Everyone help

look i know cyanogenmod isnt a beautiful rom for yall yet, but almost everyone here has come from a phone that either had it or wanted it on there. yet now cyanogenmod needs your support. people seek to change the rom just because of them, i say nay. as a user i understand something, if i dont like a rom then i dont use it.. not tell the dev to change it. it started with a commit

they want to removed the cyanogenmod girls wallpaper why? because his girlfriend was offended. clearly shes not that offended to stay off teh rom tho. we need your help

umm..does it really matter if they remove a wallpaper? its no big deal...reinstall it if you want it...I mean Ive installed plenty of roms that didnt have any wallpapers at all..just install new ones..its no big deal..
That said I'm not exactly familiar with this wallpaper in particular..but if Cyanogenmod's goal is to be another distribution of Android as Cyanogen hopes..and this wallpaper is offensive then it should be removed...

Can I have my 2 minutes back looking at this poorly titled thread?

I don't see what's so offensive about the wallpaper, everyone already knew soccer was a girls' sport.

Just click on the first link in the OP. There's a screen shot in there.

if its such a big deal to them than why not just delete the image and move on? No need to remove it from the zip files. If you don't like it that much than delete it after installation

I'd like to just understand more about all of the topics. Not to be a dev, but just to be able to communicate better on this forum about it. Like I understand digitals VMS os but always hated to work with unix, so I learned very little about it.. What is scripting ? what is meant by modding, etc.

Modding as in learning what I do in my tweak
Scripting is I'll give you bash script lessons

Also the lessons won't start until next week sometime because I wan to gather a group of students first. Right now I have a small class of 8 people. I'm only starting next week so that I can make a plan on where I'm going to start teaching you and the process I'm going to go about teaching you more (what should I teach you after what I previously taught you so that the lessons flow together). but I'm sure I can teach you all enough so that you all can start doing something for xda too

I'd rather teach one on one makes it easier for me to get to learn my students and how they learn and how fast , and how to go about teaching them

Cool After I finish test v2.0 (major changes made to it from v1.5 so that its all mine and its much better that v1.5 )

Develop a market?

Okay so I have thought about this for a long time.
I want to develop a Market, but I don't know were to start... So I need help with this. Maybe we can make a development team of this?
What I can do:
- Supply with Servers (MySQL, FTP etc)
- code in eclipse (I'm not a hardcore coder)
- design the app
I guess you can have a listview to begin with that takes data from a JSON from a MySQL database. Well I'm not really sure.
So if any is interested, post here on this thread or send a PM to me

that doesnt appear to have anything to do with this topic. they are discussing how to compile and package native c binaries for android. the only thing that comes close is the discussion of opkg

If u need any apk's to stock it let me know. I have somewhere in the ballpark of about 1400. I would need to go through them all 2 remove all the paid apps 1st though.

You could probably just take a look at the AOSP source code, specifically the market code, and get started from there.

Penetration Testing ROM-Testers Needed

Hello Everyone,
I am Tom Cr0w, owner of the Cr0w's Place and the Cr0w's Place YouTube Channel and I have developed a ROM for the HTC One that comes with the best apps and utilities for penetration Testing and anonymity.
Don't get too exited, it is not something fancy, it is stock ROM Zipaligned and DeOxeded with a little more customization. The thing is that I don't own an HTC One and if someone can test my ROM I will be glad. Keep in mind that is in very early face and I don't take responcibility for anything that happens. If you are intrested leave a commend bellow and i will provide you the link of my ROM and instructions in a PM.

Looks like a nice idea mate. I have always used chrooted Backtrack on my droid for pentest's . Having a pentesting ROM and that too on ONE will be nice.
I am just trying to understand that is this ROM all about a STOCK ROM with some best of breed pentest apps pre-installed or you got some other features too ? If its just about collection of apps on and off playstore why not an AROMA package which any custom ROM can eventually use.
Apologies was not trying to challenge your idea and work but was just trying to think if the pentest collection can be leveraged/installed easliy on my existing setup..
Btw that please pass down the links of the ROM will love to give some feedback.

Because I don't have a high range android phone that most of these apps will work properly(and also my future ideas ) , I don't have the money to take one, I am a fan of HTC and finally I want to help the community.. Anyone that wants to help me by his/hers side good enought, anyone that doesn't want to help me by his/hers side also good enought.

If you need an extra tester I am in I own an international HTC One with S-Off. I have tested many ROMs and I was looking for something new like this kind of ROM. Let me know..

Source to learn java for android apps?

Outside the official java tutorial site. I know that is the best site to learn java, but Ive tried and I cant keep up. It looked messy for me. So anyone got a site or a book which covers some moderate stuff? Im not looking for game development. Also, I've managed to make my own simple notepad app, from the exercise at google. So no "hello world" tutorials, please.

It's a great book.

If you're new to Java, I would highly recommend at least learning the basics of Java and OO before launching into Android dev. Mainly because with Android dev there are a lot more moving parts than just pure Java.
Haven't taken this course myself, but looking through the contents of the course it looks quite good. At the price of 'FREE' you can't go wrong! https://www.udemy.com/java-tutorial/

Oh yeah, that makes sense! Seems like a stupid question now. I've always tended to avoid the tutorials from the actual vendors since they are typically the worst. I guess I sometimes forget they even exist...

i think if u have better foundation of c or c++ the learning lava will hardly take one month...
i will give my example i learnt c++ in my 12th standard...
then for developing android app i learnt java by myself without any tutorials or guides ,just used eclipse IDE and source codes of sample android app...
and now my android app is in playstore... and i made my app opensource and u can see my app in this thread..

Since you both recommend this book, I'll give it a try. I found 'Head First Java Second Edition' on Amazon. Seems like there are two different versions. Which did you guys read? Thanks for the help

I have Head First Java, 2nd Edition This book amazing because it's explain like in life events or something like that then you very easy to learn it.

I used the German edition of the book. I recommend to choose the second edition as it should contain information that is more up to date.
