I'm in Estonia. Phone is N4 16GB stock 4.2.2, no mods/no root.
Have an issue with gsm radio.
When phone is active, then i have signal, I am able to call out and receive calls, BTW, calls don't drop. When left untouched for approx 10minutes it is cut from carrier. It does show the coverage bars, but when called in, then states as out of coverage. When trying to place call it hangs in dialing display. When trying to end the stuck call, it hangs on ending call display. Have tried different SIMs from different carriers, the problem remains. Only cure so far is to reboot, then i get next 10 minutes of service. Have restored to factory settings couple of times, tried without applying Google account. No luck. F***!
What to do? Has anyone faced similar issue?
Rolled baseband M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.48 back to M9615A-CEFWMAZM-2.0.1700.27, got longer usage time, radio still freezes
I get weird data loss too with 48, never calls though. I too prefer 27 as a result and that just works for me.
With 27 however your autofocus wont work anymore (camera) but since I don't use it that much guess that's not a biggie (touch to focus still works however).

I'm running CyanogenMod-4.0.4 on a rooted G1 on the Orange Switzerland network. Usually, everything is great...I love this phone and the CM stuff is awesome. But I've recently been having some trouble with calls not reaching my phone.
I noticed the problem for the first time yesterday, but can't be sure it hasn't been going on for a while now. If someone tries to call me, the call either gets sent straight to voicemail, or sometimes, it just keeps trying to connect and finally fails. Then again, some of the calls get through just fine. The phone itself had good 3G reception throughout the observed problems, and SMS and data traffic was working perfectly. Calls from my phone to others also worked all the time.
If I reboot the phone, the next call goes through without trouble, and I've also not had an established call losing connection so far.
Is anyone else observing similar trouble? Or do you think the problem sounds more like something on my providers end?
EDIT: Just something else I just remembered, no idea if it might be related: I also noticed an abnormally high battery drain today. Usually, once the phone is fully charged, the battery will last for a bit more than two days before it starts complaining. Today, about six hours after removing it from the charger, it was showing 20% charge. I recharged it from there, and it's been holding normally since then.
Not sure about the phone calls issue, but for battery life, have a look at Settings->About Phone->Battery Usage and see if anything is abnormally high.

Looks about normal to me.
Cell standby : 42%
Phone idle: 39 %
Voice calls: 10%
Display: 5%
And a bunch of small stuff.
Same problem today, have seen this on my stock G1, was the reason I did the rooting and went to JF, and now to Cyanogen.
I already re-installed Radio and HSPL, still same. Probably need today to wipe and reinstall ROM ?!
I'll keep you posted.

Do you have the Overclock Widget running on your computer ???
In the process of screwing around, I uninstalled the Overclock Widget, but also reinstalled ROM and Radio. Now everything seems to work again. So for the moment I guess the overclocker was the root cause. Will do some more testing.

Still having problems... Get voicemail if I call my phone. After reboot, phones answers again. Probably will wipe and reinstall tomorrow.

Same problem here.
I am having the same issues also. No appearant pattern to it though. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. My girlfriend has called me four times in a row, some of the times, it went straight to voice mail, othertimes it will ring (on her end) then go to voicemail. My phone doesn't even show missed calls. Text messages work fine.
Running CM 4.0.4 with Smorg White.

yeah i this happened to me yesterday. my phone would only ring 1 ring and then it would say missed call. since there are a bunch of people it seems like it could be a network issue and not the phone/rom.
I tried all kinds of stuff, but yesterday I figured out the following:
3G enabled and also connected to network via UMTS : Call goes to voicemail and I get a connection error dialing out.
Now switch settings to: Use only 2G. Effect: All calls (incoming and outgoing) perfect.
Very wired. So i guess it is a network problem. Can you guys try this as well?
I'm having similar issues.
Whenever I'm in an area that has HSDPA (3.5G) coverage, and my phone is constantly using data, the caller won't get connected (won't ring on his end nor on my end, and caller won't be forwarded to voicemail). I also have issues calling people, I would have to try calling the person like 5 or 6 times to actually make a call, I would simply not get connected, not even a ring.
If I'm in an area with normal 3G coverage (384kbps max DL speed), even if I'm using data, call WILL come through and I can make calls without problems.
On 2G, with constant data usage, phone calls would get forwarded to my voicemail automatically, so no unreported missed calls.
I'm not sure if this issue is specific to my network, but I tried calling my operator's customer support and they asked me to take my phone to its authorized dealer. I've been running cyanogens ROMs for a long time, and I'm still having those issues.
I know someone who has the hero running on the same network I'm using and is reporting similar problems.
I have seen it do this on stock, JF, the dudes, cyanogen, and now Dwang ROMS!
I have youmail setup to email me with missed calls, and every 10 or so calls will go straight to voice mail or I'll get a missed call on youmail, but not my phone never registers it....
I had called Tmobile Customer service like 6 months ago, even before there was a youmail App, (they didn't know what youmail was).....told me it was a youmail problem....
I am pretty sure its not a youmail problem, but I have no idea what in the heck it is..
Its happened once or twice (that Im aware of). Running the modded stock from here.
Also my notorious problem with MMS.
Not sure what it is. My real curiosity is if this happens on Moto Cliq and Droid. Really curious if these weirdo issues are HTC...G1...or android based.
A similar issue has been reported to google, please star this so it gets some attention by android developers. Missing calls and not get notified about them is a big issue for me.

I have a tmobile sidekick lx and it is doing the same thing. Does anyone know anything about that at all?
I've got some serious issues with my Nexus 4, I've found posts with similar problems but not exactly what I have. I'm at a loss what to do next so any advice would be much appreciated.
I bought a N4 around March this year, direct from Google, and connected it to TPG Mobile here in Australia which uses the Optus network.
It was fine until about the end of May or beginning of June where it started losing signal regularly. First thing I noticed is it would start dropping calls and displaying "No network available", the triangular status bar at the top would go blank (completely black, not grey) for about 30 seconds, then it would return to normal signal and I could make calls again. However it would do this every few minutes, whether I was on a call or not, and each time it would last roughly 30 seconds and then return to normal.
Around the same time I started to receive SMS on either a delay, or they'd arrive on-time, but then keep sending multiple times for about the next hour.
I rang Google, they got me to go through recovery mode, then it worked fine, for about 24 hours, before it started again. They sent me a new device, which did the same thing within hours of activation, so I requested a 3rd device. At the same time I thought it might be the sim card, so I got a new one of those too.
My 3rd device and new sim card worked perfectly for about 3 days then the same problem started. Factory resets etc seem to fix the problem for either minutes or hours, but never permanently.
Then last week I noticed further weird symptoms, I started getting the usual sms to say someone had called and left a voicemail, however my phone never showed any sign of a call (visual, audio or missed call in the call log). I confirmed with several people who tried calling me and they confirmed the phone rang on their end before going to VM. I tried it myself from a landline and it randomly rings or doesn't ring on my end, however I also noticed when I hung up on the landline without answering my Nexus 4, it continued to ring indefinitely, ie. it hadn't registered the caller hung up.
My provider assures me there isn't an issue in my area, my wife uses the same provider (with an iphone) and has not had these issues. I can't swap sim cards with her though as she has a full-size sim. I tried another sim with my phone for a few hours and it worked fine, however my phone with my sim will sometimes go a whole day without issues so it wasn't long enough to truly test it.
I've deleted all apps that might somehow affect it and the hasn't helped either.
Basically I'd like to know is this likely to be a phone issue, and I pursue the issue with Google, or some sort of network/sim issue and I pursue it with my provider?
Hello,
I have the Sony Z2 on Tmobile USA, completely stock (no ROMs, or modifications).
Approximately twice a day, my Z2 randomly stops receiving calls, making calls, and accessing the mobile internet. It still shows plenty of "bars" on the reception meter, thus I have no idea that I'm not receiving calls.
When it happens, this can only be resolved with a restart, or turning on Airplane Mode, then turning it off again. The problem will usually come back within 6 hours, requiring another restart cycle.
If I have WiFi enabled when this is occurring, then I can still access the internet via WiFi, but I will not get calls and text messages. I get no indication anything is wrong, until I try to place a call and it fails.
When this happens, the "Signal Strength" meter (under "About Phone", "Status") does not change, it would read something like -95 dBm no matter where I would take the phone (even in areas of poor coverage). It appears the phone simply looses synchronization with the mobile network, but doesn't notify the user. Other phones on the same mobile carrier continue to work perfectly at the same place, so it's not a mobile carrier issue.
I've had this phone for 8 months, and this is a new phenomenon.
This is Z2 model D6503 and I am on the latest firmware (Android 4.4.4, build 23.0.1.A.0.167). Sony support said "reset the entire phone", of course.
Please share any thoughts you may have about what could be wrong.
Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you!

Most probably random software issue. If you installed any apps recently one of them could be the culprit. Uninstall them or trying booting into safe mode and see if the problem persists with continued usage.
As a last resort you can factory reset the device using the PC companion. But since the lollipop update is round the corner wait for it and see if the update fixes the bug.
If a factory rest or firmware flash doesn't solve the problem its a hardware fault, return it and ask for replacement.
I know I randomly get data drops, but I always cycle mobile data off and on to fix it. Next time it happens, I'll try to make a call to see if this is the same bug that I've having.
Quick update:
Right before the problem started, I installed the current-as-of February 2015 version of Audible on my phone.
After I uninstalled Audible, the issue appears to have disappeared (haven't seen it re-occur yet). Bizarre, but that's the situation,
I've been using AICP for a while (Marshmallow), but haven't done an update in a while. By a while, I mean that I don't think I've flashed anything in weeks. Suddenly, I cannot make or receive calls today. Yesterday I made a number of calls just fine. I checked all the standard possible causes, dialer apps, default apps for phone, etc. After no success, I decided to flash back to stock.
Now I'm on stock 6.0. Same problem, cannot make calls. All I get is a screen which says "dialing" until it makes a tone sound and hangs up, never rings anyone. My phone never rings or responds when other people call. I do have full bars and service, and my APN is set up properly with AT&T in the USA. SMS and Data work fine, and so does WiFi. No other problems at all with the phone. I've had it for about a year and a half with no real hardware issues other than a loose charging port. No drops, no cracked screen or anything.
I'm wondering if anybody has a clue about what the problem with my phone is. I'm willing to generate and provide logs if there's a way to do that which could show the issue.
EDIT1: Derp, just tried the SIM in my girlfriend's phone. Seems to by my sim card. I'll go to AT&T tomorrow and report back here if the issue is fixed.
Last week I flashed the .23 firmware along with Santod's stock .23 ROM. Flash seemed to go ok, I did a full wipe prior and just set up the phone from scratch. Right away, I started having voice calling issues, both incoming and outgoing. Some incoming calls, though not all, wouldn't ring and I'd get notified of voicemail. For outgoing calls, about half the time the call would drop during the Dialing phase. For both incoming and outgoing calls, those that actually went through, quality was such that both sides couldn't be understood. A quick call back, and sometimes the quality was ok. (if the call actually went through) During this time, I also noticed that the phone was dropping to 1x during the call, and I no longer had working HD Calling to other Verizon customers. I thought it might be the tower I was connecting to, like maybe VoLTE was down, but the issue was present across town.
I tried redownloading (checked hash) and reflashing both firmware and ROM, same issue. I tried using the .23 RUU, same. I tried using the .20 RUU, same. While on .20, I took the OTA back to .23, same. I even did the RUU back to the last Marshallow ROM. When I did that, I'm having the same issue, except now I'm stuck on 3g instead of 4g. (still drops to 1x for calls, drops, poor quality) When that didn't work, I took OTA's back up to .23, but it's still stuck on 3G. Network Settings says LTE/CDMA.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to solve this?
I believe the only way you will get 4g back is to wipe the modems. This happened to me too.
From the white bootloader screen run the following two commands in adb
fastboot erase modemst1
fastboot erase modemst2
Hope this helps.
This got the phone out of 3g. It still drops to 1x for phone calls, though. I haven't had a chance to test call quality or see any drops yet.
Thank you very much!
