Hey guys,
I bought a Nexus 4 today and I have a bad feeling that it's a used device.
I'm looking for a way to know whether it has been activated in the past.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Did you buy it from the Google Play Store? Or was it a Craigslist/eBay find?

Neither, I bought it from a local unofficial retail store (in Israel).
They did promise that the Nexus 4 is brand new, bu it only came with a regular non-wireless recharger (so much for promises).
Other than that, nothing but a strong gut feeling that this device was used for a while and was then cleaned and formatted.

Try to use an recovery program for usb drives. Scan your mass storage and check for deleted files?

they only come with a wired charger(usb cable and wall charger).
Take it out into the sun. If it has about ten thousand micro scratches on the screen, then its been used for a week or two. If not, they could have used a screen protector I guess. . . . .

Nexus 4 doesn't appear as a Mass Storage device, so no recovery tool can detect it.
Try verifying your IMIE number with this site http://sndeep.info/en. It gives you the age of the device based on manufacturing date. Although it might not tell you if the device was used on not, it can still give you peace of mind if its a newly manufactured device

That was an excellent idea - it says it's 2 month old.
What do you say...? Given that it was the last in their inventory and the shipping from Korea to Israel...?

Was there tape on still sealed on the box? And were you expecting it to come with the wireless charger?? That's a separately purchased accessory. Its supposed to come with the wired charger.

You could still dump the partition on the phone and look at the dump on a pc. There is a tutorial for doing that here on xda meant for galaxy nexus, but it worked for N4 when I tried.

Well, I would say that if its just two months old, then it doesn't matter even if its slightly used given:
1) You dont see any dents, scratches e.t.c
2) No water damges on screen(if the colors are not distorted on some parts of screen)
3) Microphone, Speakers sound ok.
Atleast you are confident that you have 10(Out of 12) months of Google warranty on this phone, if we calculate it from date of manufacturing.

I ordered one. B&H Photo-Video: ASUSBKTF101
Me Too. Was searching for them yesterday and nobody seemed to have them in the US. Hopefully we'll actually get these!
That's interesting, out of curiosity, what do you plan on using it for?

I got one from Amazon.com (through TigerDirect).
Got it in about 5 days after ordering.
It was about 2 weeks ago so I don't know about stock right now
Thanks. Ordered my this morning. Already shipped. Should be getting it on Thursday.
Bought one. Sweet. This would come in handy, especially for USB storage and stuff. Shipping was expensive so total came to about $16.
Still not bad.
Status shipped. $14.x delivered, sweet as they’re ~$30 everywhere else.
I prefer this setup, expands to everyday USB without the bulk. Really had no intentions to pick one up, but returned my unopened $99 dock last night.
Hmmm… 128GB-SDXC, or next year 128GB-MicroSDXC.
I bought one a few weeks ago, including S&H and sales tax $43
uwaaaa
Guess I shoul have waited.
Awesome I ve been needing this good catch !!
I have been using the dongle for past 2 weeks with a Seagate Goflex 500 GB drive, at 100% charge I calculate that you can view 5 hrs of video from the USB HD doing nothing else.
Really have no way of measuring how big of a hit the drive sucks down batt power on the tablet. Wish the portfolio case designers had a pouch you can slip a 2.5 drive into so it would be easier to handle.

Do you need to be rooted to do this?
It won't read NTFS formated drives, is that correct?

Though I'll skip it for now as 20Eur is a bit insane for a USB dongle.
Im thinking of selling my galaxy tablet 10.1. Its White with WiFi and 3G plus screen protector and black leather snugg case. Selling because I dont really use it and hardly have used it since purchase so its in immaculate new conditoin!. I also have a 3yr on top of manufacturer warranty. It is in top condition! The item is in the UK and the device is not locked or branded (except samsung lol) All the box, manual and un-used earphones with it.
Any offers?

Hi everyone,
As in my title you can understand, i have a nexus 4 with broken motherboard.
My phone is purchased from U.S., but i'm living in Turkey. So i can't send my phone back to U.S. to change it to a new one.
I have another option, to buy oem motherboard and replace it self in my home.
So i found the motherboard BUT, there are T-MOBILE NEXUS 4. But my nexus from Google.
My question is, will it work, if i buy this motherboard and replace it with my broken motherboard?
There is no difference between the nexus 4 from tmobile or Google.

Call Google in these situations.
HI GUYS,
My z1 had camera issues and the service center guys said they will give me a new device but these guys did not take the box, I am wondering that these guys are just bluffing, is there a way for me to find if the device I am getting is new?
I have got my Z1 replaced the same way. They didn't take the box, the charger or the headphones. They gave me a brand new one. It was covered in those plastic film foils, it came in. 534 firmware and, the most important thing, it had A NEW IMEI. So, stay cool. You will get a brand new device for sure.

What price did you pay for your Z1 ? was it online or from a shop. The camera issue you've had has happened to others as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience, hopefully the same procedures are followed back in India.
But do you or anyone actually know how to find if the phone is new or refurbished
Is it possible by the IMEI nukber or ahynsoftware?
I don't think so. Just check the phone's build quality and any traces of it being used before.
Although Sony's policy allows the replacement with a refurbished phone, the law in my country doesn't allow that. It clearly states that the repairs must be done using new materials or - if it comes to a replacement - the replacement device must be a brand new one.

It's a good deal, the online sources tend to beat the shops but then i'm a bit leery to buy something this expensive on line. Don't mind paying a little more premium to avoid such issues. Somebody else had ordered earlier from homeshop18 and had the same issue. Took about a month to get a replacement as the vendor was not in the same city.

IMEI is unique for every phone.
Chance is good you will get a another one as they do not service Z1 in India, it has to be shipped over to Sweden.
Whether new or refurbished is the question ? does it show any wear or tear, you will have to examine closely. Coming in a sealed box does not mean too much.
Hey guys!
I can't find the charger for my LG G2 D802! I must have misplaced it but I can't find it anywhere.
Since I won't compromise with the quality of the accessories I use for my phone, I want something that's either the original charger or as good as the original charger. In Denmark we don't have the option to buy cable + wall charger from LG directly.
If you post an EBay link - the seller must be located in Europe. Please help me, I'm generous with the thanks button =)
I use my iPad 2 usb charger and it works great. It's a 2A charger so I can charge the phone fast as well.

Maybe just maybe, he meant that you could buy an iPad charger? For sure there are Apple stores in Denmark....
Anyway almost any of the big brands tablet chargers could deliver?
Don't you have something like, try for a week from an eshop? Not good bring it back?

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that opportunity. We actually don't have specific apple stores in Denmark. Besides - if I'm going to purchase something "original" - I might aswell find an original charger Thanks for your great input bro!

Thanks for the link. The ampere and voltage should match the original 100%. Unfortunately, though, it seems like it's sold out :/
I also need the cable. The cable has to be high quality cos flashing stuff/10
Lol i got a quote of 72 USD for an original charger... Denmark.....
I use these guy's products. High quality and very reliable. Good delivery time as well. Only took 5 days to ship from UK to New Zealand.

I bought this cable http://www.dx.com/p/micro-usb-male-to-male-data-flat-cable-blue-150cm-159895#.U47NFzdI3Ns
because its long and seems good and cheap.
Anyway downside of dx.com (not th eEU part) is that you have to wait sometimes a month for the product to get to you.... (luckily after 20 days you can ask them to re-imburse you)
If looking for a charger on this page, or cable or anything... ALWAYS see the one with the most reviews and best rating.
