Everything is in the title, maybe it's the stupidest question ever, but I really don't get it !
Sorry for my English.
Thank you guys

Occam is the board number/model
Mako is the product model
Sent from my Nexus 4 @1.67 GHz on Stock 4.2.2

Does that mean some Mako's are not "Occam" ?

Occam is the software, Mako is the hardware.

N7 build numbers

Hi all I have x2 Nexus 7 32gb versions.
The old one came with build JRO03D and the new one came with JRN84D.
When I updated the new N7 to Jellybean 4.1.1, the build became JRO03D, question is, which is the newer build number ? I thought it was the JRN84D as it was the new Nexus batch that just got delivered.
cheers
JR003D is 4.1.1 where as other is just 4.1

If you mean that you need Official Stock 4.3 for Nexus 4. That is not released yet. There is a system dump extracted gmillz in Android Development forum you can flash that, else you have to wait. Please post the question in general category.

Wrong! You can download the official 4.3 rom from googles devs servers..
To just awnser ts.. You can just use the normal toolkit from mark (mskip) .. You will get a warning that the img is not in toolkits database..
My gnex is running it sinds yesterday..

I've heard of these things called adb and fastboot, they are really not that hard to use or learn. If your a Linux user its as easy as just downloading the SDK.

[Q] Why do developers use JSS15J as base instead of JWR66V?

also, what are the differences apart from the compilation number?
JWR66V is the main.
JWR66V is full of bugs but JSS15J is much better, stable and got better GPU speeds within the kernel but the reason it was not released for the Nexus 4 is because it was suppose to be for the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 7 itself has that update anyway.

Yep, unfortunately if you want fully stock then that is not really an option but you can look in the development forums for the perfect one for you, there is literally more then 1 available.

root nexus 7 with stock 4.3

So i recently bought a new N7 and i was searching for a good rooting guide on rooting but i couldn't find any.... So can anyone give me a link to a guild(i would like a simple and easy method) to unlock bootloader and flash recovery and root my grouper please.......

2012 or 2013 model. You say new but also say grouper so just trying to make sure you know what you have as many people are clueless. If 2013 you need to go to that forum if 2012 do an actual search query for rooting a nexus 7 it's a common topic. Many people want to use tool kits to do it but it is recommended you read up on fastboot and adb in the event a problem crops up it is easier to fix.

can u link me to a detailed stepwise guild to do so?

Rooting for both devices takes 30 seconds to do manually with the same steps except the recovery image.

There are these things called stickies. They reside in the top section of each forum. You should read some.

He said w/o GApps, but I'm pretty sure KOT isn't AOSP, so I'd say use Rastakat because that's pretty much stock AOSP

Hmm? He specifically asked about KOT49H, unless I can't read. Maybe the question needed to be rephrased?

I was kinda unsure because he said KOT49H AND AOSP, which isn't really um possible xD
But I suggested rastakat because it is aosp and it has no gapps, but if you really want to, you could probably download the KOT49H Stock ROM from the android development section and then unpack it, remove gapps and all its libraries, and then cook the ROM with Android Kitchen.

I don't think he'll want to do that for some reason. It's definitely a viable option though.

Yeah, need rephrasing. I think he meant just a stock 4.4.2 without gapps. No need to concern with kot49h cause that is the build number for stock 4.4.2 and stock 4.4.2 is indeed aosp.
