Hello, I defy this with hard brick
what can I do? sbf've tried but all I use no longer has the motorola logo appeared, after flashing the screen is just black ...
I tried flashing with Linux without success ... I can not enter the mode recevery
have some way to go with Linux defy the recovery?
Can u enter Bootloader ?
if yes use the tool sbf_flash to flash a froyo sbf...
u need to wipe data after flashing sbf or it will bootloop
Check your battery charge and i think if RSD lite detects ur phone, then u can surely flash. u must able to see the moto logo..use some sbf s which u should flash after ur phone becomes dead!!...
If ur phone's battery is down, i think u should follow some dangerous method...i m not able to recall that method...but check "android development " section..u l find it
And dont try flashing a lower version sbf..u l get into trouble....use the version u had before ur phone became dead....try deleting ur cache/user data before flashing a new sbf........
If you can enter the bootloader then you're saved.

Your Defy is not bricked.
Use RDS lite and load any SBF that is convinient for you.
Then use keys vol down and power -> when you see "!" mark press simultinuosly vol down + vol up --> clean data and reboot.
After reboot you'll be able to enter the system you loaded by RDS lite.
Than use Gingerbreak and Sndinit and you can enter the bootloader.
Good luck.
I have used several sbf, except 2.3. I defy CM7 and was given this problem, I can not remember why it is time ...
Now I spend sbf and he did not react, when it finishes and says he is restarting rsd, the defy not only erases and resets after a few seconds the rsd lite appears PASS
I can only access the bootloader, the recovery can not
have you resolved your problem? iam in the same boat... sbf flashing has left me with a flatline... black screen...
noo man

You are not doing it properly. First of all make sure your phone is powered off. Then press the vol up key and keep pressing it. Then press the power key. Do not relese the vol up key till you see the bootloader.
you seem to be pressing vol-.
you have to press vol+ and then power on button or press vol+ and battery insert

are your vol buttons working properly?
To use the RST, you must use the Vol + button. If done correctly the motorola logo will not appear.

All started when the Defy began to restart on the startup MotoBlur screen, I went into recovery mode (vol-) and restore the original settings, but continued with the same problem. I tried to install via RSD Lite the Froyo rom, the Defy booted and stopped on the screen where need to enter the MOTOBLUR account, but he came back to restart.
After I entered the bootloader (vol+) with the rom JORLA, started normally and the screen to set up the account MOTOBLUR he restarts (again) with the same problem. I removed the battery to enter the bootloader to put Froyo rom again but no longer entered the bootloader, I tried the recovery menu and also failed. I put the charger and nothing, stay on the screen with the M in the center, it blink and does not leave him, I put in the USB but a white light turn on and the computer does not recognize anything.
I don't know what I do.
Sorry for my english ...

I've a similar problem on a NEW Motorola Defy...
...can't go in Bootloader!!!
I've pressed Power and Vol+ BEFORE insert battery and doesn't work!
Recovery Mode works but I can't use RSD Lite to flash (is possible without recovery???)
My phone is a Defy Mini with red lens, 600 MHz CPU (so it isn't a Plus) and 1700mAH battery (like Plus?).
Is a italian phone branded by TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile), maybe they made some "lock"?
try this:
start and set RSDlite with your favorite sbf
than conect the phone in OFFMODE
if the RSDlite see your phone (something like this"S Flash 3630)
start flash the sbf
if not, try to charge the battery(could be empty) and try again
if even so RSDlite not see the phone NOW you have a problem
good luck

Hi!
Sorry it's my first question here on XDA forum.
I have a Defy with CWM, and Stock ROM. Can I use format system partition, and then flash a Custom ROM from a zip file in CWM? Or should I use just wipe data/cache, then flash a Custom ROM? Which is better?
Thanks

First: You posted in wrong thread, this thread is only for that defy's not going in locked on M logo and no recovery & bootloader. 2nd: You don't need to format system rom, because cwm wipe it while flashing ROM zip. Just wipe data/cache/dalvik and you'll fine.
Has anyone saved this problem ? i`m into the same situation...
Try monkey method - hold volup + power and when insert battery. Helped for me once. If this method will not help try this - 1.remove phone battery from defy, 2.plug charger to socket ,but not in the phone, 3. Holding volup button plug charger in phone without battery, 4. It should enter in bootloader but with blinking VATTERY LOW. CANNOT PROGRAM, 5. put battery in phone, 6. Reflash with rsd lite. If above metods not helping - still moto logo - mainboard fried, when only one solution - service center. Good luck.

Ya got it. Try to enter into stock recovery and wipe data, cache. It should work. If it doesn't, again flash with the one you flashed. Pull the battery out hold vol+ and power button and insert the battery you should enter into bootloader and the flash the sbf. Note: Now if you just insert your battery your phone will boot up so remove the battery, hold whatever keys you want and then insert the battery. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618718 If can't get it fixed send a message will help you.

You will get an upgrade but it won't allow you downgrade. Let me know whether it worked or not.

Now turn on the phone and first boot will take some time. press once and when the phone starts release the button. Nothing will happen even if you hold

Pull the battery and reinsert it while holding Vol-Down. This usually works as a power-up.
Do it while connected to a PC. The PC should sound the "device connected" sound.
If the white LED comes on, it usually means the phone is OFF and charging. No LED usually means it's ON and in BL mode (you should get the white text on black screen, but you won't if you have flashed a 'bad' SBF).
Try this a few times.
If nothing else is broken you should be able to get into BL mode and flash an SBF.
But your power button needs to be mechanically fixed at some stage, or your phone isn't going to be much use.

Doesn't bootmenu (Recovery) give you option to reboot into Bootloader? If so, do this and flash an SBF.

Even if it does, power button is malfunctioning, hence can't select it...

OK so if the phone will boot into recovery it SHOULD also boot into bootloader ?
Maybe I confused OP by saying hold "Vol Down" when I meant "Vol UP" ???
Anyway, OP will probably not get too far without a functional Power button.

Are you SURE? I have had Bootloader work even though nothing shows on screen (when I flashed the wrong SBF). The screen was black but RSD could still "see" the device.
Defy has a locked bootloader (cannot be overwritten), so the fact that you can boot into recovery indicates the bootloader is still there and working. Maybe the problem is in your version of RSD Lite, or your version of drivers installed on the PC, or in your USB cable?
Try uninstalling the drivers from the PC, then rebooting, then attaching the phone and insert battery while holding Vol-Up. This SHOULD reinstall the BL drivers to the PC. Try another USB cable - I have had cables which work for charging but not for data transfer.

Help me
I have installed on my Defy MB525 the Recovery (file defy_recovery-1218-0326-signed) following the instructions in this link.
But now it does not work. Turns on and remains on the motorola logo.
I riflesh it with Rsd lite with the original firmware, but it still does not work
I tried to turn it back on premedo power + volume - but it appears the triangle with exclamation point error
What can I do?
Thanks
Hey there.
Could you post the link with the instructions?
Also, what kind of ROM are you trying to install?
When you see a yellow triangle, press volume up and down at the same time to enter recovery and wipe caches. Reboot.

U're welcome. If you want a custom recovery just install 2nd init 2.0 like any other app, easy way from this thread.
many thanks to all,
seguendo i consigli ho installato
CM10-20130110_2boot-NIGHTLY-mb526
and it all works perfectly
Thanks
