Hi,
I have a rooted kindle fire & I have set up ADW Launcher EX as my daily driver. I have a weird problem whereby the wallpaper changes every time I unlock my device. This is really annoying as some of the backgrounds are really bright and it becomes difficult to read and see the screen.
Even if i set a wallpaper on my own, as soon as I unlock the device the wallpaper again changes.
Please advise what to do?
Thanks!!
I just tested this on mine as well. It appears to use whatever image is used in the unlock screen. I would be curious to see if there is a folder of images that the unlocker uses that could be tweaked to include custom images. Perhaps of I have time today or this weekend ill poke around the filesystem and see if this is the case. If you find out anything definitely post it up though I would be interested in fixing this on mine as well.

Does this on an unrooted Fire too.
Yes, same situation with unrooted KF

Of note, WidgetLocker has been updated to work around this if you've rooted. The wallpaper replacement was taking place entirely in the lock screen it seems. Bypass that and no more wallpaper changes.

Will this work on a non-rooted KS?
Never mind. In order to run WidgetLocker, it must be rooted. My bad!!!
Hi all. Head over to this thread for a quick and simple solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1375825
You must be rooted.
Hope it helps.

I tried the suggested mod - first I changed wallpaper to just a simple jpg that I had (I'm using ADW EX launcher). Then, before I even had a chance to use the method, the wallpaper immediately reverted back to one of the ugly Amazon wallpapers. I am rooted (BurritoRoot) and on 6.21
Does this method depend on the nature of the jpeg image because for the life of me, I cannot get a wallpaper to stick.
There's an app called rotating wallpaper that if set up correctly will fix this. Works without root. It will update the wallpaper every minute to keep your wallpaper intact. Its not perfect but works pretty well.

Hey docfreed, I don't know whether there is a difference with what type of image file you use. I'm personally currently running go launcher ex and using its live wall papers with no problem after using the method I suggested. In your case maybe change the permissions and then change the wallpaper? I'm curious how that works out for you. Wish I could be more helpful.

Maybe I'll switch to Go Launcher and give it a try - it maybe something in ADW EX. But let me ask, do you chmod to 550 first or change the wallpaper first? 'cause I cannot get the wallpaper to stay at all - after I set it to my own jpeg, it changes almost instantly - could that be the pernmissions on the wallpaper file?

docfreed, so before I solved the problem, I'd switch wallpaper, whether it was a Live Wallpaper from Go Launcher Ex or a simple jpeg from my albums, the wallpaper would stick and stay, but as soon as I turned off the fire and back on, the stock wallpaper would return (which is the problem this thread is trying to resolve). I never experienced an immediate re-switch like you are.
When I tried out the solution (changing the permissions in the wallpaper folder in /data/data/com.android.settings/files), I first changed to a Live Wallpaper, then changed the permissions, and haven't had a problem since.
In your case, since you get the immediate re-switch, try changing the permissions first THEN change your wallpaper and see if that helps.
Let us know if that works, hope it does!
I understand how frustrating not being able to control wallpapers is.
Installed Android 4.4 via adb sideload onto 2x Nexus 4 and 1x Nexus 7 (2012). Installation was smooth as the rom is stock (un-rooted).
While trying to change the wallpaper (which I used earlier in 4.3), the wallpaper does not center anymore. Tried with multiple wallpapers meant for Nexus 4 and 7 respectively.
I later launched airdroid and saw --> com.android.wallpapercropper running in the background and consuming anywhere between 33-44MB of RAM.
The cropping tool to select the wallpaper no longer appears in Android 4.4. Anyone else facing similar issues?

Has anyone raised a bug with Google on this? If not, any idea how to submit a bug?
Wondering if the wallpapers are the proper res for nex 4. Possibly a small detail that needs to be corrected in the build env.

solved?
ok i figured out how to center my wallpaper image on the lockscreen.
using the oem launcher, on the desktop, swipe from left to right, to the last screen on the left...
hold down finger on screen till choose wallpaper option comes up, pick image from gallery and save as wallpaper....
shut off screen via power button press, press power button to wake device to lock screen...
image should be center on lock screen.. if its not, you didn't do it right, try again.
default screen in stock launcher is the screen all the way to the left... lame but whatever.
now you can set your default launcher to your choice, ie NOVA - APEX - WHATEVER and your lockscreen wallpaper is aligned

The problem happens when we set any photo as wallpaper, after restarting the phone, the picture appears as if it had applying a zoom.
have the same problem
I have the same problem with Nexus 7 2013 on KitKat.
Because the photo wallpaper will automatically zoomed in, now I'm using 3rd party wallpaper apps.
I'm just wondering how the app set wallpaper without being zoomed in. If the logic of setting wallpaper is the same, it should be zoomed.

That works for the centering, but after the power cycle the image (if a huge res is used) is blown up to a section of the picture and not how it was originally set as.
It's crazy that it lets you use a whole image for the wallpaper yet when the device rotates or power cycles it buggers it all up..
I had the same problem on stock 4.4.2. I even f-reset my nexus 4 but uh it didn't worked. in wallpaper cropper, if you choose it as is (positioning), it will be positioned in the hard left screen, so choose the half of the image like this
I am running a rooted Galaxy S4 with Android 4.4.2. Last night I installed QuickPic. I then used "Uninstaller" to remove the stock Gallery app. All was looking good until I rebooted the phone. It changed my custom lock screen wallpaper back to the default.
When I tried to change the lock screen wallpaper back to my custom image I couldn't as when you go to the home screen to edit the lock screen wallpaper, there was NO option to select QuickPic to change the wallpaper (it was just blank). Strangely. I can change the home screen wallpaper with QuickPic!
Does anyone know how I can change the lock screen wallpaper without the stock gallery app? I have searched and searched online but come up empty handed!
Thank you!

Hi,
Sorry mate I misread your post.....
Hello everyone. I seem to have a bit of a problem regarding live wallpapers with the new 7.0 Nougat update. I am currently using the Galaxy Pack app from Play Store as my live wallpaper and I was using it on both my home screen and lock screen. Now here's the problem, after the update I tested out some stuff (including changing the wallpapers) and now I cannot put the live wallpaper back on the lock screen. On the home screen it works fine. When I try to select a static picture as my wallpaper, after I select it, it asks me (Do you want this on your home screen, lock screen, or both?), but when I select the Galaxy Pack wallpaper it just sends me on the app's menu where I click set wallpaper and only the home screen one applies. I have tried different launchers including Nova launcher (The one I currently use) and Google Now Launcher, but nothing lets me put the Galaxy Pack LW as a lock screen wallpaper. Please help.
Also on a side note, does anyone know how to set the settings, quick settings tab, etc. on dark(black) theme? I hate all the white of it. Is it possible to do this at all? (without rooting)
Just downloaded planety of live wallpapers. None of them is working on the lockscreen, nothing really can be done here. But changing theme to any other colour is simple, just open the Samsung themes app and set the dark one.

All right. Thank you for responding. I hope they fix the live wallpaper problem soon. And many thanks for the dark theme. Cheers.
Hi, I've noticed an odd issue where the theme resets to default after a while. I feel like the whole launcher and system UI restarts?
It's a really annoying issue. Not unlocked and not rooted.

No it happens regardless of the theme selected. Even on default theme + different wallpaper, it happens. And resets itself to default wallpaper.
So this doesn't happen to anyone else then?

It hasn't happened to me. I use default theme with different wallpaper both on lock screen and home screen. It's fine.
I found the issue myself. I had a custom font installed. This caused the theme to be reverted. Once I came back to the default font, I can change the other settings as I please.
Thanks to everyone for the help.
Same happened to me. I try to use third party themes using different theme editor (ex. Mi Rape, MIUI Theme Editor, My Themer, etc. ..). It works actually and third party theme is applied. However, after a while, it reverts back to default theme.
Any advise how can this be fixed?

THIS IS THE SOLUTION
1. Open the theme app and select the default theme.
2. Look at the bottom of the screen and UNCHECK Lock screen, Favorite tray, and Icons options leaving only the General option.
3. Then Select Apply
4. Go back and select the theme you actually want.
5. CHECK the Lock screen, Favorite tray, and Icon options
6. Select Apply
7. Theme is now applied and will not revert to the old theme.
NOTE: This condition of reverting to the default theme developed after changing font on Redmi note 8
Hi, thank you.
But is there a solution that I can change the General option, because I want the costum Notification Bar?
Hi everyone.
I'm still not solved this issue that whole launcher and system UI restarts and resets itself to default lock screen.
I only changed to custom font in the Option->Theme->font at the Resion/India after load the font using the app called "MIUI custom font Installer"
Is there any other solution besides rooting?
Unlocked and not rooted. MIUI Global version 11.0.9

I was experiencing this issue a while ago. But I might've kinda fixed it because it's been 6 hours and my theme isn't resetting.
What I did was applying the stock font (roboto), then apply any theme that I download from theme store and check all the options (lockscreen, icons, system, etc), and reboot. After that I change my font back to what I was using before.
I'm in miui 12.0.3.0 and I'm using Mi 9T.

I think it's because of your unsupported font. This happens even with unsupported emoji set(bitmap font).
