App trouble (uninstalling itself) - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I did a factory reset and flashed a custom rom. Everything was working fine. I restored all my apps through TiBu, but the Gmail app restore didn't happen. The app wasn't installed, so I tried to download it from the play store and it kept giving me an error about not being able to install.
I searched up a bit and tried to side load a gmail apk in the data/app folder, then reboot and the app store would finally let me install gmail. But now the gmail app that i install uninstalls itself on reboot lol. This is such a screwup. What do I do?

The gmail2.apk and gmail2.odex should be installed in the /system/app folder. Try putting them there.

Spent more time that I should have trying to fix this. I ended up doing another factory reset and just reflashing the rom. Since this happened right after I installed a new rom anyway. Just have to be more careful in the future.

[Q] how you undeodex????

Hi i deodexed my phone 2 weeks back and ever since then my market seems to just randomly stock working every morning. to get it working again, i have to go to CWM, install the deodex file from this forum, reinstall my theme, and reinstall my kernal(stupid-fast). the only fix i can think of is undoing the deodex. any tips??
I would try wiping and reinstalling whatever rom you are using.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
well i did a full odin restore, installed a stock.zip, turned on my phone, signed into google, and my market worked for 30 seconds and now everything is "download unsuccessful" as it was doing before. am i screwed? lol
I use appbrain to manage all of my apps. Install the app first then sync all of your apps. After wiping/clearing cache, you can just reinstall appbrain, sign in and sync.

apps and new roms

when ever i flash a new rom all the apps that i have installed even ones i uninstalled start to download in the market ?? any idea how to fix this maybe even wipe my maket history beside my paid apps and i just started using lex lite 3 and im getting random reboots
Clear your cache in Koush's bootstrap.
thank u i will try this
that didnt do anything to the market its still trying to download all those apps even though i already ran titanium
Funny, I recently reflashed fission rom and experienced the same thing. I thought about playing with the "detach from market" option in Titanium Backup.
Ultimately I just manually stopped all the downloads and proceeded in setting up my accounts and batch restoring my apps via Titanium.
I think this happens when you first sign into Google after you boot your new rom for the first time. I skip logging into Google, and then it doesn't download all the apps right away. later I set up my google account and then go into the market and reinstall what I want.
as always, don't quote me on this
Hope this helps.

[Q] Lost Google Play Store!

So I rooted my S5 today and everything went well. I backed up my downloaded apps (not system apps) with titanium backup. I then got the cracked version of the Google Play store. I eventually decided against it and went to uninstall it and accidentally uninstalled the Google Play store! I have tried to reinstall the apk file but it just crashes on start-up every time. Finally, I tried to factory reset and the app still did not appear. I am at a loss and I have tried every solution I have come across and nothing works. Please help

Flash a stock or custom rom to reinstall Google Play and Services/Framework.
Yep that worked! Thanks a million!

Pictures App Not Working (LRX21T)

I flashed the LRX21T factory image and used CF-Auto Root and noticed that when I try to open the Photos app (the new Lollipop gallery I guess?) it just force closes. It doesn't even try to open, it just shows a message saying that it stopped working. I even went and completely removed the app with Titanium Backup, pulled the APK from the system image on my PC and reinstalled it, but it still doesn't work.
I did also use Titanium Backup to remove some apps I never use (Newstand, Google+, etc) so I am going to reflash the factory image tonight after work and try it, then root and try it and if it works I'll try to narrow down what app I removed caused it to stop working and post here.
I was just interested to see if anyone else had this problem.

[Q] Device reset?

When i was flashing some app, my nexus stopped at the boot animation during reboot. I tried clearing cache and flashing the kernel again without luck. So i flashed system.img using fastboot. After a reboot all my apps are gone. I can still see my sdcard data from the computer. How to restore my apps with data. Also google apps seems to be missing as well (Only few apps like maps, email, play games/movies etc are present and they are not working as well since google play services not running). I am not able to add an account. Please help
Somebody please help me out.
What did you try to flash that caused this?
I flashed moto g gallery from apps and themes section. I ended up formatting everything (I did back up my sdcard which contains my earlier TiB backup files). What I want to know is that whenever i messed up system files in kitkat or JB, flashing the same system.img restores everything without effecting my apps/apps data. Will it not work in LP ? Have anyone tried this.
The new installation wasn't pretty as well. I was not able to login to my google account (couldn't connect to google servers). After repeated tries I was able to do so. I installed all my previous apps from wondershare toolkit. But after a random reboot/s some(not all) of my apps are missing which I am pretty sure installed and check in app drawer.
