Hey everyone
This is my first guide so please be polite
In this guide I will show you how to setup 240dpi or possibly an dpi on your rom.
Links to all the requisites will be given below.
But what is dpi ?
It is the value that manages most ui of the system. a lower dpi means everything would be smaller hence more things could be fitted in the giant screen we have. a higher means everything would be larger hence less could be fitted into the screen
Before We Begin I Want To Clarify The Following-
1)First and foremost I am not responsible for any damage you cause.
2)I assume you have already rooted your phone and have some experience with rooting.
3)You have made backup to be sure that in case you mess up you you can return to what it was like before.
4)Read the whole post before actually starting.
5)Please Hit Thanks Button If I Helped You
So let's Begin-
1)Download and setup xposed framework (Very good instructions on how to do it in the thread) (You need to reboot).
2)Download these modules - xposed app settings , gappscrashfix , all apps in play store.
3)Enable all the 3 modules (You need to Reboot).
4)Now open xposed app settings and set open each app listed below and in dpi enter 320 but don't change anything else.
-calculator
-camera
-clock
-contacts
-dialer storage
-fm radio
-messaging
-task manager
-touchwiz home
-weather widget main
Now some of these could be skipped or some could be added(can be tested but imao that will make the ui ugly but still it's completely your choice).
Also modded versions of some of these apps has been provided by bala_gamer.
5)Before we begin copy the modded samsung keyboard from the link given or setup some other keyboard and make it default.
6)Now open /system/build.prop or use a build.prop editor if you are very conscious and change the following line "ro.sf.lcd_density=320" to "ro.sf.lcd_density=240"
7)Now before we reboot we need to include apply one fix , so instead of rebooting , power off your phone
8)Then go into recovery and flash the modded samsung keyboard.
9)Reboot and enjoy 240dpi.
Note -
1)The stock keyboard will constantly force close on 240 dpi (if you use xposed settings to set it to 320dpi, you will be practically unable to use it), so bala_gamer(thank him) has customized it to work properly on 240 dpi.
2)Recovery must be custom (ofcourse ).
3)Be sure to flash the correct version of modded apps (i.e. 4.1.1 if you have it or 4.1.2 if you have that)
4)I don't know if gappscrashfix and allappsinplaystore are actually required but nothing bad in using it.
5)I know the explanation of dpi is incorrect but that's all you need to know.
6)Installing xposed framework doesn't affect simplistic framework at all.
7)The gappscrashfix and allappsinplaystore you download would be in .zip format. Just rename them to .apk and you can install it then.
8)Many apps especially the system ones or samsung ones aren't ment to scale well. They are just meant to look good at 320dpi so they will look way ugly at 240dpi. To fix this xposed settings is used. You need to set it for each app that you think is ugly.
9)You can use mobile odin to flash the zip. Just use ota tab.
Finally the links-
1)xposed framework - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401 (Link to modules page in his thread).
2)modded apps - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2001577
And not to forget credits
-rovo89 for framework
-bala_gamer for modded apps
-numerous other people who helped me in some way or the other (please pm me if I forgot anyone).
Great Job & Guide my friend.
Thanks

At which point should we flash the modded apps?
And also, I assume that if I use only Swiftkey I can skip the modded samsung keyboard flashing step, right?.

Flash it after you set 240 dpi
Yeah correct if you just wanna use SwiftKey then you don't need to flash it.
Mind it that you will get continuous fc pop ups of Samsung keyboard if you remove SwiftKey.

You can change the dpi of other apps normally in pa settings.
These modded apps will probably not work with jellybam but you can try if you want to.

For those wondering what to so with the gappscrashfix.zip and allappsplaystore.zip from the villainrom site, just rename the file to apk and install. The message to enable it in the xposed will come, enable it and then reboot. Think the op should give a mention in the 1st post.

This is all great but it would be even better if there was a mod for 4.1.2 roms to place the status bar at the bottom with the soft navigation keys like in a tablet ui. I found one but it seems to only work for 4.1.1.

Ok, so here is the deal, I have been looking for stuff to mod the last Hehappy ROM (Lastkiss) and found all of these things working for our phone (They SHOULD work on Neko's IcySnap ROM as well), everyone of them has been tested by me on the LG Optimus One P500:
NOTE ABOUT THIS ONE (LG Optimus 4x Lock Screen) :
It does unlock the screen but you have to tap in the center of the screen and SLOWLY (as in very careful and slowly) drag your finger all the way to your upper right corner. (not really worth it)

Default [MOD][CM9]Multitasking mod / app switcher for cm9 Pico mdpi
Thanks to evilisto, I was able to mod and compile a multitasking/app switcher mod for cm9 HTC Explorer/pico (mdpi) that looks a lot more pretty. (see attachment)
v1 Features:
Dark grey backgroud.
Horizontal navigation between apps.
Swipe up or down to kill app.
Large, beautiful looking thumbnail.
v1a Features:
Same as v1 but changed background to give windows mobile look (looks much prettier).
v2 Features (Sense 4 Multitasking - what's different):
Added code to generate gradient in background.
Added title Recent Apps.
Added thumbnail Reflection.
Added display of icons above the app title.
Added tilt/rotate to thumbnail.
Note: Some people have asked me how to enable landscape view. Landscape view will work only if you are already in an app which is in landscape mode when launching app switcher or if in landscape mode in your launcher (if enabled). This will work for v1, v1a and v2 and all future versions as well.

(Use in case of bootloop or in case you want to use a different mod)
How to install the mods? Download file, boot into recovery, flash the file, wipe dalvik-cache and reboot.

Nope, IIRC Oxygen ROM isn't compiled from the same sources as Hehappy's.

Neko's IcySnap CM9

Xperia ICS V2 CM9 (It's a themed hehappy's ROM)

What? D:
I things its working just try.make backup first.
This issue has been important for me since I purchased my Verizon Droid Razr HD Maxx (consumer edition). I wanted to be able to remove the navbar on the bottom of the screen and take advantage of the full screen. Apparently AOKP roms have this capability and you can toggle via power button menu, but there is no AOKP version available for Razr HD. I tried all the mods I could find in the forums (generally written for Nexus phones/tablets). These are the following:
1. Adding the following line to build.prop: "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" (without quotes). I tried this on the rooted stock JB rom and on Batakang rom. In both cases, the mod causes both navigation bar (bottom of screen) and status bar (top of screen) to disappear, with frequent UI crash messages.
2. Editing the framework-res\res\values\bools.xml and changing the value of ”config_showNavigationBar” from "true" to "false". This is discussed in detail in the following link: http://www.androidincanada.ca/news/make-your-galaxy-nexus-full-screen/ I did not try this mod on rooted stock JB (since I made a flashable zip out of my new framework-res.apk and safestrap won't allow zip installation in the stock slot). I tried this mod only on the Batakang rom. The mod causes both navigation bar (bottom of screen) and status bar (top of screen) to disappear, with frequent UI crash messages, similar to previous mod.
3. In retrospect, I wonder what would have happened if I tried both mods listed above at the same time. It may have worked. I may try this later. But then I installed CM10 beta rom by dhacker and tried the FullScreenToggleV2.apk mod provided in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497558 This worked like a charm, without any crashes or any disruption of the status bar. This apk inserts the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" line in your build.prop (the same as mod #1 listed above) but it's easier since you don't have to manually edit your build.prop. I tried this mod on rooted stock JB rom and Batakang rom, but it had the same (failed) results as in mod #1 above. So it only works for CM10 rom by dhacker on my XT926. I suspect it will also work in CM10 on XT925 (by epinter) but I don't have one to try.
Ideally there would be a mod that would work on the rooted stock JB rom. But short of that, at least it's reassuring that the Razr HD navbar can be removed in the CM10 rom. One could hope it may even be added as a CM10 feature later on
*** Important Note: if you attempt this, obviously you would need another way to navigate through your screens. I use LMT listed under mod #3 link above. There are other options available also. Just make sure to install some app that provides an alternative method of navigation before you try the mod.
Good luck!
Very interesting! Worth looking at this

Hello, thank you very much for this. I've been looking for something like this. I guess my search ways are not the best.
About LMT, what devise did you choose? I chose Droid Razr, but I can't get the swipe gestures to work.
But I'm using swipepad for navigation, so no problem going from one app to the other. The problem I still need to solve is the menu key to show.
Anyway, thank you very much.
I use the PIE feature in LMT and don't pick any device (I guess it just goes with default). It just works. Haven't tried gestures since it typically needs two handed phone operation. Not sure what your menu button problem is but the PIE feature has a menu button as well.
Thank you for your answer. I will use Pie then.
I was using the Tablet UI, just so I can have more screen space, but as a result, most of my fonts were really small. Now I can go back to 320 dpi.
Thank you again.
Is it easy to disable as well?. Like if i tried it on cm10 and i wasn't liking it can i just uninstall it or factory reset or flash cm10 over again?
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2
Yes. It's very easy to bring the navbar back. You don't need to factory reset or flash CM10 over again. If you use the app in mod#3 above, the app has a button to re-enable the navbar (remember, don't uninstall the app, just run it again and choose the other button). Or you could edit your build.prop and remove the "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" line (reverse of mod #1 above, as mod #1 should work in CM10, and the app seems to do the same thing as mod #1). I think it also works if you change the value of "qemu.hw.mainkeys" to 0 instead of 1. You just have to reboot every time to see the changes.
did anyone get this to work on another rom i tried the build.prop edit but did the same as what OP said
I use the LMT and the Full screen toggle with Cm 10.1 with great success. No problem so far. Just be careful to have access to LMT all the time.

Good luck!

Upgrade to JB there are option in the forum if not available with your carrier and use Option 1, Ready it works OK, I use Gmd Gesture Control Instead of NavBar; Enjoy!!
BTW I use the FW from Canada and files to use it with telcel in Mexico, it works great, well menu appears and hide in some apps and you must try again but its usable.

I know I'd just rather do it myself and on ICS SystemUI crashes constantly after adding the line. Is that still happening on JB or does it hide it properly?

CAUTION:
PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL ANY ADDITIONAL SCRIPT! YOU MAY RESULT IN BOOTLOOP!
==================================================================================================
Note:
1. Use link2sd application from PlayStore for using partition of your sd card. It's not included in this ROM
2. Please don't use mixzing equalizer. It will not work. Use AudioFX instead which is already included in this ROM under widget.
3. If you use different launcher than the default one, the icons which are themed white may be replaced with the icons provided with installed launchers.
4. FM radio is the default application from CM team without RDS. The radio uses Bluetooth chip for transmission. So it will start bluetooth when you power on FM. It's normal and not a bug!
5. This ROM allows upto 964Mhz OC, but those who wants to get higher batterybackup, just underclock your CPU. Here's the trick posted by me : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27469465&postcount=26
6. Those who want to change icons Just search on playstore with "adw launcher theme" and you will find 100s of icon packs! For this theme I will suggest Aerish adw theme since the icons are taken from the same.
7. For USB th please Download this app and install: http://code.google.com/p/android-wired-tether/downloads/detail?name=wired_tether_1_4.apk&can=2&q=. Did not got the reply from developer so can't add in the ROM.
8. For better GPS fix according to your location you can edit system/etc/gps.config with following. By default it's europe and it works well with almost everywhere. Tested by myself in India(Asia).Only do the changes if you know what you are doing.
Code:
Europe — europe.pool.ntp.org
Asia — asia.pool.ntp.org
Oceania — oceania.pool.ntp.org
North America — north-america.pool.ntp.org
South America — south-america.pool.ntp.org
Africa — africa.pool.ntp.org
9.To remove google search box from mainscreen go to adw launcher settings>>screen>>actionbar design>>chooese Disabled.
10. App2SD or S2E may not work. Use Link2Sd

JATR- Just another Themed ROM
BTW what you have done to increase battery life. BTW only kernel can make battery life better because of UV and steps of frequency and yes governor... I don't think and tweaks or script can made battery life better because it's depend on usage and yes according to brightness and kernel.... Though it is a constructive criticism.....

hey thanks! I am waiting to get your feedback!
Hey, how is it going?
Been testing your rom for a few days already. Let me start by saying Great Work!. It has great speed, and battery duration, it also feels very smooth while handling.
A few problems I've found:
On Google Play, I'm not able to install Foursquare because it detects it as an non compatible device, when it works on all the other roms i´ve tried.
When using S2E, works fine until you try to install an application from the SD card, then it reboots everytime you try.
Also, when you try to connect to the PC via Wondershare or any other software that connects to the phone and is able to install apps, It reboots everytime it tries to install one.
The last 2 only happen with S2E installed. Removed it and tried with Link2SD and that one works fine. Could you add the S2E support?
I haven´t found the non-compatible device problem with the other apps that I use, but there could be others.
PD: Great job with the rom. :good:

Maybe try installing Foursquare off market. Also Link2SD will work with this ROM. I suppose it's the kernel issue! I will update this in my 1st post.

Hey everyone.
This is my first post in s3 section. I made a guide on how to setup 240 dpi on note 2 and I thought it would be a great idea since the requisites are available for both the phones.
UtkarshGupta said:
Hey everyone
This is my first guide so please be polite
In this guide I will show you how to setup 240dpi or possibly any dpi on your rom.
5)Please Hit Thanks If I Helped You
So let's Begin-
1)Download and setup xposed framework (Very good instructions on how to do it in the thread) (You need to reboot).
9)Please Hit Thanks If I Helped You

That just modifies the DPI in build.prop. It does not make apps scale selectively. If I'm not mistaken, the Xposed FW is like what Paranoid Android has with its Hybrid engine, where you can selectively scale apps.

Yeah once I see a new changes or tweaks in Skia and Bionic I'll definitely update it, but the ROM is currently fast and stable so try it out.
So I really like this ROM thanks for it..
Only issue I been having is that google wallet doesn't work. I have no option to tap and pay, I finally was able to restore an old version of google wallet and its giving me this error: Google wallet is not yet available for your device or mobile network..
I am thinking maybe its a build.prop issue?

Ok so I think I fixed it.. I just had to change a few values in the build.prop.. heres what I changed.
ro.product.model = Nexus 4 (changed from Mako)
ro.product.brand = google (changed from Android)
ro.product.name = occam (changed from full_mako)
Seemed to have fixed it
I can't seem to find out which module made the report button say "reboot" instead of "report"... very weird thing, but it's not that big of a deal.

Another question, its not a huge deal and it might just be a module I have enabled..
But sometimes I get stuck in a weird loop.. like I am in a app hit the recent app menu, go into another app and then if I hit back key it goes back to the recent menu, then if I hit back again goes back to the app, hit back again it goes back to recent apps. etc etc
I don't think stock ever did that.. Its not a huge deal just odd?
*edit* I can't duplicate it but it happens..

Question, if its too much trouble don't worry about replying.. But I been wanting to someday build my own ROMs from source, now I googled and found some easy enough guides about making a build enviroment and building from source etc.. But what I was curious about is building with different toolsets (like saber) and also what is involved in cherry picking from other roms.
Any good noob guides that you have used / know of that could help me learn?
Again thank you so much for a great rom
I'll guide you when you're available. Just PM me.

Found volume wake option in modaco toolkit under htc one options(after enable it you must do a soft reboot to make it work), for those that like this option on their rom :d

Ah bummer about the laptop.
Looks like what I got to do with my wife's laptop, her DC jack needs to be replaced and I keep putting it off.
