Got the RAZR M a few days ago and have really enjoyed it thus far. Within the first day, I rooted it and installed safestrap. For my first ROM, I decided to try the CM10 beta by dhacker29 over in dev. I posted this same question in that thread, but decided to put it here as well. Everything in the install process went smoothly: created and activated ROM-slot-1, installed latest version of the unofficial CM10 along with gapps, and then booted in to CM10. Everything looked ok, but all of the sudden the Android AOSP started force closing. Thus, I couldn't even login to Google to try to install a different keyboard. I tried wiping data in the keyboard app, but that didn't work. I also installed swype, but swype force closed as well. As a last resort, I deleted the rom, deleted the Rom-slot, and redid the entire process. Same result.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I had the same problem on a different ROM. I downloaded ki keyboard, then searched for the 4.2 nexus apk, and installed it.

Try this one. Let me know if it works

Installed it, and then I uninstalled the AOSP keyboard. Now the force closes are over, but I still can't type anything. When I click a text box, the blue cursor shows up like it wants to type, but a keyboard never pops up. Idk what's going on.
Wow... I never uninstalled the original. Just overwrote it. That wouldn't matter I don't believe. I'm sure you have force closed the app. I replaced the Android Keyboard. Not the Aosp. Make sure have you 3 different keyboard apks. If not, I'll post a link to the 3rd app.

Upon some research, many people are screwing their keyboards up with the wrong gapps package. Did you use the one in the same forum as the ROM?

After a year and a half of ownership, I finally rooted my DX today. (Well, I rooted it several months ago, too: the day before the Gingerbread OTA update...so I took that and lost root.)
I have CM7 on my rooted Nook Color, so I wanted to try something different on the DX; I chose Liquid (Gingerbread) 3.2. I like the ROM a lot, but no matter what I've tried (have spent the last 2 hours Googling and experimenting), I can't get the latest Swype Beta to actually function. It installs just fine, I can poke at it in the Keyboard option dialog, but it doesn't actually get selected.
So, first part of my question is, has anyone gotten Swype to work with Liquid 3.2?
Secondly, what Gingerbread ROMs do allow Swype Beta to actually work?
Thanks in advance!
Make sure the check mark is on the keyboard in
Settings>Language & Keyboard.
Then on any text-entry window...long press the window until "input method" comes up.
I've ran the Swype beta on liquid... No problem...
And you can get the beta to work on any rom...
If it's a rom with it already installed... All you have to do is uninstall Swype then reinstall your beta...
Maybe try clearing data for it if it's not selecting
We have nothing to feat but running out of beer
Yep, I have the beta. Nope, it would not work on Liquid 3.2, no matter where I selected it (there are at least 3 places you can enable it, and I tried all 3—several times!).
At any rate...got Vortex RC installed, Swype worked just great, and there are some things about it I prefer to Liquid, so I think I'll be sticking with it for awhile.
Thanks for the replies!
Depending on the ROM, you might need to follow the same procedures that are necessary to get the beta working on the stock ROM.

As I said above, I got it working fine in Vortex. If I hadn't, however, it would have been helpful to have provided at least a link to how to get the beta working on the stock ROM.
Tough to do through the xda app.
BTW, I got it working in Liquid.

So apparently since the new Sprint ROMs include swype, swype beta no longer works on the EVO unless I go back to a froyo ROM. However this version of swype that's available with mik g is horrendous. Any one know of a solution to this?
Thanks.
Which beta you using? And I'm using the latest Swype I think but not sprint installed.

just uninstall swype and swype installer, reboot, d/l the newest swype installer and you should be good
That works best. That's actually what I usually do..I'm just delirious right now.

Yeah, i found another thread on this after my post. I tried following the directions but neither the app or the lib file were in my system. I deleted things through titanium before searching and must have removed something important because when I reinstall I just get force closes on restart.
I'm using mikg if it makes a difference. I'm having other problems with this ROM so i might as well just start over. I used mik froyo for ever without problems. I had everything the way I like it. Then found out the details about carrier iq. Rather then try doing it manually I went for the new ROM.
Anyway thanks for the help sorry for the rant.

Install Jelly Bean 4.2 Keyboard from the market and use that one instead
I can't download from the market on account of I don't have a working keyboard. ill try downloading the apk.
there must be something wrong with gapps. it runs fine before installing gapps. after installing gapps i installed the keyboard but the rom is very unresponsive, the account setup kept glitching, couldnt get the market to connect to the internet, and the home button doesnt work. whats going on? would someone mind sending me a backup that is working and already has gapps installed or point me in the direction where i can find that.

I've tried a couple and the same thing happens. The one I've been using is gapps-jb-20121212.zip. I'll try again.
I'm downloading the one off of cyanogenmod website under nexus 7 grouper. I'm pretty sure I don't have the gsm version but I'll check.

Having the same problems. Would like to see an answer to this. I also used the files recommended by CM.
Went with SmoothRom(built off CM10) which had gapps built in and I have no problems now

What's the deal with cm development on this tablet. I even just tried to download the play store apk and it force closes.
Idk I am pretty dissapointed because I've always loved the CM ROMs but thats what XDA is for.

I'm having the same difficulty with CM 10 on a Sony Xperia Arc. Have tried multiple kernels (included with CM Roms, or not) and Gapps packages. If it is possible to load a stock or other keyboard after flashing a ROM, I'd like to hear about this.
Ughhh.... I uninstalled Apollo from CM10.1 which came pre installed in the gapps and I didn't want any of its bloatware so I uninstalled it with a Root Uninstaller- as soon as I uninstalled it my phone rebooted and is stuck at the CM boot animation.. This has to be like the 5th time my phone got f'ed up today. Wtf do I do now, I'm so fed up with Android nothing just works.... sooo many freakin issues

There's something else going on, uninstalling Apollo shouldn't do that.
Restore your previous set up and save flashing stuff for another day, you seem to be encountering a lot of issues today.

You definitely messed up installation somehow, or your DL was corrupt, etc...
Save it for another day, you'll have better luck.

I had FK flashed on my stock ROM before because I wanted nice colors *_* - I knew about that and it worked perfectly the first time
Oh and let me rephrase - I didn't know of any good ROMs... everyone talks about CM10.1 so I thought it was good
Damn, sounds like your one unlucky guy! Btw I dont think Apollo is in GApps.. It comes with CM

I would say try paranoid android.
Since your new and all. Its a great ROM to try.
Flash paranoid. Then paranoid GAPPS.
Very stable and customizable ROM.
I use to flash ROMs on a daily basis.
And has been satisfied with this ROM.

Yes I have the app also can you customize the quick toggle things in paranoid android?
OK I got paranoid android on my phone and kinda liking it but how do I resize widget like I could in cm - I was able to resize them however I wanted and on this its like stock that widgets can't do that
Research more, flash less for a while.
Apollo is part of CM itself and NOT in the GAPPs package. I delete it and have no issues doing so (I delete it BEFORE flashing the ROM)

Don't try to blame Android for your technical incompetence.
Before wiping everything out you could simply try to reflash cm10.1 dirty.

Hey guys,
Title pretty much says it, I have an S3 I9300 that is occasionally freezing for about 10~ minutes at a time. I looked at a few threads that mentioned that it might be bad memory blocks, but I don't think that's it since this only started happening since I flashed Omnirom (omni-4.4.2-20140518-i9300-NIGHTLY), I was previously using CM 10.2 and had no (freezing related) trouble with that. I can't reproduce the problem in any specific way, it seems to be random, usually after you try to make an action of some sort.
Is this a known issue? Would re-flashing it be likely to help? It's unlikely to be an app interfering, as this was happening before I even in stalled GApps
I was using the same omnirom in my S3 i didnt have any issues.. Before you flashed omni did you wipe data and cache?

Yup, formatted everything. It's really weird. I thought it went away after I installed super SU and updated the play services, but it's still there.
Maybe reflashing it would fix it.. What was the recovery you were using?

If reflashing doesnt work, turn off your S3 and remove your battery for about a minute. I know it's a ridiculous solution but i have seen similar problems in other forums and that worked for them. Tell me if it works.

I'm currently using CMW. I know that it's not 100% supported, so that might be the issue, but I am using the most current version of it and I know others have had success. I'm wondering if I don't have a dodgy mother board because I'm also currently facing a problem whereby sometimes when someone calls me, neither of us can hear anything and that was happening before I flashed the new rom as well (that was actually the reason that I flashed omnirom in the first place).
What I'm thinking is maybe I swap over to CM 11 and see what that does for me. What I'm seeing of omni so far, I like, but it doesn't have enough features for my tastes yet. I'll probably come back in the future either when it's matured a bit or when CM does sopmething silly with their commercialization
Cm11 doesnt have that much features though. Omnirom has some features that cm11 doesnt have. But if you like a little bit of more stability with simple features, then cm11 is a way to go
