For those having heavy battery drain after official jb update try the following setting under location services, it works great with just 1-4% battery drain in standby for me in 10-12 hrs:

This would render some of the Google Now services useless, isn't it?
I've used this trick in the past mainly to disable the stock maps app from wakelocks. It works for battery but is annoying if you need some of the other google services on tap.
it works for me. thanks

same like wtf is this
These images don't prove any real problem.
To be sure of battery draining, just find and install betterbatterystats application and check partial wakelocks tab.
Upload the ss here for checking.

Post battery stats please
Usually power "drain" is due to wakelock

I had this. I assume it is due to some script from a rogue website. I rebooted and it's fine.
Using Wake Detector as per below screen shots, it is clear than more than 50% of the last two hours Google Search Audio was already awake! U wonder how much battery juice I would save if i am to disable it!
What exactly should I do? Any insights please help.

There have been threads about restricting Google Now (search) to reduce wake locks, data use, etc.
Google is much more concerned with keeping you online, than your battery life. Google Now pings the net frequently to build metrics and pave the way to place as many targeted ads in front of you as possible.
.
Thank you for your highlight. Then for sure I need to search for those threads

Hi there,
What ROM are you using?
Install Xposed by arter97 and Amplify, then configure the settings like this:

From appearances, it looks like Google Play Services is your culprit.
Actually, there are two methods to solve this issue:
1. Using modified version of Google Play services with reduced wakelocks.
2. Use Amplify to block wakelocks. That's why I redirect it to Extreme Battery Life guide thread.

Thanks again for the devs. Thanks J-case for freeing up my phone. I wasn't getting great battery life on stock. When I received my phone back, I promptly flashed venom. Also, I'm using xposed modules for battery life. I have got to tell you amplify is awesome. I tested it with only 4g on. A typical day I'm watching videos, facebook, streaming Pandora for at least 5hrs. Attached are my battery results. I'll be seeing how my results will be with power saver enabled too
