I am merely interested in removing a few pixels from the bottom of the start menu / indicator bar at the top of the screen. See, I use Retro Clock w/ a sweet background and a battery bar indicator [wkTask, excellent mgr app] at the top and it would be fiine to see just the sweet minimal gui..
If there already exists a way to remove the top bar, perhaps one of you should post the name of an app ;]
Otherwise, if devs or hackers know a way to shave pixels off an app [by messing with the gui api calls, etc] I would be into hacking together an autorun python script.. Or transparent bar would be good too.. man.. too much to customize. ;]
Cheers,

lots of options exist in this area including the removing of the bar and or reducing its size and or making it transparent. Please either google or use search of this site at the top right of this page. You will get a lot of hits. Keywords "Top bar" or "Tob task bar" or "start bar" etc.
Thanks,
CG
Minimal for the win
FYI PMC TodayShrink will remove the pesky bottom bar.. but the hardware soft keys can still be assigned and pressed.

Dangit!! Don't do that. If this guy doesn't use search we will be answering his questions from here to enternity or have new threads like this one started covering old info. It clogs up the forum. The idea of give them the answer and but tell them to search next time actually hurts this forum. I know it feels good to be helpful but do so by directing them with search topics.
Like right now at the time of this post just 7 topics down in this forum is a thread about top bar. And 2 pages back is another and it keeps going and going. before long the forum will be crowded again with repeat of of information that keeps development threads slowed.
Thanks

welcome to using a forum, what are you, new? people are going to have questions, you don't want to answer them and help, then don't do it, but don't come in here and complain because someone has a question, even if it has been asked/answered multiple times.

Dude shut up. Newb's are people like you. You've been here for a few months and going to try and tell someone who has been here for a few years how to work the site. Sit back, stick the pacifier in your mouth and keep to yourself. And by all means don't try and tell someone who has been here that long anything about site rules. What you have to say may be correct for the sites you normally go to but read the forum rules here and you will find them to be drastically different.

Watch out guys, it's the big bad forum monkey
the end of the world as we know it
clog up the forums huh? define a clog....does it mean wasting your time crying on the forum or getting on with your life after you have used the forum for whatever you want...whenever you are ready let me know ill mail you some tissues for your meaningless tears...i gues you are the first person to cry about someone not searching first ....being a so called noob .... by the way what is a noob is it someone who inexperianced ...who maybe would not know what exactly to search for...maybe if you just not respond the NOOB would then search...anyways quit wasting your time cuz this is the last time im wasting mine
Maybe he searched and didn't find what he is looking for or couldnt' get the wording right
It's happened to me.
well i have the smae question, ive searched and used vjtoggle but i dont like it too much.
i want to hide the top bar from the today screen but not in other apps. like the fullscreen function in Wisbar advance desktop (which im not using anymore so i need an alternative). im already using that dcino (sp?) file in my startup folder to hide the bottom bar from today screen

although this kid is wrong for starting a new thread when he could have searched to find the answer, it doesnt mean that you have to respond like this....the forum is here to help people gain answers to their questions, the quickest way to do that is to ANSWER THE QUESTION, quit being an a$$

The quickest way is not always the best way. Answer the question only goes to encourage the behavior. So, it is a quick solution with a condratictive affect. Sounds like a lot of the newb's are a little light in their louffers today.

Dude, talk about clogging up the forum and making a thread longer than a couple of replies. If you would have kept quiet and shed tears in your pillow instead, this thread would have been over a page ago.

My vote goes with you curious george ...it is too bad that some people could not simplify things what they want and failed to understand the existence of Search utility
Very nice work folks! Looking great so far...time to kick the tires and drive it around a bit
Dont post this here just because this is the area of XDA you reside in . The forums at the top of XDA like the off topic section or the about xda would be better suited.
Looking great form.

Hey look! I gots my own xda stalker! rofl
couple things, I don't want it at the top level exactly because I do reside here and so posted here for conversation related to the redesign, with other HD2 owners. capiche?
Oh and secondly mr wannabe mod, if you don't like it here, move it. Or delete it, I don't care either way. About the same way I feel about you or what you have to say at this point.
I prefer fixed width of the forum i.e 960px or 850px!

No offence guys (not my business I know), but how old are you? 5? You supposed to be working in making things better for all, not fight for nothing at all...
It is a nice template, maybe should try more black than brown (just my opinion), format looks perfect...
Good luck with the wonderful work
Waste of a thread
I prefer the old format.
good design
I like this new skin for XDA.. hmm n only one suggestion.. if you put a mod to change the colour of font and background of your choice when you log in..
First of all the skin is really nice but with my HD2 it is worse to navigate than before.
But the thread should be closed. Its the wrong subforum to post about it...

Hey,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. 4 weeks old and yesterday I discovered a problem that was not obvious. Under a black background in a dark place, I could see little dark black dots scattered over the screen. I once had the same problem with my iPad but in a different colour (white) and they gave me a new iPad right away So I just wanted to warn you guys to check for this problem, as one of my friends had this problem too!
Hope this helps!

Well I know OP was trying to be nice. But in the far distant future, they are going to integrate "forum etiquette" in the elementary internet classes.
Ridiculous that this is another new thread regarding this issue!!!!

yes, because people do not search before posting anything.. They find something and think "Oh I need to let everyone on XDA know about this" Go and create a thread without ever thinking "I wonder if anyone else has had the problem I have, maybe I should search before I create a new thread"
Like yesterday, a guy created a thread on jellybean source, 10 minutes later another person created another thread on Jelly Bean Source, not even seeing that just 3 threads down from his was the original JB thread... There is no excuse for that.
So not only are people not searching, but they arent even taking the time to look through the threads on the first page.. it's laziness, it clutters the forum for more useful posts.. And there is really no excuse for it.
When I experience a problem I know the first thing I do is search to see if anyone else is having that same problem. 90% of the time a search yields me what I need, if not THEN I create a thread, I dont create a thread without searching to see If there is an existing thread about the issue I'm having
OP your intentions are noble, but for the furture.. please search before you post. If you had you would of found the mega thread discussing this issue and would have learned more about the issue instead of just creating a thread..
is the fix for this using screen filter app?
thx

You know what fix you should be thinking about? Your signature. It's huge and ugly.
There is no 100% perfect production process anymore. Expect to have flaws

Hi,
Got two questions on my mind:
1) As i have deleted all signaltones except one is there some easy way to change the listings in settings to only show that signal, atm there is like a hundred that does nothing?
2) Is there anyway to delete all the countries except one, i mean at the first start up after a factory reset you are given a choice of about hundred countries to configure your phone after. As i only use swedish im not in very big need of hebrew or spanish or russian or any other country i only need the swedish part.
I hope my questions is understandable and someone can eiter give me an answer or show me in the direction of where to find an answer.
Cheers!

Flame from asking a ??? in a dev thread (especially when what you want to know is the FIRST result on a Google of XDA)
Sigh....either decompile a ton of apks and remove all the locales you don't use or sync with the repos and delete all the locales you don't use and compile. That's the best I can offer w\o holding your hand and doing it for you. (Goolge & XDA your friends)
You should have asked this in Kayant's thread in the general section.... -- Questions like this is what that thread is for.
//Not flaming ya, but being a bit rude to get the point across. (The General and Q&A forums are here for a reason)
I would believe my questions is in a kind of grey zone of the dev section as it would involve changing of files which in a matter would meen developing for own cause but as you think im completly wrong i have now asked a mod to either delete or move this thread so that no other needs to feel insulted just for having to read a question like this in the dev thread
And im in no need of people holding my hand or feeding me info with a spoon, sometimes even the best of peoples need to be pointed in the right direction, not in anyway trying to say im best in any way
Cheers

Couldnt u have said what my problem was right away.... Starts thinking about how to grow the har back on my ass
I think skeevy said it already. You can see how to sync and build the rom in a threat over at General. The rest is up to you to find.
There is nothing you ask that you couldn't have found. If you run in too problems and can't find a solution, that's something else.
I think the OP's question has been answered as well as it can be. Thread closed.
