you use a custom recovery, so you cant update the normal ota way... you have to flash the most recent androidversion by yourself.
Anywhere in this forum there should be flashable .zip's of this, elsewise you can load the official recovery from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images and flash this, using adb/fastboot .

just install this tool and get to the 1 click menu.
There you can install the newest update. But you will loose everything whats on the internal space. Its a fully reset to latest Stock.

I get this error too, but I already use the Nexus Toolkit to get to stock, flash cwm, and root. Also unlocked.
When I try to flash any ROM I get the Status 7 error.

AW: [Q] status 7 error

What method did you use to root? Have you confirmed your rooted? Are you using Rom manager or trying to flash directly through recovery? Dont mean to answer with questions, just trying to get a little more info to see if i can help.
sorry about that i did the 1 click root tried manual and rom manager
Sounds like you didn't install ClockworkMod. You need to install it before a ROM or Kernel can be installed.
cool where do i go to get the ClockworkMod firmware 2.1 update1 kernel ver 2.6.29
This thread should explain: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782300
U must have a computer and a usb cord. Download the drivers. Then flash clockwork its a method similar to the one click root.

[Q] failed sprint update

Hi,
I have clockworkmod recovery v2.5.1.0 and very little knowledge about modifying my epic. It is at version 2.2.1 Froyo.EB13
I get keep getting an update notice from sprint about once a week but the update fails every time. Output on screen is
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Should I be glad the update fails? Would I lose root if it updates? If the update is okay then any idea on how to make it succeed?
Thanks,
Robb
You can't install OTA updates on anything but stock recovery.
If you want the update, you either have to:
A.Flash EC05 through ODIN
or
B.Unroot and flash the update then re-root.
You are missing stock apps. Reinstall and it should go through. And yesit will remove your root.

Vipertouch update error

Hi i tried to update to vipertouch 1.0.1 via ota it downloads the update but when i click install it reboots into recovery and says: Finding updaet package..
opening update package...
Veryfing update package...
E:signature verification failed
installation aborted.
and i can't install the update please somebody help me
Bad download, check md5, make sure u are selecting right zip
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
If you look through the thread, there is a download link for the update, that's how I did it
The most probable reason you're having the issue if the MD5 checks out is that the OTA updater doesn't seem to work properly with it (I think that if you were using 4EXT recovery you would be okay.) However, that doesn't mean you can't install the OTA; you just have to find it and install it manually.
This post has the directions that, as I recall, worked for me (I'm not on Venom at the moment):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35645890&postcount=157
Get the update out of /cache, put it on /sdcard, boot to recovery, turn off signature verification in CWM recovery's advanced menu, then try flashing.

If you are on cwr the updater won't work. You either have to get ext4 recovery or go to the link below and download the update. Then you will be able to flash the update through cwr.

I have KRT16S installed, WiFi 16GB model. Thanks!!
Anyone?
You modified your system, especially the settings.apk and due to that the OTA is not working. Flash boot.img and system.img manually (if you need further instructions, you can have a look at my blog) to update your system.
