[Q] HELP!!!!!!! I may have brick my nexus 7

I'm not new to clockwork recovery, and I have flashed many Roms on my Nexus 7........ today I did a full back up of my latest ROM and I downloaded the latest version of the bug less beast .....I let rom manager do the back up and flash......then there was an error flashing the new rom and an abort and a reboot.......no im stuck on the google screen with the little un-locked lock at the bottom of the screen......if I reboot and go into recovery it just goes back to the google screen and stays there.....any clue as what I should do ??

It's not bricked its standard procedure you just need to plug it in

To manually enter recovery from the bootloader on devices prior to 4.1.2 (don't know if it was fixed. its a glitch from google in the bootloader) you must have the USB (OEM of course) connected to a USB port on the computer. Then you can boot to bootloader and use the volume buttons to enter recovery. It may take trying a few times, like connect to usb port before powering on, connect to USB port once you're in the bootloader, etc, but that's your only issue unless when you panicked you tried some other solutions.

My recovery is not working I flashed clockwork mod and something happened to the recovery.....its like it not there....there is an option for it but when I enter it it just goes back to the google screen

dude, i'm told you what you need to do, i had erased manually my bootloader,recover,system,data and i was able to restore w/ what i told you it worked w/out any issues

Get fastboot. plug into your computer and do these:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (recovery.img is whatever file you have for recovery. IMO, get the newest touch recovery from CWM and have it in the same directory as fastboot)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
From there, leave it PLUGGED IN and get back into recovery. Worked for me.

[Q] Stuck in boot loop - Save Photos?

Hi,
my Nexus 4 is stuck in a boot loop since 2 days. I found it turned off and assumed it crashed (has done that once or twice before), but after turning it on it's gets stuck on the boot up screen. I've tried restarting it numerous times, left it on the boot screen for hours - nothing.
I can access the recovery mode and according to most things I've found while searching the internet for a solution a "wipe data/factory reset" would hopefully do the trick, but the thing is... I haven't backed up my device in ages. (Stupid, I know.) I'm travelling and took a lot of pictures that I would hate to loose.
Is there any way to save them? I don't care for app data or anything else.
I wouldn't mind rooting it (was thinking about doing that anyway), but I'm pretty much a n00b when it comes to Android, haven't done more with it than simply using it.
I have read up quite a bit about rooting in the last two days (here on the forum and everywhere else) but I'm still not sure how exactly to do it, since all methods seem to require unlocking the bootloader and therefore deleting my photos (or just don't give much in the way of explanation).
I'm using a mac, but if necessary I also have Windows installed. I have installed Adb and fastboot following this guide.
The phone is not rooted, I don't have developer options or USB debugging enabled and it's running on 4.4.4.
I would be really grateful for help.

If you can boot into the bootloader you can install a custom recovery, I'd recommend twrp. Then booting into the custom recovery you could use adb to pull files off your device . But your bootloader needs to be unlocked. If it isn't I'm afraid you won't be able to get your photos

bootloop issue
A.
Try to go into safe mode and backup your data.
Boot into Safe Mode:
1. Press/Hold Power button until power menu shows up
2. Tap/Hold Power off option
3. Choose OK to reboot in safe mode
B.
For bootloop problem:
Boot into Stock Recovery
1. Power+VolUp while booting to enter recovery
2. You can release buttons after you see Google on screen
(Note: Must be this sequence Press/Hold Power, THEN Press/Release VolUp, release Power)
3. Android fallen down screen - VolUp to toggle recovery menu
Now wipe Cache & Dalvik Cache in recovery and reboot the phone.

If the (Option B) does not solved then try to flash the stock rom with the below given mentioned steps.
First download any stock rom and also the related usb drivers. Install the drivers into the PC.
Boot into the bootloader.
Open (fastboot.exe) Cmd prompt as admin. Put the stock rom into that particular folder.
fastboot flash bootloader filename.img
reboot the phone and return back to the bootloader.
Then, we will flash all other partitions.
fastboot flash radio filename.img
Again reboot the phone and go back into the bootloader
fastboot flash boot filename.
fastboot flash recovery filename.img
fastboot flash userdata filename.img
fastboot flash system filename.img
If you want to relock the bootloader of your device after flashing the device, put the device back in fastboot mode. Then type in the following command in the Terminal or Command Window you had opened earlier -:
fastboot oem lock
This will re-lock the bootloader of your Nexus device, restoring your warranty and putting the device back to complete stock.

Thank you, but is there a way to boot into safe mode if the phone isn't turned on? I can not get to the power menu since I can't turn the phone on...
I can only access the recovery menu.

Data backup
Alternate method you can do is that you have to download a software by name 'DROID EXPLORER' - (try to google it) you will find this software from the internet. Then install the software on your PC or Laptop. Once you open the software it will take some time to download the sdk files from the internet then install the windows sdk files also.
Later you go into the recovery mode with the usb cable connected to your PC. Then open the Droid Explorer software you will see your phone connected picture. Now double click and open it go to sdcard and copy all your pictures and other files to your system.
Finally, Once you backed up all your files now you can reflash with the proper rom from the recovery mode. From directly inserting the rom.zip file into the sdcard and run the custom rom after you wipe the partitions properly in recovery.
Note: Before wiping the partitions always unmount the system, data, cache and then wipe it.

[HELP] Bricked Umi Zero

Hello. Sorry for my english. I want flash my phone via rootjoy to Arcatarc's MIUmIZERO and i only can see miui logo. next i want back to stock rom from needrom via sp flash tool, i followed instructions and i stop, when red status back not change for 20 minutes. and i can't charge my phone, can't conected to pc, can't turn on, looks like dead. How unbrick my phone? please help

If it's stuck on the MIUI screen then it's possible the bootloader wasn't flashed properly.
If you can reboot the phone in fastboot you can flash the bootloader via PC.

it is dead . the phone wont turn on . the pc wont recognise it anymore , it was fine ... untill i tried to flash stock through sp flash tool .
i was running antarcts emui,.... tried flashing using the method on umi digi forum : http://umidigi.com/forums/topic/how-to-restore-rom-version-3-03-2/ ... preloader was unticked, and when i tried firmware uopgrade option...nothing happened, and the phone was dead after that.

I managed to make it boot.
The problem is I have twrp and some chinese recovery . And I cant go back to stock.
Fastboot cant flash recovery for some reason ... so I can go back to rootjoy.

use adb side load an try to flash a working rom, the original one from umi website or emui.

can you get in recovery mode? volume (+ or - try both) and power button for some seconds
if yes go adb side load, (check google) and transfer an original rom, then flash it again in the recovery

My Umi Zero is bricked, because I cannot mount /system. I can get into the TWRP, but I cannot do anything, even restore my backup because of this. Does anyone have idea what to do?

If the system is unstable with popups etc or with damaged partitions you can get past that with TWRP.
Boot into recovery Wipe/Advanced Wipe. Then after that is completed, without rebooting, Format Data. That should sort out your partitions.
Then Install ROM from the recovery. It will need to be on the device. If your new ROM is not already there plug in a USB lead and transfer the zip file from your pc.
If you want to re-install your backup, do that instead.
If that doesn't work Backup in TWRP, even though there is no system. Then copy your Nandroid backup (must have been made via TWRP) and paste into the same folder as the Backup you just made, overwriting if asked.
I have had to do all this myself!

Umi Zero can not start.
But recovery seems to be working.
1) TWRP recovery 2.8.2
After full wipe, my TWRP recovery write "Unable to mount /SYSTEM"
The same message I have if I try to flash original 3.10 ROM via TWRP.
It is impossible to mount or format or repair SYSTEM via recovery
But it is possible to see files in FileManager and go to Fastboot and ADB mode
2) ADB and Fastboot mode.
Impossible to flash any partition.
"boot" - checksum error
"recovery" - "not support flash" message
"system" - filesystem created, start "erasing" and freeze. If I disconnect phone, have got message "failed (too many links)"
adb sideload does not work also
3) SP Flash Tool
I tried with full 3.10 ROM and with CRT 3.0 recovery
Download mode and Format+Download mode.
The same result: yellow bar finished and got message "Checksum error" or something like that.
All this experiments change nothing in phone. I still have TWRP recovery and "unable to mount /SYSTEM" message.
Any advices?

Did you Advance Wipe and Format Data?
I found that worked.
Alternatively, you could use Rootjoy to put just about any ROM on. CM 12.1 works ok.
Once you have a stable installation, install a custom recovery like TWRP 2.8.7 from Needrom. I used Mobileuncle, an app from the Playstore. However, I looked just now and it doesn't seem to be available.
I have tried Rashr, but couldn't get it to work.
Once you have it all stable you can flash the ROM you really want via TWRP.

Advance Wipe and Format Data or flashing new stable ROM via TWRP did not work for me. The same result- unable to mount /system.
Rootjoy and Mobileuncle could be used if phone is working. My phone works in recovery mode only.
I tried to flash different recoveries but did not find the way to do this. As I wrote, Sp Flash Tool, Fastboot and Adb Sideload did not make any changes to my recovery. I think, flash new recovery will help if I found the way)
Or if I discover the method to test and\or repair /system partition from PC

I have already done all this with my daughter's Zero.
However, it's in bits at the moment while we wait for a part from China. So I can't go through the process with you live, step by step.

I am trying to find the tool to remap internal memory, to move SYSTEM part to other physical place. But did not find it yet.
What was your way?

Zero stutters, processes crash or the phone will not boot into System
Have you already tried a Factory Reset or re-installed the ROM?
What can you do?
You could try the following. However, if your phone blows up, orders a takeaway or elopes with your girl-friend, please don’t blame me.
1. Provided you already have TWRP custom recovery installed and your phone is powered down boot into Recovery: hold the volume down and power buttons until the Zero logo appears then let go
2. Select Wipe/Advanced and select Dalvik Cache, System, Cache and Data. Slide to execute
3. Select Format Data/ type yes and slide to execute
4. Reboot into Recovery without installing a new ROM
5. Select Backup, choose SD card rather than internal storage and give the file a memorable title like Blank Backup and date. Select Boot, Logo, Recovery and Uboot. Slide to execute
6. The next step requires you to have a Nandroid backup made via TWRP already made of a stable ROM. If it isn’t stable or you don’t have one I have attached a clean backup below. It’s derived from Cyanogen Mod 12.1. This is based on Lollipop 5.1, with Gapps and rooted. I have found this to work. As the title of the file suggests, it’s a factory reset, ie no personal data included. Download it to your pc unzip and save it.
7. Connect your phone to your pc via USB cable and open Windows Explorer
8. Find your stable backup or the one below and drill down until you see the folder with 15 files, starting with data.info and ending with uboot.emmc.win. Select all and Copy.
9. Open another window and find the TWRP folder on the SC card of your phone. Drill down to the same folder containing similar files as to step 8 above. Click in folder and Paste. When prompted select Copy and Replace, all and Ok
10. If your pc doesn’t show your phone and the SD card, in recovery select Mount and USB storage.
11. In Recovery select Restore and the Blank Backup (or whatever file name you gave it, now populated with usable ‘data’). Slide to execute
12. Give it time to load and boot up
13. You should be good to go!
If you don’t like CM 12.1 installing a new Launcher from the Playstore, like Cheetah will make it run smoother. Everything after that is down to you.
Of course, you could flash another ROM via TWRP
The backup below was made via TWRP 2.8.6. This is also attached below. You can install this via a previous version of TWRP as an image. Unzip it first.

How to flash TWRP and Root Moto X Style on Marshmallow

I am using moto x style and unlocked bootloader with 'Windroid Universal Android Toolkit' v2.5 but cannot flash TWRP and root this apl. Today I tried flash TWRP and then root but after showing 'Congratulation' pop up,my phone stucked on 'No command' page. I tried twice and same result. Later i check there is either no TWRP or root by SuperSU. And i see youtube video and and read many XDA forum and comments and most of the users says the phone stuck on M logo page when reboot after the root process. And all says its a issue with Marshmallow. And most of the xda posts and youtube video are made during 5.1.1 so there is no problem in that video during flash TWRP and root. So i need a seamless process to flash TWRP and root on Marshmallow so that it doesnot stuck on M logo. And I dont want to downgrade to L for root. And unluckily if it stuck M logo thwn what to do to go back to home screen?Thank you.

My build no is 24.49-18-4. So is this process suitable for this build no? And still i dont flash TWRP. I tried with "Windroid Universal Android Toolkit app" to flash TWRP. though it showed a 'Successful' pop up but it didn't. Can I go with any old process to flash TWRP or u have a new process?

Step 1 - Stop using toolkits! They rarely work right on modern Android devices. With the Moto the only safe, reliable way to root is manually.
I don't know what the 'old way' is to flash TWRP your referring to here... I recommend one time booting twrp with "fastboot boot twrp.img" command (replace twrp.img with your actual twrp image file) then perform a backup to the SD card or USB OTG device and put it away for safe keeping. Then flash twrp either with twrp you have booted, or manually with "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img"
The rooting method I linked before is valid for all Marshmallow builds, if you have Lollipop or Nougat you need to find a different method.

On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:

You should now be in fastboot mode.
Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot reboot

After typing fastboot reboot, hold the key combo and boot to TWRP. Once TWRP is booted, TWRP will patch the stock ROM to prevent the stock ROM from replacing TWRP. If you don't follow this step, you will have to repeat the install.

So Moto is a tad different... After you flash recovery, do not reboot with fastboot, instead use the Vol Dn key select Recovery and press Power to start it. When the splash screen comes up, allow changes to system, then I the TWRP main menu select Reboot - Recovery, the device will start TWRP again and it should be "locked" in. From there perform the rooting.

That mean after typing fastboot flash recovery twrp.img press enter and then i can plug off the usb keeping my device on fastboot then changes to recovery and do the rest?
Btw suppose if i dont want to root it at that time,then what i do? I mean just after flash recovery how to go to home screen without rooting?
And when i want to perform root process later,after installing SuperSU zip if I press power button and vol down then may I go to twrp recovery or ph stock recovery?

OK... I'm confused, why are you unlocking and installing twrp if your not going root or flash a custom ROM?

I will definately do so. I also want to use CM14.1 but i want to do so step by step. Actually after facing issues 2-3 times i am little bit worry now. That is true. So hesitate to perform both at a single time.

You don't need to root if your going CM, flash TWRP, backup, and flash CM. You don't need to over complicate it.
If you boot (not flash) TWRP and backup then get a copy to safe place there is little risk of anything going wrong.

Ok. But is there any regular chance of going wrong during flash TWRP or flash CM? I backed up all internal important data to external sd card and when I perform these process I just remove that sd from phone.
You pls tell me how to go to home screen after flashing TWRP?
And if I need to root it later then also what to do then? I mean if then I press power and vol minus then will I get TWRP recovery to root it or it will be redirectred to phone custom recovery?

There is always a chance of something going wrong, no one can guarantee everything will be fine. We have had people do everything perfectly but something happens and it's bricked... It's rare but does happen.
After you flash TWRP in the bootloader, press Vol Dn until it says Recovery and press power to start it, after several seconds you will get a screen that will ask if it can write to system, select yes, the next screen will be the TWRP home screen.
Once you flash TWRP, your stock recovery is gone, but you access it the same way... Power off, press and hold PWR+Vol Dn and in the bootloader menu select Recovery and press power.

After you flash TWRP in the bootloader, press Vol Dn until it says Recovery and press power to start it, after several seconds you will get a screen that will ask if it can write to system, select yes, the next screen will be the TWRP home screen.
Once you flash TWRP, your stock recovery is gone, but you access it the same way... Power off, press and hold PWR+Vol Dn and in the bootloader menu select Recovery and press power.

Thank you very much for your kind guidance and quick reply. I will perform this may be tomorrow and then inform you. If it is bricked or stucked in any stage/page then is there any instant process to go back to safety?

I am listing here only the commands,u just tell me is this ok?
adb devices
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot devices
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
fastboot boot twrp.img
Will these commands directly take me to twrp page?
And here I put a pic of the twrp page. If I dont want to root it then what to do? Click reboot option or anything else to do?

Your last two are redundant, either flash or boot, you don't have to do both, but each has a purpose... Flash is permanent, boot is transient and will disappear on a reboot.
Boot TWRP first, the first time it will not take you to the main page initially but show you a notification page asking if you want allow it to make changes to the system or keep it read-only, this time only do not allow changes... Then the main screen of TWRP will be displayed and you should do a full backup of all partitions to the SD card.
Flash will just write the recovery partition, it doesn't start anything, you select recovery from the fastboot menu to start it.

So after "fastboot boot twrp.img" i have to allow to make changes and have to do a nandroid backup. After that will I get option to "Reboot?"
And later when I went to recovery I will get twrp page instead of stock recovery? 1st I think I should flash cm13 then root then upgrade to 14.1 bcz still a feel little worry to root it on stock rom.

No, almost every part of what your saying is wrong...
Boot twrp and do not allow changes first time and backup. This will give a clean backup to restore from if things go badly.
After this is complete, in TWRP go to Reboot menu and select Bootloader, flash TWRP, do not reboot but use the bootloader menu to start TWRP. This time allow it to make changes to system. At the main menu if twrp go to Reboot - Recovery the device will restart and TWRP will load automatically, this step will lock in twrp so the stock OS doesn't replace it.
You only need to root stock rom, you don't need to root CM roms as they are already rooted (there are a few roms that are not pre-rooted but they are rare and none of the ones your talking about). As far as CM 13 vs 14.1 I can't really help you but from I've read both are stable enough for a daily driver device.

After typing 'fastboot flash recovery twrp.img' i switch to recovery and select it. But it shows recovery failed,bla bla in red colour. I tried 3 times but same result. What to do? now again when I go to the recovery,i see still it is the stock recovery.

I have tried to follow the guide but after pressing volume up and down button the phone does not boot. Only shows it is in orange state.
Also if I hold the volume down button and the power button, it shows booting in fastboot.
But the FlashOne app cannot detect any phone.

What should I do? You need to read, the answers to your questions are here a million times over. Always do your homework first. Also thank someone who helps you. Otherwise they will not continue helping you.
FlashOne: Why are you using FlashOne? You are not bricked. Also FYI, if using FlashOne , you have to be in EDL mode. not fastboot.
Now here is probably good news, since you can enter fastboot then you are very likely just fine,and you are definitely not bricked. However, you will probably end up losing any files that you had on the phone, because the user data( storage ) will most likely need to be formatted, (type yes reboot to recovery)
So my instructions are to help get your phone working again, not to recover data. Unfortunately, you didn't provide much information so I have to assume some things.
Is the bootloader unlocked?
Have you flashed custom roms before?
Which phone do you have? A Leeco X5?? A Leeco X6??
Let guess and say that maybe bootloader is unlocked, you are asking a question on XDA so maybe that is a safe guess?
What you need to do is use ADB or the the Tool all in One and flash Recovery and root. Here comes the reading part again, I can't explain everything or I will be here all day. I assume that you know how what Recovery and root is?
Download the correct TWRP Recovery for your device, if you don't know your way around ADB too well.
You can use Mauronofrio's "TOOL ALL IN ONE" for removing encryption, installing TWRP, Root, your ROM, Gapps, and even to restore to stock Recovery, or to flash a stock Rom
Read that thread for instructions or for any questions.
If your device not recognized it is a usb driver issue, ensure that device drivers are installed and You will need to reinstall the Google USB driver, and while you are at it check to make sure adb is up to date. The All in One tool can do all of this for you, its with the advanced menu section. ** You will need to temporarily disable Windows defender for installation. **
Use the All in One tool to flash Recovery, then boot to recovery.
Ensure that you have TWRP installed permanently by rebooting to Recovery and then rooting the phone.
Always reboot to Recovery and check the boxes to install TWRP when rebooting to recovery
To remove encryption you will always need to format the storage
Not wipe >> Choose Format > type yes> Reboot to Recovery)**
(If you see a message that says there is no OS installed are you sure> Click Yes, then reboot to Recovery, ignore message about no OS)
When you reboot to recovery swipe to be able to read and write to the device.
Use an OTG Usb adapter to connect a USB to your phone and flash your prefered rom, Gapps, and root. Reboot to recovery, thenn reboot to system. If you were successful, the error message will be gone and you will be able to set up the phone.
As mentioned the tool will help you with installing your rom, Gapps, and root.
The All in One Tool can completely restore your phone to stock if absolutely needed. It actually links to Mauronofrio's server and it has all of the significant EUI Stock Roms, in case you want to restore the stock rom.

I have the same problem with umidigi bison, I tried to root with the mtkroot tool v2.5.8, the process ended correctly but when I turned on it showed orange, the problem is that I cannot enter with any combination of keys, it does not recognize adb, please help
