i only just got this handset and the first day i had it i had decided to root it, (on v10e-SEP-28-1012) and afterwards the phone was unusable, would boot into OS then just say sorry HOME application has crashed constantly, i couldnt do anything with it. so i sent it back and got it replaced, and now would like to root but am a bit worried about doing so. any pointers would be handy. its alot different than my previous Galaxy S i9000 as i have no clue on how to go about safely rooting. and also if i have any similar problems how hard is it to reflash the stock v10e Australia ROM
no-one?
What procedure or method did you use? As far as I know petroscu method will work with V10e.
You can try this method, even though it states for v10k, but the procedure will work almost kind of version and country.

when i did it i used the easy petroscu method. the other method looks too difficult to attempt. i also tried to root this morning with the same problem but was able to reflash v10e to fix it. it does root, and i am able to use it for a time, then it goers haywire and stops working so im thinking maybe the v10e australia firmware doesnt like root?
I cannot answer you that since I'm not a dev and we have different phone, mine is a p705g from Canada.
About rooting, the link I gave you is the most effective guide of rooting to almost all kind of android phones. Yes your right it's a little bit complicated.
But if you have doubt in doing it, you can try to pm some the devs here, like petroscu and xorox and ask for advise.

so i started to root with that other method but i got up to the part where i put system.img.ext on desktop and the next steps *(sudo mkdir /mnt/system/ etc...) i dont understand i typed what it says but it tells me sudo is not recognized as an internal or external command? i dunno it seems way too complicated, i may just try using v10c europe open and rooting the easy way and hope that works... was going to try v10i as its newer than c but i cant download it from firmware site

sudo is a linux command. so you need to have linux system to perform the steps. if you dont have one and would like to perform it inside windows then follow this guide how to install cygwin.
try this site to download the firmware here.
or you can try this rooted europe open v10k here.

will try flashing that modded v10k first then maybe try that linux thing, if not i may just give up on rooting as it seems very difficult compared to previous handsets i've owned

@joomlad; if you still haven't successfully root and flashed your phone try this guide here. Its already rooted v10k, w/ unlock bootloader and cwm.

i had tried that modded v10k and it works fine now, but upon seeing that pre rooted, cwm bootloader rom i am thinking of using it as there is headroom for any custom roms that are released in the future. thanks for all your help

I can not seem to figure out how to root my phone. I read everything I found here and I can not seem to understand. Excuse the bad English language.
The easiest way is to flash via Odin kernel from CF-ROOT
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Just find the kernel for version that You have and flash it
No I can not find it? This all confuses me?
Probably You have a branded version of the OS (modified by gsm operator)
Did You think update Your OS to stock version (KI3 for example)?
If you just need root and you're not confident with flashing a kernel, [30/OCT][ROOTING/UNROOTING] Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit [v1.0](zergRush Exploit) might be your best choice.
However, if you do decide to root by flashing a different kernel, see [GUIDE] And then there was ROOT which is an insecure version of your kernel (XWKDD) for use with SuperOneClick.
So i can update to any kernel? Its ok?
Not sure why you're asking that based on what I wrote, was something unclear?
You can either root using the first link (zergRush exploit) or use the insecure version of your current kernel from the second link along with SuperOneClick. I wouldn't recommend just picking a random kernel.
How about update to stock version? Like KI3? Or something?

Make up your mind.
I still do not know how to do it and I tried everything to read and understand ... There is no bad intentions in this, just do not know what to do.
Then I would suggest you simply walk away and don't attempt to root your phone. Two people here have already spelled out to you exactly what you need to do, and also linked you to a wealth of information. I can't see it getting into much more layman's terms.
Hello all, I did a quick search and did not find an answer, so I apologize if this was asked already. This is sort of a 2 part question.
First, I wanted to try out the official 4.4 on my D801 so I used THIS file to update without loosing root access. The only loss is it takes away your TWRP. Is there anyway I can get a recovery installed so I can switch between stock and custom? That would be awesome.
If its not possible, is there a way for me to downgrade so I can use ROM's again? I know its easy with a .kdz on a PC, but unfortunately (I really mean it, this sucks) I have a mac.
I really appreciate any help!
Thank you!

edit- here is another way to downgrade (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2625044) which some people have succeeded with the best of luck

Hey! Tomorrow I'll be receiving a new LG G2 and I'm wondering what's the first thing I have to do in order to root it.
I always used HTC and Moto devices so I have quite an experience in unlocking bootloaders, but in the guide for rooting I red here, your don't have to unlock the bootloader or anything like that in order to root it, is that right? Is any step I should do before trying to root?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi, You have to know first what model and what version, KK? or JB?
After that, if is on KK use this Towelroot (just search forum)
All the credit goes to @geohot for amazing root by just an apk
1. Install apk
2. Make it rain
3. Phone will reboot
4. install Super SU from play store
5. Sit back and relax
For TWRP use this How To Install TWRP Recovery On LG G2 Running Android 4.4.2 Kitkat
Hope this helps

Hey, I have a D806 model. It's with JB and when I hit the manual update check it says something like "Device not registered yet".
What's best to do? First update and then root or the other way round?

Well, first of all, after you root, NEVER take an OTA update or you'll brick. That being said, although the previous way mentioned is easier, I'd suggest getting used to adb and its miracles. Check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48709232&postcount=869 for a guide on how to root with adb. Adb is very useful if you screw something up.
As for the order in which to do things, it's basically up to you. I believe the 806 is the same as the 802, so check that section out for stock ROMs and such, especially if you root first. It seems like you may have to update manually either way since you get an error while trying to OTA update.

Hey, I've already rooted it using adb. I thought I'd be fine with some Xposed modules, but I couldn't find many for the G2 so I think I'll end up installing a custom ROM based on KK stock, but since I'm in Jelly Bean I don't know how to do this (read somewhere I should flash a baseband of KK or somethings like that and got really scared haha)
Hope you can help me!
EDIT: Downloaded the Kitkat baseband and CloudyG3 ROM. I don't have TWRP because I can't find the file for D806. I'd appreciate if someone could guide me to the right direction!

Wow you learned a a lot quicker than me and I've been on android since 2012
I have an A500 that currently has stock android 3.0.1 on it. I've rooted it.
I would like to install OMNIROM 4.4.4
What do I need to do? I can't find any useful instructions. I've read things about unlocked bootloaders ( is mine unlocked)?
Can I please get some simple instructions on what to do.
thanks!
Same problem here. BTW, what's OmniROM, can you give me a link?

You must install skrilax_cz patched boot loader to flash any custom Rom. To do that u need to retrieve yr cpuid and since you're running honeycomb atm, it's easy to do. So do it right now b4 attempting any thing else.
Run "adb devices" from a command prompt and it will give u a number, everything after the "0x" is yr cpuid.
See the guides in my Sig, start with the cpuid guide if anything isn't clear ask there.

fisrt off i want to say i didn't made the root for this model , the root of this device is already available on xda
this is the original post on how to root your lg g4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/...-tmo-vzw-intl-variants-soon-root-lg-t3164765/
now i'm just going to tell you what file and commands you must use in order to root the h-815p
now first get the International H815 10c Version pre rooted file and you also need the International H815 10c Version commands for that , again all the commands and files can be found in the original post , no all you have to do is just to follow the steps although it says its not compatible with the h-815p don't worry it will work i've tested it on a few h-815p models and so far there was no problems any way , PLEASE DO THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK just because it worked for me it may not work with you
and also a spacial thanks to all the developers on XDA for making it possible
if you have any questions let me know
Excellent tutorial,
But i was wondering what if i don´t want to flash my lg g4, instead i want to use another easy way like one click root. im a newbie rooting and don´t want to mess up my G4. Is there any tool to root it?
androidphoria dot com under desarrollo/root-lg-g4, explained it (in simple Spanish steps) but as a newbie rooting i need to know if this really works too. And as i mentioned i don´t want to mess my G4.
Thanks in advance xda-developers members!!!

I could be mistaken, but there are no one click root methods out. I have checked out the supplied link and seen the page for the one click root and it personally looks malicious to me. You could always sandbox the application and scan for viruses to verify it's authenticity.
Not sure rooting one click tool
Hi, ive already downloaded it and scan with A V G Avirus and noting happens, not threads founds. one click has a support list but there is not LG G4 in it, although it says that the list is not complete and rooting my phone maybe works, as a non harming tool i must test the rooting step, but still not sure. So, I´ve been looking with others like frama root, srs tools this last one has a support list but when you click on it, doesn't works. frama root (apk) never try, and there is another one, towel root. I googled little bit more and read that lot of users root s4, and s3 with it. These methods works in apk file. and except srs tools. iroot a Chinese version for pc and apk for cel, is anorther one. But still dont know if i try, i just barely bought the G4 4 days ago. And every blog i read, i saw to read xda-developers infos. maybe im wrong, but no body here mention rooting with one of those one click rooting tools. As newbie i cant post urls vid from you tube rooting with one of them. I dont want to try rooting my g4 if here in xda-developers, i dont get clearly what to do In very simple way for me, a newbie.
Again, thanks in advance

The methods posted here are pretty easy to follow.
The key is to read them completely, every single word, without skipping any.
Asking questions if you do not understand the instructions before you attempt to execute the steps, not after.
There is no one-click root method for the G4 right now.
Good luck in your choice.

Still looking a one click root for LG G4
As I said, I´ll be patient, but still looking for and found another one click method, it is Root Genius, but never try to root my g4. I know all the effort made by those here doing a Root for the LG G4, that really works and it is mention step by step in the original link post above described. when i said a root in a simple click is cuz its not familiar or easy to root for me as newbie. One click rooting for me is like Towelroot, unlock root, super one click, iroot(former vroot) kingoroot, framaroot. Again thanks in advance.
I am currently on V20d can I still use this method or should I downgrade first.
