Dear XIAOMI MI 2 Users,
I know that we are very small community that have this phone , and from some reason , xda won't listen to my request to open to this extreme phone forum schema like the others for itself, so i need to post it here.
i know that everyone will want this
CWM For Xiaomi mi 2
I saw this post on Miui Australia, i can confirm it's working
http://www.miuiaustralia.com/?p=1030
to easy flash it , (because for me miui recovery wasn't let to flash it) recommend the following steps:
1. download the recovery from that post
2. connect your mi 2 with usb to the computer
3. extract the zip archive to some folder, so you will have the recovery.img file in that folder to flash using fastboot later
4. open cmd and use fastboot to erase the mi2 recovery (need to be erased!) using that command
Code:
fastboot erase recovery
5. use fastboot to flash it like that:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
you will see flash ok
6. reboot your phone to recovery (Hold power button + vol up) - you will get into cwm
7. now navigate using the vol keys to reboot system now, it will ask you if you want to disable recovery flashing, hit yes - coz we don't won't to let the miui rom to overwrite it with it's recovery again.
8. njoy
Credit goes to M1CHA - the man who compiled it to us, he is the man
BTW I will be more than happy if you guys will push xda to open forum for this phone too , it will be easy for us
yours, deliad
Thank you for the tutorial. I will try it out. I also truly wish there will be an official xiaomi forum available here.
One question: If I flash the cwm and then flash the OS (i.e, MIUI V5) afterwards, will it erase my cwm?
There is a lot of details here: http://miuiandroid.com/community/threads/2013-03-24-clockworkmod-recovery-6-0-3-0.19686/
With MIUIAustralia shutting down, don't know how up to date that page is compared to this one.
There will never be a forum here for this device or any put out by this company. Their stealing of code from the CM team and closing the missed source up is not what we want here. Not to mention their lack of ability to follow the GPL laws makes sure they will never be welcomed here.

I know the Xiaomi history and company is following their own "code path" since MIUI v4 (which MI2 was based from start).
So again, please show proof for your "theory". Words, links, pieces of code whould be good.
And let me remind you that you also have Oppo Find 5 forum:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=2155
Take a look at their system UI, which is taken from Xiaomi MIUI phones. So maybe you also could block Oppo Find for stealing UI style and code from Xiaomi?

Even the wiki states it is based on CM sources. But even beside that fact. They are not GPL compliant and until they are they will not have a place here.

Wiki? Lol. Yea... Lets believe on everything wiki says...;p
MIUI v5/v4 is not based on CM sources. You have old info.
But I agree about GPL (some aspects...). But also OPPO didnt want to public their kernel sources, which they did recently... And what about Oppo non public aapt sources?

Oppo is working hard with the developers. As can be seen every where. The wiki was just the one I cam across first.
MIUI has no respect here and until they start giving back to the community instead of just taking from other developers then they never will. And until they follow the GPL no device forums will ever be here. I am dont arguing about this.

There is no kernel source code there. it is only the patchs for makeing ports.
This recovery works very well and is tactil!

We will see what happens. They have alot to make up for, This is a step in the right direction for sure. There also has to be enough development to need a set forum for it. Only time will tell if they will make up for past sins.

@O-T words I am not claiming anything , check your facts and come back
https://github.com/spegelius/android_device_samsung_jactivelte/blob/cm-12.0/cm.mk this is how I found it in @spegelius and cm does it ., BTW the value isn't important because it adds a check in updater script to determine whether this is a gs4 for sprint or gs4 active .

Despite English is not my native language I usually spell and construct grammatically as best I can to avoid misunderstanding. Sorry if that single word offended you.
Also sorry for not including fancy words like dude, bro, man, guys, lol, rofl or more of this kind.
In respect of the person who is addressed I will not fall to the level of calling anyone dude, bro, man or guys when male/female is unknown.

Thanks for this ROM. It works like a charm for an early build and I'm expecting the next updates will be better. Good job to OP and everyone that worked together. Just to report that NFC isn't working but I hardly see it as a problem since I never use it anyway.
EDIT - Enabled ROOT from the Developers Option but how do I get SuperSU works here? Or do I even need one? Thanks

@ mauk - I've had a run in with @O-T before - It seems to be a serial offender when it comes to flaming people - There are only so many times that you can use the excuse of something not being your native language. @ O-T The sensible way would be to ask someone who has english as a first language to read you posts first.... that way any unpleasantness can be avoided - If you want to PM me your posts I'll check them over. As for being called dude - as far as I'm aware it can be non gender specific term - so no offence caused there!
Thanks for the sharing! But I'm gonna wait for the OP to fix this issue in the future build.

MOTOROLA UTILITY BY THEREALDUFF1
View https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DdZhVae_p0 to see how I created this program !
Please like and subscribe to my youtube channel to encourage me to create more tools for the members of xda ! I really really appreciate it
This is a GUI based program, which I have started programming in python.
Unlike other tools, this one is specifically made for the Motorola G3.
This entire tool is foolproof, so if you think you may brick your device when flashing TWRP, or stock rom by typing the wrong command, this is the place to be!
All of the tools are included in the program, including the TWRP.img file, and ADB and Fastboot tools. The Motorola drivers are inside the zip, so you don't have to go searching for them !
I have updated Motorola Utility, to be able to work with marshmallow perfectly. V6.2 is uploaded now and is avalible at http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=17073
Lollipop Version Available In Downloads Section !
Features
-- Marshmallow Compatible
-- Moto G 2015 Specific
-- Roots Your Device
-- Flash TWRP
-- Flash Custom Roms ( Coming Soon !)
-- Flash Stock Rom
-- Safely Upgrade Your Device To Marshmallow (Coming From Lollipop Or Marshmallow Custom Rom)
-- Push Modded Zips To The Device(Coming soon to Motorola Utility Marshmallow !)
-- Lock The Bootloader
-- Troubleshoot Your Device For Problems (Currently In My Beta Version Of The Tool)
Information
This program is currently stable, and only finished and beta features are in the program.
If you would like to contribute to this project, feel free to drop me a message, or email me at [email protected]
In one of the comments, I have posted a screenshot of the program, if anyone would like to see it running

If it does , please to reply with your opinions on the program, as i would greatly appreciate your opinion. Open toolkit.py first, as that is the main program
Please take into account that this is a very early version of the program , and does not include all of the features in the description. This is a start point !
I am also 15 yrs old, so I have alot of time on my hands to work on this

The download link is up. Good job bro!
Very nice job dude... This was the application I eas waiting for... But does it unlocks bootloader?
Will you be able to root by booting to TWRP vice flashing boot to the G3?
Congrats with an end product. ?
I understand the handiness of such tools, but I've never been a fan of these GUI tools. Ultimately, the tool ends up coddling the new user and allows the lazy, support leech-type users to remain lazy and not learn what they're really doing.
Look at the support threads for Wug's Nexus toolkit as a great example.

I understand where you are coming from completely about lazy tech people , but this tool is intended for people who don't really know what they are doing , or don't want to risk bricking their phone in the flash progress.

I mostly agree, I appreciate that someone makes a tool like this, especially a 15 year old, but a certain niche of people are going to require being spoon fed even if the answer is in front of their face. I've said all along that a large majority of the people that have to get the latest Android and root it are doing it because everyone else is.

By the way , you might want to put the adb and fastboot tools from version 1 of my program into version 2 , if version 2 is what you want to use . sorry about the problem , I just forgot to adb and fastboot in the zip

Excellent idea!!
I am scanning roms for viruses to see what hits what. After some suspicious activity on Ressurection Remix Official, i got worried.
Method:
1. download rom
2. use python script to extract img
3. extract img file.
4. upload apk files methodically.
5. report results.
I am just starting so will upload images as i make them. please be patient.

A device that holds most of my sensitive data is not something i just "ignore."
If i only find PUA hits, it's likely nothing. but it's a little suspicious.
Then keep your bootloader locked and stay on stock rom.
Firstly, viruses on linux are extremely rare as there isn't a big enough userbase for the devs of these things to bother with, secondly the rom is built from source, which means the developers would have to have intentionally added a virus to it unless you download from an unknown source that might have injected something into the package, this is highly unlikely as many eyes are on the code and it's publicly viewable too and the source links given in the rom threads are from the developers' sites or from AFH.
It's highly unlikely is the gist of this.

That's why I always recommend to use Roms that have their source code available, people not uploading their sources online can't be trusted in my opinion no matter what they say.

I have alreaydy had security issue while using a custom rom (i won't drop name), i think it's not wanted by mainteners, but there is so much tweaks on some roms like RR that the probability to get a security issue is finally quite hight, virus can come from an apk too.
And the virus scan detect only some virus, but not back doors ....
Keep in ming you won't never be safe using custom rom / root / unlocked bootloaders .... but most of us don't care, i dont know if we are right or wrong....
StatementService.apk is part of Android since MM. If you honestly believe it's malware you need to switch to an iPhone or downgrade to Lollipop.
In all my 7 years dealing with android...I have never ever seen a virus on my phone. I've flashed more ROMs than I've had hot dinners. Like everyone said, if you're that paranoid....Turn off all your electronics and wear the tin hat jokes aside.... You give Google more info than you realise, it should be them you need to worry about.
I was just going to ignore, but I have to ask because you specifically mention my rom. What exactly was the "suspicious activity “ that you encountered on my ROM, Resurrection Remix?
After you make a statement like that I hope that you have something more to say than all those " security " scans that you keep posting.
Again the only reason I'm responding is to ask specifically what was the "suspicious activity “.

I wouldn't worry dude, hes probably getting false positives (And isnt fully educated on custom roms etc) - we all know rr sources are online so people can check themselves....plus we all know that none of the rom makers on xda would willingly add viruses into their work.:good:

virus's don't always show "suspicious activity"
I am not trying to cause any rom to be ignored, or not used. My point is trying to figure out security. I HAVE NO DOUBT that you would NEVER put a virus in there. Since roms are open source, anyone could commit a virus and no one would know it.
I'm only doing scans, as ive never seen virus's pop up in android before, and just want to get the truth for all of us.
djsubterrain said:
Firstly, viruses on linux are extremely rare as there isn't a big enough userbase for the devs of these things to bother with, secondly the rom is built from source, which means the developers would have to have intentionally added a virus to it unless you download from an unknown source that might have injected something into the package, this is highly unlikely as many eyes are on the code and it's publicly viewable too and the source links given in the rom threads are from the developers' sites or from AFH.
It's highly unlikely is the gist of this.

agreed on the linux bit, however android is the most popular used portable OS in the world. and china builds half or more of their roms.
To think that android virus's don't exist is just naive.
The real question is not whether there is a virus, but rather why some rom apk's flag as a virus, and another nearly identical rom doesnt?

The real question actually is, as long as you are so concerned and eager to find an answer, why don't you just contact the experts of that website and keep us updated?

The suspicious activity was system level apps asking me for root priveleges. NEVER have i ever seen that.

Isn't that a good thing that apps are asking for root privileges ? Rather than having full privileges !!!
Apart from that, you should stay on stock ROM with locked BL as that might give you some peace of mind.

*The kernel is open source as per the GPL agreement.
I don't get why it took them so long.
Please note when you build, you need to have your ramdisk available to get a flashable boot image.
Easiest way is backing up your current boot in twrp, unpack it using Android Image Kitchen.
Copy the built Image.gz from kernel source.
Place it in the split_img folder created when unpacking with AIK.
Take note of the zimage filename (usually boot.img-zImage), delete that file and rename Image.gz to the noted name (boot.img-zImage).
Run the repack script and flash image-new.img in TWRP.
Finnaly we will see some custom kernels.
Now waiting for ROMS ?
Finally, waiting optimize kernel
Hope removing Hard-cording connection to BAIDU-HK.

I appreciate the enthusiasm, but this thread was in the wrong section.
Should be good now.
If cameras are degraded I'm not interested. Can't believe I'm saying that

thank you!
hopefully devs are now more inclined to develop for the mate 9.
this phone has so much potential!
I hope someone makes a power saving kernel, because Anandtech highlighted the high power demand due to the GPU http://www.anandtech.com/show/11088/hisilicon-kirin-960-performance-and-power/5
FINALLY!!
I've tried severl times my self but with without success...
Hope we can finally build LineageOS :victory:
Edit:
Here´s the new Link:

Mate 9 Pro: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/opens...Type=openSourceSoftware&pageSize=10&curPage=1
My Mate 9 is a sold source. After 5 months i had enough of the update politic from Huawei. For sure the Mate 9 is a great phone but that's it :good:
Great news... But Opensurce codes not include drivers !
Code without drivers is noy very usefull...
I think is a Huawei's strategy to keep calm moodders ...
Dear All,
This morning when i tried to restore deleted photos from my A2017G (AEX 5.8 nFound Latest Treble ROM) because i accidentally deleted some important photos yesterday.
These are my spec:
- A2017G 4/64
- AEX 5.8 Treble by NFound build date 20180812
- Kernel Schwifty vR3+
- Magisk v16.7 (1671)
-- GL Tools Module
-- Magic Charging Switch Module
File recovery app:
- Disk Digger Pro File Recovery build date 20180805
I found some recovered photos which i never took with my camera or screenshot, and by the look of them indicated that they were taken silently by system (please notice there is no statusbar on the pics).
Can anyone else confirm my findings? Is it possible that the custom ROM itself does this or other software? I never installed any malicious or unknown apks on my phone but XDA Labs Apk and Magisk Modules.
Attached are some of my proofs (recovered with Disk Digger Pro), there are more but some of them are private whatsapp chat session and my contact lists.
Please be advised, this is a pure Q&A post, i never intended to accuse any developer of any ROM or Software regarding my findings posted in this post.
Any chance that recovery app showed original location?
do you need the file recovery app pro version to check? Root or standard scan?

Does the free root scan work? Or is there a free alternative that works? Don't think people will buy the app just to test this.
Can you tell us in which folder these screenshot files were placed?

free version is working perfectly for photos/videos, as long as you gave it root access.

they were "deleted" and the recovered files show no original name/loc.
For the time being, I move to PixelExperience Treble GSI.
I just hope and pray everyone else's data and privacy is safe using any custom rom out there.
Seeing similar screenshots here on Kranoner's last RR-O. My system has a lot of mods, but yours is clean right so it's not likely our apps or mods. I checked there's nothing similar on my Sony Z3C L14.1. Could be from custom bootstack or recovery. More likely it could be from closed ZTE code in drivers or bootstack. Easy way to narrow the cause to being proprietary ZTE code is running complete stock with root for awhile to check if it occurs. My ROM is B32 Nougat source with it too (though I think it has some Chinese B10 source mixed in looking at github), so can run B32 stock to check. Some screenshots are saved as 1440 while some as 720 resolution.
It will not look weird if this is true.ROMS from axon7 are maintained by someone from an "unfriendly state"
Moderator Edit: Please avoid being TOO explicit in your opinion on fellow earth-dwellers... I've edited the above. Thanks
Well this is strange then. Someone else mentioned the same Disk Digger discovered screenshots thing in the Moto G5S Plus forums earlier this month. Lluvia ROM. Wonder what's going on here.
I reckon it's time I examine my stuff on both phones.

That has got to be the most idiotic thing. So you're saying "they" (Kranoner, NFound, WesTD, et al) are subversives? Secretly and purposely grabbing goodies from our phones for some nefarious purpose? LMFAO.
Sure it's not beyond possibility but still...
That can be the case with anyone, whether they're flying the Red, White & Blue or the sickle and hammer.
Since a big chunk of ROMs are built by folks from around the world what are you gonna do. Start vetting devs to find out what their views are regarding the US/West before flashing ROMs. We really don't need that kind of thinking.
ZTE Axon 7 A2017U, AospExtended v4.6 ROM, LlamaSweet 0.5 Kernel, microG (NoGapps), Multiboot, XDA Legacy

ZTE, a government audited company from China recently got whipped by the USA for breeching privacy laws and providing equipment to Iran and you are worried about Russian and Turkish developers?
Do you realise that the Turks are big allies of the west? They fight with the west against trouble in the middle east.
And what connection would a developer have with any politics anyway?
Who says developers dont work in secret for the government? but i say crazy things fast lol,but not impossible. What else can the problem be?Google sources?

I would try that recovery app but how could I trust that app, not being malicious?
Can't find anything helpful about that app dev.

You can twrp backup first, test and restore after. Keep net turned off all the while or use a firewall.
edit: to external card to not lose deleted recoverable images
Im not saying the developers are,but ther governments. But probably im wrong lol

What directory did you find these in?
I got one better, was trying to download one of the HellsGate Kernels on my computer and Chrome won't let me download it due to a Virus detected and MSE quarantined it. I tried two different mirrors and same thing. Could be a false postive after reading about it but just want to let people know about it.

Report says it's a Win32 trojan. Don't think that applies to an Android kernel build file. Probably false positive
