Can you point me in the direction of a development course or "how-to"? When I get my S4 I'll wanna mod it by theming many of the new white menus to black, perhaps a 25 toggle mod and various other things. I don't know much of anything about this stuff so I'd really appreciate the help. My skills don't go any further than ROM flashing and maintenance.

Hello,
I was thinking the other day about how we dont see any metamorph themes for the HD2 at all. I use to have a MT3G and back then, you could Metamorph ANYTHING you wanted to in a build that wasnt your taste. I hear a lot of newer people asking how they can change this or that and its not really possible unless they are familiar with ADB. So to make a long story short, I thought maybe a few people would like to get together and make a few Metamorph themes with me. I see some really cool ones in other phone threads, maybe we can start by porting a few over.
Any themers with me?
I think if we can get a few to work, a lot of people would use them.
P.S. I would've posted this in the HD2 themes and apps but EVERYTHING in there has to do with Windows.
Count me in, I will love to help out..

Hello everyone,
Here is my quick story: I was looking around on colormeandroid.com and I noticed a cool screenshot so I read the post from the author about the screenshot and he said he was using this theme : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770315 so I checked out the theme and it looked very cool IMO and I thought it would be an amazing addition to the collection of themes for the droid 2. The only problem about this theme is that I wasn't really sure how you would go about making all of the extra files compatable for a non cyanogen mod rom. This would be waaayyy easier on everyone if we had a CM rom for the D2 but of course we don't. I can do a bit of photo editing and I know general information on porting themes but I am not very good at it so I was wondering if one of our many talented developers would take the time to at least look into porting this over to the droid 2!
Thanks so much for bothering to read this far,
Ljbaumer

I would think if you talk with the DeFused team you might be able to get it to work with the Fission and Fused roms.
.... well, pretty much everything, from flashing roms to boot screens.
Most of the instructions, both here and modaco and other sites are well documented, but arnt easy for the layman to follow or to know why one does something in a process.
Id like to see a blow by blow guide with commented out notes so us noobs can get a grasp as to whats happening.
Perhaps with a clear difficulty level to show whats tried and tested and whats at an alpha stage for eg the cm mod vs pauls mod to stop fopk getting unstuck.
Comments?

Would be nice to have a list of all the various mods and roms for the Vega with links and tutorials. There's a thread like that on Modaco I think, but I believe its just related to Paul's mod and usb drivers.

you'll prob find quite a lot of stuff coming from me in respect of lower end stuff in the coming weeks - tutorials and the like. I've been concentrating on my defy recently but am going to put that to one side and concentrate on the vega for a while. I have observed and understand fully there are alot of new people to Android and its well needed.
Hello all
Modaco and here have always had alot of great advice, but for utterly new users some terms etc are diff to understand.
I know that flashing a rom isnt for the faint hearted,, but with a device like the vega, which is essentially crippled without pauls rom etc itd be great to get a simple guide to make this devce wha it could be.
Btw apologies for terrible spelling, but the stock vega keybioard is a pain.
Looking forward to any unbiased guides.

I love all the roms, kernels, and themes brought to me by the samsung epic commmunity, but I wanna learn how to do this all by myself. I wanna learn how to understand and make a rom better, and make a blazing fast kernel.
Any tips on where to start or which code i should learn to write first? Any reccomendations or tips would be awesome, thanks.
Me too.
I got basic understanding on how to make moded roms, add apk's,themes, theme apk's,add kernels to roms but thats about it.
Coding zi robably require knowledge of some sort of computer language.
Well im starting to theme first... get used to xmls and suck and move on... and I was told to pick up bagginner books on java.

Im really interested in a s4 rom, just got today but having some trouble finding a rom for sprint, first is there a way to get wicked tmoble working on sprint gs4, if not what is the most comparable rom to wicked for sprint s4(full customization while still retaining all TW features, hotspot, and so on)? any help appreciated.

So i have read, and what i have found is that if the rom is for sprint it doesnt have anything, im not asking for a best rom or whats your advice on a good rom, im saying i switched from carriers and am trying to find the closest rom to my old carriers rom. So far i have tried a coulple roms, either missing TW features that wicked had or not customizable at all(or what im trying to change). And FYI theres not much reading to do when it comes to the sprint roms, there is what 12 of them that are close to updated? and only 18 TW roms that i could find(and also only 18 listed on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2303917, but anyways thanks for not helping at all. If i was just lazy i would have asked what is the best rom but i would like other users advice on a similar rom, isnt that the point of the forums? And im hoping someone else made the switch to sprint and can give me some advice considering so far 4 roms i have tried have not compared at all to wickeds level and no i dont plan or want to put the ported wicked 5 on my gs4 seeing as how old it is. I have done my research on the roms and there features like i said its around 12 roms that are updated and most dont have anything that makes them shot past the stock roms.
The only way to figure out what the best rom for you is, is testing them out yourself.
No two roms on the same carrier, let alone across carriers, are going to have exactly the same features.
And if you're unhappy with your perceived lack of ROM support on this phone, you could always learn to develop your own personal ROM that has all the features that you want.
