Great battery and phone improvements - Galaxy S III General

Hello Peeps,
Not long ago bought a Galaxy S3, Ive noticed that phone was draining battery quite quickly and also was bit slow...Thanks to this forum Ive made some changes and removed some bloatware, battery last 2 days now and phone is very quick.
Thats what I desabled:
All share play
Chat ON
Dropbox
Google play books
google play magazine
Google Play music
Google play services
Google Search
Google +
Music Hub
Picasa
S Suggest
Video Hub
Yahoo news & finance
I just wanted to say thanks to the guys here for posting some great tips
Cheers

Re: Great battery and phone improvemtns
Pro tip: freeze everything that begins with 'Samsung' or has the word 'sync' in it. Ensure all is stable for the next 24 hours. Remove if you wish.

Seems ok now....As I said phone is so quick and battery last over 2 days, Thanks anyway will try that.

Disable Google Now if you don't use it

with ARHD 23.3, 24/7 use of wifi i'm getting 1d and a few hours, stock kernel, Google Now disabled. You could also disable 3g background use of many apps, that will give you some more time

Hi groovy! Did you only root your phone and then uninstalled all the apps you posted? Thanks!

I don't understand what GMAIL NOW is... However I disabled Google + and my Gmail app seems to be working... Moreover Gmail is syncing my account as before....

Well, google now isn't really that useful outside US so turning it off is very good option for people who don't use it at all.
I think that the best solution for short battery life is to buy a second spare battery and a charger along with it, in the end you shouldn't expect long time with a display and cpu like those in ours i9300.

There is currently not a Facebook app in the market. They haven't optimized it for Honeycomb yet, but you can get it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1143913&highlight=kanged and that should work. The only issue I have with it, is that the friends list part force closes.
They must have recently taken it down, thanx for the link tho

i had the fb app on my tablet and one day it just disappeared...they took it down.
Use Friend Me
I use Friendcaster. Lots more options and when you say No Notifications..... it stops polling and giving you notifications. I notices a lift in battery when I uninstalled it. Friendcaster just seems nicer and smoother to me.

I previously had this app, but removed it.
Now it will no longer install. It will download, but will never proceed to install.
Anyone else having problems?

I've had that happen with the market a few times too. I normally just back out and go back in until it finally works.

There is actually a Honeycomb/Tablet edition, though in beta...
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.handmark.friendstream&feature=search_result
Works well for me, and definately less crashes than the native Facebook for Android app...
I've actually gone so far as to uninstall the official Facebook on my Vibrant running CM 7. With the last update on July 18th, for some reason, even if you set it to never poll for notifications, never refresh, and not to sync, it still keeps the news feed open in the background and constantly refreshes it. I noticed huge battery drain one day when I took my phone off of the charger, barely used it all day, and later that night around 11 I had 14 percent battery warning. When I looked into the battery history, Facebook took up a whopping 81 percent of the battery drain on that particular charge.
Will stick to using the 3rd party options.

There are a lot of apps that you won't find in the market because they haven't been optimized for Honeycomb. I normally just install them on my phone, pull the apk, then transfer it to my tab. So far every app I tried worked just fine including fb and google voice.
Friendcaster for Tab seems great to me, but it loads continuously when I select the messages tab, not showing anything... if that'll be solved, and chat will be added, it will be the perfect FB app for me!
PS: anyone solved the messages issue?

Mine does that with messages too, and yes, chat is a must. At least chat works on the Facebook app though. That's about the only good thing about it. While we're on the subject of honeycomb apps and notifications not working; how hard is it for Words With Friends to get notifications to work?! Is it really that difficult? I play a word and THEN it tells me it's my turn.

My Messages tab does that too, as does the Events tab. Very annoying. I really hope a new beta's released soon. I sent the dev a PM about it but haven't heard anything back yet.
Strangely enough, I've seen a walkthrough video of the app (on Android Central I think) which showed them using the Messages and Events tab both working fine.
EDIT: New beta just released fixes the Messages issue, but I still have problems with Events.

Google Play 3.9.16 - FINALLY!

http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/10...all-apps-list/
We can finally remove apps from the "All Apps" list on Google Play.. it also translates to the web portal!
Three years of junk cleared in 15 minutes! :good:
KKH
Was stilling annoying. I spent 20 minutes tapping away removing over 2 years of crap.. Was like a walk down memory lane. I felt old when I reached Open Home..
Guess it's too late to tell you that you can select multiple entries and delete them all at once, hm? ^^
Still didn't manage to reinstate a dedicated list for only apps you purchased, though I know Google has no intend of doing it.

Yeah I had to do the same thing. It was rather annoying. I am sure they will release another correcting that now that we all lost several minutes of our lives clearing them out.
All that tapping made me felt a bit like an mmorpg player. Nice to see my first downloaded app was SuperSU.
I really like that we can remote apps from all apps.

Yeah, too bad you can't do the same operation on the Play Store website and it would sync back to the app. Also ridiculous that they made the list position to stick, when you're searching for apps, but not in the Installed apps section. When you list down and delete some apps, you get back to the top again lol. But it's a start.
Awsome man thanks for this . Was waiting for the remove apps feature for a while . I had 5 phones on the same google account and that list was gettin messy )

HIT THANKS PLEASE
I am so glad they added a way to remove apps. Like others, I have had multiple phones and had a bunch of old apps I dont use anymore. While first discovering the new option, I had learned that you could multi select and remove, so it didnt take too long. One more thing that would be great to add would be the ability to select multiple apps to install.

How are you using the Multi view ?

Now that many of us have flashed the multiview , lets hear how are you using it to its advantage .
As for me I have been using it mostly to surf wallpapers and see YouTube videos in parallel.

it might work better on a 1080p note 3 screen than it does on a 720p S3 screen which just feels over crowded

Possibly (Although I don't use Facebook)
Mainly browsing + Facebook / SMS / Twitter.
Currently have a lot of essays that involve comparing two sources so it's been pretty handy to be able to see both simultaneously.

Samsung has removed the support for syncing Google Bookmarks from their Browser, which is one of the stupidest things they have done. They now want you to use your Samsung account

[Q] Push email on stock Rom unrooted

Dear friends...
One of the very few disadvantages of this fantastic device is that the stock email app doesnt support push for more than one hotmail account.
(or windowslive or live etc)
Appart from the main account, the others use manual fetch. (Only the time periods for fetch can be adjusted)
I've tested a number of apps and the only one that seems to be working properly with push and no problems is Touchdown HD.
The problem is that this app is a little expensive (after the 30 day trial)
Any other recommendations verified to be working?
Please keep in mind that for the time being I don't intend on rooting the device so all suggestions should be for the stock phone.
My device is the international version.
Thanks

I use outlook.com app for hotmail (official microsoft email app).
I syncs everything and gives you push email. However I dunno if it supports more than 1 account.
