My nexus 10 is freaking out all of the sudden. The keyboard is disappearing after I type a few keystrokes. I thought maybe swift key was the issue. Tried two other keyboards and it is still happening. In addition, my browser is force closing so much. It started last week after watching lots of video on it. Not sure if it's related. I thought the specific browser may have been the issue so I tried surfing in dolphin, Firefox, chrome, etc. It is crashing every few minutes. It is very frustrating. It sometimes seems related to the keyboard issue and sometimes seems totally independent. I literally had to post this from my phone because the tablet force closed the browser on me 5 times while trying to post. Sorry if this post is redundant but I couldn't find anything in my searches. Any suggestions would be welcome or help in pointing to where I might read about troubleshooting in a different thread.
Thanks!
Update: this doesn't explain the keyboard thing but I have noticed that when the app crashes, the wifi bars go from blue to grey. Is there a fix for that?
2nd update: it's quickly getting worse. Every app is crashing every few moments. Even gallery! Ahhhhh! Someone please help me!
I have been experiencing the same issue. Just recently started about a week ago. I have stock nexus 10. My browser of choice is Dolphin. I'm thinking the issue is with the keyboard not the browser.

I have the same problem with my nexus 10 same issue with wifi also, when the keyboard drops out so does wifi. I also still have issues with Youtube refreshing half way through a video. Love this tablet but if it keeps it up iI'm selling it.
Same here. I'm having the exact same problems. All of them. The keyboard, apps crashing, Wifi bars going grey. I'm even get problems with YouTube, Play Store, and Feedly saying, "Tap to reconnect", and I have to press it like 3 or 4 times then it works. I think I know what the problem is though. If anyone is using Flash player. That might be causing the problem, because when I was using Adblock. I was getting horrible internet connecting then I disable it and then worked fine.

Hey, so I've just encountered a pretty strange problem with my browser when running on wifi. When using either Dolphin HD or the stock browser, it just hangs and never really loads anything, but all other apps that require internet (facebook, tweetdeck, etc.) still work just fine. When using 3G both browsers also work just fine. This problem only started occurring today, don't know what I could have done to have cause something like this to happen but I'm pretty stumped on how to fix it. Any ideas?
(Running on Azure 1.0.1)
kill all tasks and try again
Nah I power cycled the phone a few times and no dice. The issue is resolved now actually, although I have no idea how or why it came up, nor do I know how it got fixed. Some strange fluke I guess.
Ok hell, I have no idea what's going on but I'm having more problems with this again, and now it's happening to the browser while using either wifi or 3g. Browser stops working, yet other internet requiring apps still work. I feel like this might have something to do with chrome-to-phone/foxtophone cause it tends to happen after I've used it. Anyone else experiencing this?
Same happens to me, its really random. I'm running Azure 1.0 any help would be much appreciated.
I didn't want to make a thread for this specific issue but after searching I can't seem to find a definitive answer!
Does anyone else suffer from constant buffering with HD playback on the YouTube app and is this something that can be fixed??
Firstly I have a 60Mb/3Mb connection with a good strong wireless signal. We have numerous wireless devices around the house and none of them seem to be affected by this problem. I can have my Nexus 7 within 1 metre of my router and i'm lucky if I can get through 10 seconds of HD playback without it buffering, my laptop however will happily stream 1080p whilst i'm sitting in the garden!?
The Transformers movie on the play store has no problems at all, it plays smoothly no matter where I am in the house. It can even handle me skipping through sections and resumes playback almost instantly. I'm convinced the problem is with YouTube but don't really know how/if i can fix it. I have tried clearing the cache, reverting to a previous version and completely removing it and reinstalling yet the problems persist. SD playback is vastly better but it still has it's problems from time to time.
My device is completely stock running 4.1.2 (upgraded earlier today OTA). Apart from this issue I love the Nexus and don't really have any desires to root at present. I'm 31 with 2 children and my own business so I don't have the time to put into learning it all and keeping up with everything, 10 years ago things would have been very different!
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this was one of the main reasons I bought the tablet.
I have the same problem. It's very embarrassing when you try to show off the tablet to friends :-\

I also get this on most of my devices, seems like a YouTube problem.
Same here

I also have experienced this problem. It only happens with the YouTube on the N7. It doesn't happen on my iPhone or my laptop. I wish there was some way to fix it.

i have the same problem it really sucks
Look at post #267. A combination of SmoothROM and Bricked Kernel, both of which I've used in the past and are great, resolved the issue for one user.

It's somewhat comforting knowing i'm not suffering with this alone. . . This can't be right though surely!?
Whilst trying to fix the issue last night I did manage to stream a full HD 10 min video with no buffering, something that hasn't happened for a while. Strangely it worked right after using the speedtest.net app to test my connection. I don't even know if it's possible for one app to affect the other but the same video had buffering issues minutes before I ran the test. It's probably just a well timed coincidence but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I guess now we have to hope that Google get their act together and fix the site/app. They certainly receive enough in ad revenue, which always play flawlessly

I'm on stock 4.1.2 after a full reinstall, I can't recreate the issue. Out of curiosity can you go to settings > apps > all > youtube and clear the cache, does it help at all?

It's no different after clearing the cache unfortunately, that's one of the first things I tried. I'm guessing the next step is a full reinstall too. I'll have to look into backup options without root, which i'm guessing is pretty limited?
First world problems eh?
Same Problem. I noticed the only way to get the vids to move is to toggle between hd and regarding when it freezes up. Very annoying to say the least. I just use the browser now. No probs.

I thought that I have problem with my router. Guess not. BTW I found "solution" which works for me. As soon as video starts buffering, turn off the screen, then on, unlock and press play on video and enjoy your video without buffering.

Anyone figure out a fix for this?

no solution, but the same problem. Bugs the hell out of me. My workaround has been to switch to SD which of course is a bit crap. When I get within reach of a wifi connection I'll try clearing cache/uninstalling updates etc. Not keen on rooting and installing new Rom/kernel as a solution to be honest.

Running 4.2 now makes no difference I'm afraid. Cleared cache and data, left updates. Still buffers uncontrollably. That said, the tip earlier tint he thread of turning off the screen, turning it back on and unlocking, then playing the video worked very well. It played HD video for 3 minutes straight with no buffering. Then a small/short buffer (acceptable) and now buffering again for the remained of the video @ 7 minutes. does this lend any information to lead to a root cause? Willing to work for a solution .
I wanted to update my situation seeing as I started this thread.
I recently moved home and changed internet provider and all of my issues with YouTube have gone away. I have gone from a 60Mb down / 3Mb up fibre optic service with Virgin Media (where I had nothing but issues). Now on a 4Mb down / .3Mb up ADSL service with Sky.
HD YouTube videos play flawlessly from everywhere I want to use my Nexus! It's not just YouTube though as pretty much everything that works from the internet is running a lot faster on my device now. I wish I could offer more of a solution but I can only say that I don't think it's a problem with the Nexus 7/YouTube app.
Yep. I found solution in some other thread. You gotta change modem or update firmware on it. I called my ISP requesting modem firmware update, they came and put new modem instead. Even better. Wish I knew about this solution before I bought new router. Oh well...at least now I have dual band so its not total waste of money.
same
So was the problem your modem, router or actual ISP? While my VDSL2 modem is capable of being a router, I have it setup in pass-through (bridge) mode to my DLINK DIR-655 router which handles everything. What exactly in the firmware is causing the slow-down just for youtube on the N7 (and not other computers)?
I wanted to find out if any other N10 owner had this issue. I get frequent force closes,or "clock has stopped" randomly, mostly when playing games. That's the only time I've noticed. I've tried force closing the clock app, clearing cache and data. It seems to work for a bit, but comes back eventually. Kinda at a loss here...figured maybe it was a bug in the latest firmware.
Anyone else, or is it just me?

I had the same issue, it was quite annoying, I even experienced the error while using multi-user mode. I have not had clock FC since I rooted the device. My guess is the wipe/factory reset I did during the procedure resolved the anomaly.
Yep, I've experienced this issue since day 1. Happens sporadically...

Happens here as well. 4.2 seems to be buggy as hell. It seems my tablet reboots overnight almost all the time because in the morning my recently used apps list is always empty
I'm getting this quite frequently now. It's very annoying and keeps coming back.

I am not sure if this is a NP issue, Android TV issue or a Plex issue but when i use the voice search in the plex app it takes a long time to find anything. It was working for a while then just stopped.
Now I have my plex library on a NAS drive so i assume it will take a little longer ot index a search but not as long as it takes. Has anyone experienced this? The voice search was one of the reasons I switched from AppleTV to NP.
Me too, it's very inconsistent. Search query is recognised, but returns no results. Sometimes after 3 tries I get a response, but at least half the time I give up and type the search. This always works without problems.
I have the same thing across apps voice search doesn't stop listening till it times out and fails. Factory reset and then stop auto updates in play store seems to have fixed it for me. Seems to have been a recent search app update.
Works much, much better on NVIDIA Shield that I have changed to. I think it's the hardware that sucks.

I turned off auto update for a Netflix issue but not sure how I will know to update to a newer app if they fix these bugs.

Noticed quite recently that the phone keeps freezing on apps only way is to close the app down clear from recents and try again. Or lock the phone and unlock it. Also having problems now when typing something out the keyboard accepts my typing but the text does not show up on screen. So I could be writing something out and half way through the text stops showing up. Starting to get frustrated with this phone now. Especially with news of another new phone coming out and this 1 does seem to actually have so many faults.
Constant crashes now on certain apps. Mainly Chrome.
I know alot of people find Chrome buggy but on mostly every other phone I have never had crashes like this.
Chrome seems to have issues with 120 refresh rate from what I've read. Happens on mine and I've read about it happening in the s20. It's the only thing they slows down at all on my phone

I also see this in Chrome & Chrome Beta!

This happens to me all the time with Chrome. Incredibly annoying. In fact, it happened as I was typing this!!
I've had these issues but they disappeared after I took the Android 11 DP for a test drive. After I rolled back I haven't seen any of these glitches at all.
I get this sometimes and as silly as it sounds I'm actually touching the phones screen further up on the display.
Cleaning the phones screen helps as well.
Think QHD can cause this too.
Haven't had this issue persistently as you've mentioned though.

I never had a single slow down with chrome on my OP7 pro. All I know is I've read in many places 120hz send to be the problem with chrome. One way or the other, it's a chrome problem, not a phone problem

It's Chrome. I thought my 8 Pro was broken (I dropped it, then was having problems like you describe). Went back to my Nova5T, and Chrome hangs up in exactly the same way. Nothing to do with the OnePlus at all.
