After I upgraded to 4.2.2, Bluetooth share is on the top of battery usage... (I have never seen that one before..)
According to BBS, it's a process called StartingObexPbapTransaction that is the sinner..
Has anyone else noticed this? Another thing, I have changed my BT headset around the same time, so not 100% sure it is the update to 4.2.2 or my new headset that is causing this...
Regards,
BTJ
Yes - same issue. Bluetooth seems to never disconnect from the device - even when it's not in range or powered down. It's not consistent either - sometimes it works fine, other times it gets 'stuck'.
You can toggle bluetooth on/off on the phone and it will stop the drain - but I only tend to notice there's a problem when my battery is draining way too fast - and by then it's too late.
Same issue here, started with 4.2.2.

So it's not just me.. But I guess no solutions....

Not just me then ...
I'm having the same issue...
anyone find a fix yet?
Is this limited to certain users? If not, I'm surprised it's not a bigger issue and hasn't been addressed.
BTW, I'm experiencing the same issue and have to remember to turn off my BT when I leave the car.
Having a similar issue running MMuzzy's 4.2.2 ROM on a toro GNex, and it appears there's a bug filed against it on the Google Code site: # 41110
Please star the issue so that it gets some attention...(I'm restricted from posting outside links, so someone please post a direct link)

Just chiming in to say I'm experiencing the same problem. I don't seem to recall it happening when I first upgraded to 4.2.2 but rather it seems to have cropped up in the last couple days only.

Since I can't post to the pershoot's dev thread, here's a my own JB thread.
I am currently using :
BOOTLOADER: recovery.tar.md5 (from:droidbasement)

GAPPS: gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip (from: goo.im/gapps)
I have a p4 wifi but could only get my hands on the p4 build do to net traffic. It seems to work just fine on a wifi only device. The only difference seems to be the additional phone app and an triangle icon in the system tray. Don't laugh, but it took me a bit of digging to figure out what that triangle icon was!
I am also using the circle battery mod, which for those who don't know replaces the power meter.
I have been using the experimental builds for quite some time now. Other than the known issues and the occasional lockup I am having no issues.
In the past the wifi would go to sleep and never wake up, but builds after 09-26-2012 no longer have this problem. I can now set my wifi to sleep with the tablet, and have no problems what so ever. If you have this problem then try an app named "Advanced Wifi Lock". I tried many others and this is the only one that seemed to fix the problem.
All to report for now.
Why don't you just get 10 useful posts.... It's not that difficult

If your interested in 10 other things then more power to you!
Please debate the point. I'm now up to 4!
Dude where did you found the circle mod? That mod rly nice

Hi my friend...
that triangle icon is used to be the phone signal meter in 3G(p7500) version,so it shows that you don't have a signal
Just installed the latest CM10 (18 Oct), coming from LQ8 and very happy so far (my G.Tab is the 3G version).
My only real problem is HDMI out, which is pretty important to me. I have done a search but I found only references to old problems with it and nothing about the problem which I am having: it works (no audio though) but the resolution is 640x400!
Anyone know if that's the "normal" behaviour for this build? (i.e. if this is a known problem)
If it is I hope audio and resolution get fixed ASAP since I have no intention of going back to stock!!
Hi all, had my nexus 10 since the opening sale on the google play store. Recently I've been having issues with it restarting randomly, in some cases when it has just been sitting on my desk without any input.
I've also had a few problems with the wifi as well as a creaky backplate. I see the backplate issue is common with most who have the device but was wondering if the WiFi issue could be the reason my device keeps restarting? I'm at the point now where I may have to send it back.

The quick and easy fix that worked for me was to disable all location settings. It did the trick and it should for you as well. Hope that helps.

I'd be willing to bet it was rebooting the whole time and you didn't notice. Turning off the location services is hit and miss. Some say it cures it (after an unspecified amount of time usually) but others like me still see reboots.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I just started getting the reboot error except I was able to isolate the problem to a lost wifi signal. With chrome reloading a couple pages, turn off my wifi router and the nexus 10 will freeze. It won't respond to any input and will just set for about a minute until it finally reboots on its own.
Only time ever I have had the freeze/reboot error is when I went into an area that lost the signal. Seems like chrome/nexus 10 does not know how to handle the lost signal and tries to correct it with a hardware reboot. Happens at both 2.4 and 5ghz.
Hopefully be corrected in the next software upgrade.

I only have issues if the AP in the router is set to use a 40Mhz channel bandwidth. If I set it to 20Mhz, I can enjoy stable wifi goodness. It took me 2 RMA'd Nex 10s and testing with 3 different routers to come to this conclusion, but this was the workaround that succeeded for me.

I have actually noticed a difference on the different routers so I'll pay a bit more attention to this and see if my device reflects the same results.

+1. Same process worked wonders for my N10.
I know random reboots is common with 4.2 but is it possible it's hardware related or something else? Reason being, I get alot of random reboots on the PUB AOKP rom, that just about all other users of that rom say they have zero random reboots, and I also get reboots while in TWRP, which I have reinstalled multiple times.

Its just so ludicrously awful to need to replace default apps and turn off features to have a usable tablet. Not so much for us because we will root and fix things ourselves but if a random person goes into best buy and buys a nexus 7 or 10 they will have a bad experience. All the people who say android is buggy...this is why. Its unfortunate how broken 4.2 is.

Since you set your router to 20 MHz has it continued to work without rebooting? Also do have geo location enabled ? Thanks
Mine also random reboot and hang. When fix will be out! This is crazy for v4.2 or v4.2.1
Android please release fixed as soon as possible.
Any kernel or ROM solving this issue now? Or all same?

Ya, I was at CM 10.1 now, it was much better, especially when removed and not using Chrome. By the way CM 10.1 stock browser was much better and smooth.
Android must fix it!

Yeah I'm on a custom ROM with linaro optimizations and its fantastic. Slapped in ktmanta kernel and now just full of win. Aosp browser is better than chrome anyway. It's a sad state of affairs when community work is better than Google's but at least we can enjoy alternatives.

I have a hunch that the CPU isn't getting enough power. I've currently upped the voltage by 25V so I'm going to see if that does anything. Using CleanROM definitely did reduce it though.

Callers at the other end have difficulty hearing me, and I've never been able to find a solution. At first, I thought it's the ROM I was using, but after flashing the stock rooted ROM, same problem. I'm using the correct baseband. I'll do a test tomorrow, returning the phone to factory condition with the latest images from Google.
Has anybody gotten this problem and was able to fix it?
Update: Back to factory condition. Issue still isn't fixed.
Newer update: Called Google Play Store via this number 1-855-836-3987. They'll be sending a replacement.

While i am not stock, I did notice this one time with my phone... like extremely LOW to the point i was pressing the phone HARD against my ear to hear.
Solution? I went ahead and flashed Paranoid Android 3.56 and flash the Louder volume MOD in the themes and apps section. That fixed my issue, I also know that not all of you will want to root, and that this SUCKS. but try to restart the phone.
Just root guys, this phone was made for that

Oh actually the issue I'm talking about is different. The ear piece volume is fine, but whenever I talk to someone on the phone, they can barely hear me unless I use speaker phone. I was actually using Paranoid Android, and I was being told I can barely be heard. So I flashed back to factory to see if it was a ROM issue. Sadly it wasn't.. On factory ROM I can still barely be heard.

I tried using headsets and the results were pretty much better..
Wish I could help. Just had to RMA mine today. Completely stock, no mic. Works when plugged in, sometimes, but for the most part no audio. When it is plugged in, the wife says I sound like I'm trapped in a bottle lol echo and static.
I had the same problem when I was running full stock. It was really annoying to hear "I can't hear you..." every other sentence.
This won't help if you do not want to root or run custom ROMs but since I switched to PA 3.56 and Matr1x kernel the people on the other end of the line haven't been complaining. I imagine for whatever reason it was fixed would apply to most custom ROMs and Kernels. I'll actually test this out this weekend and edit my post afterwards.
Edit: I made some calls to friends on PA/Matr1x/Radio .48 and everything seemed fine. I flashed full stock and called back the same people and only one person said they heard a noticeable decrease in the quality. That person also knew I was testing different settings on my phone so maybe they were messing with me.

Bumping an old thread ...
So my gf started complaining that she could barely hear me when I was using my Klipsch S4A headphones to talk--while in the car and in a quiet room. I was on CM10.1 at the time and I had read complaints from others with the same/similar issue on other ROMs, even stock/unrooted. I chalked it up to 4.2 and hoped 4.3 would fix it.
It appears that isn't the case. I just sacrificed root so I could flash a clean install of 4.3 (new bootloader and radio included) hoping it would at least mean I could have normal conversations with my gf again while the devs cook up CM10.2. How bummed am I to find out that the issue persists. I just called her from my office with my headset on and she said I "still sound far away." This is really frustrating. I never had this issue on my GNex.

I wish someone comes up with a solution for this.. I was hoping 4.3 would solve this issue also. Some say its cause of the noise reduction, isn't there anyway we could disable noise reduction?! I remembered I had that option on CM10 my i9300 but not on nexus 4 build.. This is really an issue for me since i always use headset for phone calls.. I was wondering if the original Nexus 4 headset would solve this issue.

Hi guys,
i found 2 "solutions" which didnt work for Nexus 4:
1: typing *#*#3646633#*#* into the phone to enter the engineering mode. "Should" work for all Android, does not for Nexus 4
2: the App "MobileUncle". Does only work for MTK Chipsets (Nexus 4 has another one)
my question: is there something like the Engineering mode for the Nexus 4 ?
Same issue on Nexus 5
FYI, the nexus 5 has the low input volume gain when using 3.5mm headphones with inline mics. I don't understand what LGs problem is with 3.5mm connections or why it was never tested.
started a discussion on in here
Any solution yet???
I have the exact same Issue, Android 4.4.2 and the issue is not fixed weird that only Nexus 4 has it. I am like you trying to find an app or a way to work around the issue, tried to install other ROM using rom manager and phone when SLOW as heck so no idea how to fix it yet, loud speaker to every single call is not the way to go

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone may know if the new 4.4 Kit Kat will fix all of the Nexus 7 2013 touch screen problems.
Maybe Asus and Google knows it fixes the issue. That's why they didn't rush to help us in the last few months.
Cross your fingers people and hope this fixes all of our issues. That would be sweet.
Oct 28 4.4 I'm thinking.
I hope that... it's been a headache, and that's the only flaw mine has, the fix here fixes it just temporally.
Can't say whether it will or won't but I can say I really doubt they have the fix already in hand and are holding it back waiting for kit kat.
They've never been shy about putting out releases to fix things and a touchscreen fix is very contained and isolated, not something that touches many areas requiring long code reviews.
Can I just ask what kinde of problems you are reffering to? Multitouch problem has been fixed with the latest update. At least mine was. With a multitouch program I placed all 10 fingers on screen and was moving it arround, and it registrated all fingers and arrows were moving very very smoothly. 60fps+. Also, there is no problem with GPS anymore. The only problem which is actually not a problem, is smal buzz from speakers when watching of listening to something at very low volume, but that is reported for all nexus 7 devices because that is how the speakers are made.
You are saying like nexus 7 2013 is forgotten and this 4.4 is our last hope for the device otherwise its useless to use. Which is far from truth. I have absolutely no problems with it.
I don't know, maybe I use the device too much? But I can definitely say ghost touchs and some multi-touch issues are there and persistent. In fact right now as I was writting this the keyboard went crazy, it's really annoying and I don't even want to start with the horrible experience I'm getting with PS Touch(which I use a lot) thanks to this problem. Sometimes I have to reboot the device when it goes crazy zooming while navigating the internet.
For you guys that your tablet is "perfect", fascinating, good for you, but that doesn't mean the problem doesn't exists anymore, you just got lucky.
I personally have no more touchscreen issues since JSS15Q, but if there is another touchscreen fix in KitKat that would be good to the few unlucky ones still having issue with theirs..

The few that had touchscreen problems initially were fixed. 75% of working units were broken in the process. Its a big issue. We have a fix but nothing from Google. There are several screen variances which make it impossible for a single 1 fix all solution.
Google will have to detect each variance and patch accordingly. Probably why it hasn't been released yet because it probably will take a larger testing period then previously mentioned. Even using the XDA fix, some versions can cause several FCs and bugs. Similar to the specific pattern freakout.
With 4.4 on the horizon, it would be best to include it in that. Google probably isn't going to create an OTA and then another one in a few weeks.
Just cross your fingers and hope for an official fix.
GPS was fixed though. I'm not sure about the kernel reboots though. I haven't used the stock kernel nor had reboots since I flashed CM Kanged.

Any source for that 75% number? Without a proper source it is hard to not consider that as a case of the loud minority.
If it were that serve of a problem we would hear the tech press clamoring about it by now. But nothing was said about N7 touchscreen by the tech press since JSS15Q.
I can't tell you what the real percentages are, but the touchscreen issue is definitely a much bigger problem than your standard problems.
Standard run-of-the-mill issues get a thread with maybe 20 posts. Touchscreen is producing 1000 post threads. So relative to normal problems it is a big problem, but whether that is a 5% vs 1% problem or a 75% vs 1% problem I could not tell you.
There are at least 3 huge threads on Google support forums about this problem:
Multi-touch - reports of improvement, no improvement, and some worse
Multi-touch (continued) - more reports of fixed / not fixed for JSS15R
Multi-touch (continued 2) - more reports of touchscreen issues
BTW I created the xda fix for touchscreen so I'm very familiar with the fixes Google put out and whether they have fixed the issue. JSS15R fixed it for some screens but made it much worse for others.
That's the main reason I haven't sent my Nexus for repair, is not hardware related, or at least that's what I think, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, actually it is hardware related, but you can't tell if your hardware is one type or another without using Sfhub's process.
Well, thanks for confirming
I personally don't think that all of the touchscreen issues will be fixed with Kit Kat. I feel that Google will he focusing more on a fully operational OS, and that we'll need a dedicated fix to solve our problems.
But I surely hope that I'm wrong.

It just sucks that I don't have my tablet. I went back to Radio Shack and ordered the 32gb through them, since none of their stores had that version on their shelves, and 16gb was not working out for me. At least I'll get to download it as soon as I get my new device!

This process doesn’t wipe the tablet, so your settings, apps and everything else should stay in tact whenever you get back to the system. Remember that you will have lost root at this point, but it’s easy enough to get that back.. Cool resource!
But before kitkat my GPS worked very well
I've experienced occasional very bright flashes on my tablet's screen, like a flash of lightning or a camera flashlight.
I'm on lollipop 5.1 now, but I think I've been seeing this since my jellybean 4.3 days.
Has anyone else had this? Is this a known issue? Is there a fix?
I've had this happen a few times, always when scrolling from one desktop screen to another, and only after installing 5.1. I'm using the Nova Launcher beta, and another user had the same experience and thought it was from the beta. Mysterious.
same here.. i had monitored the spontaneous flashing, this is almost every night around 10pm (at least in my local time GMT+8). I observed of course the sudden burst of light came from the led flash of the camera.
I suspect that this is some sort of an app permission that we allowed from installing a certain "malicious app" i dont know what app is that.. Maybe it took pictures of your sorrounding, data mining/gathering that is and Its kinda crossing our privacy and somehow creepy.
I hope someone would enlighten and help us regarding this issue.
I've had this happen since install 5.0, I've only ever used stock on my N10. When I installed 5.1 I did a complete wipe and only installed selected apps, I haven't even reinstalled the Amazon app store. Today I noticed it as I had the screen on but the brightness turned all the way down (for another problem I'm having) and I was just sitting here and it flashed suddenly for no reason. All it was doing was downloading a comic from Comixology.

That's exactly how it happens for me too - while reading, or doing something equally innocuous. Methinks it's a glitch in the hardware. I dunno how to report this to Google, or if they'll even listen.
Mine has been doing the same thing, I think it started with the first 5.0.x updates. A random flash, doesn't matter what I'm doing, can't predict when it will happen.
Running stock 5.1.0 rooted, no other mods.
Say Cheese!
Just checking if anyone has had any idea about this?

No clue yet ?
If anyone learns anything, please post it here. I'll do the same.
Its 10pm Pacific and it happened to me. This is the second time. First time I thought I imagined it then felt a little creeped.
Now I'm full on creeped out. I tried recreating it by doing the same things. I had my thumb over the light sensor at the time so I thought...
But no that can't be it. My hands are always in the same place. I'm running stock. Anyone up for sharing apps that are installed and we can narrow this down?

Has been happening to me for the last couple of years, and in that interval I've installed several different ROMs and completely different sets of apps, except the basic Google apps that have been common. So if it is being triggered by an app, it must be one by Google.

I'm experiencing exactly the same since 5.0 on my Nexus 10... Thought it was AVG Security app maybe?
It freaks me out to think these photos are being taken and sent to somebody :/

Nope, it's no particular app. I've had it with completely different sets of apps installed. Anyway, what makes you think it could be AVG?

I thought it could be AVG because I have the anti-theft enabled which takes a photo of the unauthorised user. I activated it recently to test it and my Nexus 10 had been flashing only since then.
I'm having this problem, too. I don't have AVG or whatsoever. It happened 3 times in a couple of weeks. Is somebody watching us or do they just need to supply their x-rated web sites?
Mine is doing this too. Did you find out why? Maybe there is somewhere a spy-app that has installed itself? Do you have a hint for me? I write from Hungary. Best regards. Eddie Taft

Sorry, I couldn't find out anything. And in any case it's nearing its end-of-life. Finding a good Marshmallow image for it was difficult enough; I don't think it will see Nougat, ever. The battery on my device is in poor shape, and I'm debating whether to invest in a replacement, or just let it run down and die quietly.
