Liquipel for Nexus 4? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

When you go to the site : https://www.liquipel.com/shop/
on the slideshow it shows nexus 4 image with liquid as an image for pretreated devices.. so is this real?

Yes it's a special coating not looked at your link but seen it before

i know what liquipel is but is there available for our nexus 4? the picture on the site hints that there will be one i think cause right now you cant buy one for the nexus 4

Does this stuff make the phone waterproof or just splash proof? Looks cool nonetheless!

Makes it water resistant, a bit more than splash proof.
Should be resistant to accidentally falling in a pool etc too. Just don't expect to be swimming with your phone

"Disclaimer: Liquipel applies a preventative coating designed to aid in the event of accidental liquid exposure, and assumes no responsibility for water damaged devices. Liquipel does not recommend your device ever come in contact with liquid."
Waste of money. Unless they plug the headphone port and speakers and all other little gaps.
Save your money and buy a Sony if its important to you.

That disclaimer doesn't mean it's a waste of money. If they said "go drop your phone in water now that it's waterproof" is like a car company telling you to crash your car because it has airbags.
You obviously didnt read the info on the website, because it would explain why the headphone and speakers don't need to be blocked

bump waiting to find out if its true or not that they offer nexus 4 a liquipel treatment not if its waterproof or not

I emailed them to ask and they said that is not available for the n4. I'll put up a screen shot of the email in a bit
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2

they have it for the gnex. maybe their graphics dude thought the n4 was the same thing? just a theory

Just went to the official store kiosk at West Edmonton Mall, they said it is a JUST updated to be approved. Got it done for $60+ tax. Does work! Just washed my phone in the sink, still working!

I glanced at the link as I've seen a video before but why does it matter what phone you they use it on? I don't understand how its phone specific.

Indirectly it is device specific. They have to get the manufacture to "approve" the method they use does not damage the device and it may still consider to be under warranty after treatment. That is why not every device are listed. I believe you can get any of them done but you would have to take the liabilities instead in the warranty i think.

New xperia z water damaged...

So i bought my xperia z on friday, (well thursday night as i working in the phone industry) and decided to test the hype....
So i had my phone im and out of bowls of water (about 15 times) bounced off walls, dropped from above my head several times onto wooden /tiles/concrete etc.
And to my surprise the phone with stood all of the attempts to break/water damage it.
But i noticed the phone needed to be charged so i unplugged the rubber seal to charge it and once finished decided to show off again to my friends( forgot to mention that i was at a birthday party drinking heavily) dunked the phone back into the water and it went crazy.
I FORGOT TO PUT THE SEAL BACK IN.....
. So my phone was water damaged..
As i was able to do an insurance.
So all in all, i have never attempted this with any other phone in my life (this was a first) but i was highly impressed with the resilience of this flagship from sony the xperia z....
There wasent even a mark on the anti shatter film that is on front and back of the handset.
So bottom line is that if you are prone to accidents or just not good with phones in general. THIS IS THE PHONE FOR YOU AS TESTED TO THE MAX BY ME...
Just to note that the camera was perfect the whole time leading up to the forgetting to put the seal in...
I also got a few cool photos from under water...
So thats my story.......

Did it die inmidiatly when you put in the water with out the port closed?

That possibly could have helped. Haha.
Funny enough it didn't die.
I was still able to turn it on and bluetooth my photos that i had taken from the party to the new phone..
It did restart a few times and had like water marks on the underside of the screen near the charge port..
So presently suprise it still worked.
But i wont be doing this in a hurry again.
But good to know that if i spill a drink/use it in the bath and drop it down the toilet it would be fine.

I understand you might work in the industry, so do I, you must be a manger at a store with authority or something similar, as I know for a fact if I tried to exchange mine on the same basis as you did my manager would not allow me too....mainly because as soon as head office received it, they would charge the store the full cost of the handset for returning the phone which was BER. This charge would come out of the store's bonus profit meaning every consultant would be effected....pretty harsh for them when they had no involvement!
But cool story anyway bro! :good:
Not trolling dude, just a but far fetched for me...

Yeah... And while it's built to be a bit more shock-resistant than most phones, it is NOT built for wall-throwing and such.
It's quite impressive it survived that... But this is pretty much warranty fraud if you sent it back as faulty.

Suggestions please

So about 9 day into buying a galaxy s4 I accidently dropped it in a cup of water and only half an inch was submerged. Long story short, the phone broke because of it and I now have a new S4. However I am very afraid of how easily it can get water damaged. So I was wondering if anyone here tried Liquipel or have a great water resistant case. The active is sounding more interesting now after this episode.

I'm still amazed at how easily people make the dumbest assumptions based on their negligent behavior!
My suggestion is, DONT DROP IT IN WATER. ITS NOT A BOAT, ITS AN ELECTRONIC! THEY DONT MIX
Liquiped does work, although it's doesnt work on morons so dont go swimming with it
Thanks polish for such kind words. I am very aware it was my mistake so I don't blame Samsung. I just wanted to know what other things I could do from happening in the future.

I do understand, and i hope you understand this is not the waters fault, or the phones, but 100% yours.
Now, to put that in back, liquipel does work. I had it done on my S3 when i was in Miami. It works. Although, it's a water repellant, it does not waterproof the phone. There is a huge difference between both, one can but fully submerged in water and left there for hours without any consequence, the other might make it resistant to water droplets, rain, and perhaps being dropped in the sink with some water in it. The videos do show the phone fully working while being submerged, but its BS. If a phone is dropped in water, no matter how short, there will be damage. Aquapel might limit the damage but the phone will eventually die when the water starts drying up.
Watch this video to show you what it really does

[Q] My amoled cracked. Any Suggestions on what i should do.

I can't believe it happened to me but my amoled underneath the screen cracked while it was in its case. It cracked while I was getting into my truck.
How did others get theirs fixed? I have it insured by AT&T but it will cost another 200$ I only bought this a little over a month ago. Any other cheaper alternatives besides trying to fix it myself?

from the reports i've been hearing, fixing it yourself is actually more expensive, the $200 charge is cheaper then what the amoled is worth.
I would call samsung for just warranty repair. If internal is damaged but external has no sign of damage, they usually honor the warranty.
This is what I did, I called for warranty repair, they wanted the description of damage. It was pretty much as same as OP problem. They wanted me to send pictures via email both on and off screen. I guess they wanted to see if the glass was undamaged. After few email exchanges, they honored the warranty repair.
I always be blunt and frank with them but try not to be a ****. If you show respect and tell truth, they will be nice to you too.

I didn't pay any. Make sure you tell them external has no indication of any damages. Just keep teeling them that. Tell them digitizer/oled started making weird lines.
AT&T also has 1 year warranty as well so I would try both. But I always get better result straight through manufacturer than carriers.
I hope this helps and good luck.

Just get it returned, there's no need to contact LG directly like Force said though. I highly doubt someone intentionally put that hair there, accidents happen.

Are you sure it's void? There is a manufacturer warranty of 1 year and the Note 3 hasn't been out for a full year yet and if there isn't a nearby Samsung store you can always just mail it but expect to wait 3-4 for weeks for a new Note 3.
Your probably just better off waiting for the Note 4 to come out since it isn't really a serious problem, you could always cover it with a case too.

same issue. I take care of my N3 like an egg and still the bezel got the hairline crack. I bought some slickwraps crabon fiber and now its covered.
I read your thread and decided to check mine. It looks like there's a thin line right above the spen. But it's so straight it actually looks like a seam and like it belongs there.
I'm not freaking out about it. I take good care of my Note, but you're never going to keep it perfect.

If a hardware manufacturer can void a warranty for physical external faults all because of the software you use. Sounds to me that your countries laws need a little poking.
Here in Australia, root or no root, we would get it repaired under warranty.
Actually, talking about bezel, my bezel developed a crack under the volume rocker, never dropped and always in a case, my Note should be perfect, but it appears the mechanical use of the volume control has somehow damaged the bezel. Poor design? I know my local retailer will get it fixed (they told me they will), I just don't want to be without my phone for 2 weeks, will get my spare Note1 (loaned out) back soon and then the Note3 can go to the doctors.
