malfunction? - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I have a nexus 4 of 9 days, and something happens rarely.
Block the night. Remain locked at night. It may be a malfunction? or a rom problem?
Not root
Thanks

At night when the phone sits idle, the screen remains black and no longer listening.
Morning he must do a reset to start.
What could it be?

Are you rooted if not RMA that sucker sounds like you got a refurb.

may be a conflict with Smart ram booster?

Try doing factory reset and flashing the stock ROM again to see if the malfunction still happens.
If the malfunction still happens, return it to Google (RMA) for a replacement.

[Q] Freezing nexus 10

well, i just recieved my Nexus on Thursday and really satified. But, after 2 days using, it freeze and reboot for several times, today is 3. Just wondering is it because of hardware or firmware and is there someone have the same problem?
Mine does this too. I'm holding out for a software update.

This is a known issue with 4.2. Rest assured, it's not hardware defect.

[Q] The phone is dead after flashing new Kernel

I had Franco's 110, then flashed Faux's kernel resetter and Motley's 37 one after another. Phone now would not turn on. I searched other threads and it seems like holding vol + and - together with Power, should fix it. However in my case, only the led turns on and stays solid red.
Any ideas?
Check and make sure you didn't flash a Nexus 7 kernel version.
If you did its toast.

Rest in peace if n7 kernel..
The Kernel file name is motley_422_n4_exp_build_37
However, Kernel resetter was downloaded from N7 thread, for some reason I was under impression its the same file...
The file name is grouper-faux123-reset-kernel-4.2.2

Kernel resetter is just the stock kernel. If you got it from the N7 forum its the N7 stock kernel.
Sorry.

Hi,
This is not the phone that is fragile, it's what the user do with it... If you flash a kernel from a Nexus 7 to the Nexus 4... for me it's legitim to have "a little problem"... It's the same thing for all the phones, try to flash a kernel from another phone instead the one make for your phone and see the result...
If you don't read correctly and don't paid attention at what you do or flash... It's not the phone that is the responsible...

Yea, but a lot of people have been having problems with the infamous "Red light of death" after simply rooting, or letting the phone battery completely deplete itself. I'm still gonna get this phone, but I'm kinda cautious. Does it come with a warranty from Google?

This issue and the battery issue you are referring to aren't related.
The N4 led just flashed red when there is an error. It could be a variety of things.

You bought a Nexus device. Use it. Root it. Flash it. Play with it. You worry too much. Stop being so paranoid. Again, if you carefully do the correct steps you will get the results you desire. If you miss a step you will be sad that you screwed up your phone. If you're in math class and you miss a step to the formula to the equation you will get it all wrong. Pay attention to all the little details. You will be a pro at rooting in the future if you follow the steps meticulously.

yeah not fragile at all. people don't know what they are doing (no offense guys). they just need to READ everything. the stickies at the top of the forums explain everything in detail. flashing a kernel for a completely different device is just asinine. as long as people arent stupid about things, fastboot can always save their asses.

im guessing so. i had the "red light of death" last night. i was using my phone at like 2% battery left, rebooted it and it said i had 5% left. big whoop my battery calibration is a little jacked. well i kept using it and instead of going through the shutting down thing when the battery died, the screen just went blank. again, because the battery calibration is way off. so i plug it in, and the light turns red for about 10 seconds. then the light turns off, and the battery charging icon appeared. i waited 10 mins for it to get a small charge then booted right up. not a single problem. i really dont get why everyone is having such freak accidents and problems with this phone.

Are you just trying at home? If you haven't already, try resetting your router/modem. The ole unplug for 10 seconds should do the trick.

Ghost fingers on touch screen...??

Hi guys,
I recently bought a Google Nexus 4. Great device! But now I have a problem with the touch screen I guess.
I have some ghost touches on the screen. They are always on the same places.
To be more specific, on the same X-as of the screen. 3 to 5 touches in horizontal direction, swiping and touching the screen.
It's not always there, that's what's bothering me.. what is gods name could it be...
I'll add a screenshot of the touches when I get a chance to...
I have this problem for about a week now. And I was wondering if someone knows the solution to this.
ROM: Cyanogenmod 10.1.2
Cheers,
Alexander

I have installed the custom rom the moment I got this device. It didn't happen before.. So I doubt it is a software problem. I'd rather think of it as a hardware problem, don't you think?
No-one?
If it started on custom Rom then flash back to stock to see if it still happens. If not then there you go.
If still happens even on stock then RMA the device.

I flashed another ROM CM10.2 UNOFFICIAL. Did a clean install.
Untill now it is reacting normal.. Let's wait and see.
I am thinking, could it be of some backup settings it is recovering from my google account?
Because it has no Gapps installed yet. Downloading at the moment.
Thanks in advance
As suggested, try stock.

Ok, The CM10.2 did not work. I disabled auto backup and recovery of Google settings and stuff and flashed the Stock ROM 4.2.2.
Also there was an official update to 4.3. And surprisingly enough, the device is responding normal again. Still though, i think it was very strange that the problem was also in the recovery...

Incoming call screen delay

Hi all.
I've been looking at different threads and a few people talk about it but not seen any fixes.
When I receive a call I get a 3-4 second delay before the screen wakes up meaning I don't know who is call or able to answer the call.
I'm running PA4 with r201 FK
If any one knows a fix please share.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Even we are facing similar issue on Note 2. Tried few things but issue still persists.
Seemingly got something to do with some service.
So it's not device related then?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Was just using my phone and tookna call, even when screen was on it still took a long time to show who was calling!?!
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Seems to be getting worse! I have to wait for about 5 seconds now, or maybe it already did.
Does no one have a fix?
Thinking about reverting to stock to see if that fix's it then maybe flash each thing one at a time and see when it breaks.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
If you're playing around with kernel's and under clocking the CPU this can affect how quickly the phone wakes up. But my phone has a delay of a few seconds before I am am aware of a call coming in. Maybe it will be fixed in a future update.
Phone : Nexus 4 /Rom : cataclysm / Kernel : Stock.
I've only installed them the same as others but they don't seem to suffer the same problems.
Any one have any fixes?

If you have DU Battery Saver or any similar app which puts your device on low CPU usage upon locking, then uninstall it. It worked perfectly in my case.
