Proper Root Access? - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im running smoothrom 4.4 on my nexus 7 and when i installed titanium backup to backup my apps it said I wasn't rooted. I installed root checker and it says i don't have proper root access? I'm not sure how it says i'm not rooted when im running a custom rom.

Titanium backup problems

Anyone else having problems with titanium backup, i just updated it to the newest version, and now its telling me im not rooted no more? but the phone is rooted.
Are you running a custom Kernel? I just had this same issue yesterday. Let us know if you get it working and if you're able to restore backups. I got it working, but could not restore backups. I keep getting a parsing error.

Running superuser.apk?
Can you still get root from a terminal session (su)?
Are you using the latest busybox?
Have you tried letting it install its own app-only busybox?
All my problems I've had with TiB have been with superuser.apk and busybox.
Might not be permanent root then, check other root apps like rom manager or something. Parse error is prob the version of busybox you have, clic problems in tb, then download busybox from within app.
On stock rom/flash a rooted kernel, search the dev section and check again, the joeykrim root is janky

[Q] rooted now not

I unlocked then rooted my nexus 7 8GB. Mainly to access external storage. This I achieved and with stickmount was able to achieve the objective, reading from a usb stick.
I felt at the time that there was something wrong as installed app Titanium backup pro - but could never find it. though google still tells me it is installed.
Rom manager states I have ClockworkMod 6.0.1.0 & that 6.0.2.3 is available BUT after dowloading "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" an error occures.
I installed root checker pro. It advises that not rooted properly although busybox is installed correctly. Reports attached
I have both superuser installed at original root. Since also installed Super su, neither will install binary code.
Is there anything I can do to ensure I am rooted and stay that way?
Thanks for any help offered.
Easiest thing to do boot into recovery, make a backup always,do a wipe flash a custom ROM plenty out there
You may have lost your root, so try to reroot. As for keeping root, DL Voodoo OTA RootKepper from the Play Store. Works like a charm.

[Q] Lost root access?

I've been rooted and running Sacs ROM for a while now, but somehow I've lost root access. When I try Supersu it tells me "There is not SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it..."
I have been trying different ROMS and restored from a nandroid backup using TWRP. What do I need to do to get back root access?
Can you not just reroot with CF Auto Root?
Yes, I can, but I wasn't sure if that was advisable or not given that I had root access before and somehow lost it. In any event, I re-rooted using CF auto root and all is well. What I don't understand is how I lost root access in the first place.

No telling why you lost it. Did you take an update?
I know I updated to NC6, lost root, but re-rooting was not an issue.

Rooting lollipop LS980

I think I may have boned myself a bit. I had kitkat 4.4.2 stock rom rooted with stumproot, and I did the OTA upgrade to lollipop. Not suprisingly, apps that need root no longer work. I installed rootchecker and it reports no root access. I installed stumproot again and it says that the device is already rooted. When I open supersu is says there is no supersu binary installed and it cannot install it.
What are my options on how to re-root my phone?

Chainfire root j500FN root problems suddenly not rooted anymore

I got it rooted but just the first apps that required root got access granted now when i use root checker or want to use a root firewall it says it's not rooted. Root checker says its not rooted. But i granted 4 apps and now suddenly its not rooted anymore. How can that happen i even got superSU pro. Tried to root again with Odin still same problem. Only got the 4 first apps i installed that required root then its not rooted anymore.
