Rooted...so what can I delete? - Continuum General

so I am running GB 2.3.3 and I have rooted access as well. My question is what and where can I delete from the verizon bloatware? It runs alot faster, but I usually only have 40mb of ram free. I notice a ton of background services. I don't want to kill it so I just need some guidance. Thanks in advance.

there is a list of froyo apks that txwolf kindly put together, sear his posts. There is a lot more in gb I found that is crucial to running.

Managing Memory

I am trying to work out what is using all the memory on my Magic 32B. After rebooting I am left with only 15Mb which is causing it to run dog slow.
After rebooting I notice that apps I hardly use are running and consuming memory;
MP3 store, facebook, Tunewiki. Those together are using nearly 10Mb. Can I stop them running at startup?
What is the best application to use to manage RAM?
I cannot understand why there is so little RAM available? This device has 192MB? As I have moved my Apps2SD can I reallocate space from internal storage to be used as RAM?
How much free RAM should I be looking to have in order for the phone to run fast?
Should I be looking to use a Swap file? I have already moved by apps to SD...
Sorry if i am asking stupid questions. Relative Noob to Android

First off, if you are rooted you should format your SDcard. Second of all what ROM are you using if your not running stock.
I am running Cyanogen's current rom 4.2.13
I repartitioned my SD card to use App2SD. At that time I was able to reallocate space rather than format.

Samsung Apps- memory hogs

My I9000 is very laggy. Not always, just most of the time.
Closing com.sec.android.app.samsungapps.una & Daily Briefings with TasKiller gets me back around 30 MB, available memory now back around 60MB & phone now useable.
I've found a couple of samsung apps in system/app, SamsungWidget_WeatherClock.apk is 8.9MB, I think that's the culprit. How do I stop it running? Do I just delete it? (I'd probably copy it to the SD card & backup just in case.)
Are there any others i should get rid of/prevent from starting?

I use LauncherPro so I don't (can't) use any Samsung Widgets. However, I was using touchwiz for a while, I didn't have many memory issues with it. If the widget is running you can just click and hold the widget and move it to the trash, you don't need to back it up (it'll still be installed). There are many other things running that the Samsung TaskKiller doesn't pick up, that said, Android from what I read and see myself doesn't need much more than 30-50mb free at any time (though when I'm going to start surfing and doing a lot of activity I do try to free up around 150mb, just incase) and if you happen to push the boundary it'll free up memory for you.
If you want to be able to kill more tasks get ATK (advanced task killer).
After what ive read android dont page memory the way computers do, when it runs out of working memory. Reason is lack of memory i guess. But with several gigabytes of memory in internal storage, whats the problem?
With winmo I had to share working memory with installed software (if not installing on sd).

[Q] iconia tab amount of free ram is too little

i thought honeycomb tablets have 1 gb of ram ( ~770 in reality) so I thought I would be multitasking quite well. But my icona usually have about 200 ram free when I check it in a task switcher. I hear other people with other tablets have more than 500 mb free or at least near that amount. I rooted my tab and deleted some system apps that I don't use so that they dnt run in the background, but still my free ram is very low. Just to let you know, I have about 2 pages of apps in my app drawer with all the system apps such as gmail included. I don't think that's too many.
Will installing a custom rom fix this issue? Any help is appreciated!
---------- Post added at 11:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:41 PM ----------
and I would like to know also that installing a custom rom will make this tablet faster when switching between apps. It becomes very laggy sometimes doing that. Also right now on stock rom, I sometimes have even around only 150mb free ram. That's like 256mb ram on a smartphone..
Might want to use Advanced Task Killer By reChild
It was the only way to keep 300 ram free.. i would love 770 free
Lets see IF they ger windows 8 tablet edition on here.....How much would we have....1/16 of 1gb xD
yea the maximum I get is about 350mb after killing all the tasks. At the very first right after killing everything, its a little bit more than 400, then it keeps decreasing because of the closed services starting to run again. I once saw a video review of touchwiz on galaxy tab 10.1 and in the task manager, the free ram was over 600 out of 7xx. I couldn't believe it. Of course nothing was running, but when mine doesn't run any apps I have about 350mb. As I said I dont have that many apps..I didn't want to install custom roms and wanted to keep mine as stock as possible, but IF a custom rom will help will free ram issue, I am willijg to install one. Or if there is any other solution, please let me know! Oh and right now, I have a gmail and a web browser with 1 tab open, and I only have 264mb ram left. Please help if you know how to solve this issue..
Androids memory model causes it to cache very vigorously. The amount of RAM free is pretty much a worthless number because the system automatically relaxes the cache when the system is lower on memory, so programs don't get rejected RAM requests.

Yea I know about that, but because of that, multitasking is not really good on this tablet...I really need help on this issue..

There is no issue here, it's working just fine. If it didn't cache anything, then it'd take 30 seconds longer to load an app. As I said, if your system is low on ram, it'll automatically release as much as required to maintain the system from the cache. It's not causing any hit on multi-tasking, in fact, it helps keep the programs loaded and in cache so they switch faster.
I think you are saying that android system kills the app that's not as much used that's running in the background, so that the system cannot run out of memory. If you are really saying this, I already know it.. or maybe you are saying something different. What I'm saying is that BECAUSE the system kills background app to run a newly opened app if memory is too little, when I reopen that killed app, it has to reload again, and that affects effective multitasking. If it kills the browser, then all the tabs has to reload again, and it's so annoying..I have to have browser with 2 to 3 tabs, a dictionary, pdf reader, word document, and sometimes more, and I thought with 1GB RAM tablets, this would be easy to handle. If there are about 500 MB RAM free when nothing's open, then it could be possible to use all those apps without any one closing due to low memory, but I only have about 350MB free when nothing's open. I prefer not to install custom ROM, so I rooted with 'Iconia Root' app, then deleted some bloatwares, then unrooted again with the app. I thought this would help a lot, but it didn't..I probably didn't uninstall all the system apps that's useless. I don't know what AcerNidus (I'm not sure if this is correct) is, and some other acer apps that I should keep and I should delete..I would like to keep receiving updates, so I shouldn't delete something like system updater, but I don't know what else I should keep and delete. Thank's for trying to help me though. If anyone know, could you guys tell me what system apps should I delete, so that I will have the most free ram, run smoothly, keep getting acer updates, an not void warranty? Thank you so much!

[Q] I wanna free my Ram a bit

how can I ?

No point
Android will free ram if needed and ram cleaners and anti-viruses often mess this up

]May i ask why you need the RAM? Its android operating system after all if program requires more RAM the system will free enough. You have 1gb free which is more than enough. If you want to free more install some ram killer/cleaner like Clean Master,or uninstall some apps that you dont use. cheers :highfive:
thanks for answers
but it's about the battery, I wanna keep the phone on as much time as I can without needing to charge it
and I thought that all these running apps are consuming the battery and reducing its lifetime
Actually, having apps in the RAM saves battery. It's more battery-consuming to have to read the apps into RAM every time you want to use them. Better have them preloaded in the RAM and always ready-to-use.
They aren't 'running' in the background, but more like 'hibernating'.
If you really want to make sure no apps are consuming data and such in the background, then use Stamina Mode. Also checking which apps are allowed to automatically sync data is one way to go.

Custom rom with less ram usage and/or better management for my Moto G4 Plus 32/2 ?

Hello,
I have a Moto G4 Plus XT1642 32G/2G.
Some apps are closed automaticly when in background or when my screen goes on standby (podcast app for instance...).
I set them to "no optimize" in battery optimization but it doesn't help.
I have a lot of apps installed and i think i have just an insufficient ram.
I'm doing a little clean to try to resolve the issue but i'm asking myself if a custom rom could help ?
If yes, do you have one to recommend ?
I would like a very stable one with no random reboots, and a good working of my two sims and my 128 GB microSD card. I don't need special features. Usually i liked roms like LineAge OS (it was Cynaogen when i used it on older phones) or Slimroms...
I have actually the stock rom Android 7 and it is quite stable. I have about once reboot once a 2 or 3 month.
If i with to a custom rom i want to be sure it worth (stability and better ram usage for my issue with closing apps), because i have a lot of stuff to reinstall if i flash my phone...
Thanks
Bye
Just passing thru for old times sake, I haven't had my mg4p in a while. It looks like there are at least two ROMs that have been updated fairly recently, but they both appear to suffer from freezing issues. 2GB RAM is pretty minimal now a days. You can partition your SD card to increase RAM if you're rooted. Trouble is magisk can't hide your apps anymore, so you might have trouble with banking apps and such. But if that's not a concern, root your phone, try any recently updated custom rom installed with pico Gapps to keep things minimal, install the apps you want. Or if you don't have paid apps, install custom ROM without Google (gasp), and use aurora store to get apps. That's what I do with a different phone, and I get by just fine without Google. Either way look for guides to partition SD card for increased RAM. Or shop around for a g4p with 4GB RAM. Good luck.
Thanks for all you explanations.
For now, it seems that my cleaning has helped a lot : uninstalling or disabling all unecessary apps. I hope it will be sufficient. Since i did it, i didn't have background music or podcasts apps closed by force
Bye
