As the title says., i can't find a good deal for HTC One 64Gb version sim free and factory unlocked. I'm not interested in 32Gb version.
Any help?
Not here yet.
Me too. Coming from s2 16gb + 32 gb sd card. Figure minimum I need for next phone is 64gb. Glad photos are small files but zoes take lots of storage I hear

Now I don't get it. HTC should make this storage options available right away and to every regions. I mean it is just storage, how hard can it be to get enough product for every region?

You forget that they're having major manufacturing problems: they simply can't make enough handsets, so the ones they do make have to be in the most commonly-ordered configuration.
and the cheapest. They're hardly going to focus on the more expensive of the two. It would just put people off.

From what I've read, Zoe's are 4 megs in size. I can't see that being an issue regardless of how many you have.

What, twenty full-resolution 4MP photos and three and a half seconds of 1080p video take up just 4MB in total? I don't think so.
And if you decide to make one of those Event videos, they take up half a gigabyte each, according to TechRadar.
Even the likes of Samsung aren't able to release larger gb versions till months after the initial launch of a product.
Thats why microsd slot is so great..Htc just has to goof up somewhere.

I have to disagree, I have a HTC evo 4g lte with 16gb internal and a 16gb external sdcard and I don't even have half of either of them filled up. I have 9gb free on the internal and a little bit over 8 on the external. And I have enough music on it to play music constantly over a month and not listen to the same song twice. I also have a ton of pictures and videos. And over 50 apps installed. So 32 gb is more than enough for me. And no I'm not kidding myself.

Punny mp3? Man your talking to someone who lives and breathes the music industry. Quality of sound on headphones is limited so why would you want best quality on your phone. I have over 500 gb of high quality music on my desktop. That doesn't mean I want it all on my phone. I've done professional recording, I'm in and out of recording studios and I can tell you that there is a limit to what the best headphones can reproduce. Now if you are listening to your music via a high quality sound system all the time or most of the time then I understand why you would want wav files but other than that high quality encoded mp3 is the best you can get from headphones. And if you think in full of bs, you are completely wrong. I have a bachelor's in music education, a masters in music percmformance, a certified srt (sound recording thechnician) and am currently working on my PhD in musicology. So I know a thing or two about music quality.

My point was that even the best earphones don't produce the sound quality that wav files offer so why bother having such large files. The hardware limits the software so its all that space used up is for nothing.

The earphones I use do - I can tell a difference.
Above 256-320 kbps no human can tell the difference in sounds on earphones with pmp or mobiles..You need professional grade equipment or at least great DAC and music systems with a pair of high impedance high quality headphones [>300$] to hear that difference..not to mention really sensitive ears coz most people are not able to tell the diff even then...so please

Havn't seen any threads around here about the quality of the loudspeaker, like for mp3 ringtones and such.
I have an XDA2i and the sound is tiny, with no real range, but it does get loud enough to hear ok. I'm wondering, could anyone with an HD post a quick paragraph about how the sound is over loudspeaker.
Also, i understand there is a system equalizer. does this effect the loud speaker or only music over headphones?
Thanks, i'm waiting patiently on mine to be delivered but it's been playing on my mind (excuse the pun )
.....BANE
Considering it's a tiny speaker it's not bad. No complaints.
There is an EQ program called 'Audio Booster' which is also integrated with the TF3D music player, this does only work with headphones.
very bad sound from the speakers, quite possibly the worse i have experienced of any phone.
ringtones are quite good, i am referring to multimedia playback through the speakers.
yes I agree, it really is awful.
The speaker in it is worse than listening to a single mini headphone placed in the middle of a table. Terrible! Considering the price, a decent speaker would have been nice . .
as would a flash for the camera
as would GPS that didnt take 5 minutes
as would the ability to play movies without them stuttering
as would the ability to view flash content in web pages
as would the ability to store stuff on decent internal storage
I know all the arguments for the above, size, weight, battery . . . but you have to remember what we all paid for this device. We paid a HECK of a lot of money.
mmm.. so it coulld bea little disappointing. I guess as long as it is better than myxda2i, i'll be happy

mmm that's good. on full volume songs on the 2i were cracky. i didn't expect any bass really.
WOW, we're talking about a tiny little speaker on a phone, think some people are being a bit picky.

Philo, I do take your point honest I do, but my point is that we are paying between €600 and €700 for this puppy. That's like buying a Rolls Royce. You expect everything to be perfect and of excellent quality. Is that not a fair expectation for that amount of money?

No sir, you're not being fair. First of all, the device is not expensive, if we're to be honest about it. My uncle paidmore than usd 10,000 for a car battery size phone years back. My first brick sized phone cost close to usd 2000. Now you have phone/gps/mp3/camera/video recorder/video player/computer/radio for a mere fraction when inflation should have pushed it to usd 70,000, but we're paying 100th of that.
Next, if you're expecting a perfect quality sound, buy an FM broadcast device and play your music over your car speaker, or wire it to your home HIFI system (which I often do), or buy a good quality headset and listen to your music in that way. The speaker on the phone is mainly for the ringtone. If it is loud enough to alert you, that's mostly enough. Don't expect AC3, or 5.1 sound coming out of that because one should never try to enjoy good music from this tiny little speaker.

Same.
As long as it plays the ringtones loud enough for me to hear them - i'm happy.
These comparisons are hard for some of us. The Touch HD has attracted many new users to WinMo.
How does it compare to Nokia phones such as the N95, N95 8GB etc.

Ha ha.. I don't blame you. Most of you may not be born yet when the battery size phone first emerged..
The electronic manufacturing industry is a tough and competitive one. The speed of a product becoming obsolete is frightening. A design flaw and pricing error can cause seriuos problem. The production line have to be changed all the time for new models. I have listened to a speech by the owner/ceo of the company which manufactures iPhone and have lots of respect for the continuous drives for efficiency, technology vision, and good judgement.
A sofa, table, and furniture can still sell 10 years 20 years later if there is no demand now. But an 2 MP camera that does not sell within a certain time frame is a junk that nobody wants. So, they cannot afford to charge too much and to overprice.
Sorry a little off topic. But just to make a point that HD is not really expensive. It is good value.

I agree with that. The HD speaker is very good to alert me to incoming calls, and gives very good in-call volume. If I want to listen to quaity audio, I'l be putting in the headphones. The diamond has terrible volume in comparison. It's a bit of an issue, but not insurmountable. The HD, in my view, is more than fine.

I remember when pda's first were able to accomodate a sim card, and take calls. This was new fangled nonsense that I was completely unwilling to trust. I carried an iPaq and a seperate phone for a number of years. It wasn't until tytn that I felt that the phone ability of the combined smartphones was good enough to dispense with a dedicated phone.
Edit....
actually the SE P900 was my first smartphone where I dispensed with my ipaq (which just became a dedicated satnav). Tytn was the first WM smartphone I trusted for phone calls.
So question folks,
I have the A70H and loaded about sixty GB worth of music (11000+ songs) and I am having trouble getting them to show up in the media library. Aside the fact that it is a ridiculous amount of music, anyone know if there is a technical limitation to the library databases for Android for music, videos and photos?
Thanks in advance, I realize that it may be a strange question.

Yes and the H in the name means that 250GB HD version.
@nokturnihs:
There is a limit, around 65.000 musicfiles.
But most of the time the problem comes from either a corrupt file or a name that the mediascanner can't cope with ( # for ex ).
Check your files if you can find something like this.
The H stands for HDD Hard Disk Drive, the flash version is S ^^
Well after about a year together it came time to part ways. I got an incredible deal from my telco and took delivery last week of a new HTC Sensation XE completely free.
The GT540 is now my daughter's to play with (no sim card - just music and games).
I'd like to thank all of you on here for the support, the ROMs (good and bad) and the education.
When I bought the phone I never dreamed I'd spend so much time upgrading and modifying it - but I am so glad I did. I ended up with the last of the Murik ROM's (2.3.7) with 235 MB of internal space, 900 MHz CPU speed and a 128 MB swap file on the second partition of the SD card.
To be honest it wasn't actually very usable at the end. There just isn't quite enough memory on the phone IMHO for gingerbread.
In giving it to my daughter I've taken it all the way back to the "Black ROM" - 2.1 maintaining the internal space and the CPU speed. That was always the most robust setup for me.
Thanks again all.
MAx

Aw the old Walkman Phones I had a W580i a phone before my LG GT540, But then my Samsung Beat DJ had Beats and Olusfen Audio which was excellent. Galaxy S2 Isn't bad. 1.2ghz is enough to run on phones. I O'C it to 1.6ghz and Up the voltage without getting loss of battery. I get 4432 on Quadrant!
did use elfs on W580? i spend days modding w850, changing audio drivers, camera etc. gr8 times.
I`m bound with contract to gt540 for like 6 months, after that probable will go to xperya arc or neo. Galaxy S2 are great, but to big for me.

I also use my phone for listening to music as 1st priority , So far the best sounding one I have ever experienced was the Wolfson W8994 on SGS, has good lows, excellent mids and highs. It sounds very dynamic, warm, saturated, but a bit flat @ 192kbps unlike the Wolfson WM9093 on GT540 which has poor lows, excellent mids and good highs. It no very dynamic (limited bandwidth), low bitrate with 192kbps which sounds more like 110-128kbps, lows which cut off at around 35Hz, but overall quite warm and saturated.
~Sorry for long post, this is just for comparison.
Push it to the limit with m4a or ACC audio
For contract I got till next year June or my phone dies first or Christmas present looking for maybe galaxy r?
Wow you guys are into the hardware on these things. I have no idea what the chipset in the Sensation XE is - just that it has a Beats audio profile that works with anything that's connected through the headphone out. If you switch to the HTC sound profile the sound just dies so I am thinking the software is more important than the hardware.
On that subject - lossless recordings are the way to go. I just picked up a 32 Gb card (filled the free 16 Gb in 5 days - that's a bit embarrassing really) so there is plenty of room. I was very surprized that HTC chose to use WMA lossless as opposed to FLAC (which won't work at all AFAIK). Fortunately for me my original smartphone from 2003 was a QTEC S100 windows phone so I did have a lot of WMA lossless recordings anyway.
I have MP3's on my phone to (@ 192, 256 and 320 kbps) - not that much difference between those but a huge leap to the lossless files. If you want to know what your phone is capable of start with lossless recordings.
Dont see point of flac files on phone, to notice diference betwin 192 an higher and flac you need preamp and headphones that cost like 250+ euro.

With the HTC sensation I can confirm 90% that it is a T.I. texas instrument chipset but what model idk.
Can be a bit frustrating using up 16GBs knowing the Sensation will accept no more than 32GB Sdcards.I am too surprised HTC decided to go with a priority Microsoft Codec and a pose to a more decent ones ~not familiar with FLAC through, but will give it a try.
MP3 is also a very good audio codec, 192kbps seems to be a physical limitation of human hearing which explains why you couldn't hear much difference from it.
I do recommend you to give AAC audio a go. AAC audio has better fidelity, more clearer and noticeable instrumental noise and tune in rap songs along with tighter bass.

I think about 13 was available? A quick google might answer that question more precisely I'm not using the phone for music or lots of movies. I don't expect to run into difficulties in that area.
16gb is plenty,
NEXUS 4 USER
To be honest, 16GB is too much space for me. I have around 1.3 gigs of my dev stuff, some apps (NFS Most Wanted People complain all the time about how they need 32/64GB of storage but the only reason I can think of needing that much is for music and movies. You can stream those as well so it's not a big deal.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
16GB is probably enough for most, but you can always get a wifi storage device if you need more.
i just bought a pqi air drive and put a 32GB class 10 sd card in it for movies/ music etc.

First of all, I don't own nexus 4 but a galaxy s3 with expendable micro sd slot. But I do want to get nexus 4 as well!!
From my personal usage, 16gig is simply not enough. I play lots of heavy games most of them from gameloft, each will take >1gig space and I do shot pictures videos and have tons of other applications installed as well.
I put videos, pictures and musics on sd card but still, only 2.3gig left on internal storage.
I know maybe vanilla android will be smaller than touchwiz but considering >10gig video and pictures that I have, 16gig just won't be enough .
Of course, you may not be like me and can use cloud storage. In the end, it's how you use your phone for the most, and regardless nexus 4 or other phones, it will be the same.
Sent from my GT-I9305 using xda app-developers app
I've not installed any games yet, but I imagine once I do, the space will begin to go quickly. Music I'm less worried about, I stream mainly from YouTube etc. Video recording will be interesting though.
I would have preferred an SD card option, just because it's a fallback. An SD model would have probably convinced me to go for an 8GB N4, but no SD meant I had to go for the 16GB one.
The lack of OTG on this phone is a worry, but at the end of the day, considering the relative ubiquity of WiFi/3G internet in most developed countries, I don't think it's a big problem for streaming video, music etc, so really it's just games and what not that might be the struggle. I'm thinking of setting up a dropbox, (First time for me) which would be good for videos, and music and what not. I'm just not convinced of the price thats all. 2GB isn't very much, and as I have a pretty unlimited web server I could take advantage of that.

Of course, you may not be like me and can use cloud storage. In the end, it's how you use your phone for the most, and regardless nexus 4 or other phones, it will be the same.

I m coming from SGS3 16Gb+32Gb mem card.
And I had to adjust. I have some music (had to choose what I m not listening to too often, haha).
About 1.5 Gb of nandroid+5/600 mb of rom and flashable stuff.
I ve had to stop walking around with whole seasons of TV, that s for sure But it's doable.
In the end, no matter how much space you do have, it ll get filled up with things that you don't actually need, so that s OK to pick and chose I ve got to say that I m not having any issue thinking about apps or not, I just get all in there and it fits!
So that s my experience, all in all, you have to think how to adjust, cause you ll have to do so.
Also, cloud storage? I ve got 1.8 Gb of data/month on my plan so yeah, that won't work. Since it s not when I m near Wi-Fi that I need to be mobile !
I wanna say that before I had the Nexus 4 I was thinking that 8GB is more than enough! And in my country there is only the 16GB version but boy I am glad that this was the case! On 16GB you have 12.92GB (don't ask me why theres 3GB less I don't know how system can take more than 1GB) and on 8GB you have only 5.67GB!
Now i have like 2,5GB free space left on my 16GB version! It is okay I wouldn't mind having more space though I didn't have any problems yet. But I noticed some games are very big if you are a games 16GB might be too small (I'm no gamer though most of my space is taken by music).
AW: Any felt the need of sd card yet?
My storage was full. but after getting rid of all the junk.. old roms etc it was ..ok:thumbup:

It has been a compromise for me. I'm also a musician and like to carry my entire music collection with me. I wasn't a fan of using the cloud because when I'm underground in the subway and I want to hear a song and if it's not cached I'm screwed. It has taken a bit of adjustment. I have a 32GB GS3 with a 64GB card and between music, videos, movies, pictures I filled more than half of the 64gb card.
I also don't have as many apps installed on my N4. I've definitely had to scale things down a bit. Although, I am having an easier time dealing with it then I thought I would.
I have 8gb and what I miss from my s2 (16gb + 32gb sdcard) is all the backups, roms I had.. Besides that, everything is fine
I bought the 16 GB version and haven't needed one yet. I ended up buying a 32GB Nexus 7 which is mainly used for heavy games like Vice City and NFS, leaving me with quite a bit of storage left on my Nexus 4. I stream all my music from Google play since I have unlimited data and Wi-Fi is pretty much everywhere I go.

Any comments on the performance compared to S3? physically as well? I know that adreno 320 is much better than the mali 400 but by how much?

use google music. even when i used sd i couldnt put my collection on it, i had to cut it in half. with gm i have my entire collection with me whereever i go. i live in two countries with long travels in between without connection - its as easy as tapping on the stuff i wanna listen to while being offline. you can make it even easier if you use playlists. i wasnt sure about cloud either but the way i see it, it works pretty well. i'd even say better than cutting my collection in half to fit 32gb.

I've been using GM. The only thing that sucks is sometimes I will be underground in the subway and feel like hearing a song out of the blue. If it's not a song that is cached then I'm out of luck.

Yeah I did. But I don't know if I'd want to carry it around with me. For that I could just carry my GS3 with me
I really was turned off by the lack of storage on the N4(I wasn't going to get one for that only reason) but I'm making due. If anything it keeps me on top of keeping my phone tidy and organized because instead of just leaving everything on the SD card I now clean it out every couple days to remove stuff taking up space. And instead of having like 50 games installed I only have the ones I'm currently playing installed
isn't there a way to unscrew the thing and replace the inner one? I think there's an inner sd card which can be replaced...I mean, my friend has htc mozart and it also doesn't have a proper slot for external card however if one unscrew the back, there's a card deep inside which can be replaced with a bigger one...Isn't it the same with Nexus 4?
For me 16 GB is plenty of space, the only thing I miss the SD slot for is easy transfer of files. I don't have to plug the phone in to transfer files.
I haven't tried the NFC / BT or WIFI (can;t use in corporate network) for file transfers.
Other than that I have been very happy with this phone, no root, stock ui, I am loving it.

I have my nexus 7 for the movies and honestly I don't understand people watching movies on a tiny screen.
I also don't understand people who "knows" more than 2500 songs.
And the ones who can play 5 different game loft games on a daily basis.
So 12 isn't enough for obsessive compulsive people who has to have everything with them.
I bet they carry a huge bag stuffed with stuff as well. In case they suddenly happen to go on a holiday or something.
Samsung have announced that in June they are releasing the 256gb micro sd card. The s7 was advertised as being compatible up to 200gb. Will the 256gb one be compatible ?
As we all Know officialy the S7 Supports up to 200 GB and as far I know the 256 GB is right now not supported but I read somewhere there will be an Software-Update that can make it compatible but don't sure about it.
I seem to remember that my s3 was compatible to 32gb but I had a 64 gb one in it. And the s5 was up to 64 but I had a 128gb in it
If it's SDXC, it's compatible.
Technically all SDXC card is compatible. There's no such thing as 200gb limit but samsung said so because the largest card at that time was 200gb.

I did presume as much. Just wish they'd get a move on and release it.
If they release a 256gb note 6 with sd card slot up to 256gb it's got insane storage
I have this this microsd, but you can insert a 256 of s7
Each to their own but with cloud storage, streaming services like Spotify, Netflix and Amazon Prime, I've really no idea why anyone would want or need a 256gb SD card in a phone at this point, let along be impatient for it to be released. Surely complete overkill. Combine my 64gb MMC and the 32gb internal storage and I have enough room for anything.
I'm genuinely curious, why would someone need this? It seems like a desire based on little more than the fact it's a big number to me.

I live in a city and mobile reception isn't too bad, but even so you can't be guaranteed to get reception good enough to stream music and video etc without breakups and buffering. If I go somewhere out of town (such as to my parents house) there is almost no chance of getting decent data reception.
In my opinion being able to use cloud services for streaming music and video and accessing files reliably is still many years away...
I have a 200gb card in my phone and it's getting pretty full, so if manufacturers are making bigger cards I am definitely interested!

First of all if you're a fake music fan then you'd stream. Real music fans listen to real music you can't find on streaming in a good quality file. A real music fan simply would never consider low quality streaming.
Some of us have hefty music collections that is impossible to carry around with us or stream.
In the uk we don't have unlimited data on 4g unless your on a certain network which actually doesn't offer 4g at all.
The cost of data allowance in the UK is so abhorrent a real music fan would struggle with it. It's economical to buy a huge memory card.
Simple as that. It's not difficult to comprehend .
Plus connection is never garenteed. Carry around your music is garenteed connection . Streaming is years away from bring truly userable to the general user let alone the power user.

Right, firstly, there was no need to be condescending with your ridiculous "fake music fan" and "not difficult to comprehend" comments. You just sound foolish and it does nothing for your argument.
Secondly, the extreme quality setting on Spotify is more than good enough for almost any music you wish to listen to on the move, plus you can download for offline use at the same quality. Sure, it's obviously not be as good as FLAC or other lossless codecs, but it's not as bad as you make out either. And believe me, I'm a bit of an audiophile as you would know if you took one look at the equipment I own. We're talking about a mobile phone with an average DAC, on the move, and the issues that come with that like background noise etc, which no earphones or headphones can completely cancel. If you want to listen to your music properly to the point where dynamics matter that much, it wouldn't be through a mobile phone so lets not pretend you're some sound perfectionist and only the best will do.
As for data in the UK, I get 15gb a month on a decent deal. If you shop around you get get something that will suffice, and you certainly don't need unlimited. And I get 4G nearly everywhere now with Vodafone.
Pipe down. You came into the thread with attitude s9 you got attitude. Save it for oprah

That's the ticket, continue with the condescension.
Save it for oprah. Go troll somewhere else
Yeah, you can see by how long I've been here and my like count that I'm a troll. If the repeated Oprah comment is the best you can do in response to my points then I'll leave you to it, which should make you happy.

15GB wow, here u can just get like 8gb and is extremly expensive, so I live with 3GB.....
That's the first reason to not use stream, second one is: stream services stream what is popular, if we compare, there are like 5% of my music library on the stream services, so there's no point to depend on that services (also, I have to say even extreme quality sounds not so good in street situations, I'm almost always in my car, driving)
And that just talking about music, I record a lot (no need for a dedicated camera, this phone is just right, almost perfect) and some days I need more than 32GB (2X u really get) between my music and videos and photos I take, plus all apps I have installed... thats why I need more that just internal storage, is not about trolls, is about different usages
I'm using the Sandisk 200 GB card from the LG V10 promotion. I'd imagine 256 GB will work too. Might try it myself because this card has terrible write (even sequential) and random write/read speeds.
It'll work just fine. Samsung only says it supports 200 GB, because that was the biggest SD size at the time, but it, and other top tier phones today, supports up to 2TB.
"But 2TB MicroSD doesn't exist!"
Exactly, and that's why Samsung doesn't market the 2TB support, but 200GB, which exists.
First, the pics these phones take are huge these days, I take lots of pics and some videos at max resolution, definitely need 200GB+. Second, air and car travel both require local music, so the fight over streaming vs local is moot... Quality is a possible reason for local music, but even if streaming music is good enough (true for some/many), if you travel streaming is not guaranteed, and is rarely available as opposed to rarely not available. Cloud storage and streaming services are sometimes an answer, Sometimes the problem.
I'm a bit of a storage whore because I like to have movies, emulator roms, and music stored on there, while still having room for all the pics from this phone and the last couple (S6 + Note 5) and more pics in the future.
I'm also cheap and went with a pretty fast 128GB card for $35 and I have plenty of room still.
The 32GB built-in is barely ample if you have a handful of large games that don't actually move anything to SD when you perform the "move to SD" function. When my S7E was rooted, FolderMount didn't work to get the data for games/apps moved to microSD, so I like to keep the built-in memory available for apps while keeping pics and extras on microSD.
Back when I had the S6 and Note5 with no microSD, I used the nifty 64GB SanDisk USB3.0 + microUSB slider keychain thingie https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-connector-Android-Devices-SDDD2-064G-G46/dp/B00RBGYGPG $16 is all it costs now, haha.
