Ah ok my mistake, quite a major one tho
It wasn't a 'known' exploit, I discovered it early March and notified software security operations through a contact of mine but I was asked not to make the exploit public since there is no workaround at this moment. I trust it'll be fixed soon.
What a bug!!
Delete the demo apk from system app or disable it using manage app (not tried disabling it as I remove this kind of detritus as soon as I get root).
Deleting it definitely stops the code from working .
Sent from my C6603 using Tapatalk 2
Without root there is no workaround to fix this, the app can't be disabled in any way. Root in itself opens up a whole new slew of security issues so that's not really a solution...

It seems that if I use my phone (ie, run another app or basically minimize the call status and do anything) while on a call using bluetooth I cannot unlock with the finger scanner any longer. Im not sure if that is the exact scenario that causes it but it always seems to happen after I use bluetooth which I only use for long work calls. A restart fixes it. Anyone else seeing this?
Tnx, Mark

Happens to me too
Yep I have the same problem. Seems like it always occurs after phone calls when I haven't restarted my phone in a few days, so I just restart and forget about it.
+1 for me...same exact scenario.
Same here, but if you bothered to search you would of found that it is a known issue with this phone and there is nothing to do to fix it besides rebooting.

It's a known problem with 1.8.3. I had it so I went back to 1.5.7 and now I'm on gingerbread. Widgetlocker does seem to fix it.
is this fixed on 2.3.4?

No, I'm having the same issue on 2.3.4. At first it worked but then after a while it started having hiccups
Why guys don't you report it on official moto's forum?
Before the offician OTA, gets out, so they can fix it!

You got it updated .24??
Sorry guys.. triple posts.. blame the internet.. not me..

I just got mine updated to .24 as well. I checked the official ASUS development thread and it was reported to be a few days out, but I guess Google approved it, didn't enforce the quality check, or ASUS just went ahead and released it. Anyway, let's see how much of this firmware is a fix to the reboot problem.
One should do a cold boot after updating. See asus Facebook thread.
Got mine right now. And I was just about to root this thing. Hope it helps out.

VPN L2TP/IPSEC still not working.
I need that.
So anybody can give an inside review of this new update? Say it's fixing this and that.. or adding features or security patches..

Grr!!! Gmail is still bombing on me with this release. Asus, why can't you get this figured out!??!?!?

Ics to .24 us
I downloaded the .24 firmware and went to install and got halfway thru and got droid on his back with the yellow triangle.Rebooted and when i unlocked a window popped up and said DM CLIENT has stopped.I went to settings apps ,manage apps pressed all to show all apps went to DM CLIENT cleared data then forced close and rebooted. After reboot went to settings about tablet check updates and got the .24 firmware update and pressed to install and the update went in smooth as silk.Just posting this incase anyone has this problem. Mine might have come from that i waas rooted on .17 and went back to stock for .21 because ota rootkeeper didn't work and when i cleared that and installed stock .17 and updated to stock .21 ....so hope this helps someone
Hmm..of all the things people are experiencing, Gmail crashing is the one thing not happening to me at all (on any release).
I just got .24 update and surprised , now we have faceunlock thing , It works great , not perfect , I don't see any difference here but I hope they also fix rr and sod which makes me sick

Gmail has always been fine for me too. The only real issue I have had is the RR's and only in deep sleep. Until the last patch (.21), they were always clean. Since then any RR I have gotten has resulted in a boot loop or frozen at the Asus logo. If I run WakeLock, no RR's at all. So heres hoping .24 will fix the one issue. I will add .24 did not break my root either.....applied the patch, restored root, did a cold reboot, turned off WakeLock and all is well....so far.

Well, I was starting to look for methods because I'm sick of the reboots. I was on XDA looking for a method when all of a sudden, I saw the update. Will still look for a method since this update wasn't 4.0.4.
Oh and the gmail app has never crashed for me.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I have had Gmail crash, but its really intermittent and tends to come and go in ways I cannot explain. Sometimes any email I open will make the app freeze, but most of the time it works fine. So far, no Gmail crashes on .24 for me.... yet.

It's a hardware revision problem. Some people experience force closes in applications like GMail due to (I suspect) a memleak in the GPU driver. Lots are effected by it but don't notice it unless they do a lotta stuff in gmail. Others have no issue.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
use gmail app everyday, no issues at all
Hi guys, does this update fix the problem where you can't wake the TF101 with the keyboard dock's keypress (with the power saving feature disabled)? Since ICS was released up till the last update, this feature has been broken and it was working very well in HC but broken since ICS was out for the TF101 - is it working now (or has it been working before for anyone in ICS for TF101)?
Today i got alot of problems with the newer Galaxy S4 update.
1. I used the what'sapp apk file from the what's app makers and i get security errors.
2. I tried to use my banking app (ING Bank) and now i can't even access it duo security problems
This firmware is terrible if it comes to security stuff, i can't even update the samsung policy to use those apps
Anyone has a fix for this ? if this is not getting fixed then this will be my final Samsung phone...i am sick of the **** stuff they add lately.

News are correct, we will get KitLat in April, but there is no correctday, but it's in April, I saw that in gsmarena

Way too long of a wait.
My Z1 on 4.3 has major Bluetooth and memory leak issues that I need resolved now.
I need the move apps to SD card function also. I'm completely out of space.
All news outlets including GSMArena, Androidpolice etc are just referencing that french carrier who said it would come out in April. It's all from the same source. My bet is still end-March, maybe earlier.
April sony originally said q1 not q2 the software last I heard was in testing stage 2weeks ago
Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
But that's the carrier version of the Android. I think that we might get KitKat in a few days, as Polish employee of Sony said. Look, that French carrier says, that 4.4 for G2 is coming out 3th March, but it's already released.
With Google trying to unify Hangouts and SMS, does this mean we will lose the normal SMS app if/when we update to kitkat or is that just for stock/nexus devices?
i dont like Hangouts, would rather keep the normal SMS app.

I think there's going to be stock and hangouts so u will probably have to pick which one u want

Sony is delaying the update so we buy Z2 to get kitkat. They should show us more respect instead or they are going to quickly lose freshly acquired customers like myself.
I agree, they make phones with kitkat and we must have kitkat with new phone releases or shows

That's too much waiting.. I mean, they have already made a customized KitKat for the XZ2.. And probably it's going to be the same for ours.. Why so long?
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I thought that we will get KitKat on this month, but maybe they found more bugs and maybe they are doing something, but as Z2 comes out, this is the date for KitKat

no such problems here on .136
everything runs fine, zero memory leak issues, plus phone now runs cooler and battery life is better.
as for Move to SD function, I have Nut's Rooted rom .136. with Folder mount this is no longer an issue.

Let just hope it won't be April 1st

I dont know if this has already been posted (im sure it has and mods can delete this if need be) but, the stock music app is a battery and RAM drainer and leaker, so much to the point where it cripples the phone into an unusable state. In order to fix this problem, i would recommend switching to Play Music, as it still has SD Card rights and doesnt generate this horrible problem. (This is what i am now doing) just wanted to inform anyone who didnt know/had the same problem i did!

Good to know that's it's definitely an issue in the application since we have Exynos version and you have Snapdragon.

Yeah, i was using the app for the first time yesterday during class, and it kept cutting out for no reason. I figured out the solution on the ride home. Play music seems to be working fine though! I dont know if Samsung can update it via samsung apps or play store or if it needs to be via OTA update, but they need to fix it.
