Meifeng Quicksand Hard Case from eBay
Sorry about the long delay in updating this thread with correct pictures and what not. Without any further ado , here's my quick review!
The case looks fantastic. It keeps the sleek look and design of the Find 5 with minimal extrusion while protecting vital areas like corner scratching and micro scratches on the back.. though the Find 5 frame is made of steel, it still scratches like the rest of em. The case fits like a glove.. maybe even a little tighter. There really was no "snap" into place, the edges of the case hug nicely around the frame of the phone but you can feel and distinguish the correct fit once in place. It has started to pop off once in my pocket but a firm press to get the lip of the case over the edge of the phone was an easy fix and it hasn't done it since. For someone who doesn't like to case their phone, this is a good alternative. Even though you have a case on, it really does not hinder the look and feel of this phone. I do recommend one of these. Keep in mind this is a minimal case, so minimal protection is offered. Corners are covered as well as the edges of the phone. The only gripe, and I don't see how this is avoidable, but the hardware keys on the Find 5 don't stick out a whole lot, and are already a little stiff to the press. So with a case on you find you need to be directly on the key to press, no half finger on the case and button. But.. that said, it's not a big deal. Here are a few pics!

I'd be interested in your thoughts on this case. I like it a lot.
I have received and been using this hard case for alittle more than a week now.
I am very IMPRESSED with the quality of this case. I got the black one. There are assortment of other colors.
It snaps on, and fits snugly. Absolutely no complaint about fitmentation.
From the name, I was expecting a sandy or grainy texture. However, it's more like velvety soft texture. Very nice, indeed.
The power and volume area are cut out, and are easily accessible.
No problem plugging in various headphones.
All four corners of the phone are protected. The fascade is raise alittle to protect the screen from scratches.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the slim low profile, and high quality of the case.
Below are some pictures. Sorry, about the low res. It's taken from my Macbook Pro camera.

Yes, shipping isn't the fastest from the seller.
It took two weeks for me. But, definitely worth the wait.

It's not slippery at all. It's the least slippery case I have ever had for all my phones.

Got mine.. looks a bit different then the other one that was posted with pics. It showed up the day before I left town.. so I haven't had time really to update the OP with my review and pics. I get home Wednesday.. will have an updated OP by the end of the week!

I have the Meifeng smooth case in white(which is actually more of a clear) and the Nillkin texture case in black. Both work well. Bought both on eBay in advance and they came day after the phones.
I personally cannot stand flip cases, and just want something that protects the phone while sliding in and out of my pocket. Both of them serve this purpose expertly. They aren't going to offer you much drop protection though.

Hey OP! How's the case holding up after around 2 months of use? I know the case is not slippery, so how does it feel if you put it in a pocket? Like the front pocket of normal jeans? Any info before I buy it would be appreciated.
Thanks!
More Pictures!
Took some pictures of mine today.
It feels really good and fits perfectly, nothing moves and no creaking

Hi there! I've been meaning take a couple pictures to show the wear and tear but still haven't and wanted to at least reply to you.
Case is still holding up great. Its doesn't show much use at all other than getting a little dirty along the edges- you can tell its not brand new. The nice blue has gotten a little darker. The bottom corners of the case show a little wear also. Its very faint and not very noticeable but if you look close enough you can see where the corners are a little rubbed off.
Overall, very pleased with this minimal case. A friend even saw me take the case off the phone and was shocked there was a case on it to begin with!

A little too shiny for my taste, but it still looks great.

Looks like you could bounce a laser off that one. Yeah, too shiny for me. It is also kind of a fingerprint/smudge magnet. Nice work though.
It looks great! Personally I wouldn't do it to mine right now. The ipods have a shiny back like that too and it lives finger orbits and scratches.
If my backing starts to look bad I may do this. How did you do it?

You must work at a body shop or on cars as a hobby. That just screams it to me. I have plenty of gearhead friends that do the same type of thing. Nice work btw! The best I can do is change oil and brake pads on a good day lol! I did just redo the gasket on my oil pan and it wasn't too bad plus changed one of my O2 sensors. That was a royal pain without the proper wrench.... anyways, sorry to ramble on good work! Might have to steal that idea. Ever think of doing the same to the phone bezel so it would match? You'd have to be EXTREMELY careful though.

How did you do it? Did you use automobile metal polish? Do you know what type of metal its made out of? I was thinking about doing this a little while back and forgot about it. And I also want to etch some custom art into it as well. Make it more personalized
I would also like to do the trim piece but it would be tricky to do it without touching anything else, and I don't see myself taking it off.

That is straight G bro. I'm going to do that too because the clown that I got the phone from surface scrated the hell out of the back. I do keep a velcro patch on the back so I can stick it the my center consel it keeps it from getting sratched anymore too.

you should have finished it off with wetsanding with 4000 and then polished it with a rotating cloth and some oil (but not to intence, the oil can make the metal dark and ugly if u let it heat up too much from the friction)
i polished a piece of metal like that one time, made it clearer than my bathroom mirror
but still nice work

Zagg is horrible. They all feel like they were dragged through sand before shipping out.
yeah, this was my first time using zagg, i needed something right away and that was the only one i could find in store yesterday.
I had a Zagg on my Captivate. And I know what you mean about the orange peel effect. It made using Swype really interesting. But honestly after like 2 weeks the skin totally smoothed out. The same one is still on that Captivate and my daughter is using it 23 months later and it still looks good. I probably won't ever buy one again but to be fair they do have a long break-in period.
I have Skinomi, came out perfect.
Zagg actually advertises the orange peel as a feature, not the drawback it actually it. "Gives more grip!" ugh

Think its suppose to be their anti glare feature...either way I avoid Zaggs whenever possible.
Yeah haven't used zagg since my iPhone 3GS days. One day I left my phone on top of my car and the material prevented it from sliding off after being on the road for around 5 miles (never went over 50 though). The same material made it way to labored to use the touch screen though....
The Skinomi screen protector is really cheap on Amazon right now:
http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-TechS...=1340480601&sr=1-1&keywords=galaxy+s3+skinomi
It says normally it's $11.95. Right now it's $0.99
I'm using the Moshi iVisor AG. This one you can peel off and wash when it gets dirty. So far, so good. Feels pretty good as well.
I'm not a Moshi fan. It ruins the screen clarity.

Meh. The older Zaggs were better, and i've still got 2 that can fit a 4.3, maybe a 4.5. I'll probably use them if i ever decide to get a smaller phone- the S3 is a tad bit too large for my tastes.
Try these.

Somebody in the One X forum was raving about them so I ordered them. I put them on today and they really are incredible. I would challenge anyone to detect a screen protector was on my phone. I've used Zagg's and these are thinner, not draggy to the touch, and have no orange peel. They are wet apply and were pretty easy to get on correctly. And the One X is a ***** because of all the angular cuts it has on the sides. It also comes with protection for the camera lens. Mine's curing but I'll post pics of it on a grey phone for you pebble blue people when it's set.
Here's a pic from the One X post...

That's the beauty of leather in stead if aging it gains character and beauty
I like how my natural leather back aged but after a month or so it turned completely black where my hands would grip, this was fine for me but would kill the resale value (I usually change phone once a year-year and a half). last week my natural leather back ripped and and i ended up ordering a cognac leather backed one instead, its lighter then i expected but oh well.

i'm going to try this, they used it on black which wouldn't really show any dirt removal. but i will try it.
My navy blue model is a month old and it looks like it's fresh out the box (well, except for a big scratch near the top where I gouged it with my nail on accident ).
Yeah it's pretty much impossible to keep the leather pristine with daily use. I got the black leather and I sometimes wish I'd gotten wood instead, but overall I still love it. I keep my phone in it's own pocket and I'm gentle with it, but even a the wrong swipe with a fingernail will put a dent in it. My black leather doesn't show much dirt, but I've got a fair amount of denting.
Well boys, tried the saddle soap and it doesn't seem to help.
It's leather!!!! It will wear and absorb the oils from your hands. It isn't going to look new.
I knew after a few days it wasn't going to hold up well. I would have been okay with a little wear over time but I didn't go two days before I noticed spots on it. I ended up exchanging it.

I have always thought part of the beauty of leather items, was the aging process. I have always done things to accelerate the process, I never thought anyone would want to curtail it.

My 2013 plastic back looked flawless till the day I got rid of it...
I don't quite know which to get. Does anyone know which one is the most resistant to wear/scratches? Do any of them look really good in person? Are there differences between the different types of wood? I'm kind've clueless here.
Obviously durability remains to be seen but I got the leather back and I like it a lot. It looks good and is very comfortable to hold. It has a nice texture, enough grip but not too much.

I posted this on reddit earlier, but it seems like it might address your concerns as well. I was initially sent a faulty device, so since it was going back anyway, I decided to have a quick go at testing the wood back's durability. I didn't go crazy on it, but I did jab at it pretty hard with my fingernail, and it was surprisingly resilient. Despite trying, I wasn't able to scratch/ dent it in any meaningful way that couldn't be rubbed out. That being said, the one downside I'm noticing with the wood backs is that they appear to be thinner than both the leather and the silicone. Pictures I have seen of the leather and silicone show the back resting flush, or slightly above the metal edge of the phone. With the wood it sits slightly below that edge and as a result there is a small metal lip around the entire outside edge of the wood back. This isn't terrible, but it is definitely something you can feel when holding the phone, and it makes the build feel slightly less premium. I will say that the wood already feels nicer to the touch than when I first received the phone. At first it feels a bit like a sticker, but I'm assuming the oils from my hands are making it feel much more like wood.
I also got the black leather. But I find it to be very slippery. I've heard the rubber backs have the best grip. Given the size of the device, the ability to hold it in one hand has to be a consideration. I like the "look" of my leather back, but the feel is too slippery. I'm hoping that as the leather wears, perhaps it will improve in grip over time. But it's not any less slippery than day one at this point.
And although the rubber may have better grip. I'm thinking something that holds to the hand better, probably holds germs better to [emoji14] . So there's a plus and minus to it more than likely IMHO.
I can only assume leather gives the best life long durability. Simply because leather should .
As mentioned, only time will tell .

I have the rubber back and wood back. Wood looks so much better, rubber feels more secure, they both are resistant to objects in my pockets, desks, dirt, etc...Think I will keep wood since its so beautiful. I'm just waiting to see what the crop of bumpers look and feel like when they start being released.

Good leather conditioner will give it just right the amount of tack and make it look good while keeping leather conditioned.
I've got the charcoal ash back and I'm loving it! I've had the phone for two weeks now and it looks exactly the same as it did when I unboxed it. I don't find it too slippery either.

Also, does anyone know if the Charcoal Ash Wood is more gray or black? I'm trying to go for a "Droid" (black and red) look, and I'm wondering if I should go with that, Ebony Wood, Black Soft Grip, or Black Leather (though probably not Black Leather considering one of you said it was slippery). I'm leaning towards wood, as it would be the most unique.

Mine is dark... Definitely more black than gray IMO. Here are some shots of it:

Oh boy, that's better than I'd hoped! Moto Maker really doesn't capture the look of these things.

Correct, Moto Maker simulations don't come close to the real thing.
That's why I made this thread, for people to post photos or the front and back of their actual device.
I will say, the real thing looks better than Moto Maker simulations, for every design I've seen.
Now after a couple weeks use. The black leather back has good grip. Now I am happy with it as the back for the long haul. I am also going to put leather conditioner on it today.
Go leather .

After applying the leather conditioner. The grip is perfect.

Just received my phone yesterday and set it up. Now I'm trying to figure out which case would be good to protect it. That one that comes with it is good for fingerprints but won't really protect it as the rear camera sticks up and it doesn't even protect the front screen as it's not high enough. Any thoughts on what case may work well, or ones to avoid? I'll start looking. Thanks.
iBetter, awesome case. Protect camera lens by . 1mm. Can buy on Amazon.de or .co.uk. Maybe .com too.

why hide beautiful hardware under a case?
Always the original Xiaomi. Don't buy yellow, getting dirty soon.

I know but if I drop it the front or back may shatter. I know it's Gorilla glass 5, but it's still glass. I'm looking for a case that's not too overpowering but still protects it. Something clear maybe with some bumpers in the corners and that rises up above the lenses on the back to keep them from getting scratched. I'll find something. Thanks.

as my RSM once told me "eh soldier, you are not supposed to drop your phone you know?"
i'm waiting on my flex filament to arrive before i print out my corner studs. that's the only acceptable "protection" to me to minimally detract from the beautiful hardware.

I know. That's what I'm talking about. Do you have a 3D printer? I guess you'll leave the lenses unprotected in the back. I bought this one about a week ago, but it may take another week or so to get to me. If it seems good once it arrives I'll let you all know. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Xiaomi...Slim-Soft-TPU-AirBag-Case-Cover-/123666850179. Thanks.

yupe, have a printer,
i have designed my corner to take into account of the additional height offset of the protruding lens,
i also made the top right piece into 1 huge piece to include a skirt around the lens.

Really cool. You'll have to show us the final product once it's done. What do you think of the one I bought? It looks a little overwhelming, but it's the best one I found so far. And it was cheap. This one's unobtrusive and looks good, but I'm not sure it provides protection for the back lenses, and also it doesn't have any corner protection. https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Xiaomi...-Clear-Case-Cover-Tempered-Glass/254208605942
Heading back to bed. It's after 1 am here. I'll check back in later today.

looks similar to the clear silicon case they threw in with sans the color highlights.
visually clear is the best, but you are still missing out on the feel of the hardware. you should really try the phone without protection, RAW is best. i like the feel of the phone a lot and it's a fingerprint magnet.
the best advice i can give you to not drop your phone is to not pick up the phone so much. The more time the phone spends not in your hands is proportional to the risk of phone drops. while the time the phone spends in your hands exponentially increases the phone drop risk.

I love this case:

The navy blue one looks really nice and it protects well. Plus it's $4, so that's an easy call to make.

Looks very protective. Thanks.
You're not just worried about the front/back but the sides as well.
This week my Ferilnso 2.5d tempered glass cracked while my brand new 1 week old Redmi Note 7 was in my pocket.
Somehow a tiny piece of glass shard made its way into the side of my free RN7's case and managed to scuff a small section on side of my phone.
You can only imagine how pissed I was finding out my glass screen protector not only cracked BUT also scuffed the side of my phone WHILE IT WAS IN THE FREAKING CASE!!!!
Moral of the story, you want full protection including the sides not just the front/back glass.
I'm now on the hunt for a better quality case than the free one Xiaomi gives us in the box

Trying to find a Rexang clear case for my RN7 similar quality to the blue and rose gold cases my wife and I had on our old Honor 8 phones.
Also had a very similar style goosberry brand case in gold on my old Note 4.
Those cases were so durable. Cannot tell you how many times the phone fell on hard surfaces and nothing happened. AND the case still looked good after lol
