[Q] Canadian guys Please shows up!!

Hey guys, i assume that there should be a couple of you guys with the phone already, can you please describe us the accesories that came with the phone?
guys from UK told us that the phone came with a screen protector installed and a spare one, also a 16gb card, but others tell us that there were no screen protector and a 8gb card.
Please tells us how the phone came in the American Continent...

I came close..... I was at futureshop locally to buy one and they claimed they couldn't sell it to me until tomorrow. I showed them the release date online, they weren't convinced. Even showed them it on their own web site and that it was listed as available. They were nice enough to show me the box of one... I'm hoping to head back out shortly to different futureshop, which I called and was told they had no problem selling it to me today. Anyway, according to the inter webs we canadians will have an 8 Gb card only, while the Arc will come with the 16 Gb. I'll hopefully report back later with full contents for you.

Just got home and started charging it. I'm about to go online and buy an unlock code now. I hope to have a youtube video posted on how it's done. As far as accessories go, all I got were a pair of crappy ear buds. As far as the card goes, I didn't check it. Got it this morning. Only 8 gb. Comes with screen protector installed and earphone, cable and charger, no case. Can't disable auto brightness. Paid 20$ and got it unlocked for telus, everythings working fine so far. It takes about 1h to xfer all the crap to a 16gb card (there's a lot of crap, images, html etc). I'll try all the emulators later.

can you check if yours came with the screen protector installed, as the other post mentions?
also i bought one from ebay this morning (the last one of 3) the description says it was from Rogers, but unlocked, so i guess this guy use this codes before ship it...
But will confirm once arrives...

What service did you use to get it unlocked?

mobileincanada. Reliable and fast. Used it a few time.

Also can you tell us how much did you pay for it?

Just bought an unlock code. Paid $20. Hoping it works. I'm also going to post a video to erase any skepticism people may have about doing this.

Paid 0$ (a friend renew the contract and trade it to me). FPSE is just SPECTACULAR! Way faster than my T9193 or Dell Streak. Only thing is the screen auto-brightness, as most of you know. Some games just look too dark (Diablo) and needs a fix brightness, or a color adjustment inside FPSE.

Yes the gamepad works great. No success with the analog pad so far. I'm sure FPSE will enable it soon. I'm surprise it's a lot more responsive than I though seeing how people complained about the CPU. Unless the Rogers model is different which I doubt...

Yeah, the phone seems pretty snappy to me overall. Honestly though? I could care less about any minor issues. The fact that this has a slide out gamepad is enough for me to overlook any minor flaws. MAN I'm psyched to have this. Just waiting on my unlock code right now.

Got mine as well. I'm impressed by the smoothness of th UI and the quality of the screen.
I was wondering if any of you had weird behaviors with mp3 files and non stock headphone... The ones supplied are the worst piece of ?'*-) I've came accross in a long time. That's my only complain though.

Sorry I said there was a screen protector. It looked like there is one underneath the protective plastic they put because there is a trasparent material on top of the screen but it might be the design. Just in case someone is not careful and treat it as there is one.

Guys I need your help. Can anyone hold the search button and plug it the usb in a computer while it's off. People are telling me I should get a blue light in the power button but I get nothing! Instead it just shows the sony ericsson lego then the status of the battery. BTW I do have a Canadian xperia play but this one I won.

I'll try when I get home. Search the forums carefully, because I remember someone giving very specific instructions one how to get that blue light and he did it slightly differently. Maybe search "blue light search button" on the Xperia play forums or something, you'll find it.

Picked mine up last night. I am pretty sure that is a preinstalled screen protector we are seeing. Too bad we didn't get the extra one in the box some people have reported. Also only an 8gb card for Canada.

From what i've seen on some unboxing videos. Some people even got an extra usb cable and a free usb car charger.

Should I buy nexus 4 ?

Hello ,
I am thinking of buying the nexus 4 . I love the nexus devices , i have nexus s and 7 .
I don't know if it worths buying it or i should wait till the next model come out .
Is there any other device in production that is better ?
Please let me know your opinion .

The phone is low cost and amazingly fast. Go for it. I got mine from a guy at work for $100 and I love it. It never lags or slows down at all. You won't be disappointed.

You can wait for the next nexus, but also keep in mind that it will be sold out very quickly , and you'll have to wait again.. I'd say you won't get your hands on one before dec/jan . so you do the math.

Whether or not to buy a nexus 4, if you want a serious answer you might want to consider to not post it in N4 section.

I'd wait for the new Motorola phone, if everything is just a buzz, I'd def get the N4..

Get it if you need a disposable phone. Otherwise save for something good.
And don't buy an N4 while travelling (as I did) because chances are you'll need to RMA it and dealing with LG directly is not fun.

Speaking of the S4, Last week I was at the mall, at one of those Zagg Kiosk cuz I was going to get an Invisible Shield put on my Nexus 7, but I declined, but he was showing off his Galaxy S4, which seemed pretty nice. Bout 3 days ago, I stopped back by to get the invisible shield put on my Nexus 4 (I could do it myself, but they do a pretty good job getting it on).
After he was done, I inquired about the S4, seeing as I was deciding between a Nexus 4 and something like that. And he mentioned he no longer had his new S4, it was having too many problems and was buggy so he took it back and got an iPhone 5 (eww in my opinion but... interesting that he only had the S4 for a week and decided to take it bag for being buggy and unresponsive).
He did mention he would have gotten an Nexus 4, but he wanted to have something that day, and outside of T-Mobile (which he doesn't use), the carriers did not carry them (otherwise you'd have to order online).

It's an extremely thin, extremely durable screen protector that supposed to be pretty much invisible. I've used it on my old iPod Touch, and had it on my Desire-Z for over a year and a half without any problems, and I'm currently using their HD version on my Nexus 4 which retains a glass-like surface and actually seems to improve the color/clarity on the screen.

It can be a chore to apply, so I usually have the kiosk in the malls apply them for me (But they can cost upward to 15$ more than you could order them online just for them to do it). Though I had a more expensive "Write Right" brand protector on there that the t-mobile store put on, and it wasn't even close in quality to the invisible shield (so I took it back to the t-mobile store for a refund, and got the invisible shield instead).

Course bear in mind that my opinion is of course going to be bias'd by the fact that I actually have one . I own both a Nexus 7 and a Nexus 4, my mom owns a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0" which she's content with (she likes the Nexus 7, but wanted a front side camera).
I mainly got the Nexus 4 because for a fully unlocked phone it was inexpensive (plus T-Mobile allowed me to get it at 17/month for 24 month, rather than paying up front for it, so I see it as paying a 60$ interest on a loan that I just pay off each month).
Also like the Nexus 7, the N4 is nearly impossible to brick, easy to unlock, easy to root, comes with a clean AOSP rom already which also has a strong developer community, and because I'm planning on writing android apps down the road I figured what better choice of a phone.
Also The nexus 4, like the Nexus 7 will most likely continue to get android updates to the latest version for the next 2 maybe 3 years since it's made by google (as I recall even the original Nexus One can still officially get Jellybean on it straight from Google). So being able to use the device with the newest android update for the next few years without having to wait on the manufacture to decide if they will was also a plus for me as a developer-oriented buyer.
(HTC kind of burned me on that last bit with my Desire-Z, since the DesireHD was supposed to get 4.0.4/ICS but last minute they pulled it from the list of devices that was getting it, but least quallacom came thru and thus why we have so many jellybean roms for the desire-Z now).
The main two things I would want from the samsung side would be
1) Removable/extendable battery
2) microSD slot.
The one thing I don't like on the samsung... propriety USB/Power cable, why can't they just use microUSB or miniUSB like everyone else... but then again they do tend to mimic Apple to some degree.
#2 isn't as big a deal for the Nexus7 because I can just plug a thumbdrive into it via a USB-OTG cable, if for some reason I needed to copy something or perhaps play a large movie off the thumbdrive). Also the TWRP recovery natively supports USB-OTG so when I do a backup or restore, it can do it directly to/from a thumbdrive, without having to fill space on the device. Nexus 4 can do USB-OTG too, but requires a Y-split cable so you can plug up a portable power pack, since it won't provide power out of it's USB port like the Nexus7 will

I like all the advantages of the nexus devices . I am also starting to develop apps :laugh: see at the signature.
I have an incline on nexus 4 , but I must learn when the next one will be released .

I am in a serious dilemma
I was anxiously waiting for the New Nexus 7 dubbed as Nexus 7 II. I was waiting for it like anything and checking it daily for months if anything new came up about the device until yesterday, it was officially announced.
However, I am very disappointed. The disappointment is not because of the device but due to the fact when it will release in the UK . I sold my nexus 7 first generation last week and my xperia so I could buy New nexus 7 and a new phone. Well, I love the new nexus but the problem is it won't release in the UK till September. I was expecting it to come to the UK the same week as it happened last year. Now without a tablet n a proper phone (using HTC incredible s in terrible condtion) I feel terrible. Hooked to technology and couldnot stay without it, I am not sure what to do.
To make matters worse, I be travelling to Malaysia/Thailand on august 9 and I won't be back by December due to some assignments.
I ask for suggestions what should I do.
I am going to get a phone for sure tomorrow so phone wouldnot be a problem.
My plan was to get a cheap phone and a Nexus 7 2 so I can manage between the two. One has to be cheap !
Hear are my choices, but if you think of anything better, please do not hesitate to reply.
1) Get a normal android phone for about GBP 100-150 max and get a cheap tablet and wait till December till I buy a new Nexus 10 or Nexus 7.
I personally like 8" Tablets. Will there be an 8 incher by then?
2) Get Nexus 7 again and wait till 2014 to buy a third generation. Would it live long enough to see Key Lime Pie ?
3) Get Nook Ebook Reader, the simple touch, get a better phone and just read books till then and use my phone for all the stuff.
4) Get a flight to USA, get two nexus 7 2, come back to the UK and then travel to Malaysia. [I wish I could afford such a lavish trip ]
You can understand how much I am willing to get a new Nexus 7 but at the same time, the disappointment of not having it till next year is killing me. I am just thinking of getting a Nook ebook reader and do everything else on my phone.
What do you suggest !!!
EDIT : I got my Nexus 7 and the sad part is , the top speakers do not work In another situation, one after another

I'm sure you can order a new Nexus 7 through a third party online.

Buy a used nexus 7 they are super cheap.

I checked third party sites which are giving out nexus 7 2 in the UK. They are taking 300 quids for 16 gb model which is very expensive. I guess I will get the old one used !

hello again all of you,
for the price of nexus 7 2012, i was getting nexus 2013 in US through a friend so i skipped the old one and asked a friend to get it for me. now the problem is that her littler sister's coming who is only 12. her mom agreed to put nexus in her suitcase but the girl wont have any handcarry luggage. Now i m a bit uncertain again as i checked drop test video at youtube n few bumps wont turn new nexus 7 on. I know the aircarriers usually don't care about fragile stickers and throw things around? Thus there is a chance i might get nexus but not in working condition. So is there any way to make it shock proof?
should i go ahead n pay the 270$ price tag or wait. I have to sent the money to US so please reply quickly. thanks alot in advance

I personally wouldn't trust it in a bag with no proper packaging to secure it from bumps and bruises so to speak.

Leave it packed in the box and wrap it in bubbles, it will be just fine. And put it in between some clothes in the middle of the suitcase. Or the girl can take it out and carry it in her pocket as her personal device.
When you think of it, delivery companies don't usually handle packages very well, and stuff still comes trough okay. Also whole crates of N7s travelled by ship from china and they are still fine.
I ordered a cell phone from amazon recently, there were now bubble wraps or anything, just an original box, wrapped in amazon carton, the phones box had some bruises, but the phone itself is fine. That was only from italy to slovenia but still.

The nexus has been bought and it is arriving in a week now. So this is all decided.
I asked her Mom to open it and check for any defects in case any just to be on the safe side. Moreover, the girl is 11 or 12 so giving a device in her hands is a bit risky. Bubble packing makes sense and I already had thought about putting it in between clothes. I hope someone else tags along and can put it in carry on luggage. I will specially ask for bubble packing and keep it between clothes etc though.
In past, I have carried my devices(phones in socks,boxes etc) in plane for so many times and I never had a problem yet, once i bought a toy for my brother and it was in my luggage and it was slightly damaged/broken from its side however I was manage to fix the tires back(Big monster truck about 5 kgs)
Nexus has more weight than a normal phone and also it's very prone to drops as i saw the video on android police or android authority.
That just terrifies me!

Everything is fine, it came just fine and she just brought it without even opening it.
I had a faulty speaker though which started working on its own after some heavy gaming (Heat required for flux to melt a bit I guess )

How much can I get for my N4?

I upgraded to the OPO near the end of October and my Nexus 4 16GB is just sitting around and not in use.
This is aimed more at UK users.
It is in excellent pristine condition (no scratches front or back as they have screen protectors) and I have included loads of accessories including cases and spare screen protectors.
I have advertised it on a local selling page for £115 and gather some interest. I am wondering if you guys think this is an acceptable price?
I have taken a peek on eBay and seen one going for £150 and the bid hasn't ended. But that is the only exception I can't find others.
Should I expect more for the phone? Or should I sell it at this price?

Just had a quick look and £120 seems the average. £150 is high and I don't think you'd get that.

Should I just go ahead and pull the trigger? I will miss the phone had some fond memories with it, but it doesn't have much use now.

Personally, I think you'll get nostalgic and regret selling it. Use it as a test mule for ROMs for your OnePlus One, since most ROMs available for for both. And it never hurts to have a back-up phone. Or something smaller when you don't want so large a phone (is that a OnePlus One in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?).
Sell it if you need the cash, I guess, but unless you're short on January's rent, my advice is to hang on to your Nexus 4.

I've kept so many handsets, just in case, then regretted it later when they never got touched, but it's your call mate. If you have a buyer lined up, I'd got go for it.

I pre-ordered mine on the 7th through sprint's website. I got the black version and I'm planning on getting the smart watch. If the Micro SD card offered anything significantly different I would have done that (as it is valued more) but its only slightly faster and I don't need that much storage. Already been looking at accessories like chargers and cases! Getting excited! Its a big move from my Note 2

Thanks for asking... I've decided on the Fit2. Had an early Gear watch, but didn't think much of it, so I ended up giving it to one of my nephews. Hopefully the newer wearables have more functionality (specifically for golf, like a Garmin). Way I see it, the sd cards are fairly common, and I have a 128GB card with room to spare still. And I went with the Silver Titanium... kind of a timeless look IMHO. Although the blue and black both looked pretty nice. Especially the blue, which is a nice sharp look for it. And the black is another classic look which never gets old.
Have you decided on which freebie you want yet?

Same here, coming from the Note 2. Absolutely LOVE that device. Had a chance to try out a Note 4 a couple of years ago when I thought my Note 2 went bad (actually had a battery issue) and wasn't very impressed. This is the one major downside I see for the Note 7 - embedded battery (knock on wood).
Either way, I am totally stoked for this device and can NOT wait for it to arrive... (and the subsequent dev for it too).

Hopefully the bootloader isn't locked, but it sounds like it probably is. I'm sure we will get root, the only question is when.
Cheap case/screen protector along with SD card I ordered are arriving today, so I'm all set. I'll get a good case and hopefully a tempered glass protector once the device has been out a while and we know what's good.

Anyone know if choosing standard shipping instead of express will make a difference for pre-orders? I didn't see that express was free so I picked standard. My order page says pre-orders will ship by the 17th so I'm not sure

My pre orders with sprint have always been the same. They ship it 2 days before the release date if they have full stock. Nobody is getting it from sprint.com before the 19th. They even put on the label to deliver on the 19th hence this is why they ship 2 day mail.
Sprint has always been the same with these having at your door but the day of release not a day before no matter when you ordered.
I got a cheap case as well should do the trick and will get the 256G card

Hoping it comes early my birthday is Friday and that would make a great bday gift. I'm probably going with the card, because I'm waiting for the gear s3 announcement. Maybe sprint will offer this one on the lease plan. Already have the supcase unicorn beetle pro and spigen neo hybrid crystal sitting in my drawer. I'll get the defender once it comes out, hopefully soon.
Signed up for AMZ review trader and have an iq shield tpu screen cover coming for free. Signed up for a few other cases too, just waiting to get approved.

I never rooted my note 5 (first Android phone I never rooted) I was really hoping samsung pay would support my bank and still nothing. I just didn't want to lose that feature if and when I was able to actually use it. I'll probably never root my n7 unless I keep it for more than a year and my bank still isn't supported.

Ordered mine on the 3rd through Sprint customer service. Got free shipping and no activation fee being I've been with them for 12+ years. I have a Huawei watch but think I am still going to get the Gear 2. Also picking up a Ringke Slim case. It protects all the edges but feels like the phone doesn't have a case. Pumped too as I have had every Note since the Note 2. Note 4 probably is my favorite so far.

I'm thinking the gear fit also. My wife is going with the card I think.

I know it can take take up to 3 months, but when I got my note 5 I got the wireless charger promo and it didn't take that long. What are the odds that two note 3's would die, in a month from one another? I really liked that phone, and after losing my Note2 in a rogue wave, I got a pair of Note 3's off ebay, in Mint cond. I didn't wanna buy used again, so I got a Note 7 on the payment plan... I too bought a cheap all in one case (360 degree protection, for under $9?)... then I won't feel so bad, when I get the phone, and I'm disappointed when this (almost $1,000 device, after sales tax!) doesn't multi task (IE: won't surf, while on a call, like Spark, and successor to Spark... "enhanced LTE" It's not in my area, when last I checked, so I'll be looking to buy a new, in the box Note 3; the most advance non-Spark device.

how excited will you be if you can't use web, or text, while on a call? If that happens, I'm returning mine, and buying a new note 3 or even new Note 2! (Won't buy used... maybe refurb, by factory)
