I know there are videos of XBox 360 and Playstation controllers working with the Transformer and 3.1, but has any one here actually got it working?
I have the dock, and have tried two different generic usb2 game controllers (PS3 style), and have tried both ports on the dock, but I dont get any notification pop up or menu options in settings, and none of my games react to the controller inputs?
am I missing something?
cheers.
Hey there. I just got fpse, an emulator app that allows you to play PS1 games on various devices. I just plugged in my PS3 controller and it began to work flawlessly on my transformer after i had assigned keys to the different buttons within the app. No notification came up after plugging in, so i dont know if the controller can be used just like that (i.e. moving the mouse around on the home screen , etc)
Edit: i can move the homescreen around with the directional pad as well as the left joystick, but it is very delayed and buggy
the PS3 controller works, and most USB gamepads should. Xbox 360 one does not right now. Asus bug.
however, outside of emulators and cordy most games have no gamepad support.
best way to test is to download cordy or side load an emulator and go into the key binding. if you can bind a key to the controller then it works.
I have Cordy, I'll give that a go later, Thanks.
(I have tried it in Pocket Racing and Meganoid with no luck though.)
Tried my USB game pad with Cordy last night but no luck.
guess i'll have to try a PS3 controller if I can borrow one.
I don't have a dock. Does PS3 controller work via bluetooth?
My wiimote works great by using the app - WiimoteController via bluetooth connection.

No, it has to be plugged into one of the USB ports on the dock.
tried my xbox360 controller and it didn't work..the green ring on the controller kept blinking and none of the keybindings would work..
then I tried my other generic gamepad (still xbox360 style), D-PAD seems functioning but button 5-9 and LT/RT didn't..
haven't tried ps3 controller yet..but heard one of my friends said it works flawlessly
No bluetooth connection? That's so stupid! I have to sit very close to my lcd TV if I export my eeepad via hdmi.

or get a longer hdmi cable!
Very stupid too! Why wiimote can do this but ps3 or xbox controller don't? They suppose to use similar bluetooth technology. Am I right? Now this update is useless for me and other tablets which don't have an usb port. It sucks!

Does anyone know if usb gamepads work with the Iconia? Would like to use an analoge pad if it can be done to play some PSX games..
Thanks, Sonkey
This has been discussed numerous times since 3.1 was released.
Yes, USB gamepads are supported. Not 100% sure about analog thumbpads for psx playing though. Try it

i use my usb controller to play snes all the time. not sure on psx just should work. no need for an app just connect and map the keys in the emulator. heres a link on the kind of controller im using

I have a wired usb xbox 360 controller. This works with the Iconia.

I use a wireless xbox 360 controller for PC (w/ usb receiver). This works well for nesoid hooked up to the tv via HDMI
why bother using a wired joystick when you can get a wireless joystick at just few bucks more..
i have PS3 wireless joystick and installed sixaxis contoller app... been happy and no problem so far
Those of you using an xbox controller hardwired..
my left analogue stick works but not the right one. also the top L+R buttons work but not the bottom ones..
do you guys have the same issues??
Also..
Those using the PS3 controller.. have you noticed that any buttons arent responding? might invest in a PS3 controller if they all work correctly.
thanks in advance.
I've bought this app on the market
(Damn, cannot post links...)
it's called 'USB/BT Joystick Center'
It's working perfectly to me...
I've tested 3 generic usb joysticks and all of them worked.
You can create the USB driver based on the bits input of the device.
really nice, and no root is needed.
rafinhasantana 'USB/BT Joystick Center
Hey rafinhasantana,
I bought USB/BT JOY center too but i was afraid to install it. check out the permissions on that thing. Says it can record passwords you enter in another application. I know its probably needed to record button actions etc... but i was a little concerned.
Do you have any issues with it thus far? Anyone else use this????

I've been looking into this. When you say a "wireless PS3 remote", sdo you mean the stock Sony branded remote, or other?

Hi!
Well i've had no problems with that.. It works like an alternative input method, like in the Wii controller input, but you're not gonna use to type your passwords around. I've contacted the developer about the deadzone for sticks and he hass implemented that...
It's working fine for me, and since I don't use the tablet for banking I'm not THAT worried about passwords on it at all...

I just noticed the Six Axis app requires root... shucks.
Those SixAxis Dual Shock controllers... the ones listed as wireless still have the mini USB connection on the back. Is that ONLY for charging, or can those be hooked up via USB to the tablet for use as well?

Im also thinkimg of getting a set or paiir of ps3 controller. Im kinda leaning towards the bluetooth wireless sixaxis. But before i pull the trigger, can anyone plz confirm that you can connect two wiireless sixaxis controllers simultaneously for 2-player mode in some games? If not, can the wired controllers do it? Tia
Anyone know if PlayStation One (dual shock) controllers can work properly?
I have one hooked up via an OTG cable and a USB conversion hub (to plug the controller into) and can only seen to get the analogue sick to work on FPse. The others buttons (other than the D-pad and right analogue stick) seem to be working in the joycentre but I am not sure how to get them to work outside it, out how to tell the joycentre what physical buttons the presses relate to. Does anyone know if a tutorial video in English?

are you sure it do sent need root because every freaking video I seen said you need it to use that app( can you make a video of how you do it.) if so can you use a controller to show me how to use it on modern combat 4 when you put it on YouTube
so it was my understanding that an innate ability of 3.1 was that it allowed us to plug in controllers, including PS3 and 360, and play witht hem. I plugged in my PS3 controller, expecting some sort of "input detected" message, but nothing. theredoesn't seem to be anything in the settings to configure or connect a device, either.
how do we do this? I know there are some emulators that have released updates with controller compatibility in the changelog.
As far as i kmow you camt connect a 360 controller. To connect a ps3 controller u need sixaxis controller. Its a paid app in the market.

I connected my wireless xbox360 controller using the PC dongle. I never got any message, it just worked. There are videos showing how to do it.
I can also confirm if you plug in a usb xbox 360 controller it works almost instantly
Using the xBox wireless usb adapter for PC to play emulators on my a500 3.1. Works like a charm.
The app to support the PS3 Sixaxis controller is only needed if you use it over bluetooth. It works without that program plugged in by USB. Bluetooth support is cool, but you need a PC as part of the pairing process for the controller.
Doing something with the controllers is something different though ... most emulators allow you to map the controller keys to the game, but you need to set them up in the emulator.

does anyone have any tips on disabling the home and back keys on the android while using a different input method? I connected s wired xbix 360 controller to my tablet and I can bind some buttons for emukators but other buttons on the controller are bound to home and back so when I try and use those bbuttons in the emulator they either close or worse I can't even bind the buttons because I'm pressing back. I also am unable to use the right thumbstick for input. Any suggestions and/or help?

Use an app called bt/USB joystick controller (just search "joystick" in market.) Its a paid app but about 60p and well worth it. I use it with my wired and wireless Xbox pad.
It has custom profiles for all different pads and means all ure buttons work. The UI isn't massively clear but once its set up its a doddle You basically tell ur device that input method is not touch screen keyboard, but instead your pad.
Best part is that I use my pad for some proper games (ie not emulators) and its great. Gta is awesome on it.
Awesome app but I'm having troubke configuring my analog sticks would you ir anyone happen to have a driver for a wired 360 controller appsrentky you can export profiles.
I was surprised that a ps3 controller when plugged in with the USB and it just worked

I just loaded up the standard control profile for wired 360 pad. Analogue sticks work fine though I think it treats them as digital. Did see there was option for some analogue settings within the program

Many games, including Grand Theft Auto III have built-in coding for controllers. I plugged my PS3 controller in and it worked perfectly.

Does it matter if you're on a custom ROM or OC'd? I couldn't get my PS3 controller to work on GTA 3 using the Epiphany ROM.

I might be wrong but the gamepad support comes from the kernel. Maybe inquire with the Dev, just a question are you plugging the ps3 in with USB?

Did anybody succeed in using a PS3 controller for the Xoom Family (connetted with the USB OTG Cable)? I want to use it for Snesoid and the other emulators.
Mine lights up but can't do anything with it. I tried to reassign the keys but when I press a button nothing happens. It seems that with the normal XOOM is recognized without any issues. Or any luck with another controller?

Since the original question was about the OTG cable and the SixAxis app is for Bluetooth, I use a PS3 controller via USB and it works fine.
You do have to press the Playstation logo button to use the controller...

You can use PS3 controllers via the mini USB, just like you can on the PS3 when the batteries are flat.
Thanks for the responses.
Sixaxis requires root, and the Xoom Family is locked.
Also cant get the ps3 controller to work on the Family, maybe they did not include the drivers (its still on 3.1).
I could have sworn I saw a thread on how to root the Xoom family.

It should work on Android 3.1.... Make sure its not paired with the PS3. You can do this by turning the back switch to off on your ps3. I had some trouble connecting my ps3 controller at first, But the problem was it was connected to my ps3. I didn't notice because my ps3 was in the other room.
Wired 360 controller or dreamgear ps3 wireless?
Thanks

I'd go with the ps3 controller. I tried my brother's xbox controller and couldn't get it to work correctly. My ps3 controller worked right away with usb, also works great with bluetooth, using sixaxis from the market, great for emulators.

Cool thanks ya I have sixaxis and was testing with brother in laws sony ps3 controller and worked good once paired but I need my own so I don't have to keep pairing it ya know.. does the brand of ps3 controller matter or will the wireless protocol still work with the tablet. What do you have to do to pair it up via bt with no USB...
Thanks

Honestly, I would go with a Sony branded PS3 controller with the sixaxis app from the market.
The app costs a few bucks, but works flawlessly, very easy to setup as well.
Can't go wrong with that gear.
I was able to use a Wired XBox 360 controller (that I bought for using in Windows 7) on my A500 running stock either 3.0 or 3.2.1. I can't remember if it was before or after I updated it. It worked great for an NES emulator!
Chris
Not sure why you can't use a 360 controller when games that use controllers have the exact colored button indicators as it.
I use a wired, and it works by default. If you use onlive gaming, you will want to use the 360 controller since games are made for it already, or the onlive wireless one. Wireless Xbox 360 controllers work as well, but I use the wired so I don't need to worry about battery life.
Bluetooth controllers typically will have synch issues so stay away from those.
