Nexus 4 Wireless Charger (Orb) - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have the nexus 4 wireless charger that google is selling. On my nexus 4 I have a seidio active case with kickstand. I cant seem to get the charger to charge the phone. I put the phone in the middle of the charger and it does show its charging but then when I wake up in the morning the phone is at like 61%. Do u think the case could be causing the issue? I think maybe the kickstand is to thick. Seidio dont make one without the kickstand.

I would take the case off. I have the orb too & it charges fine with no case. I have a poetic bumper, but that leaves the back open so it still charges with it on. I would imagine taking off the case will work.

I figured that would work but thats a hassle really. I think im going to find a new case. I really need a case that includes a holster like seidio does.

Mine charges fine with Seidio Active and Convert cases. You just have position it right -- not in the middle, but slide the phone up some until the kickstand part is almost resting on the charging surface of the orb. And make sure both surfaces are clean so that it sticks and doesn't slide down during the night. I've been using mine on my night stand for over a week now, with the case on, and haven't had any problems.

How far up is the kick stand on the orb? Mind taking a pic of how u have it placed?

I can when I get home from work -- around 4pm eastern time.

Okay thanks.

I remembered wrong. The kickstand part has to be up far enough that it's resting on the inner ring. You can even have it higher up than in the picture and it'll still charge -- same for the Convert case which is twice as thick.

So i tired it last night and raised it bit higher then your pic and it only charged to 78%. I give up on this qi wireless charging.

Energi To Go by Energizer for HTC Phones. Review :)

Ok so I got this for Christmas from my wife. However I never really played with it. Here is a pic. (borrowed from the net however this is the exact same as mine)

Well I had forgotten to charge my phone for a couple days. So even with my 3000mAh HiCap battery it was down to 10% and warning me. I had to run out the door and was not going to be able to charge it anytime soon. So I grabbed it and plugged in the "Energi To Go" booster pack. The Energi To Go pack started blinking 2 blue lights to signal it was charging and my phone changed from "low batt" to external power mode. I tossed it in my coat pocket all plugged in and over the course of an hour it took my phone from 10% all the way up to 80%. It was freaking cool.
Well that was about 2 weeks ago. Since then I have found that I could ditch the expensive Lithium batteries that it comes with and use Energizer 2500mAh rechargeable NiMh's. With the quick charger it can Zap charge 4 AA's from dead to full charge in 15mins. Granted when they come out of the charger they are so scorching hot you can barley handle them. So now I can charge my phone at night, toss the 4 charged AA's in my uhm, (what is the new name for a fanny pack that you carry in your hand) Man Bag / Murse, LOL. If I had to I could probably go close to a week without any outside power. Or at the very least a 12hr stretch of playing Bubble Breaker with super bright turned on.
Its nice to know that I can toss the Energi To Go adapter in my car and always have access to power no matter what, even if I forget my car charger or walking around a mall for hours on end with the wife.
Even if my batteries do die. I can pop into any corner market buy 2 more AA's and be on my way.
So if you find yourself running out of juice on the go. This seems to be a great invention. It uses standard USB so I might even see if it will charge my other USB powered things like my GPS module and other stuff. Hmm wonder if it would charge my blue tooth headset. Might get a bit uncomfortable wearing 2 AA's on my ear. But hey its worth a try riiiight. So for the 30 bucks. I say pick one up. I really love mine.
Thanks for the review. I saw one of these in a store recently and almost picked it up...I think I will next time.

Make a device cradle for a penny...

I'm still laughing at myself...check it out...a large binder clip makes a great display stand with charging functionality. Just pull off the squeezing clips after you clamp down on the USB plug. It's actually pretty stable too. I'm sure you could even velcro it to your desk for more stability

F**k me! That's great!
Can't beat that.... +1
nice, now if only my girlfriend would let me make a hole in the desk to make it look built-in!!
excellent...works perfect!
ha just did it, thanks!
As clever as it is,... be prepared to find a replacement socket for your phone after a while. The connector can not handle the stress of supporting it's own weight for very long.
You should try to find a way to support the phone along with the plug-in.
This is, however, a good start to a generic cradle.
Fun find!

the phone rests on the clip... what you talking about?
What about front to back movement?
Subtle movment wears on the connector circuit board.
thats what i mean... the front and back of mine rests on the clip. i have the rubberized snap case on so maybe my fitment is different.
I have just bought the clip and the "poor´s guy cradle"is just great! no problems here. Great idea!
Amazing found !!!

I will pay you $5 for this brilliant item!!!
Thinking outside the box. Great idea. As far as wear and tear, I think as long as you make sure you are putting the weight on the paper clip and not the device I wouldn't think there would be any problems even long term? I would go the extra length to cover the metal around the clip with something, wouldn't be hard, I don't like anything metal touching my phone. Heck, I haven't even set my phone down on a hard surface yet in fear the back diamond points will wear.
My only question right now is: I wonder how good it would work if I clipped in the dongle so I can have earphones connected for radio, and still charge it through ac, hmm and what would happen if you plug in the usb cable to the side of the dongle? Would you still be able to access it from a computer while its charging through ac or no?
Just did this mod.. Works great... Using the "handles" squeezed into the base works to stabilize the phone better when pulling it off the charging station . I will need to find some simple padding to rest the weight of the phone since it floats a bit over the clip..
... and I always thought I'm CHEAP ...

Cheap good xoom case UK

Well I don't normally do this, but I ordered a case from eBay and within 2 days it arrived
The cost of this leather case including postage was £12.98 (free postage)
It's got quite a good solid feel to it and fit's my xoom very well, I half expected it to be rubbish for the money but it's not.
I would highly recommend this to any xoom owner. It's the only one I found that you have access to all ports and also allows the indicator light to show through when I get an email.
Mines the 3G version but I dont think that makes a difference. Also because the flap has a crease in it, this allows it to stand up for watching a film BUT if you lay it down the other way you use it to type on. Using it this way puts the xoom upside down sadly but it then allows you to charge it from the top
O.. and did I mention you also get a FREE screen protector with it!! I haven't fitted mine yet however.. I hate doing them because I always mess up and end up with lots of bubbles and fluff.. lol
Apol's if this is breaking any rules, but I'm that impressed with it I thought I would pass this on.

Happy xoom'in

Ermmm not wery well made. I have the same and the xoom dosn't fit properly.

It is not the only one which provides access to all sensors and buttons, and it doesn't provide access to charger port while being closed - as all other currently known cases.
Btw, you posted that in the wrong forum...
this is the one i got and its great. Had no problems with the ports, the holes some to be in the perfect position.

only "down side" (not sure if it is even that bed to be called that), is that the "hinge" of the case is at the bottom. So when charging the case cannt be closed all the way, btu i just fold it back(so the screen is not covered) when chargin and put in a drawer.
apart from what its a very good case for under £15.
that looks like its the same case. I think for the money its a bargain.
Had my xoom for few days now and loving it. Starting to use it more and more now... looking forward to the uk 3.1 update. From what I've been reading it might be out on the 27th may...
Fingers crossed
I bought the tuff-luv pull-tab case from eBay for about £14. Very nice.
Hi guys, I bought this one.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/view...=1&nav=WON&nid=32518807697&trxId=583007023013
Only £4.99 with free delivery
The case is a nice tight fit and adds no bulk, all port holes are a perfect match.
Best device case I've bought (cheapest too)
Screen protector that came with it was one of the cheaper ones that leave smear marks etc but I decided not to use it, I bought the item just for the case anyway.
I can't rate it highly enough guys.

Torras slim cases & wireless charging pad

Hi All-
I want to share my thoughts on Torras clear cases and wireless charging pad. I found the company while looking for a case for my iPhone. I've use their thin hard plastic case and silicone cases which are great. I'd like to make a request from them to make these type cases for our Note's haha... Anyway I received 3 soft tpu cases for review which I'm trying for first time. We have one all clear it's soft tpu similar to the Ringke air I've use previously. It keeps the phone slim while showing off colors.. My favorite is the blue trim case which matches great with blue phone. They also sent me a black trim which I've seen with the white and aura colors nice combo.. All cutouts are aligned perfectly and easy access to S pen. Also the camera cutout gives it nice protection. My only gripe with clear cases is fingerprints. It's better than phone naked but I find myself wiping them on many occassions. I have not found a clear case to cure my OCD with keeping it fingerprint free haha..... Screen lip is slim I would prefer a little higher while placing phone screen face down but on par with other slim cases. I've not dropped my phone but I think these are good for keeping scratches away and will survive a minor drop ..I will report back once I've used them for a longer period. So far good I've been using 3 weeks switching between them, Lastly the wireless charging pad. It has fast wireless 15W with QC 3.0 adapter and it gets the job done nicely. No issues with phone heating up. I like the bottom has a grippy ring so on my table it doesn't slide. It's well made and easy drop and charge. I also like the brick included with a solid overall package . Anyway you can check specs yourself. Thanks for your time if you've made it this far along my post. [emoji16]

[Review] ZEROLEMON Note 10+ 5000mAh Battery Case

I've been using the battery case for a bit and have put it through its paces. It definitely isn't as bulky as 10k mAh battery packs in the past and I would consider that a positive. It gives more than a full charge, and can easily get me an extreme day of nonstop usage.
What it does lack is the ability to fast charge. It takes approximately 2 hours to charge my phone through the case, and the battery case itself takes closer to 4 hours for a complete charge. It's what I would consider an overnight charging situation if you want to top up both the phone and the case.
I've tried charging it wirelessly with my Samsung Qi charger and it works without issue, but the NFC function does not work through this case. If you're using contactless payment options, you'll need to remove it. USB-C audio is also not supposed by this case. You'll have to go wireless.
The phone slips in and out of the case easily by simply bending the top part of the TPU case back and sliding the phone in. Contrary to past battery cases with larger capacities, it doesn't feel like the USB-C port will break - like it did with my Note 8. It slides in and out like butter.

The battery case will double the weight of your phone. You're looking at a good 12.1 ounces with the case on. This is not something I'm concerned about as it is to be expected with a battery case. It's not too bad unless you're wearing skinny jeans.
Android Auto works flawlessly with the case. There's no additional lag or connection problems connecting it to my car's infotainment system.
The battery case is also fully compatible with DEX and file transfer while the phone is in the case. I didn't experience any difference while using the battery case.
The case itself does not give much front lip protection for face-down placement. There is enough to separate it from the face of the table, but you won't be getting any rugged case lip protection. The TPU is stiff and thick enough for a small drop but it's not a drop-tested case by any measure, especially on the top area, so don't expect too much in this area.
Cutouts for the ports, speakers, mics, etc., are on point. Strangely enough, the cutouts are actually even more accurate than the ones on my UAG Plasma case. The battery case also does not impede the use of any of the cameras or the flash.
While it does lack NFC, and audio through USB-C support, I have no qualms using it for those days where I'm on my phone like it's a marathon.
about how much extra battery life are you seeing from this?
5000mah battery will get you what 60-70% charge once you factor in the transfer loss?
How much this battery cost?
