Bluetooth disables wifi - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm having a strange problem on my Nexus 4 phone. I have a Plantronics Voyager Pro bluetooth headset. It's one of the originals that only supports phone audio, not media audio. The phone runs pure unrooted stock Android 4.2.2. I'm currently connected to my home wifi network. If I make a phone call with the headset the audio becomes very choppy. Then the phone automatically disables wifi and falls back to AT&T's cellular network for data. After that the audio through the bluetooth headset is perfectly fine. Is this normal behavior? Is it not possible to have data over wifi while using bluetooth?

This is an issue discussed and reported humongous times. Hopefully Google will resolve it in coming update(s).

Intermittent Bluetooth/WiFi connection

I've been using the SGS2 for a good few days now and really loving it. However, I've noticed an intermittent problem with the Bluetooth and WiFi.
WiFi problem:
I have connected my phone to my home WiFi but sometimes it does not connect when I get in range or after turning on my WiFi on the phone. If I then go to settings and long hold on my WiFi connection and then select 'Connect to network' it will then obtain an IP address and connect. This is intermittent and doesn't happen all the time. I would say the problem occurs more than 50% of the time.
Bluetooth problem:
I have a Motorola S9-HD bluetooth stereo headphones. I mainly use it when watching videos and listening to audio books. I already have it paired so when I turn it on, it should connect and play all audio through them. When I click the play button, it should fire up Winamp and start playing the last audio file I was playing at the exact location it last played up to. The SGS2 sometimes fails to fully connect. I have to find the device in the Bluetooth list and long hold and then select connect to network. Again, this happens around 50% of the time. Occasionally, even when it has connected, it still does not play audio through headset (but the audio isn't even played through phone). Switching off headset and switching back on normally resolves it.
Both scenarios work pretty much flawlessly on my SGS1. Also, both Bluetooth and WiFi problems seem related as they are so similar.
Anyone else having similar issues or could explain why this might be happening on the SGS2?
Well, BT & WiFi both use frequencies in the 2.4 GHz range, so if you're using both simultaneously, they may be interfering with each other. You might try setting up your WiFi to use a different channel; your router's config pages should allow for that. Or you can use a 802.11a connection if your network supports it; that uses the 5 GHz band, so it won't interfere with BT.

No, not using them at the same time. I use WiFi when I'm at home and only use my Bluetooth headset when I'm out. WiFi is turned off on the phone when I leave home so it shouldn't doesn't interfere. The other thing is that everything works fine when I do the same with my SGS1 so the only change is my SGS2 handset.
If there is WiFi or Bluetooth interference then why does it not exhibit on the SGS1?
I did try rebooting the phone and power cycling the headphones initially but this didn't work. Strangely it all started working after a phone reboot and has been working perfectly since.

Bluetooth issues

I have the At&t Xperia Play, still completely stock, haven't had bootloader unlocked or installed any custom roms. Not sure if anyone else has been having these issues, I'm trying to figure out if my phone is defective or if the xperia plays have crappy bluetooth or maybe just the stock bluetooth is crap.
Anyways, I use my bluetooth to connect to the car stereo and stream music. The bluetooth on this phone never connects automatically. Sometimes it will connect for phone audio but not for media audio, I always have to go in and adjust it, or turn off bluetooth and turn it back on to get it to connect. Sometimes it just refuses to connect for anything until I turn bluetooth off and back on. My old Samsung Vibrant worked perfect, connected instantly no issues at all, even the Iphone 3gs had no issues and connected instantly. Another thing if/when the phone does connect, it takes awhile to connect, usually at least 30sec to a min before it connects.
Anyone have any suggestions or think the bluetooth radio on the phone may just be defective?

Nexus 4 won't route audio to Nokia BT headset

I use the BT headset Nokia BH-216 for incoming/outgoing calls while driving. Nexus 4 is not routing the audio to the BT headset for the calls.
This issue is seen sometimes. Sometimes the audio gets routed to the BT headset as expected, and I can talk freely on the headset. But few times the audio does not route to the BT headset, and in these cases I have to use the phone speakers.
Is this a known issue in Nexus4? My HTC Sensation never had this issue.
Note: I'm using the stock ROM and my device is up to date.

Deffinetly a known issue. A reboot usually brings it back online (for me anyway).
Hopefully 4.3 will address this problem

Bluetooth issues since security update

Hello,
I have noticed that since the security update I am having issues with my bluetooth. It will not automatically reconnect to paired devices like my car and headphones. Sometimes it will connect but the option to transmit phone/media audio is unselectable. When this happens, it appears to be connected, but the music will come from the phone, not bluetooth connection. The only solution I have found is to reboot my phone. Is anyone else having trouble with this? Totally stock.

I have been having the exact same issue and the only fix has been a reboot.

You're not alone. Seems there is a workaround.
I'm experiencing the same issue with any BT audio device it won't stay connected to my Android Wear.
What version? I'm on 25.211.1 reflashed modem and Bluetooth package things are fine so far.

WIFI issue when connected to Bluetooth 5 device

Anyone else notice the wifi connection suffers (eg starts buffering when watching YouTube or Twitch) when the phone is connected to a Bluetooth 5 device (headphones)?
My phone does this, as soon as I switch from WiFi to mobile data it's fine. Or disconnect the Bluetooth device it's fine. Also if I use an older Bluetooth 4 device it's fine. I've got two Bluetooth 5 headsets and they cause the same issue.
Just wondering if other ppl experience the same?
