i am using ONE X, and then i got a RAZR HD
i didn't like it that much; besides the AMAZING download speed
(4G that's without a doubt, and 3G is also great reach 25Mb~30Mb of speed)
but performing wise... no, it is not faster than Quadcore phones.
so if you haven't but it, try S3 the LTE version (I9305) which has 2G of RAM (don't get the wrong one)
that I9300 also just piece of crap LOL

if i get to choose? Nexus 4
please correct me if i am wrong,
that Nexus 4 it's Quadcore 1.5Ghz Krait
and
RAZR HD only has Dual Core 1.5GHz Krait
performance wise, Nexus 4 is definately much better
Nexus 4 also comes with 2G of RAM
the only down side of Nexus 4, it's that 16GB of ROM and not expandable
please ref this page for more comparison info
(i am too new to post outside links)

I rolled out 3 new GS3 4G's at work. They seem nice and fast, but I'll never get another Samsung after my current GS2. Only thing leaning me towards the Razr HD at the moment is the battery life. My GS2 is sometimes dead by lunch and I'm just not sure if the Nexus will make it through a big work day.
Razr HD with CM10-11 would be amazing!
Oh and has anyone found/got a good case? I would be keen to find a flip case to protect the screen as well.
Can any aussie telstrs here upload the stock telstrs firmware, jelly bean or ics?

I really like the nexus 4 but 16gb is not enough since there is only about 12gb of internal space, then there is the Galaxy S3 but don't like it's polycarbonate casing because I currently have a Galaxy S2 on a Telstra plan and it's materials feel cheap but the Motorola has excellent materials and big battery and I have read reviews that talk highly of this phone so maby I'll wait till one of you guys can share your real world experience.
Using hd. Came from Htc one x and galaxy nexus. Used to swap sim regularly. Htc one x was rubbish. Constant issues and returned with further issues after warranty work.
I love my Hd, torn with Nexus 4 though. The build quality of the hd is awsome and hopefully its strong enough to break my cycle of 2-3 phones every year. No regrets especially when in 4g

Please somebody upload the firmware? Telstra seems to operate on 4G 1800MHz like my Belgian provider. Then I can use 4G.
Or if someone is willing to sell me a new one >PM<

I'm thinking about getting the HD. I currently have the SGSIII. Any comparissons or recommendations on the two? Is the HD quicker with dual core Krait CPU?
Got a Razr HD on the weekend. Love it. The build quality is excellent and the software seems much better than some of Motos previous efforts. The battery life hasn't amazed me yet. Hopefully it improves. I can only get about 17 hours so far with moderate usage. I installed Juice Defender last night and it seems to be making a big difference so far...
Can't wait for Jelly Bean. After running CM10 on my previous phone (Defy) and my Nexus 7, ICS is a bit of a step backward...

Wife has a SG3, its ok, plastic feels cheap. All the extra UI stuff just gets turned off after the first gimmick day. My RAZR feels smoother.

Moved from Virgin to Telstra to get a Razr HD. Got it a just over a week ago and returned it yesterday morning. The vibrate was not working period so I contacted Moto and they told me to turn it on and off again... Super! Funnily enough that didn't bring the vibrater back to life. Ended up doing a full factory reset about a dozen times. Nope.
Returned to the phone to Telstra under their ELF program for up to a two week wait.. Yippee
They gave me a sweet Galaxy Ace to keep me going... Super.
Think I just got a bad one but if They replace it with another failure I might try and get an SGSIII instead. My wife has one and It is better then the Razr HD if I'm honest.
hello ,I am thinking about buying moto g , but after lenovo bought motorola , i am afraid it will stop the support for motorola devices , is that true?
and will someone tell me about the call quality on the moto g? i heard it is bad

So far so good, Moto G is among the very first devices to receive KK 4.4.3
Lenovo isn't stupid, they know that much of Moto's appeal is fast updates. Cheap alone doesn't cut, there are 100s of cheap Chinese devices - but most of them never see updates.
For me, call quality is OK.

Technicalities. For all practical purposes, yes they have.
As you can see in new launches, Moto E, Moto G 4G and the rumoured Moto X+1, all have MicroSD slots. No Nexus phone/tablet and original Moto G/X, all under Google, have the slot. Simply put, they want you to spend on Google Drive, and a MicroSD spoofs that.

Summing up, Moto G is amazing. I bought for myself and my wife, and we are both loving it. The only downside, in my humble opinion, is the lack of a MicroSD slot.
Just be sure to buy the 16GB version, especially if you are into games/recording videos, as these will eat up space in no time.
When you put it like that, Lenovo buying Motorola isn't such a bad thing. Lenovo laptops(especially the ThinkPad line) are very good too. I still remember how the CEO Yang Yuanqing took his annual bonus and gave it to his workers. I am sad by this shift in owners because I really was hoping for more phones to be made(assembled) in the US for the jobs. Having written that, the US market has spoken when it came to the Moto X so here I am with my Moto X, knowing this phone is probably the last of its kind because the US market values the price and specs more than the experience and where it came from.

That is strange as they are still being managed by Google. Lenovo has no control or influence over Motorola at this point.

Consumers seem to value price, specs, and most importantly brand. The only reason people buy Samsung phones is because, oh, Samsung! It's a popular brand!
It kinda sucks.

I would qualify this as something more than just popular brand. I'd make your argument for Apple products though! With Samsung, I can list some qualitative features that distinguish Samsung from the rest: AMOLED, removable battery, microSD, no on-screen buttons, plastic build-quality?? I've read enough peoples' opinions to know that they want to move away from Samsung, but can't because no other brand offers what Samsung offers.
I hope that Motorola will move backward to the days of microSD and removable batteries(doubtful).
MicroSD is already back.
Brand is not exactly what most people want. They want bang per buck, usually. Sure, some people with cash to spare buy due to the brand.
As you mentioned, some Samssung features are hard to find in others. But most Android phones now have on screen buttons. So, how to be the best in class when most fellas are basically the same? Price.
Price alone won't cut in some cases - smartphones, for example. 1st time smartphone buyers may be seduced by dirt cheap, but after a while some other things become priorities. That's when you want the most bang per buck. And that's where the Moto G excels.
Great price for the specs, especially screen. Camera is not top of the line but will do for the majority of people, casual shooters. SoC not top of the line but very good for the average user. Battery is decent, telephony is OK. So, you have a very decent phone at a very good price. Add to that blazing fast updates, and you have a winner. For the majority of people, the phone is more than enough. Phones with simmilar SoC/RAM/internal storage are a lot costlier. Let alone the 720p screen, which even costlier rivals lack.
Sure, the removable battery is nice to have, as are wireless charging and NFC, but not mandatory. What really annoys me is the lack of MicroSD. You have to backup stuff often. Google will be happy if you use Drive for that, but in Brazil prices for mobile data are too high, and even landline internet is not that fast, so many people, including me, use the USB cable for that.
I'm not worried

I owned several thinkpads, both before and after Lenovo bought the brand from IBM. While I would say the quality and available technology had become more mainstream over the years, the high-quality service that was provided by IBM always remained. I had a motherboard replaced on my T400 when it was a month old. That was I believe the 3rd generation of Lenovo product.
I just replaced my old Motorola V60 phone on my voice-only line with a Moto G, partially because it will be one of the last pre-Lenovo phones and because my old phone was dying, but I have no worry that the phone will be supported at least as well as other brands mid-level phones and probably better than most.
Now, if Lenovo would just bring back quality slider phones under the Motorola name, I might be able to give up my blackberry as well.
thank you all , couldn't get better answers than these

Yep, I also have a Lenovo laptop, and I gotta say, the hardware build quality is incredible for the price (2 years later, battery still lasts 3 hours like when I first got it). The software made by Lenovo looks ancient, but works really efficient and has 0 impact on cpu and ram (by 0, I don't mean 0.01 or 0.1, I mean 0, ZERO)
I really hope to see the same quality on the mobile devices (well, this is exactly the description of the moto g stock rom)

The Moto Maxx will go on sale today in Brazil through Motorola’s website. By mid-November, it will arrive in Mexico. Additional Latin American countries will get it shortly after.
Hi all,
Here you can have your say about anything in general, random stuff to chill out, Let it be about the moto maxx or anything else. I will start with introducing myself. Semseddin from Turkey, sporting the moto maxx xt1225 imported from Puerto Rico. It is weirdMy profession is jewellery but i work in phone business for quite some time. It was an hobby which somehow became my job for the living. I can shoot moto maxx versus any brand/model videos if you would like.
Overally, i am happy with the hardware but software isn't as good as it should have been in my experience. It looks like motorola didn't spend more of its resources for the moto maxx for a better android 5.0.2 update. Anyway, while i don't have high hopes of a early bug-free 5.1 update for this device, i wonder if we would ever have some custom roms based on the stock motorola software. That would make my day. I have never been a fan of android lollipop material user interface. Its design language doesn't appeal me. White background color in everywhere doesn't offer better battery effiency as well.
Maybe you need try cm and put some dark themes

Are you guys rocking the Maxx naked or with case?
My maxx is naked. I even pulled out the tempered glass screen protector on it cause with the screen protector, the device gets hotter. I bought a pair of sms audio street on ear headphones today which performs very well with the maxx. It is been a great experience after using htc one m7 with a pair of beats in ear headphones for my rock music archive.
So we finally have our own place here in XDA forums seperated from the bootloader locked sibling verizon droid turbo. Nice move by XDA management, better late than never. I believe this will somehow benefit all of us the international Moto Maxx owners. I am thankful to @SyCoREAPER since he is the guy behind our seperation somehow. Not sure how he did it but we are here in our own apartment instead of being guests in the Droid Turbo forums. I've not lost my faith in this device just because of it being a pure spec whore of a phone as some of the tech reviewers named it in his review.
Moto Maxx will skip 5.1.1 and get Android 6 marshmallow, this is coming from a serious source and it will not be a year after as some of us thinks.
I would love for you to be right, but do you have a source? Even If you can't share, is it at least credible? Thanks

These are my assumptions from our conversation with my source. Credibility is not issue but i can't give a name. I can tell that i've been told they're low on resources so they had to use their tiny amount of resources for the right direction without wasting it. i have been told not to worry as motorola didn't forget our moto maxx. All of that conversation was about makes me think they will skip lollipop releaseses for our devices and deploy 6.* with it. The cheap devices like Moto G / G 2014 , G Lte , Moto E , E2 etc. are deployed 5.1 cause it was their last update. I believe we will get 6.0 before 2016. :good:

I really want to believe this, but it is hard for me after seeing the poor and bad support that Motorola has given to this device, the most expensive device (along with N6) and the lack of service and support is awesome. Besides, Turbo already has 5.1, and I doubt it would be the last update it would receive, so I have opposite feelings about what you are saying.
Currently I don't have any problem with the software, is just "fine", but I would really like to see new features and improvements on it. Another thing I would like to see, is the new Moto function that is on the Moto X Style, the one when you take the phone out of your pocket and put it on your ear, and Moto Voice automatically activates and you can tell commands like if it was a call.
Let's hope this would be true, right now most of the manufacturers already have M on their hands and most of the changes should be merged for now, so it would be an easy matter to have the final M release of the flagship devices.

I can understand your frustration as we maxx users are having from motorola. Turbo got the 5.1 cause it skipped 5.0.2 and they had to deliver it, they are doing the same to us with 6 i guess, skipping 5.1
I thought this was a good place to jump into the Moto Maxx fray. Just bought a Moto Maxx imported into the States to use on AT&T. I was originally considering a second-hand Droid Turbo since my area has AT&T LTE band 2 in place. I also bought and tried a 2015 Moto X as well as a Nexus 5X, but returned both of them. I didn't actually use the 5X in fact, just refused delivery after hearing the reports come out last week. I'm really looking forward to the best of Motorola without the screen size shenanigans of 2015 Motorola =)
Actually new folks can perhaps wait a little bit more for international Droid Turbo 2 version (looks like Europe and Latin America are going to get it, XT1580, maybe Moto X Force, but codename is KINZIE for both).

But the Nexus 6P doesn't have Qi wireless. Actually neither 2015 Nexus has Qi wireless in spite of Google actively promoting the standard in Nexus phones since 2013. Very shortsighted of them. If I don't want to plug in my phone, then I don't want to plug in my phone. They could have included Qi wireless AND USB-C. It's not either/or, you can have BOTH. In my opinion, NEITHER 2015 Nexus is superior to the 2014 Moto Quark phones
Like you, I also don't see a huge improvement from the 2014 Motorola Quark (Droid Turbo, Moto Turbo, Moto Maxx) to the 2015 Motorola Kinzie (Droid Turbo 2, Moto X Force). If Motorola had given the Kinzie STEREO speakers and rear camera OIS, in addition to the microSD, I would be more tempted.
Also why does the 2015 Motorola successor to the Quark have a SMALLER battery than the 2014 Quark? Was 3900 mAh too big?

Probably they thought that there is no point in giving 2 days of battery life to power users, because at least in 1 day you should be somewhere to charge the phone; another reason is that they have a lot of trust in 810 efficiency regarding battery consumption.
Still for me it was a pretty stupid decision, they are acting like iPhone makers decreasing the battery of the device when they should at least maintain it the same size; we already have phones out there with batteries with more than 4,000 mAh, so bigger batteries I think is not an excuse right now for any manufacturer.
I love my moto maxx, its a beast
Greeting guys, i just moved from the Z3 forum to here (cause my z3 was second hand and in the end too much hardware issues). With my Maxx arriving soon (today if im lucky) what is your recommendations guys ? I'm already grabbing drivers and stuff to unlock the bootloader and root after i get the 6.0 update i think. But what to do now ? I'm aware that we have some roms but do they have the voice functions like retail ? Or should i keep the retail if i like these functions and just de-bloat as much as i can and put some app to help extend the (already titanic) battery life ?

That's an AWESOME price for what is still one of the best phones out there performance-wise.
Anyone own a Moto x 2014 before they bought the Nexus 6. Is the battery life and camera much better? I suspect them to me about the same as my Moto X.
That is a great price. I have the 64G Nexus 6 and it's fantastic. I read that the 2015 Nexus will have a little more than 5" screen. The 6" screen of the Nexus 6 is a great feature and it will be hard for me to settle for a smaller screen in the future. My old SGS III screen looks tiny.
If you just bought this phone like I did within the past 7 days from amazon they will credit the difference because of the price drop -)..... Oh yes you have to contact them it does not happen automatically..
Was waiting for the Moto XPE but decided to jump on this deal today. Best Buy did a price match so I'm already enjoying it.
Bought a 32gb white version this morning. I couldn't let this phone slide for that price. What's crazy is... just a few days ago I also bought a 64gb Moto x Pure. I guess it's gonna be a Moto month for me?
bestbuy also updated their pricing..
Hard to pass up, have a best buy gift card. No one knows how it compares to moto x 2014? Is it a step up?
This was too good of a deal for me to pass up as well. I've been going strong with my N5 for a while, and was probably going to keep it if Google released the 6.0 image with T-Mobile WiFi Calling, but I had to jump on this.
I was waiting for a few more details to be more concrete about the new Nexii phones, but so it goes. This is a steal of a price, and I've wanted to try out the bigger screen anyway. Everyone I see with either a Note, N6, iPhone 6 Plus, etc etc all say the same thing...once they got used to it, they can't imagine going back to a smaller screen. Good call for those of you who went to Best Buy and did the price match with them. I thought about checking it out, but was hoping I could skirt a bit of the Illinois sales tax through Amazon.
Looking forward to getting my N6, should have it on Tuesday I would think. Amazon shipping says Sunday, but I highly doubt it'll actually get here then.
I know these phones will work on Verizon but does anyone know if Verizon will actually activate it if the IMEI is not on their white list? Would swapping in the SIM out of my current Verizon HTC M8 work?
Thanks
Bill
I got this phone like a month ago at the first level of price drops
Lol, oh well. If your thinking about it do it. Great phone.
If you want one but "its too big", no its not. Buy one.
Too good of a deal to pass up, had to get another one as a backup.
This is the quandary I am in as well...I just sold my one plus one and an lg g3. I'm using an s5 for now but really hate all the crap it took to root and the limited development. I loved the one plus it had active develoment but missed the wireless charging from my s5 and nexus 5 before that. I think this may just be the right phone, wireless charging active development only thing missing is no fingerprint scanner and no SD expansion. There really is no perfect phone right now...

And I maybe the only one but I do love the IR blasters in Samsung and LG phones they are so convenient. If I could put stock android on my s5 it would be the perfect phone.

And I don't necessarily want to wait for the two new models as I like that the development is going strong on the N6. I got the N5 right when it came out and it took a while before good roms started rolling.

To the person wondering if the nexus 6 is a step up from the moto x 2014, I had both and the nexus is by far a huge step up in performance, battery life, and overall, everything. I am glad I did it.
I'm about to buy my wife one as well since the price is so low. What a deal!
Nick
Good to know. Thank you! You get at least a couple hours more battery than moto x 2014 right?
