partition on the phone.
Also it would be better if your program doesn't fully remove the files from the hard disk, rather than just moving them to Recycle bin it's safer, since they can be retrieved
I'm sorry for that comment but I thought I would give you a quick feedback since it's the main step in making a better program
Good luck
does this support aroma installer ?
Any way,big thanks to you dude

Thanks a bunch for your suggestions. Wow...I just learned my lesson of why I should never leave catch statemetns empty lol. And I didn't know that about the data/app folder thing. I went back and added some code to add lines to the setup-script though I haven't tested it yet, so I'll see if that works. Haha, but thanks again for helping me catch those bugs, lol tell me if you find anymore.

[HOW TO] Make own/change boot/shutdown animation for sgs3/sgs4 [STEP BY STEP]

I'M IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE OF ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HAPPEN TO YOUR DEVICE, YOU, YOUR GRANDMA, NORTH KOREA OR ANYTHING
This should work on other Samsung devices with QMG bootanimations (like s4)!
I've been searching for solutions and haven't found them.
Bootanimation.zip files just don't work, not in data/local or system/media. BUT I've found the solution.
This guide shows you how to make your own bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg or shutdown.qmg!
Preparations=
- Download and install Samsung theme designer http://developer.samsung.com/themes/tools-sdks/Samsung-Theme-Designer-2-0-4
- Have "unzipper" installed (7zip, Powerarchiver, Winzip, Winrar, Peazip...)
- You'll have to have full animation frame by frame in 720x1280 resolution (in other resolutions it will look bad) named like this: first "Image_000.png", second "Image_001.png", third "Image_003.png" and like that till the last frame
When you have done all the above, LET'S BEGIN
1st. Open Samsung theme designer (the one that you previously installed). Under "Create new theme", select "Feature(NonTouch) Phone". Then under "Select Model" select one of them (I've tested only "QinQin", others should work). Under "Select Showcase" select "default". Name this project to whatever you want an press "OK".
2nd. You're sure you did it correctly? Good. Next there's "Idle Component" on the left. Select it and under it should be "Idle Background". Select it. There should now be "Background Type" on the right. Change it from "fixed" to "animated". Now there should be "Frame" under it. Change the number next to it to the number of the frames you have in your animation (the number of the "Image_something.png" pictures). "Duration" is the delay in seconds between the frames. Depending on animation, probably best would be to either to choose 0 seconds or 1. Your choice, if the final animation goes too fast, take a bigger number. I used 1 for the animation I made (it's at the end of this post). If "Repeat" is true, it will make the animation loop. If you just want to play 1 cycle of your animation, choose false.
3rd. Wow, you're already here! Now comes the easy part. There should now be "Animation Object Windows" open in the bottom of the theme designer. Drag your photos 1 by 1 to the empty squares/slots ("Image_000.png" to first slot, "Image_001.png" to second and so on). DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE PREVIEW WINDOWS/ANYTHING, it will look weird but it will look great in your phone.
4th. Now the work is done. Just select "Export Theme" on the top center of the theme designer. Accept Samsung T&C and choose the location of the file so that you'll find it later! Export.
5th. Now you'll have to rename the .stm file to .zip. Open the zip and extract the "IdleBgAnimObj.qmg". Now if you want to make it into a boot animation, make a copy of it and name the copies "bootsamsung.qmg" and "bootsamsungloop.qmg". Backup your old files in system/media with the same name if you want them back someday/if something went wrong. Move the files you made to system/media. Now reboot and it should look beautiful!
If you want to make it into a shutdown animation, name the "IdleBgAnimObj.qmg" to "shutdown.qmg" and move it to system/media/video/shutdown (BACKUP the old one).
IF THE ORIGINAL FILES IN SYSTEM/MEDIA WERE NAMED "bootanimation.qmg" AND "bootanimationloop.qmg", NAME YOUR FILES THE SAME WAY.

flash it via recovery ( cwm/ twrp )
reboot
and change font in

if u like if press thanks button here
if u dont like it and want to go back default font
just change font in
setting>display>font style>default
and
you still want to completely remove my mod and go back to default font pack !!!!!
well here is uninstall zip
it will completely remove my font pack ( flash it in recovery )
SystemUI
installation
Use any root explorer
1. back up your current systemUI.apk ( copy it from system/app/systemUI.apk ( & systemUI.odex for stock rom ) to any convenient folder )
2. now delete original systemUI.apk from system/app/systemUI.apk and copy-past mine at same location
3. give permissions rw-r--r--
4. reboot
5. done ! enjoy
( if u dont like it u can replace original one same as above )
downolad in attachment
extraxt .rar file and find apk/odex ... they are not flashable zips
note : there is also funny one.. i made it for HJ < 5.1 versions ( i directly mod this one from HJ zip so credit goes to harsh panchal ) when we apply it to stock it shows htc sence like recent apps with smaller thumbnails  ( it's not recommended to use this... just for fun btw afaik it will not harm any thing if u use it )
init.ds
for cocore kernel only (not for stock kernel)
there are lots of threads and scripts for performance ... entropy..n all
and personally i tried many of them
so let me clear one thing to you about "entropy" ones ... as i feel they kills your animation experience..they make them so fast that u can's enjoy animations ... and i don't like that .
so my init.ds are simple tweaks for kernel to increase performance and battery life
i tried many custom roms and scripts and put here which ever i feel it's good and changes some values by my own
( so credits goes to that roms and scripts also )
you can change values like governor / frequency etc. manually using txt editors if u like
personally i dont use cpu oc ( max_freq init.d ) bcz my phone is not stable for cpu oc
installation
1. extract rar file
2. if u are using custom rom then certainly there will be init.d s in system/etc/init.d so backup them anywhere else
3. then delete them (files ) from init.d folder
( plz dont put bot original init.d s by rom creator and mine one bcz they may be conflicts !!! )
4. copy my files into system/etc/init.d folder
5. and give permissions ( rwxrwxrwx ) (i.e all )
6. reboot
7. see difference and give your feed back
note if u use "my set" init.d plz dont use any governor changing apps like setcpu or nofrail cpu with different setting... if u wanna use those apps plz remove "governor" and "i/o" entry from "my set" init.d
i prefere to change governor and i/o by init.d bcz cpu apps gives little delay after boot up to set them
host file ( ad blocking )
yah there are may host files available for ad blocking any some of them are very large like 12 mbs !!
but they also block some file up-loader servers and some needed host..
like ad.fly , link bucks , adnet etc etc
and some them they also block images on play store !!!
so would like to share host file " modded" by me it will probably not bolck any needed things also it block most of ads in apps of daily use because i personally add those host which gives adds in some apps ... and remove entry like ad.fly , linkbucks , adnet
so in short its optimal host file and small in size so no load on system or cpu
install
download
1. extract zip file
2. go system/etc and delete prebuild host
3. place my host file there
4. set permissions ( rw-r--r-- )
5. reboot
Debloating ( New !! )
well i wanna share my experience about removing "bloatware" ( unnecessary system apps ) when i created this thread but at that time i did have much time ... but i just replied in one thread about debloating and i wanna share some of them here also
1st we have thread by "king ov hell" for " debloating " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200954
but but wait if u remove all of them listed in that thread u will lose some of functionality like "WiFi direct" n all
bcz it's excessive list about bloatware...
but IMO some of Bloats are necessary and not harmful so
i'm putting S.S of a /system/apps after Debloating
NOTES
1. nandrid backup is life savior if any thing goes wrong so always make nandroid backup via cwm/twrp it only take 5-10 mins
2. all system apps ( including bloatwares ) present in /system/apps
3. i also removed Gapps ( except playstore ( phonesky.apk ) )
why ?
they are not necessary ... even Gmail & google play services is not needed in system !!!!! ( google play will automatically download play-services before downloading any apps and install it as user app if u don't provide it in /system ) ... so we can use all gapps directly as user apps from playstore ( no functionality will be broken )
benefits of this are
1. more free system space.
2. gapps will update occasionally so if u put all of them in system there updates will be in /data as user app so duplicate files and them rewuire space in both /system & /data !!!!!
3.user have choice to download his wished gapps directly
4). may be i removed stock sms app & file manager also buz i dont use them i use 3rd party ones !! so use your common sense ...and if u need to use some specific app ( which i don't use ) don't remove it
..................................................................................................................
so all the apps present in my pics are needed in rom to work without breaking any function
( it may happen that some apps wasn't present in your rom from beginning so don't worry bcz dev of that rom already remoed them and they are not necessary ..he is dev and he definitely know more than me about necessity of apps .. so if it happens that some apps is present in my SS but dont in your rom don't argue with your rom creator )
so in short you can remove all apps which are not present in blow SS
again !!!don't remove apps which are present in pics... they are NOT bloatware they are necessary apps
You are great! Thx
