Can't open the command prompt - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As usually I right click in the folder that contains Nexus 4 driver, adb to open a command prompt, but a popup appears (the label is Explorer.exe), it says "This file does not have a program associated with it to perform this action. Please install a program, or if one is installed already, creat an association with it in the Defaul program control panel."
Anyone has a clue to solve this problem?
Thanks a lot.

Solved. In case someone has the same problem. Use the attached file to fix.
Concern about the source of the file? Dont worry. It's from the Admin of www.sevenforums.com. Thanks to him or her again.

Delete start menu items

Is there a way to automaticly delete these?
I tried to make a batch file, but PPC2003 doesn't recognise it and can't execute it
this is what i mean:
Code:
cd\
cd \windows\start menu\
del activesync.ink
del calender.ink
del contacts.ink
del inbox.ink
Does anyone know how to script something like this?
I think you mean .Lnk instead of .ink
You want this done after hardreset from Extended rom ?
I know there are "config.txt" commands to copy files, but don't know about Deleting.
could be .lnk
but yes, i want to do this after a hard reset
M4io,
These can easily be deleted on the desktop when connected via ActiveSync.
Simply elpore to the start items in the windows folder and delete them.
Resco File Explorer will let you do it on the PPC.
Cheers
FredS
i know that but i want it to be done automaticly because i have to configure multiple pda's and don't want to them al by hand, and also if a user forgets to charge the pda, i want them to be deleted

thanks
but that is the "new" menu, the one on the lower left, where you can quickly make a new document, excel sheet or whatever
yes i know & this key is specifically those values but encryptred in a way, try deleting anything under newmenu key & you'll find they are all gone
well i did it, but now my "New Menu" is empty (as i suspected) and my "Start Menu" is still unchanged
But i do think there must be some registery setting somewhere because if you go to "System" > "Menus" there you can pick the programs you want to see in the "Start Menu". I think these values must be saved somewhere in the registry, but is in not in the "NewMenu"
oh **** you are talking about the start menu, oh then am sorry but i'll find out for you

You could use this freeware app that I've attached. It runs in a command prompt on your PC and allows you to run DOS commands against the activesync connected pocket pc. E.g. typing RCMD dir \Windows\*.* lists all the files in the Windows folder on your device. You can also create .bat files on your PC and run them.
I got similar problem with start menu items.
I cannot remove or add startmenu items even if i select/unselect them in Start>Setting>Menu.
(the related .LNK files already in start menu folders)
The selected item's icon won't showup in startmenu until i do soft-reset.
Usually the icon wouild show up instantly, but now it isn't like that.
anyone can help?

Thx 4 helping me, but i'm looking for something that can be run in de extended_rom after a hard reset. Imagine you have hondereds of XDA II's, which are not on the same place, if it's possible to get something like this into the Extended_Rom it would save alot of work and hassile because we (the company i work for) doesn't want an icon linking to the internet explorer for instance. If you have to do it manualy people won't delete it, so it has to be something in which they can't interfere, the extended_rom auto install after a battery drain or a hard reset
I hope someone can help me out
Wel bat2exe doesn't work either somebody else found something?
Having done some digging, it looks like you would only be able to run .BAT files if the DOS device drivers and a command interpreter were installed on the device.
I have experimented with this and have been able to write a tiny program which executes a file called test.bat. If need be I could experiment further.

MDA VARIO HELP

HELLO
I JUST GOT A NEW MDA VARIO, THE ROM VERSION IS 1.3.2.2.ENU
IS THERE ANY NEWER VERSION ROM I CAN INSTALL
ANY ANY PLACE I CAN UNLOCK THE PHONE?
Use the search button or go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=33796&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0. You will find an unlock tool there.
hello
hi have u tried that method, i have but i dont kno where am goin wrong
i have installed the cab file on my fone but when i run the bat file, n press u for unlock the window just shut downs and nothing happens? can u help me out here
Follow the instructions on the thread, it works perfectly. If you have a problem, post on that thread with details of exactly what you did and what went wrong - cutting and pasting would be good.
Run the batch file from a command line and that'll stop the window disappearing - click start, then "run", then type "CMD" (no quotes). Navigate to the right directory where you extracted the unlock stuff to, and run the batch file.
hi
gonna tell u what i did
installed the the cab file on my phone
connect my phone to pc
double clicked on the bat file to run it, ms dos windows appears with three options , then i chose the option U for unlock, n it just closes the window...
am not very aware of using the ms dos windows help me out on this how do i ""Navigate to the right directory where you extracted the unlock stuff to, and run the batch file"".
i did as u told me to to run type cmd but dont know how to navigate to find the file
by typing c: and pressing enter you go to the root of your C drive. By typing d: you go to d drive etc. For getting into a directory type cd\directory name and press enter. You can navigate to the directory you unzipped the file in like that. Then type the file name (including the .bat) and press enter. The file should run then.
hey
THANKS MAN ur a genious

Disable certificate check in WM5

Hello all,
I'm having a problem with my qtek 9000 with latest rom from myqtek.com, some programs can't be opened because they say: "The file "patched-game-file-here" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. You might need to reinstall or restore this file"
I've tried some files to disable certificate security but no luck, the problem is still there :|
Anyone can help getting over this problem?
Try this.
http://buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=109&func=fileinfo&id=194
This is from the wiki:
Code:
Allow the unsigned app from installing for everything.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Policies\Policies] Change value 0000101a from 0 to 1
Do a soft reset.

Hello all, tks for your help
vijay555 - i tested your code but no luck, problem still there.
victoradjei - i've tested that app, pretty simple to use an finally it works ! (YES TK U) , for now it's a solution let's hope someone can make a .cab in order to disable this security check for good.
Hi,
I have an htc P3600.
I've downloaded the application for buzddev.
I've also changed the registery but I do not know what to do with that application. There is the signcode.exe, what should I do with that file downloaded?
Could someone shed some light on how to use the app from Buzzdev? Is it supposed to be run on the device?
I ran the EXE file on my PC and a DOS window popped up and closed itself and nothing happened.
Thank you in advance!
Extract the SignCode files into a folder. Then you have to run it from the command line or the "Run" option from the "Start" button and tell it what EXE file to fix. Since this program actually changes the executable file by changing the embedded security certificate, you might want to make a backup copy of the EXE file first.
Here's the syntax:
<path to SignCode files>sign.bat <path to program and filename>
If you extracted the signcode files to your "C:\Program Files\SignCode" folder and are trying to fix your "C:\Program Files\SomeGame\SomeGame.exe" file, here's EXACTLY (quotes and all) what you would type in the "Start" "Run" box or a command prompt:
Code:
"C:\Program Files\SignCode\Sign.bat" "C:\Program Files\SomeGame\SomeGame.exe"
You should notice the timestamp of the file change indicating that the embedded security certificate was changed. Copy the updated file and overwrite the original EXE file on your mobile device and then try running it. This will still pop up an "Untrusted Source" type of security message on your mobile device but you will have the option to install it anyway and it will work fine after that.
This should work too, M$ made a tool for provisioning devices.

victoradjei methode worked perfectly for me on WM6
Does anyone have the info that was in this link?
The forum is their but looks like the link is dead.

Noob Question about removing progam files.

I just got my first PDA Wednesday, HTC 8525. But this question would be more directed to anyone using Windows Mobile 5. I installed a program thats called "slide to unlock" cool little program, but i tried to erase it but everything erased but one file called Ilock.
Well when i try to erase it it give a message saying:
"Cannot delete ilock: there has been a sharing file violation
The source or destination may be in use"
Thanks in advance to whoever helps.
by the way i did a quick search and didn't find anything. So please no, "use the search button" comments.
Found the problem, it was linked to the program iphone...thank anyways
i understand how it is to be new to this so here you go-
you must always completely terminate a program for it to be completely uninstalled. this can be done in a variety of ways: first is to terminate the program through its own exit command within the program. second, if the program does not have an exit command you can manually terminate the program using 3rd party apps like memmaid and sktools. third would be to check the \windows\startup directory if the program is started upon device startup or soft reset. if the program contains a shortcut or an exe file in the windows startup folder, then manually delete this then do a soft reset.
after all these you should be able to already completely uninstall the app. in the case of iLock, it is said in the program's readme text that tapping on the iLock.exe file once runs the program then tapping it a second time closes the iLock app and shows a windows saying so.

SOLUTION: Touch Flo appliation not signed with a trusted certificate

This was user error. But since I saw other people have had the same problem I decided to admit it and maybe this post will help them out.
Problem: Anytime I changed the mapping of the application buttons in Touch Flo I'd then get an error when I tried to use the remapped button. The error stated:
"The file XXXX cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file."
Where XXXX is whatever I had set the button to be.
The problem turns out to be that in Cube Config I had used the drop down box "Shortcut Path" and just picked the application I wanted. This, for me at least, does NOT work. I had to use the "Browse..." choice and then navigate to the actual executable file.
For example:
I COULD NOT choose "Audio Manager" from the "Shortcut Path" drop down box.
However I COULD choose "Browse..." Then navigate to:
"\Storage Card\Program Files\HTC Audio Manager"
And finally select: "AudioManager.exe"
It is NOT significant that the example I'm posting was on the Storage Card. I had the same problem with programs installed in internal memory.
Hopefully this will help others out.

I found the solution Special THANKS to JZ SmartMort
Following simple steps:
1) Download following file: http://www.internet-tools.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/sda_unlock.zip
From archive we need only SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe
It allows Registry to be edited from PC.
Run it with working Activesync connection
2) Download Mobile Registry Editor: http://www.zipsoft.ru/catalog/mobile_registry_editor-v1_11.html
Also run with working Activesync connection
3) and modify the following keys to the values listed.
("HKLM","Security\Policies\Policies","0000101b","1 ")
("HKLM","Security\Policies\Policies","00001005","4 0")
("HKLM","Security\Policies\Policies","0000101a","1 ")
("HKLM","Security\Policies\Policies","00001001","1 ")
("HKLM","Security\Policies\Policies","00001017","2 4")
It perfectly worked with HD2, but I guess it should work with all WM devices.
FYI, here are some other useful software packages that relax the security.
