[Q] Instant upload got split into 100+ albums - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Yesterday Instant upload album on my N4 got split into 100+ new albums and now all the photos taken on the same day are in a separate album with the date as the album name. This makes viewing photos on the phone useless since I now need to go through 100+ albums to find a photo.
Not to mention the gallery app looking like **** now, due to this. On the G+ photo page everything looks good (ie no 100+ albums) but once I go to PicasaWeb the same problem is there as on my phone (Instant upload album got split up into 100+ albums)
Anybody have similar issues, and how to get rid of this?

Same problem here, bumping this thread.

There's a ticket on this issue with Google support. I was reading it today. They're looking into it supposedly. It's a server side thing.

Gallery - Low Resolution Picasa Pics

I've tried searching around for an answer to this but have only come up blank. My photos on Picasa are uploaded at 1024X768 on the website. In my gallery on the N1, when I view a picture from Picasa, the loading icon spins but the picture never loads to a clear resolution. Is it normal that the Gallery does not clear Picasa pictures? Does the loading icon always spin? I've let it sit for 10-15 minutes to see if it will load the picture.
Thanks in advance!
I did it while connected to edge, took about 30-45 sec to load a 1600 res image.
same here. I turned off sync picasa. I just moved pics to the phone without syncing. I assumed for me it was just too many pics in picasa online. thousands

Does the image show up clear on your phone? None of my pictures show up clear. It's as if the Gallery app is just zooming in on the thumbnail.

I had the same issue when trying to veiw Picasa Pictures. I had just uploaded about 400 new pics and all of those pics were in really low res on the N1. After going onto WIFI and the phone syncing with picasa for about 5-10 mins now all my pics are in high res.
Haven't explored the phone yet but it seems that it probably stores the pics on your phone - probably explaines why my 4GB Sd card only shows 50mb free!
I did some testing and came up with this:
I created a new album and uploaded a picture at 1024 x 768 from the Picasa software. I did a resync of my albums on the phone (uncheck and recheck the autosync option to force it to sync). The picture would show up blurry.
I deleted that picture from the album. Then, I uploaded the same picture at 1600 x 1200 from the Picasa software. Did the resync to make sure that latest album was in my Gallery. Went to view the picture and the picture turned out clear after a few seconds of loading.
I also realized that I had 2 pictures uploaded by someone else at 1280 x 768. Those pictures turned out clear in the Gallery app.
It seems that the Gallery app has some kind of resolution issue. Not sure if this has happened to anyone else.

Yes.
I have about 600 megs of 1600×1067 photo's up on my picasa. I'm pretty sure it pre-pulls only low res, fuzzy versions, and then when, and only when you actually click on an image does it download the full res. This has been my experience.

I have the same issue, if I upload the pics at 1600x1200, they look fine. If I upload them at 1024x768 the gallery app will only load the thumbnail, no matter how long I wait. This appears to be a bug with the gallery app.

Albums

I have more questions still!!
These are about the Album app. I have some albums reduced down especially for my phone, I notice the N1 sync's with Picasa though, so some are duplicated. Does it properly sync, as in download smaller versions of each picture from each album? I'm opening the Picasa ones and they seem slower to snap into sharpness than the ones I put on the SD card?
Also, is there a way to stop certain folders showing in the Albums? I have all sorts of odd images that the app finds in other app folders which kind of spoils the effect of the album.

Solved - Delete Post

when i got my photos and videos it says no photos available, so i click on albums i can see it spinning like it looking for ics, and then all the pic boxes quit spinning and then it just shows the camera in top left corner, and it says no photos found? then i have to click on albums again and then FINALLY albums shows up and shows, all, camera shots, temp, and all my folders on storage card.
how can i get albums to show up right when i click on the photos and videos home screen tab? i use my htc for my business. and i'd like to be able to click photos and videos and have my business graphics folders show up right away, not have to hit albums 2 times to finally get ANY of my Albums to show up!
any tweaks, reg edits, or settings i can change to accomplish this?
Thank You
It's just building the cache. Once that's done you will never see this again.

[Q] Does the Gallery app support tags?

The Gallery app lets you sort and view photos by Time, Location, Album, and Tags.
Time sorts photos chronologically; Location groups them by GPS tracking.
Album seems to group them by their folder's name.
But Tags doesn't seem to have any use. Every photo is listed as "untagged." The Xoom's Gallery and Camera app don't offer any way to to add a Tag to a photo.
And when I add photos taken and tagged from within my Droid X's Gallery app, the Xoom's Gallery app doesn't seem to recognize their tags.
Has anybody gotten the Gallery's Tags option to work?
Could this be a bug in Honeycomb? An unsupported portion of Honeycomb in the Xoom? Any ideas?
Honestly the gallery sucks... is it just me or are pictures just not sharp in the stock gallery? Quick pic seems to be the only one to show sharp images
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
I have same problem with Transformer.
I think this is honeycomb bug, but I cant find any other gallery that handle tags properly. Even picassa uploaded photos lost their tags, but doesnt work photos from sd card tagged in win 7.
But i have some tags, i dont have idea why some photos has tags others lost them

[Q] Any way to hide albums in the gallery?

I have a few different "Albums" (folders) that I like to be able to see in the Moto gallery app, but when I click on settings > Albums, it shows EVERY folder that has a picture or video in it. Which means every music download folder I have shows up since it has album art and every video/movie shows up that is in a different folder. So I have 100+ albums to scroll through to find the ones I want.
I tried deleting them, from within the gallery, but it deletes the actual folder on your phone/SD card....In the HTC gallery, you could use a feature called "Hide albums".......Is there anything like this for the Moto gallery?

if your albums are in different folders you could make a file using es file app and name it .nomedia and it wont show up in your gallery app. but if all your pics are in the same folder then none of them would show up in gallery.

No, they're all different folders. I have my basic folders I want to keep: Camera, Pictures (which I keep older pics in), Screenshots, Downloads, Wallpapers, ect... Then I have 97 music albums, each in it's own folder on my external SD card and then a "Movie-TV" folder with sub-folders in it: Doctor Who, Fringe, X-Files, and other nerd titles. All of these show up in my gallery.
I'll try the .nomedia trick, but adding that to 100+ folders is going to take a few minutes.... I was hoping there was an easier way, like there is on the HTC.

as far as I know this is the only way
You could just use quickpic gallery? It's nice, quick and light. And allows you to hide folders in bulk. It adds a .nomedia to them.
Also... If all the folders you don't want to see are in a single folder, you could put the .nomedia at the top level to have the others ignored...

Yeah, I've used QuicPic before and really liked it... I've heard some "bad things" about the latest update, or at least the new company that bought it?? I may give it a try anyways, I have nothing against a new company unless they introduce ads or something?
I also found the HTC Once M9 gallery and camera that works perfect on the MXP... I may just use that. The camera seems to work pretty well with our phones too, I may have it for my 2nd camera....and for when I hand my phone to someone to take a pic of me and they ask "where's the picture button"?
Creating a .nomedia file in the Music folder works.

Just got a used MXP last night after I broke the One Max I had been using and there weren't any good One Max's for sale. Big screen, stereo speakers, sd slot.... perfect. Had all previous HTC phones back to ppc6800.
I miss my gallery and Music HTC apps. I have 50gb of organized cd's on my sd card and I see the pictures in the gallery as all separate folders. I renamed my old sd card camera pictures folder from 100 media (htc save location) to camera (mxp save location) and it shows my camera roll with all 4,000 pictures and whatnot and adds new pics right inline. Kind of solved my gallery problem if I just stay out of the "albums" spot and just leave it on "Camera roll"... I now have camera roll, and videos as separate spots, but that doesn't help for screenshots or downloads so much. Don't use those that often I guess anyways.
The old HTC Music app would just simply be a music player and not mix in download/online material and try to sell me stuff. Its showing albums twice in my list as some are online and some are downloaded. I often go up north out of cell range for all weekend and play music in the truck and cabin the whole time. Streaming isn't an option so i'm in the minority that still buys lots of cd's (digitally) and downloads them and keeps an sd/computer/ full. Open the old music app hit one play button and it was back on the shuffle all, or a quick scroll down through all artists and whatnot to pick an album.
I know its the first day and I will get used to it. Man, I'm b*tching alot. haha.
Where did you find the camera and gallery files... and can you find the music app too?? I'm sure there are good 3rd party apps too, I just haven't had time to play with the new device yet besides setup.
Thanks!

Hey man, it's been about 6 months since I had my MXP (have a Nexus 6P now).. But, I believe there are some here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/htc-blinkfeed-plugins-devices-08-03-2015-t3049438
If you can't find what you want there, you can search that sub-fourm and I know there is another one or two threads of HTC apps floating around in that section.
Good luck!
