nexus 7 proud owner(NOW) - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It was two months ago when I bought my nexus, my first impressions was cheerful, but,as soon as it started a notification of system update to 4.2.1 showed up and hence my problems started,,,LAG,LAG,LAG, and crazy screen acts,I couldn't even complete writing a web address or read a page of a book,
Not alot of joy with updated stock even after a second upgrade to 4.2.2,,so I rooted added some extra utilities(seeder, lagfix) with no extra improvement,,,I falshed so many custom roms all were 4.2.2,,,,I changed so many kernels,,,,LAG HAS ALWAYS BEEN THERE
I suspected hardware problem, but I noticed the repetition of the complains in forums after 4.2,,,,,,,and the character of the LAG and screen flickers were not reproducible nor consistent with any specific hardware usage
so I decided to give 4.1 a try,and that was it,,,I got the image flashed it rooted added my apps, failed to disable update notification(I can live with that),,,,,,,instaeeld my apps and really just started to enjoy my ---now beloved----nexus
Rooting was a breeze with wugfresh toolkit
flashing was fun with jromflasher on linux
I learned alot aout ADB and Fastboot
and really tried lots of apps and roms
My nexus is back to mind and I'm proud of it

I thought about it this last weekend and I think I'll back to paranoid 2.54 which is the latest 4.1 build.

This is not Original Development is it?
General Section please!

This is wrong section to post a thread like that

Newbye questions

Hi all! I just purchased 4 days ago my nexus 4 16Gb
Im quite happy with it but here are some questions: I'm just asking them because probably someone else has already gone through the same doubts and probably has some more experience: This device's forums have the fame of being more polite and tolerant than some other, so I hope you guys give me some feedback
I come from SGSII - I have ben using CM9 and 10.0 until it got bricked on november 2012
In the moment i received the new phone, i unlocked it, installed CWM Recovery and made a backup of the original ROM, then, installed CM10.1+franco kernel (both nightly)
The questions I have are:
1: Perhaps the low battery life has something to do with the fact that this is my new toy and I cannot stop playing with it, but I'm thinking about trying official ROM+ root.... would this improve the battery life?
2: The camera has been acting weird a couple of times: Once, the image was flickering: a reboot fixed it.... and another time, when i opened the camera app, would get a black screen. Im not very patient.... so I restarted and the problem is gone... Would official ROM fix this?
3: Which features do we have in stock rom that are not present on CM?
4: On stock rom, can you Root/Unroot and then re-lock the phone as if nothing happened? ¿Do you lose data if you do so?
5: There is a lot of confusion about this: When you unlock the phone, the disclaimer says that process "MIGHT" VOID THE WARRANTY..... does it void it or not?, what does that "might" mean?
Overall, the phone is wonderful and I'm really happy, I'm just thinking about testing stock rom but I don't want to lose functionality...
I'm waiting for your advice.
Thanks!!

[Review] [Screenshots] Android N Preview First Impressions on Nexus 5X!

Hey Guys!
So people started pinging me late at night yesterday as I was the only one they knew having an N5X.
I had no idea why and apparently the N developer preview had been released.
First things first! Screenshots gallery!!
So I flashed the Android N developer preview. I then decided to write about the features and changes as I noticed them. I have summed up my experience so far (It is a bit buggy, since it is the alpha preview, but we make do just fine )
The link below is my blog post, I've written the review and whatever features I noticed and I'll keep updating it with any new features I discover (please mention anything you find).
Instructions for installations are also given for doing a clean flash according to Heisenberg's guide (thanks).

Upgrading Nexus 10 running Lollipop

This is my first post, hope you can help me :- Hope its in the right place
I have just acquired a nice nexus 10 and managed to upgrade it to android to 5.1.1.
I am a complete novice when it comes to anything to do with rooting or custom ROMs and have always been scared to tackle anything like this, but it seems a pity that I am stuck with Lollipop when my phone is showing me the benefits of the latest nougat upgrade.
So do I chicken out again or do I ask for advice from the experts in this forum to hold my hand while i upgrade to nougat ?
I see a post by Trafalgar Square "how to install android 6.0.1 marshmallow" and although I don't understand much ( at the moment ) about what the developer is telling me to do I think that if i could have my hand held with a similar GUIDE for Nougat then I think i would have the guts to have a go. I see a posts by Sooti who is advocating using AOSP [7.1.1_r4] ( Again I am unsure what he is telling me to do ) and without an absolute basic guide I dare not consider that.
So what do your experts recommend that I do ? Can I be helped ? or must I allow the general fear of "bricking" my device to stop me again as it always did before .
Must I be so afraid of bricking it or could I be helped to recover from a bricked device should the worst happen ?
Download the Nexus Root Toolkit by wugfresh. It makes rooting and flashing custom ROMs as well as custom recovery a breeze! Plus if you brick it, it's most likely going to be a soft brick (bootloop) and the Nexus Root Toolkit will easily fix it. (Trust me, I've been there a few times.)
If you'd like Android Marshmallow, I might recommend OmniROM, unless Lineage has fixed the battery drain issue. (CyanogenMod 13 was terrible on battery.)
Lineage 14 can be found around here which is based on Android Nougat. It's supposedly really fast and battery efficient. Though it has some bugs, most notably the camera is disabled because the camera server keeps crashing and kills the battery otherwise from what I understand. So if you don't care about a camera, Nougat is available, otherwise stick with Marshmallow.
Since I use my Nexus 10 for Skyping on occasion, I'm stuck with Marshmallow. If Lineage 13 has fixed the battery drain issues, I'd definitely be interested to know.
Thank You Rochester. As I type this post I have followed your recommendations and managed to root the nexus and installed busybox. I will now follow the next section and decide whether to choose nougat

Aye, no problem! I'm glad I could help, and welcome to the forums!
AgentOrange96,
I Chose the OmniROM route like you. Wugfresh has done a marvellous job with his Toolkit, and I will be saying thanks to him too !!!
I am all up and running now and my experiences with your forum has removed my fear of Custom ROM flashing and Rooting, so much so that my nexus 6P will be rooted and customised next.
Many thanks to you ( and Brandon your Chief Admin ) for welcoming me as a member !!!

Newbie here + require a fast updated rom to flash??

Hi all,
I have not been here in yonks but I know this forum is always helpful. I am trying to flash a slim updated rom on my old android galaxy note. Out of no where, so many of my apps on that phone stopped working and it kept saying, this device is not compatible etc. I tried all the tricks and still a lot of apps will not work.
I have Odin pro installed on the phone but I forgot how to use it lol so may require direct instructions. But can someone recommend a fast but small in size build to flash which is updated. It says on my galaxy note that it’s running 4.1.2 which is jelly bean. If I recall it’s probably a custom rom but it’s been so long.
Thanks I advance if anyone can help me with instructions, I know it’s easy to do, but it’s been ages.
Cheers [emoji106][emoji106]

I'd like to clean install my mi A1

Hi!
After a long time hacking my phone by setting up different kind of custom roms and kernels, I'd like to start from a fresh base before going to a custom Q rom
Indeed, I have some bugs that appeared through installs, like an echoing while calling or sometimes the network doesn't works anymore after ann accidental full discharge.
So to remove these issues, I think it would be great to reinstall android from the beginning, just like you do with a normal OS on a computer. Just wipe everything and clean install
I already did a few fresh installs by going from android 7 up to 9, just to be sure I didn't miss any firmware version, but I don't like the idea of installing something over bugs.
Thank you for your help, and sorry for the mistakes I probably did in my thread (I'm not a native speaker )
Firmware version
Well, it's been a few days since I firstly posted this (Happy new year!! )
I forgot to mention something: The main reason why I want to do this is because I'm not sure about my firmware version, nor if I installed all the versions properly as I don't understand quite well what happens in the memory while flashing something
