Custom Kernel... - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the sake of not littering up the dev thread and the ridicule of my fellow members I have a quick question. I installed the PACman rom and j would like to flash a new kernel. I follow direction really well and I know what I need to do to flash a new kernel. But in a custom rom I would like to know its safe to do so. And maybe try and flash some mods as well.
As long and I follow the directions that the devs post I should be fine and not brick my tablet.

Modding help

Okay guys I been an XDA member for a very long time and I'm new the tablet scene and just got an A500 I'm still on HC boot loader. I'm using Taboonay ROM but all the themes and mods I see are directed to this ROM. I do not want to cause any harm to the device so how would I go about moding the ROM I use now

[Q]Defy rom development problems

PROBLUMS HAVE BEEN SOLVED BY KAYANT. THX FOR HIM
Problem comes here.
Some of my friends from our association including me want to develop roms based on AOKP or cm, and those development projects are based on STOCK kernel for it is less likely to crack and are much easier to test.
WHEN I dealt with 4.1.2, I made a mixture of it (mostly framework) with the older 4.1.1-stock kernel rom, and was finally able to boot on stock 2.3 kernel. (see my post on Defy General)
BUT HOW can I transplant/fix those 2NDBOOT ROMS to STOCK KERNEL without MAKING a 'mixture'? The method mentioned above is NOT able to make the latest 4.2 rom to boot.
ps. removing the custom kernel and change default bootmode into 2ndinit IS USELESS.

1. Don't yell
2. Forum rules require waiting more than 24 hours between bumps, so please follow that rule.
I'm sorry, I'm new here. Thank you.

[Q] Which ROM?

Hi guys, i want change ROM on my N4 but I'm very undecided on which rom choose: CyanogenMOD, Paranoid or AOKP.
In your opinion what are the pros of the different rom to decide which one to use?
Read each ROMs respective thread and try them out for yourself, that's the only way you'll find the ROM that's right for you

Agreed, although I use the same setup as yours so I think that's saying something.

And the best kernel? It better custom ROM's kernel o franco kernel?
There's no best, every device handles them differently. The mods are gonna close this thread

If you want some of all then try the PACman ROM! It has features of CM, PA and AOSP

Please post question in the Q&A forum. Also, "best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed. Read/search and take the incredibly simple route and try them for yourself.

ROM to flash

I'm new to android. Just got a S4 l337 few weeks ago. I've my phone rooted, CWM loki'd. I'm now not sure which ROM I should be installing. I want clean, smooth and stable ROM. Pls suggest me one. I'm using T-mobile BTW. Thanks a lot
Touchwiz roms are located in the Android Development section and aosp roms can be found in the original development section. Read upand try out a few (assuming you've already made a backup).
These "which rom is best?" threads are usually shut down quickly. It's best to just form your own opinion on which rom works best for you.
Cheers

No one can answer that for you. You'd have to try out both to see how they fit to your liking.
Carbon or LiquidSmooth all the way!

Boy who knows, could be.
But you should ask this on that dev's ROM section.
Also while you're on that tangent it has been discused dozens (if not HUNDREDS) of times in that forum that the KT kernel DOES NOT WORK ON ALL devices. It may work for some but certainly not all.
Spend some time reading through the ENTIRE thread and you'll find the answers you seek.
Good luck.
This^^^
Almost exactly what I was going to say. Its been stated in Sacs thread and you should read/search more.

He can't post in Sac's thread, it was his first post. Don't you need 10 posts to post in a development thread.
I tried to post in sacs and it redirected me here

He may not be able to post there's buy that doesn't mean he isn't able to search the thread to see what people say about Ktoonz. Anyways have you tired to flash a stock kernel?,
