Hey guys, I bought a slimport yesterday and today I used it and no dice I just got sound no video and my first shipped from Google play N4 running franco with CM 10 the latest, I tried my wife's N4 and works perfect. Is it my ROM, kernel or what. Any ideas

Could be a rom issue. I've had few problems with slim port on custom roms. Try this, after phone is connected to TV, turn phone screen off and back on. Should come on TV then but screen may stay black on phone.

Seems to be the case for me with stock CM kernel as well. Any ideas how to have the screen work on both the external display and the phone's screen?
Try another rom. CM has problems with Slimport. On AOKP it works like a charm. I have output on both screens (but use screen standby to dim the phone )
I've had this same problem. Didn't have time to figure it out. Now that the above user says cm has problems with it, let's narrow down the issue.
I am using cm ROM + trinity currently and in which state slim port does not work.
Can you test if cm ROM + Franco kernel work? This would help narrow down the issue greatly.

Hi guys I need your help.
Cyanogenmod Rom has issues with the slimport adapters. Only CM Roms have the issue of HDMI out not working. I would like you guys to head over to JIRA and vote up the issue so that it can be fixed ASAP. Please head here: https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-559
Thank you.
I can confirm the SlimPort issues on CM. I'm not sure about other CM-based ROMs. Someone has submitted the required commits to Slim Bean, so it should be working soon. However I'm just going to install the latest build of the Official AOKP.
I hope that the CM Mako maintainers will look into the commit.
Edit: New CM builds after M3 do the trick.

Had the same issue-It was the HDMI cable after all
Hi. I received my slimport adapter today and when I tried it nothing happened. It came out to be that was my HDMI cable that wasn´t working. So before you do anything crazy or complicated (such as returning the Nexus 4 or the Slimport to the store) be sure to try with other cables.
Greetings.
Working fine here for cm 10.1 rc5 and 155 franco

I tried CM 10.1 with LTE Unofficial and with a sound button push the screens came on.
I was reading that CM 10.1 was not working with slim port I just tried it with the CM 10.1 with LTE and I pushed the volume button once and the screens came on with the TV and the Phone I would not mess with trying to turn the phones screen off to see if it would do any thing. I plan on watching a flick on Netflix later. I have one way cables I think I got from Radio Shack that have swivel heads on them not sure if it is only a cable thing with anyone.

Hi, I've been very, very happily using Galnet's MIUI and basically using MIUI for an age but I've recently had a housemate move in with a big TV and was thinking about going back to a rom that features RCA TV out. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a good rom that features TV out via 3.5 RCA cable? Or if it's even worth it? It seems Froyo was the way to go?
Thanks.
I might be wrong but I tought that all CM7-based ROMs lacked this feature.
I assumed that all Samsung-based ROMs had it.
Yeah that's what I thought too. But thought some Gingerbread ROMs had problems with TV out? Can anyone vouch for the quality. I'm new to the TV hookup thing? Thanks for your response, mate.

It would be nice if it could be implemented in CM7
However it isn't a show stopper for me, as I have an N900 which has TV out which I now use solely as a media player in the car (as it already has built in screens) I tried it on the TV once, but to be honest it wasn't brilliant
Not sure what games would be like from the Galaxy on a big TV
Since I can't post to the pershoot's dev thread, here's a my own JB thread.
I am currently using :
BOOTLOADER: recovery.tar.md5 (from:droidbasement)
ROM: cm-10-20121018-EXPERIMENTAL-p4.zip (from: droidbasement)
GAPPS: gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip (from: goo.im/gapps)
I have a p4 wifi but could only get my hands on the p4 build do to net traffic. It seems to work just fine on a wifi only device. The only difference seems to be the additional phone app and an triangle icon in the system tray. Don't laugh, but it took me a bit of digging to figure out what that triangle icon was!
I am also using the circle battery mod, which for those who don't know replaces the power meter.
I have been using the experimental builds for quite some time now. Other than the known issues and the occasional lockup I am having no issues.
In the past the wifi would go to sleep and never wake up, but builds after 09-26-2012 no longer have this problem. I can now set my wifi to sleep with the tablet, and have no problems what so ever. If you have this problem then try an app named "Advanced Wifi Lock". I tried many others and this is the only one that seemed to fix the problem.
All to report for now.
Why don't you just get 10 useful posts.... It's not that difficult

I'm interested in the galaxy 10.1 JB ROM. I could post ten things about that.
If your interested in 10 other things then more power to you!
Please debate the point. I'm now up to 4!
Dude where did you found the circle mod? That mod rly nice

Hi my friend...
that triangle icon is used to be the phone signal meter in 3G(p7500) version,so it shows that you don't have a signal
Just installed the latest CM10 (18 Oct), coming from LQ8 and very happy so far (my G.Tab is the 3G version).
My only real problem is HDMI out, which is pretty important to me. I have done a search but I found only references to old problems with it and nothing about the problem which I am having: it works (no audio though) but the resolution is 640x400!
Anyone know if that's the "normal" behaviour for this build? (i.e. if this is a known problem)
If it is I hope audio and resolution get fixed ASAP since I have no intention of going back to stock!!

Ive got one, had it for xmas from my daughter, pretty happy with it, wifi is fine not sure about the range as my router is about a metre away from tv so cant comment on that, running xbmc rc3 on it and dvds and livetv works well, struggles abit with true HD as dont think its hardware accelerated. Only gripe ive got at the moment is altho it came with flash player installed it doesnt work ive tried updating it from the adobe archive page but the settings page is just greyed out, maybe someone on here can fix it which is why i just joined

I've got one, I think it lacks good video drivers.
Bad synk audio video, stuttering video.
It has a diffrenet wif/BT chip compared to the 802 but same SOC (I think) so the custom roms from the 802 work but you get no wifi & BT.
The BT exists but does not work with my mouse, it pairs but nothing more, I think the original ROM lacks BT mouse support.
I would say a 802 with working custom ROMs is a much better deal for the moment, but this could change anytime soon or never.
I've had one for a while and didn't use it that much until I flashed finless bob's rom for the imito mx1/2, which has the same basic internals. It is much smoother and faster than before, but this could be partly attributed to the newer kernel this rom possesses.

Not to sound like an idiot because I'm just asking you to repeat what you just posted, but you can confirm that finless' ROM will flash onto the UG007 with no modifications needed?

Are there any AOSP kernels that have support for USB OTG yet for the VS980?
I keep going back and forth between modded stock and flex roms because I really can't do without OTG. I use it for my meenova and also for plugging in a midi keyboard and controlling Caustic with it.
I've tried a couple KitKat roms that I would totally love to use as my daily, but just can't do without my OTG..

Well I specficially wanted to know about using MIDI controllers and the Meenova card reader with AOSP. I can have it work fine all day every day on modded stock or flex. It's AOSP i'm wondering about.

I am running Carbon Rom nightlies and my Meenova works fine....
Hey guys,
I've been using "Timur's USB ROM" on my Nexus 7 which has been mounted on our kitchen wall and has been serving us greatly as a Spotify and DLNA player. The only downside is not having Spotify Connect functionality and I attribute that to the Android version (4.2.2). Spotify Connect works just fine if I install a lollipop rom, but then I don't know how to get OTG + USB so I can keep it charged while hooked up to a USB DAC using a Y cable.
Any ROMs or kernels out there that fit the bill?
I understand the already dreadful performance will suffer even more, but really, the only thing the tablet is doing is running Spotify and BubbleUPNP and nothing else.
I have Pure Nexus ROM+Parrot Mod installed on N7 (see under Nexus 7 Android Development). Nexus 7 is supplying the correct voltage to USB slot so OTG adaptor is working as expected. I have this cheap one from eBay and it does the job. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/331817051572?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

Thanks for that. Excited to give it a go. If it wasn't 1am on a Monday morning, I'd do it right now!
I've downloaded all the parts (rom, kernel, gapps) though, so hopefully this will be it.
Appreciate the help.
Bummer. Didn't work.
The tablet will charge (although no visual indication that it is charging) but no way to get USB audio output.
I'm using one of these.
Any other kernel out there to give the old 2012 USB + power?
Try DC kernel. My set up is working OK. You also need to mount USB stick manually. I use Stick Mount app

Thanks for the suggestion.
I actually tried that kernel too. Didn't work. I'm not trying to hook up a usb stick. Just need the tablet to be charged and also my USB DAC to work at the same time.
Have you tested it with a USB DAC for audio out? So your N7 is charging and also outputting audio via USB?
Try this CM10.1 ROM with modified kernel, claims to support DAC device. http://mehrvarz.github.io/nexus-7-usbrom/
In my case I am only able to mount USB stick via this otg adapter. Charging via adapter is not working

That's the one I already have and USB + power work as advertised. However, it's on Jelly Bean, so Spotify Connect doesn't work. I need the same functionality on a Lollipop+ rom.
So far looks like it doesn't exist. I can't seem to convince my wife to give up her 2013 and swap it with the 2012 either.
