Can someone recommend me a really good camera app which I can use instead of the stock app? I have used Camera Zoom but that somehow cuts my photos from the corners when the front cam is used.
I am primarily looking for a camera app with a timer...which it seems isn't included in our stock camera.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks in advance to anyone who replies.

I quite like Snap Camera.

If you want full control of camera parameters, I recommend Camera FV-5.
I use Shot Control, because it has full exposure controls:
- Multiple Touch Focus/Meter regions on ICS (on supported devices with Android 4.0)
- Direct access to exposure control and zoom
- One tap access to ISO, White Balance, Scene Modes, Focus Modes, and Flash Mode Settings (based on device abilities)
- Custom mapping for hardware buttons (like volume down for focus, volume up for shutter)
- Pre-focus function
It's built for photographers who know how to manipulate DSLRs.
I don't think it has a timer, though, but the Dev is super responsive so I'm sure if you requested it, he'd add it.
ProCapture Pro has it all.

I am using Shot Control. If you are looking for an app that takes perfect shots with just one click, this may not be for you.
I'm telling you all, try ProCapture. Best camera app available.

Hey,
I yesterday installed the newest version of WolfBreak his CM.
Many things are fixed and the ROM is now incredible smooth!
I also tried some new Camera apps.
Stock Camera App is as always better the the Stock App WolfBreak gives.
Only one app kills them both. It's called Camera 360 Ultimate.
You should really but the app, it's really worth it. You will be amazed by how great the pictures are! Maybe even better then the Stock S.E. 2.1 Camera App!
If this helped you in a search to a GREAT camera app, please press the ''Thanks'' Button!
Any questions about this WolfBreak his ROM? Just send me a PM!

Yes you are right..i have been used it for a long time and i can confirm that is absolutely the best!! Thanks for this tip!!
Cheers

I take Vignette. Can anyone tell why the Camera 360 better?
I've tried this app. Yes the quality is good, but why can't you use the flash?
It says phone does not have flash, so in that sense it doesn't beat vignette

The only advantage of Vignette is the possibility tu use auto flash imo. Camera 360's photos are clear and stable..instead of Vignette's that are out of focus!!
Why is this not in the Applications forum? Anyway thanks for the info, will try it out

Vignette out of focus? Not for me.
Anyway I've just done a comparison and I found that quality of vignette is better...
I had both settings on highest quality and turned off flash for vignette.
I think vignetteis better in quality but it is still slow :-(
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
camera 360 Ultimate is not worth, if it cannot handle exposure as no of the cameras for 2.2+ (android, vignette,...) for our beloved X10 write me if Im wrong cheers
Vignette pictures are better. I don't know who said they are out of focus but thats crazy talk! Do you have the newest release? Camera 360 doesn't stand a chance against vignette.
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
what are you talking about, make photo comparison in full resolution then we can choose the winner
I think that Camera 360 ultimate is superior I used the two but I found the 360 have a better img processing, they have the same specs like 8.1mp 96dpi but 360 seems to be better to me, and the stable shot function helps a lot!
some pics on this

360 is by far the best! 10000% no questions asked tried everything else.
Thanks for your tips mate.

Ok, thats it. Im going to play with 360 one more time. So using stable shot in 360 doesnt destroy the image like it does on stock camera app?

hehehe
its like this, if you shake your hand it dont take the pic, soo YOU should get steady, when you are steady it takes the picture automaticly
=)
Vignette also has a stable mode called "steady shot" but i haven't used camera360 enough to compare, only the free version and it caps the resolution to low.

did they delete this off the market? I cant seem to find it, does anyone have the QR code?
I don't know if its just me. But I find the stock camera app on X10 very hard to use...
It is only nice on a bright sunny day. The shutter lag makes the camera almost unusable under low-light condition or while you're at an indoor space.
Its slow to focus on subject, and even slower for the camera to take a pictureou, leaving you a blurry image because the person has moved...etc.
The camera app that comes with CM roms in my opinion is the best.. photo is instantly taken once you press on shutter. wonder if any devs would be able to port it on to roms based on stock GB?
that is about right for X10....
otherwise, go for DSLR camera.

Sorry to tell you but the stock app is superior than any app on the market. Show me what app from the market allows you to control EV+/-
Dont think thats a useless feature.....its what seperates stock cam from any other app.
Ive given lots of pointers as a photgrapher within these forums how to properly get a great image regardless if your lighting is poor.

If you use normal mode for interior without decent lighting, you will see the screen does not respond promptly as you move the camera around different subjects, that's the lag I'm talking about.
Thanks for suggesting sport mode tho..its a lot more responsive. Didn't bothered to try it before.
But what it does really is compensating exposure for the less lag as I've figured...sport mode is unusable without daylight, the image is way too dark.
Yes I'm on GB at the moment, not saying X10 camera is that bad, but it wouldve been so much better if its as fast as the camera included in CM roms

Guys who dont know EV
its that setting by which you can + or - the lighting in the cam. its on the right hand side in a box with +/- sign.
If you learn the camera correctly, you can take some awesome shots. I still have pictures till this day that people are amazed by the quality and clarity of the photos. The X10 can take the shots you want with patience and practice.
It takes better pics than my ATRIX.

Hey guys after coming from my Nexus which took terrible photos I would like to use the s3 to take some photos of the kids etc. I have bought photo fx previously and am wondering how this compares to the default camera app? What settings do you guys recommend like HDR burst shot etc? Thanks for any advice
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Anyone?
Why don't you try a few settings out and see what works for you? I use hdr mode for landscapes as it takes a while to merge two exposures together and kids don't tend to stay still for too long. Macro works as it should. That's about all I can tell you.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I have tried a lot of different apps for the camera, but stock seems to match or better them all for me. I am no expert but am happy with the results. As stated, hdr is brilliant for still scenes and the colours it produces are exceptional. Don't use for your kids though unless their asleep

stock camera is the best afaik.... just fiddle with the parameters and find your best combo for various scenarios
I like stock camera too. Great images at all.
For instance... I have found that the stock camera does a great job on action photos with the sports setting whereas the Super Camera doesn't do so well, but it excels at still photos compared to the stock one. Photo comparisons coming soon... I would also appreciate if you guys could post photo comparisons too and what settings you used.

Only alternative I really used was Camera Zoom FX. I use stock 99% of the time, works great for me.
I tried several a couple days ago and found Camera FV-5 works really well. The low light shots in that app were hugely better for color accuracy and detail than stock, Super Camera, A Better Camera, Focal, and Snap Camera. Plus Camera FV-5 does make low light shops look like oil paintings, you see the noise and the details both. There is a free version, try it out, I think you'll like it.

Hey folks!
The recently published new camera app from Google has some nice features. Unfortunately, as many other camera apps for the G2, this camera app lacks in picture quality in comparison to the G2 stock camera and its derivatives...

Because,
1. most of them are only updated for stock roms and
2. the don't have those nice new functions like focus control, that the new GoogleCamera offers...
The camera mods change more than just the camera app.
I find the Google camera just as good as far as basic photo quality.

Most of the optimisations in the camera of OEM phones is in the app, but many are in the Kernel. Without both you will never get the same level of quality.
Porting them over is just not possible since its not just about settings, but also drivers and often you will not get the benefit of the drivers without the OEM app.
I wouldn't mind only a mod to select 16:9 for pictures instead of only 4:3 formats.
