Lost my Nexus... DInc Backup - Droid Incredible General

Lost my nexus last night in a cab. My replacement device won't come in until Wednesday. So I'm gonna have to run my backup device the DInc for a few days. I have not turned this thing on or messed with it in 1.5 years...
I know it has the latest ASOP android for its time. I think 2.3.7 running thrrxxsomething. I gotta get this up to ICS/Jelly. Is it worth it? Anything somewhat stable and working... All I need is BT/GPS/phone to fully work.
Any insights/recommendations greatly appreciated.

My latest cm10 if you want jellybean and the most working. Android 4.2 is flaky with BT to begin with.

Tiny would know better than me...
edit... LOL... I thought this was the Nexus 4 forum....
time to get rid of the Dinc shortcut from the browser...

AOKP reboot when screen off

I finally got to install the latest AOKP after realizing it needed the ICS bootloader. But whenever I turn off the screen it instantly reboots. It does this every single time. It would do this back on one of the old versions of AOKP that I was able to install on the GB bootloader.
Anyone else experience anything like this? Or any ideas how to fix it? I'm assuming it's some kind of kernel issue, but I don't see many alternatives for the A500 like you do for other devices.
Thanks in advance.

Well there other roms based off acers ics that for me is running good.
For aokp your going to have to wait till cm9 gets more updates, so that aokp can run smoother. Maybe try aokp agian after the cm guys for our device gets nights running.

Yeah, I was running (I think it's called..) Flexreaper. That would run fine. But I run AOKP on my GNex so I'd like to keep them both the same, lol.
I might have to switch until this issue gets ironed out.

[Q] Should I root my Nexus 7?

Hi there. I've had my Nexus 7 for 1 1/2 month and I want to get more out of it. I'm currently running stock 4.2.1. I'm a little nervous because this is my first tablet, although I'm running cm10 on my phone. Is rooting worth it or should I wait a while?:highfive:
haven't you already waited for a while?
I had mine for Christmas just make sure u have a suitable recovery eg clockwork mod and use the right tools there is tons like nexus 7 toolkit I used it is simple even for first timers plus Google make it solo easy. Do it then get stick mount and expand our memory.
PS many people say it affects performance.
Bull sh**

Yeah I rooted mine right away, but honestly I should of waited, I've tried a lot custom ROMs out there and all of them had give me bad performance/battery life maybe it could be my nexus 7 its self or 4.2.1 but I feel that i should of just waited wait till the nexus 7 development community gets better, not to take away from any developer here!
Via Galaxy Nexus [LTE]
i find no probs with using the stock rom plus CM10 seems to stay in a bootloop so did try that but reflashed back to stock ROM

I think it's about time you unlock the bootloader (beware: a data wipe is then imminent), and then root it and give it a taste of some lovely CM10.1!
I recently got an N7 myself and I thought the stock rom was snappy. Then I unlocked the bootloader, rooted it, flashed latest CWM and flashed CM10.1 and it's amazing!
Got mine after boxing day before it was fully charged boot loader was unlocked and rooted. Am sticking to stock at the mo with bricked kernel

NEVER NEVER NEVER root your device.
Thanks!
I used the toolkit last night and it worked very good. Flashed cm10.1 and all but I didn't like it. Now i'm back on stock 4.2.1. Maybe i'll install a custom rom later on. Thanks for you're answer and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!:highfive:
Like the OP, I've already got a rooted phone (Nexus S 4G running CM10.1). But I've come to doubt the benefit of rooting/flashing. My wife's stock Nexus S seems to run better than mine. That said, she barely uses the thing and has installed maybe 5 apps in 18 months of ownership, so it's not apples to apples.
I got my Nexus 7 last week and I haven't encountered a compelling reason to root it yet. Since it's a Nexus, the bloatware argument is moot. I do wish I could install some Polytonic Greek fonts, but that's hardly a reason to void the warranty. So for me, it's staying stock (for now...)
I've had my nexus for about 3 months now and I don't think I'll be rooting it. I just want my tablet to work and not have to screw with flashing, updating, etc. I'll stick to that stuff on my sgs3. I play games on my nexus and don't want to have to worry about losing data. I know there are backup apps but it's still a hassle and I've had trouble before.

I rooted mine the same day I got it, you can always lock it back up if you need to but I have no regrets rooting ad away is reason enough to root in my book
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Rooting and unlocking your device will not do any harm. I have rooted all of my devices and through the years never had a single problem. And if you are afraid you should know that any time you can relock the boot loader, unroot your phone and return back to stock so give it a shot

Screen unresponsive

Basically, my N7's screen is frequently unresponsive. I was trying to start something in my launcher, and tried pressing it at least 6 times, but nothing happened. Then I tried swiping between launcher pages, and that worked just fine the first time.
This just started happening on an almost constant basis within the last 30-60 minutes, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or heard of anyone else experiencing it. I'm running the latest Minimus with Jassy's latest kernel (I just flashed them this morning, but it was probably 4-5 hours ago at least), with the DPI set to 290 (I just raised it from 280 to see if that would help anything). I also cleared the cache and dalvik.
Any ideas?
My girlfriends tablet has done that too, then it just randomly goes back to just fine

Why don't you try stock and see if you have an issue. This would allow you to rule things out at least.

me as well. And this is my second tablet after returning the first one for dead pixels
My tablet is stock rooted and I have just experienced this. I had to reboot in order to fix it. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Same here this has happened to me on stock, but a reboot fixed it.
I've only experienced this using Chrome. it got so bad that I'm using the molasses-in-the-winter-going-up-hill Firefox browser just to be able to web surf.
Same here stock, and clean ROM.. Haven't noticed anything on kanged cm nor pa yet. Can't get otg to work worth a crap either I bought chainfires app to help with otg worked with stock based ROMs but not cm based ROMs .. I'm pissed I bought the 16 GB model..

It happened to me as well (complete stock). Mostly (if not all) instances were with Chrome. I don't remember it happening again since I switched to Chrome beta. (Fingers crossed).
I just took mine back to Best Buy and exchanged it for the 32gb model. The guy at the store asked if anything was wrong with the tablet and I told him that it would freeze up and I would have to reboot in order to fix it. He told me that all tablets and phones freeze like that and that I should reboot the device at least once a day to prevent the freezing of the screen. I thanked him and told him that I would do that. These salesmen must think that everyone is as dumb as they are.
I hope my new tablet doesn't have the same problem, because if it does I might give up on the new nexus 7.

Does anyone else not have the official 4.4 update?

Since the release of 4.4 for the Nexus 7 I've been constantly hitting the update button on my beloved tablet and I have yet to see the coveted update. Is there anyone else that shares this same fate? Am I being impatient?
I know I could root and I've thought about it, actually but I really wanted to see how long I could refrain from crack-flashing every single thing I own. But I might not have a choice since I just read that the Moto X for Verizon is now getting the update.
The fact that any device from Verizon is getting an update before a Nexus is making me nervous that maybe something is amiss with my tablet...
Nothing for me yet.. just updated my MotoX an hour ago though. A Nexus 7 update today would be like having the most awesome Christmas ever...

.. but no update here for my Nexus 7 Wifi...
No update for me as well (both N7 adn N4)
No update - UK WIFI Nexus 7 16GB
No update for my n7/13 or n4 (both stock unlocked) but I had sideloaded 4.4 to my rooted n7/12 and received the ota KRT16S last night. I flashed stock recovery and had super su (1.72B) set to protect root, all went well and I didn't loose root. Flashed back to twrp with flashify.
sent from my next gen N7
No update neither here - Nexus 7 WIFI IT 16 GB
If you like to stream flash videos (or stream NBA games, etc), watch out. Kit Kat breaks it because apparently they've updated the web engine which doesn't support flash at all.
No update for me either. Nexus 7 2012 32gb

Seriously, if you really can't wait, grab the OTA off Google's servers. There's no need to complain when you can have it right now.
Is it possible to do that even if my tablet isn't rooted?
If so please can you let me know how?
Thanks in advance

Simpsons Tapped Out

I'm running stock rooted and since day one with this phone, the Simpsons game has been choppy and crashes often. I've sent quiet a bit of reports once it crashes, but I was wondering if anyone else had this problem?

Mine is choppy (low frame rate) occasionally - it was more noticeable during the recent halloween event. Seems ok now since the thanksgiving update.
It does crash quite frequently though - maybe one out of every three or four sessions.
I play daily and it crashes at least once every time I play it. Used to have sgs4 I337 running gpe Roms and it wouldn't work at all. Warrantied a bad headset speaker and here I am. The new sgs4 AT&T sent me had a locked boot loader and no root android 4.3. I didn't want a galaxy phone so sold it for 400 bought the nexus 5.
Level 37 now. Same as zulugod stated was laggy with Halloween update, better now.
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
In 37, it does have fps lag and crashes like six times before I can assign everyone to tasks

Ok glad it's not just me. I'm hoping in the next play store update, They'll fix it or something.
