Thought I would share this weird experience.
Today I noticed my Note did not emit a notification sound upon receiving text messages, WhatsApp messages etc. Did some testing and turns out no sound whatsoever from the speaker. No notifications, no ringtones, nu music, no YouTube, nothing.
Headphones worked fine.
Checked the settings: all okay.
Did a reset: still no sound.
Did a battery pull (took battery out, put it back in). Still no sound.
Did a 'long' battery pull. Left the battery out for a few minutes. Sound came back!
I have NO idea what caused this glitch, but boy, am I glad I have a phone with a removable battery.

I have had no issues until last night. I lost audio output when connected to aux in on CPU speaker system, have been doing that for 5 weeks with no issues. Tried headphones and phone speaker, nothing. Pulled battery and worked for a few minutes, died again. Pulled battery once again and seems to be working as normal for the remainder of my podcast. Anyone else have this happen, or any advice?
I lost audio during calls, could only use speaker phone. Had to have a replacement sent.
Only way to describe it. I have tried multiple sources (music, video, youtube, netflix, several games) and restarted the tablet twice. The sound from each speaker has very slightly de-synced itself or something. Im not sure how to describe it outside of everything now having a very clear echo. it seems the sound from the left speaker is just barely ahead of the right speaker. Also, sounds have become far more "tinny". This has only JUST started happening as of a few hours ago.
Ive had the tablet for about 2 months now and have never had this issue crop up before. Any suggestions?
minor addition since i found my headphones: this does NOT occur with headphones plugged in.
Edit: Little bit more testing shows that unplugging the headphones seems to correct the issue, but it re-appears after a restart. seams an easy fix, tried it several times during this 5 minute post interval. although i am hoping to find something that fixes it entirely.
Last night the loud speaker operated well (I watched youtube, listened to music etc...). Today I my alarm clock woke me up at 6:00AM, I instantly pressed "Snooze" for 10 minutes delay and that's all... no more sound after that - no music, no sound in video, no alarm clock signals... Not any single sound at all! Tried everything I could - restart phone, try to switch profiles, connect/disconnect hearphones, change volume levels on all channels... Useless. So I decided to send it to service center, but then - 3 hours later - the sound appears again!
I don't think why it happened (but I'm rather happy now
I use this phone less than 1 month and do baby it and therefore there is practically no chance of mechanical damage... More likely it is software bug....
Did anyone encounter something like that?
If I connect S8 to wired earbuds, I can hear the notification sound( music volume not reduced) but not that clear as the notification sound is mixed with music. This gets worse if S8 is connected to a Bluetooth headphone--I can barely hear the notification sound( sometimes notification sound is not played at all, I don't know why). I switched from iPhone 7 and found this pretty annoying. I missed a lot of notifications while listening to music over Bluetooth. Anyone know how to reduce the music volume on notification? I looked through all the settings and didn't find anything useful.
Thanks for any useful information!
I'm actually looking for this very thing. For me, no matter what sound device I use, wired, wireless, etc., audio ducking is way too annoying for notifications I'm not necessarily interested in immediately (e.g. Facebook group updates from groups I rarely visit).
Im bumping this up
I have a s8+ duos with similar problem. But only with Bose qc35.
If music is playing and connected with Bluetooth, no notification sound is heard. Music is only slightly reduced in dB for a second or two then back to normal.
With cable /wired, the notification is heard loud and clear.
This happened two weeks ago and was working great until then. Reset doesn't work. Have no clue about.
Same here
Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
I found a solution. For me at least.
Connect Bluetooth headphones
Reduce media volume to very low.
Keep notification sound at 25-30%.
Now increase volume on your headphones - if you can.
Try send a message to yourself or similar just to let you hear if the notification sound is heard or not.
.....
I also enabled dualsound and turned it off at the same time so Im not sure which of these settings that were the solution.
Try both.
It seems my bose qc 35 have different sound presets depending on which device its connected to since my sony phone didn't have this issue. Doesn't matter even if the bose where reset, downgraded or removed device list.
And this issue was only on a dualsim. Tested against several s8 and regular s8+. Very strange.
Unfortunately, my nexus fell into my tub, I quickly took it out in just about a second or less. I kept it face down for 5 mins before I did anything else. I tried playing music and all the apps including my music player of choice (phonograph) and youtube. I restarted my phone and tried again, this time everything "played" but I couldn't hear anything at all. I tried charging my phone and it didn't work as well. My cameras are also filled with the water droplets and my microphone, what should I do please help! PIC 1- Attempt to take a picture
Update: I dried up the port and not it charges.
Update 2: I was texting my friend and the notification sound worked for once! But soon after it stopped and I tried playing songs and as usual I couldn't hear anything.
Update 3: My back camera is starting to dry out, my alarm worked and so does all my notifications. I tried playing music and no luck. Microphone seems to be working. --P.S Do the notification sounds use a different speaker than the normal speakers? If so is there a way of re-routing this to the working notification speaker?
I remember reading someone else dropping there phone in water and the same issue for them loud speakers not working. Notifications probably coming from ear speaker. How's the battery ever thought of replacing because could also replace the damaged speaker.
