[Q] Have 8858. Should I upgrade to AT&T 8860? - Focus General

When I connect to Zune it shows 8860 upgrade available. Is it wise to update or I'll lose my unlocked state? I currently have CleanROM 3.1 but no stable 8860 or 8862 stable ROM out there it seems.
Thanks.

I *just* applied the AT&T update to my Cleanrom 3.x Focus via Zune. Seems to be working fine. I don't notice any difference really. Full interop unlock, root access and everything seems to still work. First it installs 8860.142, then 8862.144 btw. Dunno why its done in two steps.

are 2.1 roms based off of the htc 2.1 build?

I have been searching for the newest version of android along with a working bluetooth connection to my panasonic phone for months now. 1.5 works very well with my home phone, but the "htc" 2.1 leaked version ( the version that supposedly was exactly the same as the official release but with root access) didnt connect at all.
Then the unofficial froyo build came out. That ROM fixed the bluetooth connection that was broke in 2.1, but the problem with this build is, if i leave my bluetooth connection on and walk in the door, it doesnt reconnect manually to my phone. Because of this, i have to keep manually selecting the handsfree device i want it to connect too if it ever disconnects.
So now I am thinking of trying the "official" 2.1 build released by htc. I'm not sure if my results will be any better than the other roms such as fresh or damanged that are 'based' off of 2.1. I'd like to get off of this 1.5 version of android and to something newer. My concern with trying the official 2.1 rom is that I will loose my root access, correct? I can then re-root my phone afterwards?

There r two roms that r using the newest .6 version of the HTC release of 2.1. They r fresh and one other. But its out there. My rom will be using it as well but will be a day or two. All the others out in the forum are all the .5 version of the HTC version of 2.1. There r only one or two roms that r out there now that r using the leaked version anymore
so would you expect the same results within the bluetooth stack for these roms instead of me installing the official 2.1 rom from htc? or is this something developers tend to change to "enhance" the roms?

Comments around the Sprint Community forum seem to mostly say that Bluetooth is terrible in the official Sprint/HTC 2.1 release, so I don't think running the official RUU will fix your Bluetooth troubles. Here are just a couple threads from there:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/32489
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/32193
Also, yes you will lose root access if you run the official RUU from the Sprint or HTC web sites. You could re-root using this method, but I think the better option would be to just flash the nfinitefx45 Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed ROM, because it is the official straight stock release that maintains root access. DamageControl's latest ROM and Fresh's latest ROM are also based from the official stock release, but they have many more changes and modifications to them so they aren't "true stock" anymore.

Nice work. I would have put up the links myself but in on my phone and its not as easy on here lol
thanks for all the help. i just tried the Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed w/A2SD Update 3 rom and the device paired but did not connect. I assume I should get the same results with any rom based on this correct? So frustrating that HTC screwed this up. I hate being stuck at 1.5.

2.2 Telus leaked version - upgrade and get root back

Running the kernel that was leaked shortly after the phone was released. I cannot upgrade through Kies as it says the version is not recognized. Wondering how I can get upgraded to Gingerbread and get my root back.

I had to do the same thing.
Follow the steps in the URL provided below to Flash your phone back to Stock 2.2, then proceed with the upgrade through the Kies software. (Still took me a couple of tries to update but it eventually worked.)

DVP Mango Update: To Restore or Not To Restore?

Hello,
I am one of the many users who have updated to the Beta version of Mango. Now that the official version of Mango has released, I want to update to that, but I don't know if I should restore to Nodo or not.
Even though I have the Beta version on my phone I actually do get the notification that there is an update ready and all I have to do is click on "Update" for the process to begin, but I don't know if I should do the update considering I have on my phone the beta version.
Should I restore to Nodo and than update or will the update succeed if I update with the Beta version of Mango? Does it matter which way I do it?
Thanks!
just update to the final via zune.
there is no downside.
Hi, I got the same question as Erchino and Zurvv's comment is not very clear.
I have the mango beta version installed and the Zune 4.7 build which was required for it. Previously it was told to revert back to Nodo before installing the official version of mango, but now I get the update option when connected to zune so does that mean i dont need to go back to Nodo?? Also do i need to update my zune (4.7) before updating the phone?
Could someone please write down the steps to go from mango beta to the official version.
Thank you.
Install latest version of zune to be safe.
Plugin phone
Upgrade
MANGO!
Depends. Does your compass work now? Because it doesn't work on the new official mango.

Issues installing official Tango Rom from Verzion

Hi guys i'm trying to update my Trophy to the official Tango release and i'm getting error number
80180048
There was an error while trying to update your device with the latest software.
Please try again.
Cannot update to highest version.
I've tried everything trying to get the update and nothing seems to be working.
Any suggestions.
I've hard reset and soft reset the phone i've reinstalled Zune and i've called Verizon, HTC and Microsoft for a solution and none have been able to help.
Is your phone unlocked?
Using a custom ROM?
On official firmware, with NO modifications to anything?
You can't update with any modifications...
Tapin' the Talk on the HTC Trophy
I'm on Stock offical Verizon Mango update. I've got no modifications at all was never able to unlock the phone.
OS version 7.10.8107.79
Firmware version 2305.13.20402.605
it's the 16 gb version if that helps.

Did you try to unlock before? Maybe your bootloader is messed up?
Sorry in not much help... You could maybe download the NoDo flash and re-upgrade through Zune.

Thanks Peperm1nt nothing so far has worked. But thanks for trying.
How did you install 8107? Did you force install the updates, or Zune update? Or did your phone come with 8107? I had issues getting my test VZW Trophy to update completely over Zune. I say, take this opportunity to install HSPL so you can have custom unlocked roms, and wait for a nice official Tango release.
Or you can try the Microsoft troubleshooter.. which basically says for error 80180048 to download and install the Windows Phone Support Tools and run some stuff. Try it, maybe it will work...
Or, you can follow my guide to get the phone unlocked once and for-all and BREAK free.... although I gotta revise the guide for tethering stuff with the official updates (which you would want to setup BEFORE installing a custom unlocked custom rom).

just bought one, should i continue OTA update?

im planning on installing a custom rom at the very least since the stock rom is giving me some software glitches. i wanted to know if theres any problem with the new update that would prevent me from rooting, or is just best to update to the newest version while its still on stock

if your talking about the AT&T XT2 it can be rooted on any version
problem right now is Huawei's bootloader unlock page is gone and you'll have to try DC unlocker to pay for a bootloader unlock
I was talking about the original XT, I updated since I see most of the road support the latest version
