Ok, I'm very much a novice to modding, and out of frustration of being unable to fix a problem I was having with my N7 (CM10.1), I formatted /sdcard, /system, /cache and /data partitions through ClockworkMod, thinking the problem would just be wiped with all that data. Well I think I messed up big time. I thought I'd be able to just restore my tablet to it's original state after all that was wiped, but now I don't have anything to flash! (duh, I wiped the whole damn thing.)
Please, please, someone tell me there's a way to get my N7 working again! Am I missing something in CW Recovery that just resets it back to brand new? If not, is there a way I can transfer a zip to the /sdcard partition to flash? Maybe using USB OTG? I have an OTG dongle. Please help!
Thank you in advance.
AW: Please help! Bricked???
if u can go into fastboot mode you should be fine as u should be able to flash a factory image from google

Live and learn. For future reference, formatting /data also wipes your emulated sd card. What you should have done instead was select Factory Reset. This would wipe /data while leaving /data/media untouched.
Anyway, like naien said, all you need to do is fastboot flash a stock image. It's quick, easy, and painless.
Have you tried to use this guide : [GUIDE] Flashing a Factory Image with fastboot / return to stock
Thank you guys sooo much for your help!!! I followed the guide you posted for me,philos64, and I was able to get my N7 back to stock and working again! You have no idea how relieved I am. :good:

Well a couple days ago I decided to try out amona Ra Recovery. I don't know what happened but after I installed it and tried to flash a rom my tablet would not boot. So I said no big deal. Ill just wipe and flash again. Well now everytime I try to do anything like restore a backup or wipe data(even mount the data partition) I get an "cant mount /Data" error. Same with the internal sd. I cant mount that either. I can mount the system and flexrom and just about everything else. So I then loaded thor's touch CWM recovery as well as the standard cwm recovery and still a no go. Can not mount the data or sdcard partition. So I then decided to try and flash thors ICS rom. When I did it would boot but it gets to a screen that say encryption failed and I need to do a factory reset. I never set it up to encrypt by the way. But I cant factory reset due to the fact that I cant mount the data partition. Hope I gave enough info. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Ill probaly donate to the person who can help me. Thanks in advance
EDIT: Also if anyone may happen to have a copy of the acer unbrick Update.zip that would be greatly appreciated. All the links I find go to megaupload.com which I'm sure everyone knows by now is shut down. Thanks again
Go to the RA Recovery thread .. There is a link in the OP Post about that specific issue.
if you cant find it Post in there your problem and how you got to where it happened.. He will help you
thanks for the reply. I will try that
Dear all,
I was on Quarx CM10 build 20121118, then just tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2080556 and managed to kill my phone. I think what happened was that the data partition was full and an empty services.jar was written back. But whatever I thought I am a lucky guy because I did a full backup in custom recovery just the night before.
So I went into custom recovery, did a factory reset, wiped all I could and selected restore system and data.
But all I get is "Error while restoring /system" And "error while restoring android secure".
I spent the whole day searching the forum, found something about formatting system/data to ext3, tried that with no change.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Would be even greater if you could explain the steps understandable for an idiot like me.
Thanks in advance,
Matthias

You can't restore nandroid of CM10/9, i dont know why, but i also can't restore cyanogenmod nandroid backups, stock roms backups are restoring fine, but cm - still no luck. PS: your system is ext3, because we have locked boot. Data and other partitions restoring fine except cm backups.

That's the point formatting system & data to ext3, but make sure don't wip data & cache after rom installed without reboot , since you're still under CM10's bootmenu.
Hope this helps .

hmm i would probably try restoring sans odin...should fix whatever partition issues your having
I had to restore from KIES...
Wouldnt boot again.
Go in stock recovery and
Format data / factory RESET the thing...
WTH I almost tought i lost it for a sec !!
Never format data. What you should have done is odin back to stock, then factory reset through stock recovery. Kies is hit or miss when it comes to recognizing the phone in that state. You got lucky. There are a few topics on how to fix the problem you had.

I format /data every time I flash a new ROM and I experience fewer bugs because of it.
I just back up all my important files (data folder) to external SD and then restore after I install the new ROM. Works great for me. :good:

I'm mostly on TWRP but I do it in CWM also.
At most, your issue (whatever it was) was due to user-error or a random system glitch.
At worst, you have to ODIN back to stock which only takes about ten minutes to do, five minutes to re-root and install TWRP and then you're good to go again.
Don't know if any further research has been done on this subject, but it's the only thread that came back with TWRP+format.
This same thing happened to me last week, I *think* it was my first internal format on my i337, was able to boot then fail.
Odin back to stock fixed issues.
Any thought why this happens? Any suggestions for best clean format approach besides an Odin? Flash CWM/Philz for the format then back to TWRP if desired?
I'm currently stuck in the same situation. Used TWRP to format /data to try and clean up the internal sdcard and now I'm bricked. Flashed 3 diff recoveries and about a billion roms, nothing works. Downloading a fresh odin flashable stock rom as we speak.
edit: so flashing stock rom via ODIN wasnt quite enough. I then had to enter stock recovery and do a factory reset. I noticed any time I tried to format /data the system would crash and reboot. The stock recovery was able to properly format data and now I'm back on a custom recovery/rom again.
So I've been using various JB ROM's on my Defy for the past couple of years, but this time I made the mistake of using the factory reset within the stock recovery. I found a thread that mentioned using the "ultimate wipe" for defy and then reflashing my ROM of choice would fix issue, but when I use the wipe the custom recovery still tells me it is unable to mount /cache or /data on my phone.
My phones internal storage is also showing as 0, so I am unable to install any apps etc.
I'm completely stumped right now, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated. I'll provide any further information I can if its needed, thanks in advance

I think you need to start over from SBF.

Your partitions might have a problem and the wipe script doesn't format them, it just deletes their contents. In the bootmenu you can format your /data and /cache partitions (ext4); if that doesn't work, then yes, gotta start over from SBF.

Thank you heaps for the help. I just decided to go ahead and reflash SBF. That all went fine, RSDlite gave a pass. I then went into the stock recovery in order to do the factory reset again before I root, and Data now formats, but Cache throws up the error "E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log".
The actual phone seems to work fine if I boot it up, but that error just makes me wonder as I'm not sure how much of a problem it really is
Hi, I am trying to make a nandroid backup using twrp on my LG G6 H870, but I am unable to do so as the data fails to be mounted. I have tried to repair the partition using twrp but I just get an error 8 and I don't know what that means. If someone could help, that would be great. I am doing this so that I can safely restore to the stock rom from HavocOS.
Thanks
