Please help with vivotab windows 8 booting from usb - Windows 8 General

Power + volume down buttons to boot into boot menu.
Everytime I choose boot from usb, it always boots into windows 8 (main disc). I've tried changing the bios to only boot from usb and disabled the hard drive. Again, it boots straight into windows 8.
I'm trying to install x86 android.
I feel like it's something obvious I'm missing here.

Its odd that it doesnt even attempt to boot but that doesnt matter anyway.
The vivotab uses an intel clovertrail CPU. The clovertrail is not capable of running anything but windows 8, I don't know how or why but somehow intel have managed to get it set up so that it will not boot into the linux kernel or anything that isn't windows. Android uses the linux kernel so your out of luck for now.
Bluestacks for clovertrail should work.

[Q] Asus VivoTab ME400CL Boot device.

Hi,
A few days ago I bought VivoTab ME400CL with Windows 8, I tried to boot from USB or MicroSD but it is impossible.
I tried disable secure boot but sill nothing. I called asus info center and guy told me "Ports are blocked and booting from other devices is impossible"
who can help me, maybe is any chance to do something with this.
You can only boot into signed recovery media. Nothing else.
Linux etc does not have support for clover trail. Windows 8 is actually the only operating system that will run on it.

[Q] Full Windows Smartphone?

Hello,
is it possible to install a full Windows 8 OS on a smartphone with Intel Atom Z2420 or other Intel CPUs?
(No Windows Phone or RT)

They have locked bootloaders (almost always) and non ACPI compatible chipsets (sometimes). Can't stick windows on them unfortunately, screen would be too small anyway. Would certainly be cool though.
Bottom line no. The space requirements for a full install of windows is bigger than internal space available on most of the phones out there. An alternative would be to find a way to install a working version on a micro SD.
I think, the installation on a micro sd shouldnt be so hard.
But booting could be the problem.
Or would it be easier to install a "normal" linux version?

The CPU's in most phones can only boot from the onboard flash as is. The hardware doesnt support more.
Clovertrail *by design* can only load windows *or* android (it was sold in 2 versions to do so). The windows version physically cannot load anything else, the android version cannot load anything else.
Eliminates microSD booting and also booting windows on an intel phone. You may have luck with linux on one but that can be done on ARM handsets already, android itself uses linux so it stands to reason that clovertrail may be fooled into booting it, but I dont see the advantage over an ARM handset in doing so.
I only need the x86 architecture for some programms.
And no android/ubuntu touch
PLain ubuntu has been loaded on android tablets already and they have the same hardware as phones. Most linux software is open source and somewhat easily ported to ARM as is.
Yes, i know.
But i didnĀ“t find something for a x86 phone and if for example full ubuntu on Motorola Razr I or Lenovo K900 is the same ubuntu like on a pc, where i also can run x86-only programms.

[Q]Windows 8 and 8.1 dual boot issue?

i have a problem
i had windows 8.1 64-bit in my pc then after that i installed windows 8 32-bit in different partition after that when i reboot my pc i didn't get the dual boot option to choose between windows 8 and 8.1..my system automatically loads windows 8....
Sounds like you didn't do the installation safely with regard to the old OS. The 64-bit one may have been using a 64-bit bootloader? In any case, you may have clobbered the boot partition of the old installation. You can try using bcdedit to add a boot entry for the old OS - it might still work - but you may need top use 64-bit Win8.1 recovery media instead (and doing so you risk clobbering the boot partition for the 32-bit install).
... Do I dare ask why somebody would *do* this? I mean, I could understand if you were installing Win7 or something, and even vaguely understand why you'd install 32-bit instead of 64-bit (though these days I pretty much exclusively use virtual machines for 32-bit systems) but why in the world install 32-bit Win8 on a 64-bit Win8.1 machine??

Phoenix OS wont boot and doesnt show any text after selecetd

So.. I just installed Phoenix OS on my laptop, using the latest exe file. Once finished, I went on to restart the PC, then, there is a screen / terminal that I can choose between 2 OS, which is my Windows 10 , and Phoenix OS. Picking Windows 10 would boot Windows 10, but when I pick Phoenix OS, it just goes black, then after 5 seconds it just restarts and goes back to the terminal. Reinstalling won't help. Turning off secure boot and fast boot also doesnt work. Please help.
.
If you are wondering if there are any white text or logs that show when I pick an OS on tge terminal, there is, but only when I pick Windows 10, picking phoenix, as I already said, doesn't show anything, just blackness, though I know the laptop is turned on because I can see the brightness, and after 5 seconds, it turns off and turns back on again (restarts)
My laptop specs are.. AMD A9-9420 , RADEON R5 M420, 4GB RAM.
Asus X555BP
have you tried this or this ?
I haven't tried any of those solution, I will try them out. But I am unsure on how to do the solution where you replace the grub file from ubuntu(?) because I do not have ubuntu and also, i do not have any knowledge about that OS. . Recently, I tried installing Phoenix OS via ISO using a bootable flash drice, and it gives me the same result. When I choose install on harddrive, it just restarts on the terminal, when i try boot directly from usb, it also restarts. Maybe theres some incompatability issues on my hardware?
EDIT: So sorry for not reading the whole thing, the grub files were on the attachements. I feel so dumb
Tried the two solutions, none worked. I will read from that thread and see if i can find any other solutions

Thanks. Everyone tried to make their (old) rig work on Phoenix, I found installing 1.5 worked for me, too bad it is very outdated with the Play service unable to update (Error 910). Do you have any clues what could go wrong?
Thinkpad x100e, AMD NV-40, 4G RAM
I have installed Phoenix Os on a variety of laptop and pc processors, succes install Phoenix Os on Acer A6 and Lenovo A8 with Phoenix ROC : D, sucess installs my PC core 2 duo E7500 with Phoenix Os v1.5 because it only supports sse4.1, and my laptop Lenovo a9 succes install Phoenix OS with a little problem in UEFI bios settings, try to set UEFI to allow access to Boot for Phoenix OS, so if anyone thinks Phoenix OS can't be installed on the AMD processor it is wrong >: |

Whats the state of Windows 10 booting on ARM Android Tablets?

So Windows 10 on ARM is here, and I have seen a project resulting in Win10 running on an ARM phone (Lumia 950XL)
Does anyone know if there are projects to install Windows 10 on an ARM powered Android Tablet?
Anyone??
Would like to know from someone who undersntad the boot technology on ARM powered Android tabs if its even practical to modify the bootloader to load a windows image.
They can install Win 10 on the Raspberry Pi 3
They can install Win 10 on the Raspberry Pi 3, they should be able to boot in Android and Fire Tables
Afaik, there's no standard UEFI implementation yet that will boot WoA for android devices. You'd also still run into the issue of drivers, we can't just take Android drivers and use them under Windows (different kernels, syscalls and executable format), so porters would need to find or build Windows equivalents.
I also almost forgot, MS is also removing things related to calling and messaging from the system, so viability may not be good anymore.
