Had my One for 2 days now and really like it, nice upgrade from my Galaxy nexus. One of the features I really like is Blinkfeed, great idea but the content is absolutely shocking!
Can anyone (preferably in the UK) confirm that there are only 12 sites to pull information from? I've also noticed that if for instance you check the smartphone category then you get feeds from Android Central etc but is there no way of selecting these individually?
Thanks
If Blinkfeed (crap name) is a proper RSS reader then there ought to be an OPML file somewhere or a Blinkfeed equivalent.
That's the file to edit to add whatever RSS sources you want, though whether Blinkfeed will render the content correctly is another matter.
I thought were more then 12 (in feeds/categories) on http://start.htc.com

There are more than 12, just swipe to the left to categories. Also, if you sent you could select us instead of UK in the blinkfeed settings to get more sources.

Yeah i know about the categories part but for instance if I click on the gaming category it doesn't expend into a list or tell me where the content will come from but hey, this is new so I'm sure they will update but only being able to select 12 individual sites is a bit lame

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean. Each individual piece of info is displayed on a separate tile if that's what you're talking about?
So if you look at the screen and there are 3 tiles on display can they all be from different sources and fir diffetenat catergories,Luke ones displays sports, one for news and one for social

Yes, see attached screenshots, some screens have 4 tiles that can show different topics.

Hi there!
I just noticed that we got some new widgets.
We got note (which I was waiting for), quick record (one button record that works good and after recording gives you a notification) and today in history (wow, it's quite good and I loved it also gives information about event). And they are better than tip calculator and dice.
May the widgets be with you
Finally!
Notes!!!
And... The new Market version got a widget too?
But what does it do?
Yep, just got my Wildfire and was thinking of a note widget. Thanks for the heads up !

Some Users say that it shows sponsored paid apps.

Hello, i downloaded the "tip calculator" and when i went to see the permissions of the app it says that it have access to the following on the phone:
Your personal information.
Services that cost you money.(directly call phone numbers, send SMS messages)
Your messages.
Your location.
Network communication.
Your accounts.
Storage.
Phone calls.
Hardware controls. (record audio)
System tools.
Should i worry? xD
Nope, You can trust everything that comes from HTC/Google
Hi guys,
First, I'm a developer who spends a lot of time with his nose into terminal windows and editors... so please forgive me if I'm used to the "boring" stuff. I was wondering if you could give me some suggestions what widgets should I use to fill few of the tablet screens. So far, the main apps I use on the tablet are the Terminal (go figure) to manage my Linux boxes and my 3 Google Apps accounts (drive, mail, etc.)
I looked on the internet at those "popular widgets" postings and they all show crappy stuff like Google Play, Beautiful Widgets, Facebook etc. With no disrespect, they are useless to me. I'm looking more into "geek" factor, like some nice tablet memory/kernel stats and other cool widgets I could make use of. I know is hard what I ask but I'm looking for input from tech people who use the tablet to manage mostly Linux related stuff, not just the Google Play library.
It sucks to have all those screens empty, thank you for your help.
Floren
You could actually design a fancy-nothing widget by yourself that could show random stuff, like stats, load, cool pictures, links to websites, etc, periodically. Resizable, and repicable. That would be nice.

I don't write Android apps. I did wrote from scratch the XDA search you use it every day and helped the guys to optimize their servers, so you can post your content easier. Thanks for the nice insults.
Yea wth?
Anyway. I suggest Android Pro Widgets. Its free but I recommend buying it for themeing ablilities. They are scrollable Widgets for Facebook, twitter, calendar, favorites, etc. I have a page dedicated to these alone. I like my main homescreen very minimalistic.
Outside of that I use some sort of weather widget. I don't listen to music often and my status bar has toggles. Not sure what else you would need.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Could try minimalistic text and create your own text widgets showing stats of the tablet.
Does anyone got any good music widgets?
Battery Monitor Widget Pro and System Tuner Pro have some decent geeky widgets. Not great though. I'd like to find some more too.

Don't worry about responses like that one. They are a dime a dozen and provide nothing to these forums/communities. Best to ignore nay sayers...
Some suggestions for widgets would definitely be a weather widget, gmail/email widget, play music widget. Just to name a few a lot of it is personal preference from what I see...

I'm sorry if you understood my comment as an insult. I was actually giving a nice idea. I have developed some apps for diferrent purposes, and I found your post interesting - some widgets to beautify your screens. I could simply not mention any idea, but you know, I like brainstorming.

I made a widget once for a friend that showed either his stats or his teams stats from World Community Grid, but it only seems to work on 2.1 and I'm not a Dev....no idea how to fix it. LOL

I strongly recommend Elixir Widgets 2. Highly customizable, lots of options (more than any other), sips battery and CPU.
Here is my main 'reporting' page.
Also I reduced to 3 home screens... psychological reduction in empty space.

Since this is going to be my first phone with on screen buttons which I consider a stupid idea I am wondering what can we go with this back bar embeded at the bottom of the screen, Can we make it smaller?, will it be removed in games? Can we add extra buttons or ever widgets to it? Maybe ever make it pages so when you swipe over it it will reveal a rss feed or something. Any ideas on what can be done to make it helpful rather than a hinderance

Once custom roms start rolling out you will be able to change the DPI of the bar.
AOKP i expect will support this feature as they do in current JB Roms

Edit: Beware, this is the devil's post
Lets post up some updates we have found with the Sense 4.2.2 update.
Outside of the primarily known ones like the quick settings here is one great one I noticed.
App: Gallery
Change: Highlights
They revamped the song/style selection for the video highlights as well as added about 5 more. Very very happy with this update as I use this quite often
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I'd like to know if you can link your ps3 controller via a usb-otg kabel after the update, as this was not supported on the 4.1.2 stock rom.

hey, thanks for reporting this, this is very nice! i've a question, in the gallery app, can you try to open an image go to Edit>Effects then press the 3 dot menu button, and see if there's an option to "Edit effect" i wonder if HTC added this after removing it from an older firmware, thanks!

The remote control app should be improved (seen in a german forum)
You can now set your channels how you want it.

No, you are able to set (for example) bbc on program 3 if its 3 on your receiver/tv.
On 4.1.2 you are not able to customize the order of the programs
They also fixed the select content issue so stuff that you don't want in your zoe is actually not included anymore

There is already a 4.2.2 update thread. Please discuss that there. Having multiple threads makes forum very hard to follow.
I am using the standard Samsung email app installed on the device and wondered if there was anyway to change the theme from the grey as I actually find it not very clear and easy to look at.
Thanks

You didn't provide any screen shots or a detailed description, making it difficult to give any specific advice.
Most stock apps do not allow you to change theme colours. You could search the forum to see if any Themers have modified the stock email app. Or install a third party mail app.
.
Well its the standard app so I assumed most people will have seen or used it. I just don't like the way it's grey and not white or dark.

You're making an unfounded assumption. Samsung sells tens of million S5 phones and for a variety of reasons apps like this are not the same for everyone.
.
Well my mistake then, I just thought the default Samsung email application would be the same for everyone.
Anyhow, having spent some time with it I don't think it is possible so I have looked at 3rd party apps and found one that seems to fit the bill for me.
It's called blue mail.
Just setting it up now but looks a beautiful app visually, just hope it delivers in the other areas.
