i've just received my new Nexus 4. Incoming call screen looks weird (contact photo on top, rest of the screen is black) and i wanted to ask you guys if this is something normal?
Thanks!

ok... is there any way to change/customize incoming call screen?
I have the same problem which i noticed today (i have the phone for 3 days). I am not sure i had it from the begining so it might be from an app...
Even so, it is not normal.
I think mine is like that... But I'm running rootbox. But I think it was like that stock, and my old Atrix was like that on CM10
Mine is not rooted...
I've seen a lot of pictures on the internet whit this kind of incoming call but it doesn't seem right...why allowing a fullscreen picture if it's half blocked when receiving the call?!?

its probably a new feature designed by some bright young engineer at Google !
try one of those full screen caller id apps, if you don't mind running another service in the background.
this helped on my Moto G (4.3).

Nothing weird. That's normal on kitkat. If you want full pic, try purity rom. However I like the stock looks cause the icons are hard to see when there is full pic as background. That's just me though.

Hey didn't really read anything abouth this, but the os part of the phone from samsung is really getting to annoy me. It's pretty ugly and doesn't look good...
I am wondering if I am the only one with this. Is it the screen or is it just not well made? Because it also looks like some banding.
I will give some examples but you can see it everywhere...
Like the battery icon when your phone is off and you are charging, wtf is that? It's banded like wth...
Also these two next examples are bad. Can you check if yours is the same?
It seems with a screenshot it's pretty normal on my laptop screen. On my phone it's not like that. How are these examples with your phones??
In this first pick, look at the grey from every different alarm. On my phone it is very banded!! Not smooth at all like this picture, some pink lines in between and stuff...
Here you should lok at the grey of the keyboard. And the green telephone button. Doesn't look smooth in my phone.
I also have a question abouth, some burn in? When i pull down the pull down menu/notification bar, and I watch the bar where your thumb is up, it chancges slightly in color i noticed. When i look closer, i could see that what is behind the bar is visible for abouth 10-15 sec and than it fades. So i could read the word contacts pretty good, when i pulled it all the way down, so it's kind of a burn in for sometime? Is this normal and can ohter people check this on their phone? Thanks
Yes I agree it's pretty ugly, use go launcher, go contacts and go sms pro, much better looking...

Yeah ok, the look is something else, everybody has it own taste.
But i was talking abouth the banding on the grey of the numeric keyboard, and the alarm for example...
At these screenshot they look pretty normal, but on my phone they don't look like that...
So is it the screen that make them look like that???
Do these things look the same on your phone screen as on your pc screen? Or do you also have banding on these things?
PC screen is not the phone screen stupid to compare them .
For what is worth I see no banding on Dialpad on phone likewise ringer volume .
jje
There is a topic about the banding, I think it's a software issue it probably doesnt use 24bit color depth, just use go contacts/dialer

Yeah i know it's stupid. But you should think it is optimised for the phone.
On the dialpad I see banding on every number's grey "button".
And it is not the ringer volume, that was an accident when i made the print screen, I accidently pushed the ringel volume at the same time.
It's the grey from every alarm, very banding on my phone...
So if you don't have it, my screen is defect?

Factory reset first to clear any problems .

I am sure the screen response will loosen up over time. I noticed too initially but it's all okay now.
I remember first two weeks of my tv was almost painful to watch while the pixels caught up with the action. Maybe oled isn't much different to lcd in that respect

Hi,
The vibrate icon in the top bar is always there (if you have vibrate on) with the Note
With the S2, the icon was only visible when vibrate *only* was on...
Anyone knows a way to get rid of the icon?
feature.
new in ki8 on sgs2 too.

Yeah crazy uh, I really don't see the need to even show it. waste of space.
I have always used android except for the past 1.5 years. Obviously alot has changed and now I am back with the nexus 4. I have to admit it seems much more polished since the htc evo days.
So I need some advice and pointers..
I received the phone last night, I spent the rest of the evening rooting it. I am now running faux's kernel
as well AOKP's Rom
Here is what I am missing imo..
When I put the phone in silent mode, it does not vibrate, to overcome it I installed Silent Mode Jammer from the app store. Just hoping I am missing a setting though.
On the iphone, it was jailbroken and I installed this app called f.lux which at a certain time, would alter the screen so I could view it in the dark without it lighting up an entire room. Also gave it a different colour hue.
Finally, the lockscreen. I would love to have more than a clock on the screen. Ideally, the weather, 5day maybe... my calendar and then any alerts.
Any advice or pointers? Thanks and glad to be back..
Welcome back to the droids
For your lockscreen questionslide from left to right in the lock screen until a "plus" appears push it and you can choose from 5 Stock widgets aviable (at least in stock rom but i dont think aokp removed this fetuare)

Welcome back. I also jumped ship from Android to the iPhone 5 for a couple weeks, then back to the N4. The N4 is my favorite phone by far.
You need to make sure you have "always vibrate" checked under settings for phone, messaging, and email. Then, when the phone is in vibrate mode it will actually vibrate when you get a call, text, or email.
as for the lockscreen, each widget goes on its own page, can you combine them so that they look like:
Clock
Weather
Agenda
Alerts
thanks

Try holding down on the icons and moving them. If you can, remove them from the screen and re add them. If not, try disabling any xposed modules (if you have any that could effect the home screen) and look at it again. I don't personally use the touchwiz launcher and this never happened to me, so these are just guesses. Also, I noticed you have a strange colored Google app in your bottom bar. Did you do anything to the icon, and if so did you possibly break other icons while doing it?

I did factory reset my phone and still see these , is there any software to fix that or this is a hardware issue .
is this called a burn-in issue or it is called some thing else .
thanks for replying .
Are those applications actually there software wise? If not, then it would be a burn-in, where the screen has the images "burned in" and can't be removed. If they are there you could try flashing a stock tar using Odin for whatever build you want.

yes , they are software wise and if you look very good in the pic you can notice the whatsapp shadow on the screen , also I had flashed the stock.tar odin rom many times and they are still there , if this case is a burn-in issue what software would you suggest to fix because I tried all the softwares on the playstore and they didn't help .
thanks

The only other thing I can suggest is to take your phone to Verizon and see what they can do. They might have to replace it.
having same issue in MotoG3
I got this phone(MotoG3) 15 days back, it worked fine for a few days and suddenly I noticed that a "Whats app Shadow" is coming on my home-screen, it was hardly noticeable at first but then it became darker and darker, I replaced the phone thinking it might be a software issue, and got the same handset today itself, it worked fine but again as I installed whats app the same shadow problem appeared, I uninstalled it and it started to work properly. Am not sure where is the problem, so please help me out.
About the shadow issue:
The home screen of whats app appears in my wallpaper and also above all the other apps, a transparent shadow kinda thingy, I hope you people got what am trying to say.
Thank You
I also have the same issue on my redmi note 8 but in my phone i doesn't shows the shadow of the icon but but the shadow off appa inside when I use anh app
I have the same issue on my Pixel; the shadow apps aren't directly on my home screen, but when apps are opened. Perhaps due to Google system.
Hi everyone. Recently got this phone a few days ago and finally transferred everything over to it. One thing that is bugging me is the twitch app. In landscape mode normally the black bars on either side are symmetrical, but on this phone they're not. One side is way bigger than the other. Is there any way to fix this?

You're right. It seems to be accounting for a notch that isn't there. Even when maximized to fill the screen

Yeah it's kind of annoying, but I've enabled the app in the display apps in full screen section in settings on the phone and that seems to have fixed the issue when watching a stream in landscape.
