[Q] Lockscreen weather NO DATA - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Def+ is running Quarx's CM10 20130307 version. Since the early versions of Quarx's CM10, I could never get the lockscreen weather to show weather, it always said "No Data", even after I refresh it by tapping the "Tap to refresh" button on the lock screen. I had data ON all the time.
The only time that the lockscreen weather worked was when I had wifi connection.
In Settings\Lock screen\Weather, I had "User custom location" unchecked. It did not work.
If I checked "User custom location" & input my location city, it will come back with "Cannot retrieve location".
Has anyone ever got this working?
I wonder if my particular problem is related to my other problem. In Google Maps, I could only get my "current location" when I had data on. Without data on, Google Maps could not show my location.
Appreciate if some can help. Thanks.

Turn on Google Location in google maps and that should do it.
I've had the same problem sice I first got my Leo. I did a search and found another thread on the subject (can't remember where!). Unfortunately it fizzled out before a proper solution was found. But from what I remember of it, the post above is on the right track.
The weather effect on the Today screen is tied in to the 'My Location' function on the Weather screen, which in turn gets your current location from Google Maps.
If the 'My Location' feature on Google Maps doesn't work, your weather will not update on the Weather screen and therefore the weather effect will not work on the Today screen.
Also, and this is particularly frustating, even when the 'My Location' feature on Google Maps does work (as mine does), often the feature still does not work! This seems to be dependent on your actual location in the country...
I also remember seeing some older posts from the States saying that the 'My Location' service in Google Maps is 'switched off' for many US providers. But that may be out of date, by now...
Maybe the above will give you some useful keywords to run through search engines...
Good luck!
I've NEVER had the "my location" feature working, either on my HD with a Leo ROM, or on my HD2. None of the suggestions on the forums have worked for me either, so I've given up on it.
You can remove "my location" from your weather tab with the cab by Dutty at the bottom of this post...

Once you've done that, manually add your own city/cities and then go to the home tab, click the clock, and make sure you have your city selected. Then, you should get get the weather for your selected city.
That's the way I've got it anyway, and it works for me. I'd like "my location" working, but I don't travel so much that I can't keep track of where I am myself! lol
Good luck!
Spot on, JohnC...!
I'd always missed out the step of choosing one of the manually selected locations in the WorldClock app before. That was why it wouldn't work for me.
I'm still hoping for a solution to the 'My Location' problem though, so I'm leaving that switched on for the moment...
Btw... If you find you cannot select your own town/city because it is not available in the list, you should do a search on here for 'WeatherCityEditor', which is a nice little tool that will allow you to add more towns...
fixed it now, basically it was the location thingy, i had disabled it ages ago in the hope of saving battery or something like that lol, its back on now
I'd followed your step but still cannot back to weather wallpaper.
Help me please

So you have the little weather icon under your clock, but you don't have the full screen weather effect? If that's the case you just need to tap menu on the home tab, press home wallpaper and select weather wallpaper.
I personally had to disable My Location because it defaulted on my whole state as opposed to me city so it wasn't entirely accurate. But even though I've manually set my location, it still sometimes defaults to 'My Location' on the home tab and I need to tap the clock and reselect my city. Any fix for this?

Weather doesn't auto-update

I have a problem with weather auto-update function on Miri 3.2 (1.66 ROM), I have only one city in weather tab set to update automatically every 1 hour, but it doesn't do it at all!
If I go to weather tab the weather update fine, but otherwise it doesn't do it.
I don't use "My location" function, I also enabled/disabled HTC location services but it doesn't change anything.
Any ideas on this, anyone experienced this ? Thanks
many of us have this mate, no fix that i know of yet. what you can do is add your city manually and select it under the home screen. why do you want it to update automatically anyway?

Removing a weather loaction?

On the home screen in sense, it says im somewhere im not.
Its never my acctual location (Its over 100miles away....)
When I go to the weather tab > remove location
The location isn't listed!
Even though it clearly shows my location, and this other location on the app..
What the hell do i do?
thanks everyone
im curious to this as well it seems i have an "invisible my location, location" haha. I always have to actually input my city in the time and then i get the actual weather for my city.

weather widget issue

Hi everyone.
I've got this problem after upgrading to 2.2. The thing is that, when set to "current location" my weather widget doesn't give me the name of my town but just says "current location". The weather conditions are exactly the same as ones that I would get if I added my town manually, it just can't show the name.
I tried almost everything I could, removing and re-adding clock and weather widgets, turning off and on gps and/or wireless, clearing cache for widgets, soft resetting the phone, but nothing worked. When I remove the clock from the main screen and re-add it again it knows somehow where my "home" is, but it won't work for the weaher.
I tried some other widgets (beautiful widgets, animated weather...) and they could recognize my true location with no problems. Maps and Latitude apps both locate me very precisely. iGo does that too.
Everything worked well before the upgrade so I am thinking about reverting it to v2.1 somehow but I am afraid that I could do something wrong, plus I'm not sure if that'd solve anything.
I'd be very grateful to anyone who tries to help

[SOLVED] (CM11) Lockscreen weather widget not minimizing

I just updated from CM10.2 to the latest CM11 nightly with a dirty flash (wiped cache and dalvik and flashed gapps)
I lock my phone with a PIN code. My settings are to have the widgets minimized with the PIN entry area immediately accessible when I wake the screen. In this mode, the clock is still visible and a smaller-sized version of the weather is also visible on top of the PIN entry area.
But on CM11, I see this instead:
http://i.imgur.com/bI4pMlQ.png
As you can see, the weather widget failed to minimize properly and is being partially obstructed by the PIN entry area. I checked the settings and the "show when minimized" is checked - as it was on CM10.2.
Anyone got a fix for this?
I should also note that if I UNCHECK the "show when minimized" box, the weather widget also doesn't disappear when the PIN entry area is empty (it would have disappeared on CM10.2). Instead it behaves exactly like described above.
Just realized this is an ongoing issue with CM11 that isn't resolved yet.
In the meantime, I downloaded the DashClock app which is more or less identical to CM's own LockClock app, and the weather widget minimizes properly with this one - now I restored the visual appearance to what I had in CM10.2. Not the most convenient solution, but pretty simple and elegant (no complex file modification needed, haha).
Case closed, hope the CM team resolves this soon...
I have a separate question regarding the new yahoo weather powered lock screen widget that rolled out with CM11.
I have CM11 installed on my Nexus 5 and just updated to the 2/10/14 stable which came with this lock screen widget from Yahoo. I don't see the widget as an installed app either in apps or widgets and I cannot find a settings for this widget.
I want to manually set the zip code and change the readout from Celsius to Fahrenheit but cant figure out how.
Any ideas?
